Just 2 days ago, in the south of my contry (Spain) a drunken soldier killed a 5 year old girl with his car.
Why was it clear that he was drunk? Because the gentelman came out of the car with the drink still in his hand.
He has been acused and is on bail right now.
People like this never should be allowed to drive nothing again that requires a license in their whole lives.

    Drinking too much
I had an employee named Jade and he was a really good kid. He was selling roofs for me for probably close to a year and he was making great money. This kid is fresh out of high school just turned 21 making six figures in missouri. Let's just say he became popular quickly with friends and girls.
He started going to the bar every weekend and then it became several times through the week and finally he got a DUI ticket at some point. When I found out about that I pulled to the side and had him sit on the couch in my office and I sat and talked to him.
I told him he was making very bad decisions that would destroy his life and that he needed to give up alcohol and focus on work for a while until he was in a better position to have those types of relationships.
I told him he would end up dead or in prison if he wasn't careful. I remember him kind of smirking like he had it under control and I didn't know what I was talking about. 2 weeks later on his way home from the bar he was going too fast and he wrecked his car and him and his cousin were both killed. at the funeral the big picture they had sitting next to his casket was actually a picture of him in his work outfit. I remember the irony I felt of knowing this kid was wearing my shirt with my logo that I handmade on my own and that I created this company to do good things and in a weird way it killed somebody, actually two people. That was a very difficult funeral for me. Sooo young.

No, you did what you could to prevent what would later actually happen. It's time you forgive yourself for something that you are not at fault for and had no control over. You gave him advice that a smart person would've taken. He chose to dismiss the advice and through his, and only his, actions got himself killed.
You tried to help. Don't feel guilty that the lifeline was not accepted.

Three rules you have to abide by when handling firearms, for your safety and everyone else's.
1: There is no such thing as an unloaded firearm. You can remove the magazine and check to make sure the chamber is clear, but that only means YOU know it's not loaded. It's like Schrodinger's Cat, except the Gun is Always Loaded until proven otherwise, and no one else should have to gamble on that chance, nor should they take you at your word. A gun is locked, loaded, and ready to fire if it exists at all, and even if the existence of a gun is suspected but not outright confirmed. This is how everyone who knows guns should operate, because it's how police and military personnel operate. The cop doesn't know your gun isn't loaded when you sweep him and the dozen innocent people nearby, he just sees gun and is trained and obligated to shoot.
2: Schrodinger's Pathway. Everything down the barrel of your gun is both alive and dead until the gun is fired to definitely prove that it is dead. You do not allow the barrel to point at anything you are unwilling to take responsibility for shooting, period. Putting your finger on the trigger should be the second-to-last thing you do when you commit to taking that responsibility upon yourself, the last thing being squeezing that trigger to finalize your decision.
3: Ignore those two rules, and you will be made to take ultimate responsibility for your negligence and ignorance in the harshest form available. This could range anywhere from immediate fatal consequences from law enforcement or nearby people responding with equal reciprocation of force, or significant legal consequences for damage caused through your failure. You will face consequences for your failure, it is inevitable, and your survival is not guaranteed.

number 1 in simpletons terms: treat every gun if its loaded even if it isnt.
number 2 in simpletons terms: dont aim a gun (even if its not loaded) to something/someone you dont intend to kill/destroy.
number 3 in simpletons: if you ignore 1 and 2, you're def gonna kill someone.

My estranged father enjoys his "right to bear arms" a bit too much sometimes. But I have been getting interested in getting my own permit so had him show me some of his pistols as something to connect to him with. While showing me a Sig Saur, he kept sweeping me with it unintentionally and even pointed it at me to show me the laser sight. God I wanted to do nothing more than run from his place, but I didn't say anything because I want our relationship to not get any more strained. I can vouch for that because I live in Mississippi and my dad is horrid driver, he picked us up from school a couple months ago and we stopped at a stop sign near a spot known for crashes and wrecks, he was looking at his phone the whole time even before we stopped at the sign, when he stopped he didn’t put his foot on the brake completely and we were slowly creeping forward and my brother and I were trying to point it out to him and we were halfway into the right lane when he finally realized ( the stop sign was on the left side of the street we were moving into ), he got annoyed we didn’t warn him sooner even though we DID, he was just too buried into whatever he was reading to notice. There was a car coming our way too that could’ve hit us
Edit: we were on a street that was leading into a main road, that’s where the other car that was coming straight toward us was from

    My idiot cousin;
the guy dropped out of high school because he believed he was "too smart" for school, only to be put under house arrest for shoplifting at a Walmart. He was kicked out of his parents' house because he had gotten worse about his bullying attitude towards his brothers and his parents (his mother and stepdad) had enough of it, after trying to discipline him as much as they could. Instead of admitting to being kicked out and forced to live with his biological father, he chose to fabricate a story and claim that he was "in a gang" and that he moved out to get away from them (he still claims that to this day) as well as say he was abused by his stepdad (not true). He went from job to job, quitting a couple and getting fired from others, and he got a girl pregnant (twice). He and I had a huge fallout a couple of years ago and I haven't been on any speaking terms with him since and I cut him out of my life, as I was tired of his toxic behavior, but I soon learned that his girlfriend dumped him after he cheated on her, then soon lost his car and driver's license because he likes to go speeding and he refused to pay the fine, and he's currently living in one of the worst trailer parks in town. The trailer park, in particular, is pretty much Rock Bottom/Deadbeat Central as people who live there are pretty much both. It's also safe to assume that my cousin lost his last job because the last thing I was told was that his parents refused to help him.

my friend’s sister ended her life. he and his sister were very close. immediately after he saw her body everything went wrong. he were in stable and healthy relationship, but decided to quit it because he was too broken to be in relationship. he was too broken to do basically anything. he was a very organized and calm person, nobody ever saw him being sad or mad. his sister had some mental illness, we wasn’t close so i don’t know her reasons to do such thing, she had a nice family and some friends as well, and my friend is now too depressed to talk about it and sure i won’t ask him. i’m just feeling very sorry for him, i was seeing him going from the most confident, intelligent and strong person i’ve ever knew to devastated and empty. i’m not sure it’s the right tread to comment in, but right now his life is ruined for sure, tho all of his friends and me are trying hard to cheer him up at least just a bit. seeing the strongest one breaking is truly very sad

Knew a girl in high school I will call Kelly, who was beautiful, popular, good at sports, got great grades, was a good singer, had a job and a car, came from a really nice family, had two younger brothers, a dog and a couple of horses, lived on acreage: in other words, pretty damn lucky and basically what everyone would want out of teen life.
She was going to go to University in the fall but about a month into the summer after she graduated, she met a guy 3 yrs older than her, and fell for him hard, even though he did not appear to have any direction in life. She started university, he followed her to the city, but by Christmas she had dropped out. Fast forward 15 yrs: she died of a drug overdose, in some public bathroom, leaving behind 3 kids from two fathers; the eldest boy and girl belonged to the dude she left school for but he took off when the baby girl was 2, and apparently he and Kelly were addicted to more than one drug and they lived from fix to fix doing whatever to get whatever. The kids were put in foster care, then up for adoption, and were taken by a relative in the end. When she died she had a 4 yr old who had also been seized at birth, born addicted.
To go from where she was to where she ended up just flabbergasted me.
I will never understand drug use. It never improves your situation. When she died, she was 34 and looked 60, a princess turned into a hag. So sad.

How about just don't be on your phone when driving, period? Are we really becoming so impatient that we have to be on our phones even in the car?

ok so lets say hypothetically im driving home, and someone i know is at a fatal risk (someone with a gun, a fire etc etc,) and they are incapable to call the police or firefighters (or call a hospital for an emergency it honestly depends)( and the reason they couldnt call the police could possibly be a lack of signal or some stupid circumstance etc etc) , now if i just didnt respond at all before i park somewhere it could cost that person their life or put them in severe danger, now if i just straight up picked up the phone and was calling them while driving at that point im risking my life as well, but if im using a hands-free kit i am lowering the risks involved. however i do agree that we shouldnt be using our phones while driving at all. and lets not act like we are all becoming so ''impatient'' , ive heard that bias so many times its stupid, like seriously we arrent all texting/calling and driving 24/7, (i mean some people are but thats a more rare occurance) and drunk driving is just significantly worse in every way then just using a hands-free kit or straight up using your phone.

The story about the guy sliding down a rail and falling onto concrete then dying really freaked me out. I was out walking with a friend, about to pick up a pizza a few summers ago. He turned around to notice I wasn't behind him, so he walked back towards the shops we walked past and found me foaming at the mouth, eyes rolling back, in the midst of a seizure with a pool of blood surrounding my head. He didn't immediately know what had happened, like had I been hit on the head by someone. He noticed blood on the shop door handle and blood traces on the door/wall. I wasn't attacked but had fainted and on the way down I smashed my head on the shop door handle, one of those big, rectangular metal ones. The edge had cut a big wide gash into my scalp. We ended up in the accident and emergency department, the doctor sewed my head back up, I had a 3inch cut on my scalp, they had to do internal stitches too, my skull was left exposed so they had to stitch something under my skin before they could close the scalp. The wound was apparently so impressive that the doctor asked me if it was cool to let his students come take a look, I said sure and 5 med students came in, gloved up and were having a good look. I did not allow myself to sleep at all that night. It terrifies me to think how I could have easily died that day from simply overheating, fainting and hitting my head. If I had hit a different part of my head then perhaps I would not be typing this 😱

I said so loudly aren't you tired of being homeless dont you want to be in Milly's (her daughter) life?!

I think we just need way better education on drugs in general. Demonizing all drugs and psychedelics, putting them all under the same umbrella, is what causes a lot of trouble. Drugs like (pure) weed and magic mushrooms (which aren’t even addictive) are pretty much completely harmless (as long as you’re not dumb enough to get behind a wheel while using them), so when someone who’s grown up believing those are on the same level as meth and crack, they will try weed and think meth is no worse… and they will end up making one of the worst possible mistakes. It all comes down to education. Also the war on drugs is a self feeding cycle that’s not solving the problem or even treating it’s symptoms properly

when i was 10 our house was right next to a really busy street, next to several bars, so inevitably we would a lot of drunk drivers. i vividly remember one night were i woke up because of the sounds of a crash. it was 11pm and i went to see if my mom heard it too, she had. a drunk woman in her 20s was speeding and swerving on the road and she ended up hitting a 50 year old lady driving home. the cars were absolutely destroyed, the drunk woman actually only suffered from minor injuries, the other woman died a few months later due to complications. it was really tragic, the woman was married with kids and she had a grandchild on the way. i hope her family is doing well.

Learned recently that a buddy of mine who's a driving instructor was caught drunk driving. Instantly lost his job+license and is facing up to a year in prison. Wife isn't super happy about it either. House is in her name as well so, yeah.....

We are joking about some shit and Lucas turned around and said to the girl, “EMA PLEASE TELL CHARLIE AND ADDISON THAT I AM OVER YOU”, She just was shocked, she never knew about lucas’s crush. dug himself a huge hole.

Kinda have one for this. This took place during my senior year at college and involves a professor who taught junior level aerodynamics to aerospace engineers. he was respected in his field, had formulae bearing his names, and had received multiple honors in his field including being selected as a fellow by the AIAA. He was one of the most beloved professors in his department. Well, anyway, one day he doesn't show up for a class and his TAs don't anything about why or where he is. Turns out around that time he was offering meth in exchange for "favors" from who he thought was a homeless woman. Unfortunately for him the person he was propositioning was actually an undercover police officer. i think he got something like a half year house arrest but i cannot see him being able to continue his career in the future after getting a charge like that

One time I saw someone stomp a ketchup packet then slip and fall through a window on the 4th story of a buildings Wide glass paned window. They landed on the roof of someone’s Porsche they survived but the car repairs costed a lot and they are still paying for them. They also broke their neck and the medical bills were crazy.

So before we found a house where I live, we lived at my family's ranch. It was in a small farm town, so everyone has guns. About a year after we found a house and moved in (about an hours drive from the ranch) I found out one of my friends from there had shot himself in the chest. No one has found out yet if it was on purpose or if it was an accident. But what happened was, his little brother heard the sound of a gun shot and ran to where it was coming from. (The hallway across from their parents room) And what did he see? His brother laying dead on the floor in a huge pool of blood. It's been a few years and that boy still is traumatized. It's so sad and scary to think about. But anyways, that's the fastest someone's life has been ruined that I know of. (Both my friend and his brothers)

personal story: its the first half of august 2021, and im on the beach with my family and my friends family. dude, about 20-25 years old is doing cartwheels, handsprings and flips on the shore very near to the water(i was about 15 meters(50 ft) away from him playing with my friend with a waboba ball. at some point, we just see a man running to him and the guy lying down on the sand. turns out, he did a backflip and fell badly, breaking his spine. last thing i heard, his legs are paralyzed and maybe his arms and torso too. dude was tryna show off, sad thing.

i was at a school dance and this one song was playing where it had a lot of slurs and stuff. anyways this one very white girl goes up to the front to start singing along and when it came time to say the n-word she like screamed it out and a bunch of people heard her. a lot of people got super mad at her and she spent a large portion of her time alone because of what she said.
