Our ppl need to stop doing things last minute. Getting 4-8 hr hair dos done the day of or before an event.Practice upkeep and wearing a bonnet.
People do their families hair and think they can handle the unpredictability and demands of strangers.
That’s why I don’t recommend my little sister yet despite her always slaying my hair. She’s 18 and will be going to hair school this fall. We come from an old school type of family and she will be trained by an old school stylist. Ima make sure she is professional and stands out from all these atrocious stylists

Not to mention based on genetics, your family is gonna have *your* hair type. You'll all be type 4a, but you may see type 3b, 3c, 2a, etc. And if you cannot confidently do those hair types without ruining the whole head of hair, you better not be in the same vicinity of calling yourself a hairdresser for black hair! It's just so irresponsible....
Black, white, asian, hair is SO VITAL to self esteem. Add to that black culture here in America already has a history, to this day, of denying black people their own autonomy for hair styles and like.... it's mean. It's evil to present as a stylist when you don't know what you're doing and you run the real risk of *ruining someone's self-esteem* for money :/

Also, if you’re doing hair out of your kitchen or living room, don’t charge salon prices. You’re not paying booth rent or working commission. Clients aren’t getting the luxury of sitting in a professional environment. I’ve been to stylist that have a room set up like a salon in their home. But still, you’re not paying booth rent so what’s the point besides being greedy? A hair page on Facebook, they love saying, “charge your worth”. But you gotta be realistic about it. What you think is great may not be great to someone else; plus, be reasonable. Don’t charge $300 for a press n curl because you think you’re the shyyyt

Yess!! It’s shocking how stylists would charge $200+ for an install at THEIR HOME, require a deposit, requiring you to come wash and blow dried. Then have the nerve of not being licensed! No shade but I don’t like getting my hair done inside of peoples homes unless they set up a room or dedicated space of salon equipment. Which most do not. I like feeling the experience in a salon environment so I’m willing to pay as long as the customer service is good and the place is clean. Some may call me bougie but they never get their hair trimmed nor washed. Just braids.

The girl who went to the stylist with the red locs got me HEATED ! Why is the stylist acting as if that looks even remotely good??? Looks like a child was playing in her head. Then proceeds to call her apartment “her salon” 😂😂. On top of that lying to the cops talking about the girl yelling and trying to leave when she clearly wasn’t … doesn’t she know they’d be able to hear that over the phone? 🤨. A mess .

@karengayles2947 For outstanding dues, the "stylist" can take the customer to small claims court. However, at that court appointment, the customer can countersue. If you seen Judge Judy you know how bad it can go for the original plaintiff. That "stylist" is not about to FAFO with the court.
The university of TH-cam has never done me wrong. I learned how to do my own hair. From braids, to wigs, to natural hair, TH-cam got me. If it looks a mess it's because I'm learning and I can redo it and keep learning without bleeding my wallet.

I tried to, but I really don't have the passion to do my own hair like that 😅. A blow dry and flat iron is about all I care to do. Though videos on how to trim my hair have been helpful, but I desperately need a proper cut now.

The problem is a lack of education. These young people out here doing things with the most minimal of information about what they're doing and expect success. Smh
Because they’re trying to be overnight millionaires, overnight gurus and boss b’s. Having your own business which they failed to understand does not mean you will be rich. It just means you own a business most hairstylist I know are not filthy rich and a lot of them have main jobs full-time.

The "service" that woman did at 18:40 looks like hair that was done 3 weeks ago, went camping, ran a marathon, chaperoned a kindergarten class through an entire natural history museum (15 till close), did oil changes on everyone in the family's cars, hosted thanksgiving for BOTH sides of the family (and got stuck with the dishes), and only had one day off this week and had to move into a new apartment by Sunday. Yet that woman, whose hair she butchered, STILL looks stunning. Thankfully she got it all on camera. I'm in the service industry, and while I know nothing about hair, I am well versed on how you deal with an unhappy customer (or, in this case, the person you scammed)...you LISTEN to their grievances, and unless they are absolutely vile human beings trying to run a scam of their own or with some type of malicious agenda, you do whatever you can to make it right. That is how you get referrals. That is how you make a name for yourself. Doing otherwise practically proves that you're only in it for quick cash, and care little about your craft or making your customers happy.

The only thing the customer should’ve done differently was call the police herself since you really don’t know who she’s speaking to and as soon as she said the 1st however I know they were telling her she was wrong. Good thing recording the whole thing!

@@BlackGirlLovesAnime6 Yea they are often unlicensed but charge big business fees and large deposits. I also think a lot of them lie about their experience and skill level to come across more professional than they actually are.
I've been doing hair since junior high school. Went to beauty school after high school and I'm the person everyone in my family, (in laws included) comes to do get their hair done. I used to love styling hair. But then the beautiful mermaid/boho goddess braids became popular and that's all anyone asks for. It's way too taxing on my body. I don't have a passion for it anymore for that reason. Im older now and have back problems and arthritis in my hands. It helped me to know I don't want to do it for a living. Women are very particularly about their crowns and its hard for me to say no. So I don't charge and I don't take clients. Family only, and even that can be too much sometimes. I say I'm retired everytime I finish a head, until I'm asked again 😂 a blessing and a curse

Being able to do your own hair is a blessing. Last year I decided to let someone do it bc I wasn’t in the mood. I completely regretted it. I ended up having to do it over myself smh!

I thank God I still have my old hairstylists. One licensed. One passionate and professional. These new people are wild. The most I've paid for my hair was $80

I'm my own stylist because these people be wilding out. I'm in my 40s and perimenopausal. We have to worry about natural ageing, hair loss, joint pain from sitting too long, our pensions/retirement/401k and our kids college fees. We do not have time for this foolishness. Cause your old stylist got to retire, move away and might get sick and can't work anymore. Meanwhile, the men earn more money and get a 10-dollar haircut! My dad the ultimate cheap skate learned to cut hair so he never went to the barber! This girl math is not for me. If I'm spending 100s and 1000s, it better be for a holiday or a long term investment!

Yup that’s why places like Irvine California and Seattle charge $200+ for natural hair twists and $400 for box braids because those cities lack a black population and people are willing to pay those outrageous prices due to the scarcity.

I’m honestly scared to book an appointment for myself or my daughter. The last person that did my babies hair took like 5 hours, charged $375 for shoulder length, large box braids and was so rude. I’ve been teaching myself and getting better with each time. I miss the older ladies that use to do my hair when I was younger. Or even the chicks in the projects that were trying to learn and did my hair for free Lol
yeah don't let these people take your money AND disturb your peace!! I don't mind paying for good service but I will get angry if I pay a lot and get bad service too!! Currently, I go to a black trichologist clinic and a white salon for my hair and scalp care and I do my styling at home!! My hair is done in an hour or 2 at most! and I pay under 200!

as a business owner, if i don’t know you personally then YES i will be charging you a deposit. without a deposit, there’s no guarantee that you would even come (and this has happened to me many times before) or even be serious about booking. time is money after all, and service providers have to pay their bills just like y’all who work a regular job 🤷🏽♀️ now what i don’t agree with is deposits being an additional fee to the service instead of just subtracted from the total
@@die4skye hi, I get it, but a lot of us have been burned by putting down a deposit. Including me. What happens when you don’t show? What happens when you’re late? All these rules never work the other way around. My time and money is just as important as yours.
As a black woman in this day and economy PLEASE learn 3-4 styles you can do on yourself, and feel confident and beautiful in between appointments
Last December I decided to go to a African braiding shop for the first time in 10 years. Long story short, it took 10 hours because she was on the phone, leaving the shop to eat without informing me, and last but not least she passed out for about 10 minutes on the floor with just us two in the shop. Im scarred for life and will NEVER get my hair done again😭

As we get closer to finishing, I see her head moving back and forth like she’s tryna stay awake and before I could say anything she passes out and almost hits the heater in front of us. I asked her once she gained consciousness if she was a diabetic or something and she said no she probably was overworked. SMH it was a shit show girl

As I was talking to him she started to wake up and he spoke with her. He said “You passed AGAIN didn’t you”? I was like “This ain’t the first time???! She shook her head no and I’m like girl you need to go to the hospital 😠 sorry for the long story, I’ve just never had someone pass out in front of me alone lol 🤦🏾♀️
This is why ppl don’t support black businesses because the customer service is terrible! Not all of course, but a bad experience can turn you off.
Now I don’t mind washing my hair if I’m getting single braids or rope twist… back in the day I use to go to this African shop and they did not wash my hair, however in the 150 price hair was included. I never had a bad experience and my hair was always neat. They did not require a deposit, and I just paid at the end. Throughout the time my hair was getting done they would check in to make sure I liked it. This was back in the day around the time of 07 and I don’t live in that city. I will say things have completely changed, so I don’t get my hair braided like I use too. If I get my hair done it’s not from a random person, it’s someone a friend or close acquaintance goes to.
It should’ve never been about supporting any race of business. I support professionalism.

Just so you know a lot of reasons these new braiders don't shampoo you is because they legally cannot under their license It used to be in the past to be able to braid hair legally you had to have a cosmetology or a hair design license That's why they could shampoo you but now we have a whole separate braiding license and they don't have to go to school for any proper amount of time to get that license so the powers that be said you cannot shampoo you don't have the education to be allowed to do that

If your husband is almost going to jail over a dispute about your hair unless some physically attacked him, he may be dumb. That’s how you end up looking dumb in jail being locked up while your family and friends move on.
I haven’t been to a hairdresser in 4 years because the last one I did at her apartment and got ringworm, also they charge like a million dollars for you to sit in their kitchen.

I can’t remember if she was or wasn’t but I’m pretty sure I got it from her dog or maybe from the chair. But she was also kind of mean and she started my appointment an hour late. She did my hair well but the over all experience wasn’t worth the cost. That day officially started my independent hair care journey after getting my hair done by stylist since I was 7.
It most likely could’ve been the dog. I have sensitive skin and that’s happened before.
That’ll definitely get someone to learn to do their own hair 😂😂

I don't have any hair stylist horror stories, but just from a business standpoint, when coming up with a policy, contract and deposit amount, it needs to be under the guidance of a lawyer.
It should be considered one of your start-up costs, because someone is going to turn around and sue you if there is even a hint of illegality in there. And if you haven't made sure your contract is 100% legal, they will win. 💚
(Also I think it's amazing you can braid your own hair. I just end up with mine in knots)

They should invest in a front desk worker who also washes hair that will take calls for drop ins. Thus minimizing losses from cancelled appointments. These new age stylists want to keep the whole money without any business codts because they are scammers looking for a get rich scheme. 😐🤔🤨
I stop going to black hairstyles about 10 years ago. Are they all the same? No but I’ve had enough experiences to see a pattern that I don’t have time for.

Not necessarily. You can set a shop up in a room in your home or connected to your home that meets all your state requirements. I personally know a few they are all phenomenal beauticians.

💚 💚 And to add about the girl who got the busted braids and the "stylist" complaining about giving her money back doesnt understand that even good products have a money back guarantee. Heck, i used to groom dogs and even then i offered a free do over if the current cut wasn't what the client wanted and if i couldn't fix it. I would refund the money AND offer to do their next groom free even going so far as to give them added services such as scented shampoo (the basic was just a standard moisturizing & cleaning) a conditioner and a bandana . Because i wanted the customer to know that their happiness is my top priority not money. These scammers are the lowest of the low and i hope karma comes swift and out of the blue.

I truly believe that deposits are only for reputable businesses with a serious online presence. Anything below that has no right to be asking for upfront payment
No independent hair stylist have bills to pay too that is why they charged deposits so that way you are more motivated to not just cancel your appointment cuz you don't feel like coming that is lost revenue that could mean they don't get to pay their electric or they don't get to buy groceries that week at least if they have a deposit they have a small portion of that

Upfront payment is never a good practice no matter the size or reputation of the business. It puts them in the same league as scammers who ask for deposits up front to get that amount of money out of people without ever delivering the service - - it is now a common scam run on people looking for hairstylists because people are willing to pay deposits and scammers saw that and started scamming people by having them pay a deposit and then never delivering the service. The same thing happens when it comes to rental scams when they ask for security deposit before you've seen the place in person or been approved to rent in via an application. Never pay a deposit for anything before you get sufficient confirmation and in fact where I live a lot of places stopped doing security deposits because of the scammers.
@@Maplebear1203 You can be an independent hair stylist and still be a reputable business with reviews! As long as I know the person I'm sending a large deposit to has a quality portfolio, I'm all for sending money to prepay or book an appointment.
We moved to Florida in 2017, Gulf Coast, I went to get a blow dry and flat iron. I have natural hair my black stylist that I found told me I needed a proper haircut and I left with a mullet!!!!! Business in the front party in the back! Side super short, it was horrible. Needless to say I have not been back to not only her but any salon since then I trim my own hair, do my own blow dry and my own color. Went to a braider I found, made an appointment for individual passion twists… prepped my own hair, purchased my own hair, but when I got there, she told me “I’m not doing that individuals take too long!” Proceeded to roll my hair and crochet so tightly that I could hear the hair ripping out of my scalp. That was two years ago. I looked on TH-cam and found out how to do my own individual passion twist and did that before my cruise last year and did it again it’s easy and cute. It’s not too tight and their individuals and I don’t have to pay anybody to give me a hard time and do what they want instead of what I want.😂
Oh my goodness! Yeah nah, there’s no better way than just doing it yourself at that point.

That's why I learned to do my own hair. Get you a mannequin and practice, then practice on yourself..I would never call myself a professional but I've been doing little kids hair the last year or so and every one keeps telling me "you need to make this a business"..nahhh I'll pass lol
That's a great idea! I'm learning how to do my own hair also. I'm getting better with practice. I'll take your advice and get a mannequin. I can't take these stylist anymore.
I am a Master cosmetologist of 25 years, and I totally agree with this. Professionalism and knowledge goes a long way. Do not go to anyone’s home to get your hair done.
2:58 this literally happened to me… I had to wait 40m. When I went up to ask for my refund the lady was magically ready. BUT best believe she had it highlighted and in bold how we’d lose our $50 deposit + be charged an extra $25 for being 15m late ….

If I become a braider I’m not going to do this just like 1 dollar a braid and no extra fees or whatever and do the services that lead up to the main service instead of making customers do it
So I live in Puerto Rico, and since I was little, I have been getting my hair done at a house beautician that lives near me. She does a well job and she doesn't make you pay a lot for her services. Like, sometimes I will get a cut, a wash, a blow-dry, and get my hair straighten for just like $50 or $40, and she's not a big beautician either. Like, she doesn't get hundreds of people coming day by day. One time i tried to get my braids done with her, but she actually did them wrong but, she didn't make me pay for them because she knew she had done a bad job. So then I started to look around for braiders on my area, I was a little bit sketchy about them because of the experience I had with my beautician. So instead of booking a braider on Puerto Rico, I decided to go to the US to get my braids done. And to say that that was one of the worst experiences I've had in my life would have been a misunderstatement. I've never in my 20 years of life have been just made to look dumb as I have felt when I was getting my braids done. Like, it was just a shitshow. She kept making requests with te excuse to 'make her job easier' Which is okay, but when you ask me if I can wash my hair with a specific shampoo or if I can put a certain heat protecting on my hair. isn't that your job? Like, aren't you supposed to wash my hair, put heat protecting on my hair, and then do your job? Like, I was really, really confused. At the end, she basically scammed me. I'm not really sure what happened, because she had booked me for one day, but then she couldn't make it to that day, so she basically canceled my appointment, which I had already paid for, and she wouldn't do a redo and put me on another day, which is weird, because if it was your fault, then I should not be penalized for that. Like, it was your fault, it wasn't mine. I was going to go to the appointment, but you told me that you had a situation and that you could not do my hair. At the end of the day, I went back to Puerto Rico, feeling really down, but then my cousin told me about this girl that she knew, that did braids, and oh my freaking God! she did the most beautiful braids I have ever seen. So affordable, so nice, she was so nice, so sweet. Like, if anyone comes to Puerto Rico and they want to do their braids, they should do them with her, because you can see that she loves what she does. Her name is @viera.braids

Wow. I was just there. Where in PR? I was staying in Old San Juan when I went there last week. My friend and I were looking to get out nails and hair done but didn’t have time to find a place. I’ll keep her in mind for hair next time.

There’s only two I go to and one never charges deposits (I wouldn’t mind if they did tho) they accept walk ins and bookings.
The other salon only charge deposits if they are busy the day I want to come in. I will tip if they end up staying longer to do my hair.
I always bring my own extensions/hair to all my appointments.
Never been charged for 50 for a wash.
Washes at my salons is usually an add on for 10-15 depending on length.
Never been charged to blow dry my hair dry.
With Nigerian salons or any African salon in general, they what as much customers as possible they never over charge or have silly rules. They get more profit and returning customers that way
Alright, so I work in childcare. Now I ain’t never went to school for childcare and right now my job is pretty bare bones, just after school stuff and summer camps. But, I do wanna move up to more professional full time positions. So I’ve been observing what a lot of other professionals around me do and what job listings are requiring. Hence why I’ve been saving up to get a few different certifications and trainings so that way one day I can have my own business. It’s not that it’s impossible to build your business, but if you start right off the bat acting like a legit business without having done any of the leg work nor improving over time, that’s not a business that’s a scam.
I’m trying sooo hard to find one. I cannot deal with these new age stylists they think we are here serve THEM! A lot of them just look @ you like a paycheck, not even a client / person and they have no knowledge on maintaining healthy hair! A girl I was friends with is the WORST I could be here all day telling you about how unprofessional she is (though her work is AMAZING) she never has what she needs to do hair, takes too long, does not wash hair, etc!! I tried so hard to support but I just cannot I need a stress free experience. It’s so hard to get that in bigger cities *sigh*

I remember seeing the girl with the red faux locs years ago and the cops didn't give a shit. I feel like customers need to understand that these stylists are illegal because clearly the cops don't know that. Cause if it were me, once the lackadaisical cops arrived just to tell me I had to pay, I would immediately be bringing up the fact that this lady doesn't have a business or cosmetology license and therefore what she's doing is illegal.

I never had this problem with hair stylists since I know 2 personally. One did start her business out her house and now has a station at a hair salon while the other has a business out her house and worked in many salons before when I was a kid. I have been to a few peoples houses and the worse experiences I had was with a woman who had serious family issues. She knew how to braid and my mom took me to her for a while but still her family issues made me realize how fortunate I was from a young age.
I literally refused to learn how to do my own hair because of time and effort until I moved to houston and gurrrl. I wanted passion twists for the first time and this braider was barely communicative, had me come to her apartment which smelled like LOUD like she had to have just smoked 3 blunts right before I got there and pay a deposit and her man was there walking around half naked like the whole time. the service was pretty cheap so i guess i got what i paid for because the next day 3 of my passion twists slipped out and i literally went to youtube to see how to put them back in and since then I've been doing my own hair lmao. its really tedious and takes me days to finish bc im so busy and i wanna cave and just pay someone but then i see videos like this and i just settle with looking crazy for a week while i do it myself.

The exact samething happened to me. The next day mine were slipping & my scalp was itching sooo bad, it was the worse. She charged me $150 so I definitely got what I paid for. I never got braids or twists after that experience. I just to learned to care for my hair & wear wigs & straighten my hair. I haven’t been to a salon in years.

School matters when it comes to health, sanitation, education, etc. The popularity of unlicensed home hair stylists is one of the reasons I left the convo years ago when it started. It's exactly why I wanna learn how to style other types of hair- who knows if the kid I'll fall in love with and adopt is gonna be black or mixed, and I do not wanna be the mom who destroys their kid's hair :( These stylists need to be having that same mindset that hair is precious. Here's a bit of positivity:
I went to a hair stylist my sister recommended to me from Facebook. We set up everything, I brought the hair I wanted and when I arrived at her address it was her home. I was immediately terrified but I went with it anyways. When I tell you the couple hours I spent with her inside her home with her daughter were the BEST hours of my life. It was so much fun and now that same hair stylist has massive connections in our rural community! She's even got her own salon thing going and I'm so proud of her. She rented a commercial building and it looks incredible. In just a few years she's went from nothing to something. Not all hairstyles are stuck up and mean but I won't lie, it's the majority lol. She was the one I'd trust my hair with no matter what happens to it. I've never been so proud of a person who's not family. I was extremely lucky to have had her and I will always go to her for everything with my hair.

Thank God I still live in Brooklyn NY. I'm loyal to the African hair braiding shop I go to. No deposits and walk ins welcomed. I personally don't go to get braids without washing my own hair but they offer that for those who don't want to/can't wash their own hair. The lack of professionalism of the Instagram stylist is mind-boggling. My old stylist started out great then became more focused on building her Instagram followers. Started rushing, no showing and quadruple booking clients.

I braid hair to help out the momma’s I know who can’t keep up their kids hair. I don’t charge my teenage son’s friends for basic styles because they’re kids who need to learn that proper grooming opens doors professionally. The most I’ve received for a braid service if $40, and I was so grateful for the tip. I always tell my “clients” give me what you think my works deserves. They look out because they’re appreciative of my time❤ I just can’t stand seeing kids walk around with a nappy head cause momma is too busy to learn. Not everyone has the patience to learn a new skill. I’ve had crazies who want something for nothing, but they never get a second chance with me. I’m a SAHM of four…just for a little background 😊

This one used StyleSeat to book appointments. I booked the appointment paid the booking fee and she canceled the appointment at 3 am the day of via email. I started watching youtube videos now I can braid and crochet my own hair and I get nothing but compliments now when people ask who did your hair I can say Me💙💛💚💜

But now it’s even reaching dog grooming services. I had been trying to to rock with what I believe is a black owned dog groomers bc they are in a prime location and was once voted best in my city. Previously they had people like receptionists and such but not anymore. Anyway the deposit was first $30, then $40, then $48, then $50…then all these add on charges like to groom with her was an extra $5, to get proper care extra $20, slight matting went from $20 to $15 for each piece. When you pay the balance she’s start texting with huge pressure to rebook right then and there so she could grab another deposit. To the point it was uncomfortable. Then last week I tried to book, it’s a 100% deposit now. That ended my services w this person. Not to mention huge attitude issues, like don’t let me get started.
WTH is a 100% deposit. So there is NO pressure to do a good job with the service now.

I've been doing my own hair since I was 12 years old, and I'm 36 now. I don't go to the hair salon or go to braiders. I went to get a trim and the lady told me to comb my own hair out, or it would be $75 extra because I'm natural. NOPE never again!!
As someone who can braid their own hair and slay *flexes🥰* it's very tedious. I tried to take clients in 2020-2021 it was hell. People were not respectful, rude etc and when I see how stylists do now I'm flabbergasted. I can literally do anything to my hair and people get offended/side eye when I say I can't longer do anyone's hair. Now don't get me started on my experience with other stylists.. just know that's why my hair skills are now perfected
Most of these” hairstylist” don’t even have licenses. I only go to an old-school hairstylist. None of these new ones who require a deposit and pay a month’s rent to get your hair done. Last time I checked, that was their job. But some of these wanna be Stylist who don’t have licenses want to make you do it. I’m not black but I’m a pale Latina with curly, thick brown hair and I do not let people touch my hair. I had black friends who recommended me castor oils and leave in shampoos and detanglers, since regular stuff dried out my hair. The last time was like 2019. I have short hair the last few years and keep it short because I wear wigs a lot for cosplaying, I moved across the whole ass country and I do NOT trust anyone here. So I bought a pair of shears and some sh!t from the Walgreens, and I have been cutting my own hair since 2021. I get compliments on how cute my hair is multiple times a week and trim it myself. Sometimes you’re the only one who can do sh!t right! 😂

I got locked extensions last week, I’m aware that with loc extensions one or two will fall out, I know I have shorter hair(2.5 inches) but if I can grip my head you can too. The African aunties can. This lady installed my hair, 30+ of my locs fell out between 2 days. She didn’t give me my money back. I’m not spiteful person, but this exact behavior is why I don’t like going to hairstylist, and why I prefer to do my own hair. I don’t like people in my hair and actually tried to go take care of my self for once in my life, it sucked and I was very upset. At this point, I’m thinking of installing my own extensions and keep it moving because I know my hair better than anyone else.
This was a huge factor in me going natural because the stress of finding a dependable hair stylist is just not worth it. I mean hell, 99% can’t even commit to an appointment without rescheduling 5 times and still showing up late. It’s just ridiculous.
I’m fine with a deposit as long as it’s not excessive. I’m not putting down a deposit that over $50. I don’t even like the fact that they would have my card info.

About 15 years ago, my hairstylist since childhood retired, and I went to someone else who jacked it up. Tried to get it fixed somewhere else, jacked up again. Finally had to pay a lot at a fancy salon to fix it. Then somehow I found Diah at a much less expensive salon further from the city, and I have followed her to every salon she moved to since that day! What a blessing!!!
Do not wait till the end then ask for a refund. You need to recognise sooner than later. You absolutely have the right to not like your hair but you can’t sit there and take it till the end, then ask for a refund. The ’stylist’ has the right to refuse your refund.
I don't go to hair salons or even like other people touching my hair anymore. They braid like its a battlefield in my experience, I've never had someone gently braid my hair in a clean place without somehow insulting, belittling and intentionally hurting and being rough with me and my hair. I'm not tender headed, but if you're ripping at my hair , it WILL hurt , duh?? And no matter how nice it looks in the end, i will feel like shit if you've been rude to me and gossiping about me this entire time. I'm tired of it all.
There is a nailtech in my area and her work is beautiful. She wants a deposit as well but the reason why i stoped going to her it’s because she is unprofessional, she comes late for appointments and talk to her phone while doing your nails. For me it was a turn off. If you charge a deposit there is a level of delivery I deserve.
