Word of advice for anyone considering the OG PS4, consider watching some videos about disassembling/cleaning/repasting them if you want to buy one used. These systems are going on a decade old and chances are any system you buy will be considerably dirty and have dried out thermal paste. Caked in dust and dried out thermal paste/pads are why these systems have their jet engine reputation and it's really not difficult to fix. If you spend 20 bucks on top for some good thermal paste and 1.0mm thermal pads, you'll have a nice and quiet console that'll last you a long time. Great video guys!
@@FroggyTWrite Nice, thank you for reminding me, HDDs are super.important to replace too. Like you said makes a difference in menu speeds and loading times
I'm 55 years old so I consider myself an OG of video games going all the way back to the 80s when ATARI was around. This was a great review and I look forward to more content from this channel.
I was born in 1981 and my uncle 1970. I remember playing on his Coleco vision in his room from there I got Nintendo and Super Nintendo. After giving it a break I picked up a Sega Saturn and then a huge gap until PS3. I still have PS3 and PS4 PRO and I love them both!
I’m a 1970 model, myself, and I AM an OG! Original Gamer! I still have my Atari console with games! My main console at the moment is an Xbox one X, but I just acquired a PS4 Pro for $150 because I want to replace the hard drive with a 2 TB SSD. My wife said “Don’t you already have a PS4?” And I said “But it ain’t a Pro !” 😂 I switched to X box just before cross platform became a thing and I missed my Gran Turismo. PlayStation has way more games than Xbox, and their racers are better, in my opinion, than what Xbox has to offer. But does anybody know if there’s a PlayStation controller out there that is set up like an Xbox controller because PlayStation has the D-pad in the wrong spot!
lol I was just a watching TH-camr complaining about how bad call of duty has become. I couldnt believe all the little things he was bitching about. I suggested he try the games I started with. My first video game. PONG. Then of course Atari 2600. The kids these days so spoiled
PS4 is my favorite Playstation console ever and its still holding up to this day and now im trying to enjoy my PS4 to this day before it gets really old.
Yes, getting a PS4 Pro at a Goodwill is a rare occurrence, but that is exactly where I got mine. I paid $82 for it, untested, and figured I could make my money back in parts if it was shot. It turned out its hdd was borked, and I just happened to have a Best Buy gift card burning a hole in my wallet, so I put in a new drive, installed the OS via USB thumb drive, and my Pro was up and running! I still haven't jumped to PS5 because, frankly, there aren't a lot of games in its library I am interested in playing, and my PS4 backlog is still very deep.
@Mohammed_BigBoss I do want to own a PS5 at some point and may jump in once the announced slim model hits the market. As for 60 fps, I am not really hung up on envelope pushing graphical performance. My TV is only 1080p anyway, so a lot of that is lost on me anyway.
I got my ps4 for $199 in E Dec 2017. I usually like to be patient since I can wait. I am still enjoying it alot. Will probably keep playing it until ps5 drops to $250-300
I have PS5 and all I ever played on it is PS4 games. That being said a bunch of them have improvements such as resolution or free radio Chris so that's good
I agree, i jump into a PS5 and sold my PS4 but i feel i could have waited since most games are also still on PS4 and the jump in graphics has not been that impressive yet.. i am sure later it will be worth it, maybe once the console gets cheaper..
The best thing about ps5 isn't necessarily the graphics- even though games can look better...but because it runs games at 60 fps that the ps4 pro can't
I was late to the ps4 life cycle, I bought my first one in 2018 shortly before the announcement of ps5. That was the console that got me back into gaming after a long hiatus. I traded it in to gamestop to make my ps5 cheaper. If I bought another ps4 just for collector sake, I would get the blue days of play variant and display it proudly.
Are you me? lol I had a ps1 and ps2 but during the ps3, ps4 and ps5 I was sooooo late to the party because of money problems and health treatment. In 2018 I got my ps4 but here in Brazil a ps5 costs like 3 minimum wages so only last year I got some money so I traded in my ps4 ion a local gaming store and gave the rets of the money to finally get a ps5. I will not be late to the party during the ps6 era. Already saving money and taking care of my ps5 so I can trade it. Although I love having everything and seeing collections, I usually go full digital because of space. I don't like seein that much space filled with things when one day I might move to a new house and have to reallocate everything is pain.
@@rafaelgalindo4794 2018? I got my PS4 the summer of 2020. I was saving up for a PS5, but the pandemic was raging at the time, and I didn't even know if the world would even still BE here by the time it launched, so I decided to get PS4 in the meantime. lol Gamestop was selling them used for $249, but they said they were all out. Again, with so much uncertainty at the time, I NEEDED to come home with something, so I went to a smaller local store. Dude said he had just 1 PS4 left (probably a lie) and it would cost $408 O_O That's right. I paid 400 bucks for a BASE PS4 mere months before the PS5 dropped....and I don't eve regret it lol I LOVE my PS4.
@@rafaelgalindo4794 The ps5 was so expensive at gamestop when I bought mine. I bought it in 2021 and the bundle came with 3 games, a charging dock, an extra controller and they make you buy a gift card to get you to come back for more. It was worth it but if it wasn't for that high price (almost a grand) I would have kept my ps4 just to collect it. I like collecting more than you do it sounds like but I know what you mean on the hassle of moving. I'm in an apartment right now and I wanna sign another lease just cuz the thought of moving kills me.
Fun video! I sold my PS5 to pay the bills and bought a like new PS4 Pro for 100 bucks off of FB Marketplace. It’s pretty quiet, too. Graphically there’s still hardly any difference in games-nothing like we’ve seen from previous console generations. Sometimes I miss the increased performance in certain games, but considering the price difference it’s something I can live with for now.
Just wanted to add, I was hardcore Xbox from 2005-2017. I had the PS1 and PS2 then jumped ship to Xbox. I missed out on the entire PS3 era. I got my PS4 pro in late 2017 now I have the PS5. I jump back and forth with PS4 and PS5. Love them both!
I regretted that I sold my PSone console back in early 2000 just to get a PS2. My life was hard back at that time. I could finally find a steady job in 2010, but it was hard again with hitting higher prices of PS1 games. I decided to reclaim my memories with PS1 & some PS2 games from PS3 in its PSN store.
I know this feeling all too well. Back in 2010 i had to sell all my old systems including a Dreamcast and a gamecube with the gameboy player. For the last 3 years i have regained every system i ever had as a kid including an original nes, snes, n64, dreamcast and finally a gamecube with the gameboy player. 3 years of collecting and i now have 14 systems and over 200 games. Congrats on finding a better job btw
I just sold my PS4 slim after buying my PS5 disc drive edition on June 22 this year in 2023 with the Final Fantasy Bundle 16 together! Wish I kept it now after thinking about it but got great and very high value for my 6 year old Ps4 slim at a small business videogaming store in the mall. Long live Sony Playstation for life!🙏🔥
I used my launch PS4 from 2013 and used it till October 2022 and I'm very grateful it lasted that long and I didn't waste money on a PS4 Pro and I'm using the 4K on my T.V for the first time I got in 2013 and was more worth it waiting for a PS5 for 4K instead of PS4 Pro
As a person who is a newer member of the PlayStation community I got a used ps4 slim for $200 it hads 750 gigabytes, 2 controllers, and 3 games. I don’t want to spend over $500 on a new console for a ecosystem I wanted to just dip my toe into. But I have now fully transitioning from Xbox to PlayStation this is definitely a great pick up and I would definitely recommend this system.
I learned to make sure i buy extra controllers for whatever system i have. If you have kids, you are gonna lose a few to wear and tear. Don’t be afraid to grab an extra one to keep in closet for later.
@@shaomari1 I would actually recommend looking at how you can fix the controllers yourself or find a tech repair shop that can to. In my area there is a game shop that has so many spare ps4 controllers and i am going to learn how to clean the controller and replace parts so i am not reliant on Sony. But yeah you can never have to many spare controllers.
I wish I still had my launch PS4. The HDMI port broke and I took it to a place and they said they couldn't fix it. In the years since I've learned how to fix my own electronics, but I threw away a perfectly fixable console over something pretty small.
Well the thing about the PS5 is that yes they have started doing limited editions as the Spider-Man one has just been released but with the easily changeable face plates, the limited editions are not so special when they also sell those face plates separately. Even the controller was sold separately so really the only thing that makes this version more valuable if you try to resell is the box it comes in. This is probably why they have not done as many limited editions this time out, but they still do them.
I bought it only because those scumbag scalpers made it impossible to buy the plates. They ignored the controllers. Im not selling it til ps6 comes out
Man, if it was somehow possible for You, MJR, & Mark from CGR to somehow do a collab, that'd be an amazing video! You're all great content creators who genuinely understand gaming. Awesome video dude!
I just bought my ps4 off facebook for 80$ and it came with a headset, a controller and Call of Duty Modern Warfare. I took it apart and cleaned it out and re thermalpasted it. It definitely needed it but now it looks brand new and is quiet. I’m mainly a pc gamer but when I want to play in bed it was totally worth the money.
What a great colab!!! My worlds are colliding.... Amazing Guys!!! The wealth of knowledge between these two guys is unmeasurable. Please make more colabs like this!!!
Mystic is my favourite TH-camr! Pretty awesome that you got him on your channel! Great discussion video, in my opinion with backwards compatibility being a thing for PS5 I see no reason to buy a PS4 at all right now other than price. Even then just hold out and save to buy a PS5. Better hardware to run and load those games and you can play two generations worth of PS games to boot.
If you're on the US, sure, but for a lot of third world countries, the ps5 can costs almost as much as a car, so having the PS4 as a good option is goes a long way.
This exactly. As long as you somehow afford it, it’s absolutely worth every penny. PS4 Games run so much better on the 5. And once the PS5 Games drop in price, you can get them very cheap too. Some games sell for $9 and they are totally worth waiting for!
Fun discussion! I am still rocking my PS4 slim that I bought brand new during the Black Friday sales of 2019 for $250 Canadian plus tax, and it came with three games. Solid system with my only real complaint being the slow hard drive (which I know can be easily remedied). It just got a system update very recently too.
I am in the same boat . I have a PS4 slim that I bought 5 years ago and is still running fine . Also I have a brand new PS4 slim still in the box that is a backup just in case .
I bought my slim around the same time. It came with Spiderman, the last of us, and a digital copy of one of the horizon games. I've only played the last of us 1 and 2 and GTA5. I also have Red Dead Redemption 2 but haven't played it. Part 1 was probably my favorite ps3 game. I bought a ps5 a few months ago but haven't played anything on it. I keep buying stuff just so I can feel like I'm still a part of the gaming community, but life has been too busy the last 10 years. I still have my fat ps3 which I played like crazy at the time. Thing sounds like a lawn mower.
@@deepg7084 cool . I bought it cause it was on sale at the time 199$ can go wrong and in the PlayStation the game like the most is the gran turismo . I mostly been on Xbox since the ps3 and Xbox 360 days had lots of fun at the time on Xbox never got the chance to get a backwards compatible ps3 was too expensive Xbox was cheaper to get lot of gamer I knew recommend Xbox so I gave it a try and liked it . Been on Xbox since got the Xbox one after that then the Xbox series x . But like you I have been to busy in the last few years that I can’t really play like before just get it to be part of the gaming community. Last console I got was the switch I like the thing also but don’t have the time to play it also . Maybe in a few years when I retire hopefully I can enjoy all the games I haven’t played. Like the resident evil series last one I played was 4 . GTA Red dead redemption fallout lot of good stuff I haven’t played completely. Cheers 🍻 bro happy gaming 😁😁🍻👍👍🥃
Funny story, I just bought a PS4 Pro the other day from a local classified in a bundle with a PS3 for $180. It's my first Playstation and I'm so excited to jump into the library!
PS4 is an excellent option to get into budget gaming, and load times can be cut by about 50% when upgrading to an SSD (doing this helped tremendously with Crash Bandicoot 4, for example). However, I think if you can, you should save up for a disc PS5 to play the PS4 games at even faster loading times, also in many cases devs have patched their games to run at higher framerates. If you can get a great deal on a PS4, definitely go for it.
I disagree. PlayStation doesn’t have smart delivery. Meaning if you want the ps5 version. You have to buy the ps5 version. But don’t shoot me for saying something negative about PlayStation here. It’s just the reality I wish was better.
@ForTheViolence was like that in the beginning. Most games now you get both ps4 and ps5 versions if you buy digital. Used to always install the ps4 version too by default but it's a lot better now
@fillerbunnyninjashark271 Yes and no. PS4 Pro has the parts to support an SSD, but it won't be at the level of a Gen4 M.2 SSD. The standard PS4 does still show some improvements. It's much better to wait 30 seconds on Crash 4 than over a minute like on a mechanical drive. There's improvement in Psychonauts 2 as well.
i got my 10 yr old son a PS4 Pro a couple Christmas's ago w/ racing wheel, Move controllers, and the MKII (HDMI thru) rendition of PSVR. Since then he's got the Aim controller (for Firewall, Alvo, and Farpoint) and a HOTAS flight stick. Star wars Squadrons in PSVR is just freakin incredible FYI!!! As is Vader Immortal, Wanderer, Superhot, and soo on... A couple months back I did the whole internal SSD upgrade, and that SUBSTANTIALLY improved the overall experience IMO. Especially w/ prior long loading titles like RDR2, GTA5, and Hogwarts Legacy! As a formerly ride or die hardcore xbox fan (even after six different "open tray" & RROD bricked 360's)?!! I'm genuinely and thoroughly impressed w/ my son's PS4 Pro so far post SSD, which is somewhat of an opinion, especially about gaming, that I rarely express these days. I'm actually considering getting a second one for myself to jailbreak into some sort of potential all in one offline retro gaming EmulationStation?! To be continued...
Got one in Sept 2018 and I'm glad I did. Probably my fav console of all time. I loved VG as a kid but never took it very seriously, til I got the ps4 as a 24 year old. Still working on playing through everything, its amazing to me that people are already onto the 5 lol, I'll be playing this thing for the next 3 years at least
My first memory of the PlayStation was playing the very first demo. It had about 4-5 demo games if my memory serves me right, I’m probably wrong. But man o man, I loved it. My brother was the one who bought it, I would play it when I could. Tekken was great for its time.
I already have a PS5. But I wanna get a PS4 because I really like how they look and I want it to go in a different part of the house. But it’ll probably be a while before I get one though. Also I can’t decide between regular and pro. I probably won’t get a slim because I’m not a big fan of how that one looks.
Great to see you two together, just add Metal Jesus and the trio is complete! Really enjoy the easy to follow and understand presentation of your channels.
Playing my PS4 Pro that I aquired late due to studies and economic reasons, but love the system and have a fine library of games for it and I'm not into any need to buy myself a PS5 as the PS4 PRO is just as ood and have a great library of games and I'm like 100+ titles behind in my backlog of good games to play yet.
Early adopter of the PS3 but never got a PS4 till my friend gave me her OG PS4 a couple of years ago. She barely used it, so it looks mint and had a fw below 9.0.0. I added a 4TB hdd to it and use it a lot, even by my kids.
Mines still going strong, have the slim in my office now. Have since redone the thermal paste and upgraded to a 2TB internal SSD drive. Even with my Ps5 it still gets use when my living room TV is being used.
Put my ps4 pro back in its box April 2021 when i got my ps5 ❤ Sony Play Station is just nostalgia for me and “home”. So many fond memories with friends but also just the different stages of how life slowly changed for me. I can think of different games from the past and can recall how life was and felt….like smells of certain food that you love or relate to a certain person can trigger memories
Honestly, I have no need for a PS4 rn…..I bought a fat PS2 for like $115 two months ago and I enjoy it so much that I don’t even want the PS5 anymore 😂
I bought a PS3 back in 2007 and recently started playing games on it. It’s amazing. No need for a nExT gEn cOnSoLe because if I haven’t played it, it’s new to me!
I made the mistake once of scoring a sealed copy of Final Fantasy and showing it to my wife and she actually started tearing the plastic without thinking!!!!! My fault but I never would have expected that to happen.
Bro I got my ps4 like a month ago from eBay and it came wit 9 games and I also got playstation plus and I also bought God of war Rangorok a few days ago and I got marvels spider man from eBay and I beat it and a few days ago I beat spiderman Miles morelaes I had so much fun wit those games and imma start playing God of war Rangorok I love playstation and I fw yo content broski keep doin wut you do much love 💯
got my ps4 slim in 2017 and ive loved it ever since. Still have a massive backlog of great games to play on it and switch that I cannot justify buying a PS5 for at least another 2-3 years.
Recently, I went and bought a few myself. New - Cyberpunk 2077 for $19.99 Used - Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection $9.99 Infamous Second Son $8.99 The rest were PS3 games like: God of War Ascension $15.99 L.A. Noire $5.99 Assassin's Creed Rogue $6.99 Deus Ex Human Revolution $5.99 Mass Effect 2 +6hrs bonus $4.99 Murdered Soul Suspect $6.99 Otherwise my PS3 collection only cost on physical: Spec Ops The Line $11.99 Resistance 2 $2.99 Resistance 3 $2.99 Prototype $5.99 Killer Is Dead $9.99 Darksiders $4.99 Batman Arkham Asylum $5.00 Batman Arkham City "GOTY" $5.00 Call of Duty MW3 $1.99 Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2011 $4.99 Rage $4.99 Killzone 2 $4.99 Killzone 3 $7.00 God of War 3 $4.99 Dead Space 2 "L.E. w/extraction" $4.99 Duke Nukem Forever $6.50 Tomb Raider Trilogy "Ann., Legend, Underworld" $15.99 And the two games I got as a gift, one PS3 and one PS4 BioShock Infinite w/first BioShock Resident Evil 7 Still looking to get so much more, just having trouble finding them.
If someone is getting a PS4 to use as opposed to collecting I suggest the PS4 Pro. I didn't think there was much of a difference back when it launched but the newer games that were released do run better on a Pro. You don't need to bother upgrading the drive if you don't want to, you can just add a USB HDD or SSD. Lastly FYI Gamestop has PSVR and the cameras for cheap!
I bought both in 2020, the first model and the pro model. The reason why I bought the first model was because of the design and how it looked similar to the PS2 slim.
I just picked up a crap load of cheap PS4 games FFVII Remake, Crisis Core, GOW, a bunch of CODS, etc ..and will continue to pick up more. And got a "Like new" White PS4 Pro on facebook for 150$. Just like the PS3 i didn't start playing heavily until the end of the generation. So i have a huge catalog to enjoy as people trade in their games. : )!
It's a little SCARY that people don't REALIZE how important PS4 will be in the years to come. Like you said, it's the last system Sony will make ever make that doesn't require the matrix to use AND can be updated with a USB! It's almost as if Sony engineers wanted this way.
…Is this really bc the disc drive uses internet the first time pair. First time hearing about the USB update thing but literally you still need Internet to download the update ☠️
@TheMahayanist Hmmmm.........You may be right. The PS4 Pro REALLY can't do 4K@60fps HDR reliably. So ultimately, it's a 1080p/2K system. That counts for a lot in this market.Everything will really hinge on of the PS5 can be jail broken.
Got a PS4 fat revision 3 month ago and so far I really like the first party titles (bought a year PS Plus Deluxe subscription plan when it was 25% off). Now they hike the price and I will only buy games individually when they are on sale. Great system, I wish I had more leisure time to play more lol
@@main_tak_becus6689 they do overheat a lot if they happen to be the models that are backwards compatible and use emulation. The model that has the actual PS2 hardware built in does not overheat as much.
I bought a Ps4 brand new at my local wal-mart about 3 weeks ago. Sure it was full price and its dated but boy am I enjoying it, and thats what matters. Plus a 1 yr warranty. =)
I got 2 PS5’s one digital and one Digital and I still kept my PS4 slim and it’s still hooked up, I’m not planning on selling it or giving it away. Just in case something happens to my ps5 I’ll still have my PS4.
i might be a little bit stupid...but it just seemed like a good deal for a nice backup console. I already own a ps5...im trading it in to upgrade to a ps5 pro. i was out today, and i bought a ps4 pro for $60. i just felt like it was too good to pass up. i can hook it up with a psvr in another room with more space, and just use it as a backup ps4 game machine. could even remote play the ps5 in another room i figure.
I did this last year in November. Glad I got a PS4 new at Target. I always buy new systems and mostly used games. I’m always one game system behind and that makes gaming a little cheaper Good. Video😊
Personally, the early model slims are probably the best mainly because it’s the only Model that has 5GHz instead of 2.4GHz and it doesn’t sound like a Jet engine. However if you like a modded system. It’s probably best to stick to the early models of the ps4. EDIT: Just checked that the Ps4 Pro has 5GHz as well but I still prefer the slim imo.
i bought a used PS 4 standard edition in january 2023 for 135$ then after 3 months sold that for 130$ and saved some money and bought a PS 5 disc version 1200 model in may and its awesome.
Bro the ps5 can play multiple games at the same time, what I mean is u don't have to close the application an the controller fights u in certain games, it's an experience u need to see for yourself, the graphics is 💯% with Ray tracing
When the internal battery dies in the older ps4, that's gonna be an issue to fix unless you know someone. If you're getting a Ps4, PRO ONLY, younger, faster, stronger, enhanced graphics & with a ssd upgrade, you're looking at a Ps4.5.
I'm still using a PS4 pro and haven't gotten a ps5 yet since most new games so far still come out on ps4 still. I did get Xbox Series S which for the time and price seems good enough for me until their is a bigger shift into fully ditching last gen. Consoles.
Ever since was young, I always bought 2 systems, one at beginning, and one at the end of life cycle as a backup... So now I have a PS4 Slim, and a PS5 as like a legacy backup... Nothing is worse than having a huge phyiscal collection and the system craps out... Never had it happen yet, since I always maintain and clean mine and all of my 3 daughter's systems... But you can never be too careful with electronics... 👍
I brought a PS4 Pro the newer one with 7 physical games (No Sports games) and 2 digital games loaded in the HDD with 2 controllers for 180 dollars. That's including tax and shipping. It was in pretty good condition. A good sign if the system was used is to look at the controllers. If the controllers were beat up and dirty, then the console will most likely have problems. I took the time and opened up the top case and cleaned out the fan. I still haven't gotten around to replacing the thermal paste yet. But the system is already running great as is.
i had the ps3, never got the ps4. been hesitant, but now the ps5 is out, and considering it plays ps4 games too, id rather get the ps5. especially because compared to the ps4, the ps5 is quiet! and faster. i couldnt see why to get a ps4 now vs a ps5, except for the price. i was late to the party and got a switch super late (when it came out with the oled version). one big reason is the versatility for tv/handheld. and i play handhelds more often. i love it. so thats another reason to do the ps5 with the ps portal. i would only consider the ps4 if there was a way to mod it to be quiet and quicker.
I think keeping the system clean and refurbed every few years while also making sure to give it proper airflow will keep a PS4 quiet! I recently learned how to refurb the 2015 models and now that system is as quiet as a mouse. Then again, I hadn’t really encountered much of the ‘jet engine’ issues in the first place across two different 2015 model revision systems. And I haven’t really played many hardware intensive games this generation. But I swear it’s so cool and so silent now. Beautiful! Though I completely understand why you’d rather just skip it and grab the PS5 next XD I hope you get to have some good fun playing PS4 & PS5 games soon enough! (I love that each video game console has it’s own unique sounds XD)
My first PlayStation experience was playing tekken 1 and battle arena Toshiden over my best friend Wayne’s house when it first came out. God can almost remember his bedroom set up when I walked in and tekken 1 was playing a demo on the tv.
I just stumbled across a working secondhand Star Wars BF2 Pro console for $125, HAD to snag it. The Ps4 has such a great library and can't wait to dig back into it, and at that price point I couldn't resist.
I always wonder why commercials for games show very little game play if any. Back in the Atari days they didn't show gameplay because it was terrible. If they just show the gameplay the games would sell more. Just wanted to put that out there. Any thoughts?
My recommendation to anyone looking to get a PS4. Get the third revision of the PS4 Pro. You will find the starting at $120 up, but definitely worth it. Model number 7215B. Put a 4tb ssd in it, learn how to clean and apply new thermal pads and paste. Plenty of TH-cam tutorials to watch. It runs whisper quiet when playing from the ssd.
I got my original PS4 a day before launch (preorered through walmart) on November 14th 2013 if memory serves. It's such a great system. Only issue I've had with it is the disc started randomly ejecting so I took it apart and put a piece of black electrical tape over the gold contact which static caused to activate is what I read. I can't use the tough sensitive eject button now but it can be ejected through the menu so no big deal to me.
If loved the 360 so much I went and got a new one months before they stopped production. Seems like a good idea to replace old used up hardware that wasn’t that reliable to begin with. I didn’t do that for PS4 though because the 5 had the full compatibility. I’m debating keeping my old Betsy or trading it.
i love my ps4 pro, games for CHEAP or free also for other... runs high framerate on 1080p and even 2k in some games. when cleaned corectly, its super silent. i would not buy a ps5 today....
I got my PS4 last year from Game. Ended up buying the Pro model but didn't realise until I got home. Have been collecting physical games but now switched to PS5 kept my PS4 and glad I have
Never comment on videos but I just got a ps4 after a hiatus of 4y from ps3 and Im loving it. Bought the extended storage (recommend) I dont have plans on a ps5 anytime soon. HFW,NFSH, Mass effect trilogy, Loving them all right now !
I'm 41 and have got a ps5, series x and Nintendo switch OLED. If somebody ask me which I prefer and had to keep, I honestly couldn't decide, as they all have there merits and great games etc. I play the ps5 for mainly GT7.
I got a 2 Terabyte PS4 Pro for $300 in August 2021. Still perfectly happy with it and don’t feel the need to upgrade to a PS5 for another Couple Years. I mostly play older games and the New Games coming out that I do Play are always on PS4 too.
Too late. I bought my PS4Pro last week from Gamestop for 200 bucks. I know I know, it's expansive. PS2 is still my all-time favorite console though. Played that thing to death.
I'm still rocking the ps3😂... But I decided I'll get a ps4... Found the call of duty 3 special edition slim (army green w/ camo)... I might try my luck with one of those😂 but you know what I really want.... I want a PS vita 2, I like the Nintendo switch because it's portable and dockable I just wish they'd come out with a Vita that does the same damn stuff basically... I was so disappointed with the portal, what is a good accessory if you have a Ps5... Tried my sons
I've bought and stored some brand new PS4's, PS4 Slims and PS4 Pros. I'll sell them in 10yrs or so, bundle them with sealed launch games to ramp up that nostalgia for buyers. Consoles don't drop in price like they used to. Back in the day they discounted PS1's and PS2's to £60 and £90 each to clear stock back. Yeah, £60 for PS1's and £90 for PS2's.They were left sat on shelves as people were done with them and had moved onto the next big thing. So I purchased a bunch of them and left them sealed. I sold them in lockdown for thousands each.
I've been rocking my launch PS4 this whole time. I love it so much. I'm tempted to buy another PS4 but assumed I would buy the new PS5 model whenever it comes out and then use the old PS5 model for PS4 games.
Man Tekken 3 was my favorite game on ps1. Hworang or however his name is spelled like was always my favorite. My brother and I would spend hours in the training mode to try and figure out all the combos. Remember once we did we’d invite our neighborhood friends to have a tournament & we’d kick their behinds. Good times. 😅
I skipped the ps4 generation I started with ps3 until recently I pick up a ps5 and mostly have been getting ps4 games on it. Lol I have 2 ps5 games and 15 ps4 games so I'm actually expecting the ps4 generation on this ps5. Lol 😅 😊
Good topic guys. Thanks for the great list of games. Yes, I think that the Sony PlayStation 4 is one of the great consoles, the only thing that is a little wrong for me is that people are not so enthusiastic about it, and if the Sony PlayStation 4 console was relevant until yesterday, somehow it seems to me that the Sony PlayStation 5 has somehow gone into the background . The Sony PlayStation 4, especially the Pro version, is a great buy and solution as a budget console. Of course, for those nostalgic like me, you can also buy a Sony PlayStation 1,2 or 3, which is great for older video games. Great video. Like. 😄👍
Thank you
I tossed a nice 2 Tb SSD in my PS4 Pro last time I cleaned it out. It makes a big difference on load times
@@FroggyTWrite Nice, thank you for reminding me, HDDs are super.important to replace too. Like you said makes a difference in menu speeds and loading times
Nice advice.
Had mine 7 years, still going strong
I'm 55 years old so I consider myself an OG of video games going all the way back to the 80s when ATARI was around. This was a great review and I look forward to more content from this channel.
Remember pong in the 70s?
Liar
My wife said “Don’t you already have a PS4?” And I said “But it ain’t a Pro !” 😂
I switched to X box just before cross platform became a thing and I missed my Gran Turismo.
Now that's a DEAL.
@Mohammed_BigBoss I do want to own a PS5 at some point and may jump in once the announced slim model hits the market. As for 60 fps, I am not really hung up on envelope pushing graphical performance. My TV is only 1080p anyway, so a lot of that is lost on me anyway.
What does borked mean? I've never heard that word in my life
I got my ps4 for $199 in E
Dec 2017. I usually like to be patient since I can wait. I am still enjoying it alot. Will probably keep playing it until ps5 drops to $250-300
@sofa_kingcool985 probably meaning fried or broken
I'm 44, and I'm still playing games on my PS4 Pro. So far, I haven't felt a need to get a PS5 yet. Thanks for the video.
You’re welcome
I have PS5 and all I ever played on it is PS4 games. That being said a bunch of them have improvements such as resolution or free radio Chris so that's good
Majority of the games on ps5 are not worth it in my opinion. You should wait til Black Friday or just wait another year for the ps5 pro.
Are you me? lol
I had a ps1 and ps2 but during the ps3, ps4 and ps5 I was sooooo late to the party because of money problems and health treatment.
2018 was perfect to buy a PS4
@@87donofrio oh yeah. Still have all my games.
I did exactly the same thing!
@raymondecho i haven’t played Xbox since “High on Life” came out. It’s mainly PS4 + PS5 for me.
Just confused I though the ps5 plays ps4 games whats missing from the ps5 thats on the ps4?. Ps4 pro user here.
@@1080ilowres no you’re right. My library is large and I share both HDDs. Not every single PS4 game is compatible with PS5 but a large portion is.

I regretted that I sold my PSone console back in early 2000 just to get a PS2. My life was hard back at that time. I could finally find a steady job in 2010, but it was hard again with hitting higher prices of PS1 games. I decided to reclaim my memories with PS1 & some PS2 games from PS3 in its PSN store.
sold my Sega genesis, cd, 32x combo and Saturn for a PS1, and regretted it. know how you feel.
PS2 can play PS1 games
I know this feeling all too well. Back in 2010 i had to sell all my old systems including a Dreamcast and a gamecube with the gameboy player. For the last 3 years i have regained every system i ever had as a kid including an original nes, snes, n64, dreamcast and finally a gamecube with the gameboy player. 3 years of collecting and i now have 14 systems and over 200 games. Congrats on finding a better job btw
I think all PlayStations play PS1 games

No need for ps5. Keep the ps4 and wait for ps5 pro.
@@jRex918 that has a disc drive.
Series s goes on sale for 250 consistently. It's current gen hardware, not last generation.
Oh ?
If you're on the US, sure, but for a lot of third world countries, the ps5 can costs almost as much as a car, so having the PS4 as a good option is goes a long way.
exactly
This exactly. As long as you somehow afford it, it’s absolutely worth every penny. PS4 Games run so much better on the 5. And once the PS5 Games drop in price, you can get them very cheap too.
Some games sell for $9 and they are totally worth waiting for!
Fun discussion! I am still rocking my PS4 slim that I bought brand new during the Black Friday sales of 2019 for $250 Canadian plus tax, and it came with three games. Solid system with my only real complaint being the slow hard drive (which I know can be easily remedied). It just got a system update very recently too.
Yes 😊me too I got mines in Black Friday deal 2018 ps 4 slim with spider man bundle for 199$ at target . Still play it .
Crazy I just got home from buying a ps4 and saw this video pop up. What are the odds? My weekend going to be experiencing red dead 2
Great to see you guys doing a video together and what an awesome topic to cover. I love the PS4! Great system for the money.
Those brand new slim models were just maden so they probably already have built in ssd?
SSDs will never be used properly by your PS4.
One word for a game you should definitely get for the PS4 if you have not played it all the way through it is absolutely phenomenal:
Days Gone
Great colab. I still play on my ps4 and still vetry much enjoying the awesome collection.

PS2 is my absolute all-time favorite game console ever to me I think the PS2 is The King Of All Game Consoles

Great to see you talking Playstation 4 with Ryan Mystic. I would like to see you do more interviews with others on Playstation topics. congrats.

Good. Video😊
Personally, the early model slims are probably the best mainly because it’s the only Model that has 5GHz instead of 2.4GHz and it doesn’t sound like a Jet engine.
However if you like a modded system. It’s probably best to stick to the early models of the ps4.

i bought a used PS 4 standard edition in january 2023 for 135$ then after 3 months sold that for 130$ and saved some money and bought a PS 5 disc version 1200 model in may and its awesome.
This is a great video! I learned about a few games to be on the look out for on the PS4.
Awesome my dude
my ps4 from 2014 is still rockin, im waiting until they stop supporting new games for ps4 until they do that ill buy a ps5
LEGENDARY COLLAB 🔥
That Namco controller, we will never get that sort of out-of-the-box innovation ever again! We didn't know how good we had it back then.
I have not even bothered with the Ps5, i have just stuck with my pro and slim ps4, as i have not seeen anything on the Ps5 that is a must.
spiderman 2 ???
@@LCJammernot yet. Can wait more for that
Bro the ps5 can play multiple games at the same time, what I mean is u don't have to close the application an the controller fights u in certain games, it's an experience u need to see for yourself, the graphics is 💯% with Ray tracing
@@JRoosoMhm. It’s also 500 bucks.
Just bought a playstation 4 pro and vr. Im 42 with a 4 and 6 year old
The only criticism I have of this video is that it was only 28 min long...This could've/should've been at least 1 full hr!
When the internal battery dies in the older ps4, that's gonna be an issue to fix unless you know someone. If you're getting a Ps4, PRO ONLY, younger, faster, stronger, enhanced graphics & with a ssd upgrade, you're looking at a Ps4.5.
Mystic is the guy! So good too see him on the channel. Great Video Steve
Thank you buddy
Great video : )
I just purchased a PSP Go in 2023
I'm still using a PS4 pro and haven't gotten a ps5 yet since most new games so far still come out on ps4 still.
Hi. Video was good but LOW audio couldn`t even hear you guys. :(
Ok but did you turn up your volume. Easy fix
@@MrWrightWay Its the audio balance between sound effects to mic volume that needs work, great vid and topic otherwise enjoyed it.
@@PandaTruenoo yea I noticed. It’s not bad but not the norm. Thanks again
@@victorvargas9330 your so sensitive
Nice content on PS4 unit i have the standard fat version. The games and the story is fine for me nothing more.
I can't use the tough sensitive eject button now but it can be ejected through the menu so no big deal to me.
the collab i've been waiting for! 2 of my favorite creators!
Keep it
Damn! Me being from Buffalo never expected a Buffalo shout out, nor did I know we had such a big creator in our city
Stil have my ps4 pro even after I got the ps5
Sometimes i feel like playing a game idk which one it's whatever I'm feeling like . Much love. Stay hydrated
i love my ps4 pro, games for CHEAP or free also for other... runs high framerate on 1080p and even 2k in some games. when cleaned corectly, its super silent. i would not buy a ps5 today....
I got my PS4 last year from Game. Ended up buying the Pro model but didn't realise until I got home. Have been collecting physical games but now switched to PS5 kept my PS4 and glad I have
My friend just sold me his PS4 for $50 with 2 controllers 10 games😎
Awesome
Just got a 500 gig slim off mercari for 94 bux..dude changed out the pads paste battery etc..running like a million bux & I'm lovin it
I'm still rocking the ps3😂...
Great content as usual 👏 I love the playstation systems I still have all off them lol 😂
Lol
I have 2 ps5 games and 15 ps4 games so I'm actually expecting the ps4 generation on this ps5. Lol 😅 😊
Tekken 3 was my first game (fav Paul) and Metal Gear Solid 2nd
Loved them
Good topic guys. Like. 😄👍
