Such a good topic to cover for a video! I had been wondering the exact same thing and never thought I'd be able to see an actual high-quality breakdown between the PS4 Pro and the PS5 Pro‼️🙏💯✊🔥
Thank you so much! This video actually showed me how many PS4/PS4 Pro fans prefer their consoles over the PS5. It really shows how big of shoes they had to fill with the new consoles.
Everyone needs to stop buying digital copies. If your PlayStation account gets hacked or banned you are finished. PSN once blocked my account for a week. Imagine i had all my games on there digitally, I'd have to buy them all over again. It was so bad I couldn't do anything on my Playstation, like watch TH-cam or something. I had to make a temporary account. I bought the ps4 pro in 2020 and got the ps5 as a bday gift in 2021. I sometimes to do use the ps4, but the ps5 is just more smoother & the feel to it is better. Playing games, ps4 pro has delays in graphics whereas the ps5 is fast and also less noisy. I've also added a 1tb wd hard drive on the ps5 so i can have more games inside it. Its only worth getting the lastest version if you haven't got either.
Wow, yeah I've heard of this happening before too and the worst thing is I've also heard of people getting banned for the wrong reason, etc. and now they have to wait through an appeals process.
True story I was scrolling through TH-cam and your video was the only one that actually had an interesting title/idea about the ps5 p4o as all others have just been complaining only videos which have lost my interest slowly but yours is genius, and right at the beginning with the presentation I enjoyed the feel of professionalism and when you said you have 0 subscribers as of the making of this video I literally stopped and came across your channel which I have never done before good stuff 👏👏👏
This truly means a lot, thank you for the feedback. Even I'm surprised at the reception of the video in such a short time. Glad I can talk about a topic I really enjoy and people seem to like it! Currently planning the next one.
i still have a ps3,ps4 pro and ps5 and i gotta say when i got the ps4 pro you could see changes but with ps5 pro it seems so non existent on changes whether with ps4 pro you could see extraordinary changes such as 4K etc and boost mode
I think once we get some hands on time we'll be able to really tell. At least I hope so. I agree I remember when I first threw Red Dead 2 into my PS4 Pro, I was amazed by how good it looked.
I'm on the opposite spectrum, got a ps1, ps2 and ps3, intending on getting a used ps4 pro down the line, although i'm mainly a pc gamer, i love playstation too, especially the older ones
@@icy1007 Yeah we'll see about that when the reviews come out. But i'm perfectly fine with my ps4 pro and planning on building me a new pc in the future.
@@icy1007 Like what exactly? Because I saw the spider-man 2 review and honestly it doesn't look that much different. I also saw horizon zero dawn, ratchet & clank, and days gone. They may look slightly and I mean slightly different on ps5 pro and have a little better framerate but that's about it from what i've seen.
Everyone needs to understand it’s the power that makes the consoles more expensive you want your games to play better your console needs be very powerful
The target audience for the PS5 Pro is even more niche than that: • “Enthusiasts” of games created by Sony subsidized game developers (given the eventual tiny install base it makes little sense for regular developers to dedicate resources to optimize specifically for the PS5 Pro) • Owners of 8K displays who are willing to pay for a different, guess‑timate fidelity experience via PSSR (given that even in PC games the source tends to render at just 1440p before being upscaled). There is also the implicit signal towards the 50% of the PSN customer base still on PS4 to just cough up the cash and get a standard PS5 at 449.99/499.99 or perhaps a certified refurbished console at 349.99/399.99. However if Pro pricing is also representative of what to expect for PS6 it also signals “console gamers” that “Sony gaming” may be too rich for their blood going forward. Given that some PC-first games have *only* been ported to Switch due to the attractive install base, if Nintendo can transfer that to the Switch 2 (barring Wii U syndrome) for around $400 then it may be the only “true console” left next generation. Comparison's of consoles, including the Pro, with PC are specious: • Thanks to the cross-gen gaming landscape it was possible to game on a standard PS4 for 11 years (2013) and PS4 Slim/Pro 8 years (2016). That would have been difficult to pull off during the same period on a gaming PC without upgrades given that typical PC game developers don't seem to value delivering an acceptable experience to older hardware (constrained but stable, consistent console specs may not be convenient but tend to be more straightforward to optimize for). • In JayzTwoCents recent “$700 Custom PC vs PS5 Pro... FIGHT!” it was clear that the $700 price point is awkward-it would make perfect sense to spend $800 to get the more recent upscaling technology. So typically PC Gaming either means frugal and adept handling of the used market (outside of the interest of the mainstream) or spending more to get the most bang for the buck in the new market (still not mainstream). 2016: 299 PS4 Slim 399 PS4 Pro For a 34% price increase: 30% CPU and 100% GPU boost (Forbes citing Sony) 2024: 449.99 PS5 Digital (no disk) 699.99 PS5 Pro (no disk) For a 56% price increase: Optional 10% CPU boost 67% GPU boost Sony proprietary guess‑timate upscaling The key bit of information here is that there is no CPU boost unless the developer specially optimizes for PS5 Pro and given its inevitably small install base there is little economical incentive to do so unless the developer is subsidized by Sony. Furthermore higher frame rates would require more CPU and 10% isn't going to cut it which is consistent with the same frame performance but maximum *perceived* fidelity messaging of the PS5 Pro. But given that 75% of gamers select “performance mode” on PS5 it's questionable that this segment would spend 56% more to improve perceived fidelity with the *the same* frame rate performance. The remaining 25% already settled for a lower frame rate to experience improved perceived fidelity-so it's questionable whether they would be willing to pay 56% more to improve their frame rate; unless they already have an 8K display and even more money to burn.
Eeeh, if you bought high end in 2013 you could still be gaming on it today, but it would of had to have been top of the line or near enough 2016 though would be absolutely doable, the 1060, while far from amazing these days, can still run modern games (that don’t need mesh shaders) at reasonable performance if you tone down the settings
@@Coliflower185 In 2013 a PS4 was $399-during that time people talked about a $2500 budget for a “high end” PC. And in 2016 the PS4 slim was $299 while a GTX 1060 was MSRP: $249, Founders $299 (still missing the other components to build a rig). So that comparison really doesn't work.
Thank you so much! Agree if Xbox turned up the heat on the console war we may see more competitive pricing. However, Xbox is going the complete opposite direction and now calling every device that can stream with Game Pass "an Xbox." So I'm curious what they'll do in 2025.
I just dont like the idea of a "PRO" console refresh 3 years after you bought your console. So now you're supposed to feel like an amateur with your original console?! There should only be one of each generation, full stop. All they're doing, with the fidelity vs performance is turning consoles into PCs. Im literally at the point where I'm about to forsake the consoles and just go PC Master race. Goodbye Sony and Xbox
Instead of taking 2 consoles and then their pro models I got a 100-1200 dollars PC. And it has been great decision this gen. I recently even completed GOW3 on PC with 50+ FPS, VRR, and 1080 p because it was on a laptop. It's something that not even pro can do.
@@observer.b_e_l_l_i_s Switch 2 will have Nvidia tech so expect Frame Generation too on that. With that alone it could rock 60 fps on that little screen.
Instead of Pro..i kinda love the "slim" concept..a slim design of the original one..with new and more efficient APU..without sacrificing any performance lost..
PS4 Pro is the same as og PS4 but stuff is rendered in 4k quality, PS5 Pro is the same as PS5 but with slight AI scaling & saturated pixels (PSSR). Overall the differences are barely noticeable, watch the graphics comparisons & see for yourself.
I personally noticed a small difference in draw distance and distant details. But that was a spot-the-difference on a static image. I'm certain in actual gameplay, the only noticeable difference would be a steadier 60fps
9:14 For the GPU row you are showing the compute performance rated in TFlops. The PS5 Pro's CPU has 67% more compute units than the PS5 so it should say "67% more", not "45% faster". That 45% being quoted is taking into account the extra compute and the extra memory speed, not just the compute. It should be about ~17 TFlops for the PS5 Pro GPU.
PS4 Pro has a incredible design. It fits flawless in my interior. The PS5 and the pro look like a abomination. They should fire the one who accepted these horrible designs
According to my research, PS4 Pro got a 2,1 GHz CPU, not 2,3 GHz. But the most interesting is the GPU performance boost! PS4 Pro: 128% more GFLOPS/TFLOPS PS5 Pro: "up to 45% faster graphics" So PS4 Pro more than doubled the performance. PS5 Pro cannot even reach 50% more... Launch prices? I'm not 100% sure but my research... PS4 349 dollar (500 GB) PS4 Slim 500 GB 299 dollar PS4 Pro 1 TB 399 dollar So PS4 Pro was 50 dollar more expensive. And added 4K, Toslink out, faster wifi, one extra USB port... PS5 Digital (2020) costed 400 dollar? PS5 Pro 2024 (Digital) is 300 dollar more expensive. Not a 50 dollar bump. It's a 300 dollar bump! I know, SSD is more expensive than HDD per gigabyte but it's four years later and 2 TB should not cost that much in 2024-2026? I think it's a wrong thing to call it "Pro". They should brand it "PS5 Deluxe Edition" instead. It's a good performance boost but the marketing and the price is bad... it's not a good enough value! It's also interesting how Sony has find the release window around the 2nd week in November for their consoles. Of course it's about doing a as good Q4 as possible. I hope Sony can add a PS5 Pro with Bluray included for 50 dollar more. And sell it for 550 and 600 dollar or 600 and 650. Plus include the new Astro Bot game! This will increase the value a lot and probably sell crazy many more units!
PS4 pro in 2024 is ps5 but in 1080p. It's still a very capable machine. It can still run games like RE4 remake at 60 fps performance mode. It can play jedi survivor but at 30 fps. It can also play new games like metaphor in 60 fps.
Great video 👍🏽 Also, the PS4 Pro was a really good looking console; one of the best, if not the best, looking ones I've ever seen. That triple slate design is still a classic. I can't say the same for the PS5 or PS5 Pro which look like stuffed folders.
@@emperornike Appreciate the idea. I plan on covering all consoles/games here so I'm sure I'll do some type of Xbox video too. I have a bunch of ideas.
Minor feedback, the prices should have been adjusted to 2016 dollars for a true comparison (PS4 Pro vs PS5 Pro). That would make the PS5 Pro with disc drive, $595. Not as a dramatic, but it is still $195 more in 2016 dollars! The regular PS5 Slim comes in at $381, which is awesome value!
For you the pro is well worth it.. GT7 will be the poster child for why someone should buy the upgrade. Most people only want it to feel up to date just in case GTA 6 comes out soon.. and the better GPU makes it even better! It’s a great upgrade for high end true next generation games and set ups
I may just get it so I can do a review or first impressions on this channel upon launch, but otherwise wouldn’t see myself buying this day one unless there was some really compelling footage/reviews that state it’s a truly different experience.
Its a a refined experience. That's all it is. Games will be 1440p minimum and 60 fps shouldn't dip. If you care about slightly blurry games or screen tear it's probably a good up-grade as the pro will improve both. Disk drive is important for me as I'm old.. also don't like that digital is usually more expensive than physical...
I see what you were doing with your inflation chart but there’s something else there to note. Since 2013, we have gotten more than 5x+ the performance at less than 2x the cost (on those with published numbers). Like yeah you can make the point that PlayStations are more in real dollars but the dollars paid per unit of performance actually gets much better overtime.
The irony of the inventors of the blu ray creating an artificial demand for a disc drive that they chose not to include with their video game console is too much for me to handle…
I’m thinking that I’ll wait 4 years and see how many revisions the ps5 pro goes through, pick up the best model at the end like I did with the ps4 pro. I put a 4tb ssd in my 4 Pro, cleaned it out completely and repasted and thermal padded it. Runs great, runs whisper quiet.
I just bought a ps5 pro. The Best Buy I went to only had them in stock. I was sick (and still am), so I didn’t want to shop at multiple locations to get a slim or original. With a controller charger and the stand, everything ran me $803 after tax. I wasn’t able to get the disc drive because it was on back order, and it probably still is.
I should add that the pro can natively run 8K, but only two games are taking advantage of that, and they’re both racing games. And it does ship with a 2tb hard drive. And one more thing, it functions as a slightly less-than-decent space heater.
Good video but that inflation calculation was completely wrong. Should adjust old prices from 2013, 2016 to current year. Sony could sell PS5Pro for 599 (1TB SSD) instead 699 (2TB SSD) but they won't thanks to lack of competition. Xbox is not releasing their pro model and they are asking for Series X with 2TB (Galaxy) for 599 :D
Good video, only mistake is the inflation, it doesn't make sense because the PS5 PRO didn't exist back then in 2013, if you adjust the inflation to 2024 you'll realize that the PRO is not that expensive compared to a 2013 PS4, instead dollar lost value year after year.
The Best comparison video I've seen so far for the PS5 pro . Definitely does not seen worth it to get a PS5 Pro. In my opinion, it's better to stick with PS4 Pro or go with a PS5 / PS5 slim at most.
The thing that freaks me out the most about the PS5 Pro is the lack of disc drive...the price is already a nightmare but the lack of disc drive demotivates me even if I had the cash. Most of the time when I play console I want the solid copies of the games if possible...PS5 standard used there is a possibility if it goes on sale. PS5 Pro can go collect dust in their store for all I care and I didn't buy PS4 Pro in the first place as the original did everything I wanted. The PS5 Pro went the extra mile to be a problem though.
Great video, very professional. I believe Sony knows the demographic that will buy the Pro and they would buy one at any price. It might be too expensive for some (me) but it has the right price point for the buyer.
Thank you! I agree, but it also gives me some concerns on how much the PS6 will cost, and whether it too will be offered without a disk drive. Reminds me of when Apple did away with the 3.5mm jack and we either got a lightning dongle to attach headphones or went full Bluetooth/wireless headphones.
@@GaminGadgets I know it's a radical thought but I suspect PS6 will be a VR only console. Check out Apple Vision Pro--iPad in your face; Apple drove USB adoption. So no physical media.
@@michaelhill6453 I would be shocked if it was truly VR-only, but to that point I really think VR will be making more of a mainstream impact in the next 2-5 years as tech and wearability improves. I think Meta Quest 2 sold something like 20 million units, but they've had difficulty retaining. Not nearly as many Meta Quest 3 sales. That said, I have been on the fence on buying PSVR 2.
Only way I see myself buying it is if they had some type of trade in program, trade in ur old one and get the new one for $200 or $300 more for example.
I did view a video here on TH-cam that stated that Sony was adamant about not selling consoles for following the PlayStation five at a loss anymore as they did with the PS five initially back when Covid was a threat. They plan on actually releasing it at a pricenot at a loss but at making revenue and that is my understanding as to why the price is $700 stateside

Everyone needs to understand it’s the power that makes the consoles more expensive you want your games to play better your console needs be very powerful
The target audience for the PS5 Pro is even more niche than that:
• “Enthusiasts” of games created by Sony subsidized game developers (given the eventual tiny install base it makes little sense for regular developers to dedicate resources to optimize specifically for the PS5 Pro)
• Owners of 8K displays who are willing to pay for a different, guess‑timate fidelity experience via PSSR (given that even in PC games the source tends to render at just 1440p before being upscaled).
Comparison's of consoles, including the Pro, with PC are specious:
• Thanks to the cross-gen gaming landscape it was possible to game on a standard PS4 for 11 years (2013) and PS4 Slim/Pro 8 years (2016).
2016:
299 PS4 Slim
399 PS4 Pro
For a 34% price increase:
30% CPU and 100% GPU boost (Forbes citing Sony)
2024:
449.99 PS5 Digital (no disk)
699.99 PS5 Pro (no disk)
For a 56% price increase:
Optional 10% CPU boost
67% GPU boost
Sony proprietary guess‑timate upscaling
The key bit of information here is that there is no CPU boost unless the developer specially optimizes for PS5 Pro and given its inevitably small install base there is little economical incentive to do so unless the developer is subsidized by Sony.
These are all great points, if I didn't already have a comment pinned, this would be it!
Eeeh, if you bought high end in 2013 you could still be gaming on it today, but it would of had to have been top of the line or near enough
2016 though would be absolutely doable, the 1060, while far from amazing these days, can still run modern games (that don’t need mesh shaders) at reasonable performance if you tone down the settings
So that comparison really doesn't work.

great video! I particularly think the lack of competition from xbox makes sony more comfortable on putting hefty price tags
Switch 2 may deal a serious blow.

According to my research, PS4 Pro got a 2,1 GHz CPU, not 2,3 GHz.
But the most interesting is the GPU performance boost!
PS4 Pro: 128% more GFLOPS/TFLOPS
PS5 Pro: "up to 45% faster graphics"
So PS4 Pro more than doubled the performance. PS5 Pro cannot even reach 50% more...
Launch prices? I'm not 100% sure but my research...
PS4 349 dollar (500 GB)
PS4 Slim 500 GB 299 dollar
PS4 Pro 1 TB 399 dollar
So PS4 Pro was 50 dollar more expensive.

I still haven’t watched the reveal trailer because of the price
And people were complaining about the PS3 being 500$, WITHOUT inflation back in 2006

@@emperornike Appreciate the idea. I plan on covering all consoles/games here so I'm sure I'll do some type of Xbox video too. I have a bunch of ideas.
The worst thing is it will still have 30fps games because the CPU needed an upgrade or way bigger overclock than we’re getting.
Just bought a ps4 slim after years of wanting one and i couldn't be happier, there's nothing on ps5 that i want to play that isn't on the ps4
I wonder how Jedi Survivor will run on PS4?
Its a a refined experience. That's all it is. Games will be 1440p minimum and 60 fps shouldn't dip.
If you care about slightly blurry games or screen tear it's probably a good up-grade as the pro will improve both.
Disk drive is important for me as I'm old.. also don't like that digital is usually more expensive than physical...
thank you for amazing content! ❤

Love the Runescape background music
I’m thinking that I’ll wait 4 years and see how many revisions the ps5 pro goes through, pick up the best model at the end like I did with the ps4 pro. I put a 4tb ssd in my 4 Pro, cleaned it out completely and repasted and thermal padded it. Runs great, runs whisper quiet.
Great video🎉
Thank you!
Great video!
Thank you!
Thanks for the feedback and agreed. A few others pointed this out too so I pinned one of the comments.
I'll get a PS5 Pro once it costs $150
Good video, only mistake is the inflation, it doesn't make sense because the PS5 PRO didn't exist back then in 2013, if you adjust the inflation to 2024 you'll realize that the PRO is not that expensive compared to a 2013 PS4, instead dollar lost value year after year.
Thanks for the feedback and agreed. A few others pointed this out too so I pinned one of the comments.
The Best comparison video I've seen so far for the PS5 pro . Definitely does not seen worth it to get a PS5 Pro. In my opinion, it's better to stick with PS4 Pro or go with a PS5 / PS5 slim at most.
Thank you! I think you’re right for the majority of people.
The PS5 Pro went the extra mile to be a problem though.
lmaoo is that runescape music in the background?
It sure is :)
I find it really annoying that no ones talking about how the ps4 pro also was barely any noticeable upgrade
That said, I have been on the fence on buying PSVR 2.
this just foreshadows that a PS6 will be around the 1k mark...
They plan on actually releasing it at a pricenot at a loss but at making revenue and that is my understanding as to why the price is $700 stateside
stop with the 700 dollar ps5 pro, lowest price is 950. stop scam why?
09:15 Actually in addition to the 8 gigs of GDDR5 memory the PS4 Pro had an additional 1GB of DRAM for background apps which ultimately gave devs an additional half a gig for their games.
Ps6 pro will start at $999 mark my word 😂
Whew this would be wild.
