Good morning! One thing to add on the short sleeves. Being a Construction Supervisor in Los Angeles, short sleeves are a need for me. Taylor Stitch makes some great fitting short sleeves button ups. A cheaper option would be RVCA woven button ups, they fit fantastic and are pretty durable. Have a great day!
Two things: a shout out for Tin Duck Denim -would love to see you review it. I have the 10 oz waxed canvas trucker with a wool lining, and Jason did an amazing job on it. And…love this show -thanks for putting it together for us.
Brave star has a pre-order for a chambray in both blue and a grey/ black shade. 120ish, summer wear that won't break the bank. And it comes in big boy sizes.
Yeah, I got my first IH UHW and a Freenote 11oz Heavy flannel and they are both amazing but the fit of the Freenote hooked me. I also prefer their buttons and some other details too. Great great stuff. I have six of their flannels now lol
Good morning! Viberg is interesting to me, but I recently bought a White’s MP Sherman and a John Lofgren Combat boot, and I might have reached peak boot when I include my Red Wings and Wesco’s! I own a couple of great Freenote Cloth items that are fantastic. I had a chance to try on the FC CPO shirt in a medium that actually fit even though I am normally a large. The CPO in my normal size would be more of a shacket, but I guess that is the point. Thanks, Carl!
Definitely a nice piece to use as a light jacket/shacket as you mentioned. Anything that high cut is hardly a shirt in my opinion, but that's a good thing!
@@CoffeeWithCarl1 the fit is spot on! I went with a small, which I normally wear, and I can layer underneath it. I am 5’11 and about 170 lb for reference.
Love Albert! Had the opportunity to meet him and CJ at one of his events and it was fantastic. On my boot journey I picked up a pair of whites mp boots, took them 6 months to make the first pair but they didn’t fit and I had to get a bigger pair made so now I gotta wait another 6 months 😢. Also Sashiko is so cool, I might need to get into a pair of sashiko pants or a jacket this fall!
Great rundown Carl. Seems like sashiko is the new hotness. Seeing it pop up all over. Railcar Fine Goods has their chore coat available in indigo sashiko and I gotta say, I'm interested. Looks a little more refined than denim or canvas.
Goodness gracious, that green IH shirt looked so good. One of the best shirts I've seen in a while but $290 for a shirt may cost me my marriage though 😂😂
Hey Carl! Love this series, completely agree with you on the Truguard Lites. I work at a RW store in NE and the valuation of the new model is odd. The upper is leather but given a weird texture that makes them feel cheap. Wasnt impressed by the insole they used for them either. The only customer ive seen try them on said they felt too stiff and hard. Granted, our store is ruled by the wedge sole, but for the price, the OG traction tred series in the main work line has a better value. Leather welt, and the upper is pretty tough. Our guys complain about the life span of wedge soles, but work such long hours they can never give up the softness of them for more durability. I dont see many of our customers switching to these.
This is great insight! The knees and back love wedge soles despite their short life. All the more reason to ensure your boots are resoleable. How has the reception been on the Apex?
We went through our first run of them pretty quickly. Jury's still out on durability, but a lot of people seem to like how light they are. Alot of customers will not touch the american work line after they feel the weight. Haven't seen a pair come in for repairs or a warranty return yet so I assume they're doing alright out there. Might have to get back to you in a few more months, see if anyone comes in for a new pair.
Some awesome products there! I don’t think you can overdue mental illness! I’m on your mailing list always like to recap with your email! Wish I could be part of your patreon but money is tight! Always love watching your videos and I tell whoever I can to watch!
Given that both Iron Heart and Filson sell rather expensive clothes, I'm curious if folks complain about prices regarding Iron Heart as much as they complain about Filson. Or, is the quality of Iron Heart so good that the prices are justified?
Redwing needs to just stick with traditional boots, like the 10877 and 953, the unlined leather work boots they make are the best, they already have winning recipes, but typical redwing fashion they begin to abandon their roots, and any good boot they have they’ll discontinue or modify it. I think they’d do better just making boots that’ll last, not overpriced outsourced junk. Idk anyone that really wears redwing anymore.
Iron heart are not a UK company. All their clothing is manufactured in Japan therefore it's a Japanese company. Iron Heart UK are just their main distrbution centre for outside of Japan. There's also iron heart Germany and iron heart America. Their clothing line is a lot more extensive than what's available through their global distribution centres. A lot of their items can only be sourced from Japan.
While Iron Heart originated in Japan, its international presence is managed by Giles Padmore and his wife, Paula, who run the business from their hometown of Gosport, UK. So I guess their manufacturing and origin is Japanese, but the operations are out of the UK.

Great suggestion! I've had my eye on his stuff for a while.
Haha I think of Falling Down every time I see a guy in a button down shirt sleeve shirt.
"We're rolling back prices to 1965!"
Somebody probably mentioned it already, but just in case.... The mug doesn't seem to be available on the link. Maybe it's already sold out.

Love ya for it!
Man, I'm with you on Freenote Cloth. Damn, that sashiko shirt is crazy. Love these videos :)
Right?? They knocked it out of the park with that one.
@@CoffeeWithCarl1 Totally! The fabric is one thing, but the cut and those pockets. It's really tempting...

The indigo sashiko comes prewashed. I have it and it’s glorious!!!
That mug is looking good. Red Wing keeps missing imho, keep up the good work!
Swing and a miss for Red Wing, I agree.

Digging the new look with the beard. It suits you.
Thanks man!
Good job on the video
Thanks!
Love the Midway shirt! I have one in the red wool CPO fabric. Its INCREDIBLE!
Awesome! How is the fit?

Living in Texas, I personally have tried roll up sleeves but it's just to damn hot and going breathable fabric and short sleeve is a must for me

Agreed! It's very popular at the moment. I just hope it doesn't become a fad which looks dated in several years.
I will let you know that I just got my Stormy Kromer Merrimack Jacket today. It is good and it a red and black pattern..
Hey, Carl. How do your Frank's boots fit compared to your Nicks? Did you get the same size in both, or was there significant differences?

Nice vid! but Iron Heart is definately not from the UK, it was a brand started in Japan and has since made european etcetera branches :)
Thanks for the info!
Hey, you still rock your Oris Aquis, right? Well, then you should check out the Oris Bear tin cups. Probably a bit hard to get by, though.
I'll definitely check them out!
I just wish these companies would make talls. I don’t mind spending the money but for the price I need it to fit nicely.
I tried the link for the mug and only see the banner, pocket tee and hat. I don’t see the mug.
Yeah, thats on me. I need to get them some photos.... sorry about that!

I'd say your second thought is the correct one. Iron Heart is leagues above most Filson, and they also tend to be a more "personable" company as well.

Don't like short sleeve shirts in any case - just roll your sleeves up - but $120 for something made from rayon is a joke!
Carl I think you may be spending to much time on self promotion.
