That is a model 204. (Replaced by model 202 in the late 90s.) It had a “Supersole”. The I t’s a blown urethane and Red Wind 100% can resole them at the factory. The sole has a resoled by putting it back onto the same injection molding machine that soled them t originally. The key is to catch it and have the resole done before the hook welt is eaten into too far. You do great work. And this is a great example. Just chiming in based on having actually worked for red wing and had several such boots personally resoled.
Thanks for letting us know. These just look like the same construction as several in the WORX line. I'm was just reading on their site, they don't recraft WORX or Irish Setters.
@@tanthony3895 okay. 11 years managing a company owned store and having literally hundreds sent back through the factory and resoled was all my imagination. They don’t do leather work but the soles are done every day.

I used to manage a Red Wing store and can tell you that Red Wing will resole any of the Super Sole/2.0 line with the direct attach to welt construction. They have a bit longer of a turn around time than traditional soles, though. All our local cobblers hated the direct attach because of the gumming issue.
Yeah, we were mainly talking about many of the waterproof work boots by Red Wing. People email us about them all the time saying that Red Wing won’t resole them and asking if we will. Those are the ones we won’t do.
Have this exact pair! Have a pair from 1990's and a newer 202 model pair from 2016. This is their supersole line and red wing will resole them with another supersole for about $130. Awesome what y'all did with these ones!
I now understand how much work goes into re-soling these boots but WOW did they turn out nice with the white soles and the red stitching! And the owner gets to keep and wear his old man's boots for another 20 years. Awesome!
I emailed you guys about recrafting a pair identical to this. Y’all and several other cobblers said no 😭. Can’t say I blame you. But interesting fact, I was able to send them back to Redwing through our local store and they can pull that sole off and remold one back on. I went with the “snake sole” pattern which as I understand it is the same material as this original super sole but with a neat pattern in the bottom. If you haven’t seen it check it out. Still waiting on the boots to come back from RW. 🤞🏼

I had RedWing resole my 15+ year old 406's less than a year ago and that is one of the heat bonded soles they came out great and only cost me $125. I dropped them off at the Nashville store (Rivergate) and they called me just under a month later to pick them up. My only complaint was they updated the sole to the supersole2.0 because the original was no longer available and the new seems a little less aggressive.
My Dad had a pair of Red Wings exactly like them with the black soles also and we work in concrete but he always put his rubber boots over them when pouring. I have a pair of these so it is good to know they can be resoled when the time comes. Mine are black and about 25 years old ... I just haven't worn them much. Not sure why not, they are very comfortable. Great work, guys, as ever.
We’ve been receiving quite a few comments stating that Red Wings will resole all of their boots. As we mentioned in the video, Red Wing does not resole some of their boots, which is why many folks email us frequently asking if we can. What we were trying to get across, as badly as we may have done, is that some of their boots technically cannot be resoled. They are a major pain to do so, and that’s why many cobblers, AND RW, will not resole some of them. Obviously, the boots we resoled ARE able to be resoled or we wouldn’t have done them. 😉Again, I think we just did a bad job of explaining which boots they won’t do…nor will most cobblers. Thanks! We appreciate you watching. Yes, a lot of Red Wings can be resoled. There are only specific ones that can’t be, and those are the ones that aren’t worth even trying. Red Wing will resole many of their boots, and we can as well.
I have a pair from 1984/85. Not sure if they are good candidates due to cracking in the leather but maybe I will send them off if my son would want them.
I was just about to order some Wolverines until I saw your recommendation for “Thursdays”, so I ordered them instead. Love the channel. Thanks for the tips and recommendations. 👍
Although I’ve watched a ton of your videos, i rarely ever comment on them. I’ve been wearing boots well over 30 years. This video brought back memories as this pair of boots was my introduction into the boot world. My Dad had a pair that he had used up and had thrown them away. Well, I didn’t see that way. I pulled them out of the trash and used a marker and colored them black. I was a high school freshman at the time and I thought I was the coolest kid on the block. I wore them for about two years and then they disappeared with time. I’d sure like another pair but definitely not in black.
Awesome! It's a shame that like watch repair your brand of craftsman are becoming a dying breed so thank you for keeping it alive. Also Thank you as well for showing through your repair videos why it's better to own superiorly crafted shoes & boots.

Thanks! Haha…good tip. 😉
Hot corking gives me that warm and fuzzy feeling 😊
Great job again inspiring us to care for our boots and restoring them when they need it.
Wow, they look beautiful. The white soles really pop on those boots. Good to know red wings can possibly be resoled. I used to just toss mine out but I'll check around to see if any cobblers online will do it. As they say money talks. It might cost an arm and a leg but I think I can find somebody to do it.
These videos are beautifully shot. Love color treatment and grittiness. Good editing and camera angles too. Well done.
I was just about to order some Wolverines until I saw your recommendation for “Thursdays”, so I ordered them instead. Love the channel. Thanks for the tips and recommendations. 👍
Wonderful craftsmanship
I enjoy watching your videos! Reminds me of my dad. He made shoes his whole life, with Nettleton shoe in Syracuse NY being the last place he was at.
I love watching these videos and have learned so much.
Crazy thought done a short about the difference between the sole
It’s always enjoyable to see your videos I wear mostly boots your videos make me want to learn what you do it’s like art
Trenton and Heath are the coolest cobblers out there. Great store, great channel and great information.
Thanks so much! We really appreciate that, and we thank you very much for watching.
Awesome! It's a shame that like watch repair your brand of craftsman are becoming a dying breed so thank you for keeping it alive.
Also Thank you as well for showing through your repair videos why it's better to own superiorly crafted shoes & boots.
Merry Christmas to your families. Always a pleasure seeing you give a second life to these footwear.
Seeing the shop-dog was cool. Is it a German Short-haired ??
what a lovely pup you got there in the background
Thank you!
Absolutely gorgeous update...
Bravo guys!!! excellent work.... not my kinda footwear, per sé but, there's something out there for everyone.
Thanks so much!
I love the updated change well done boys
It is always a nice Saturday when i see your video pop up.
We really appreciate you watching! Have a great weekend.
I have the same exact pair , I thrifted them recently , they need to be refurbished!
I bought a pair of red wing steel toes and man best boot I found for walking on concrete everyday
Have these and in black with the ‘super sole’ . Redwings official cobbler in UK resolved mine a few tmes but now I understand why he talked of recrafting the boot which took longer
Hey! Good job, and a good design. I like them better than the old ones. Thanks for sharing! See ya later!
