I have an old 50s/60s woolrich buffalo plaid coat and a new gold ochre Italian wool Filson, and the difference is pretty apparent by touch alone. You can tell the older woolrich is thicker and much more firm/rugged. The Filson is like a style piece reminiscent of what an outdoorsman’s coat once was. You can still find a woolrich from some old hunter who is long gone, for around 100 dollars, and the Filson is around 5. Love both, but there is a clear difference. My woolrich even had a new in the package pair of disposable hunter’s field gutting gloves in it. I do not think you will find that in todays Filson coat years from now.
... but the name Filson and the silhouette Filson will be forever. Not for fat/bold/old americans ... The uggliest people in Europe are the fat americans travelers ... even Cuba refuse them!
The disdain when you mention loafers will never not be entertaining. Good looking jackets all around this episode and those cobalt blue boots were absolutely magnificent.
I've been watching your stuff for a couple years now and love your stuff, I was wondering if you've seen the Larose Hat Co stuff, its got that whole made like the old days thing going where they are very durable and got a style that you really don't see around much these days, I don't see much content about them and I thought they might be up your alley.
I am interested in the Field Leathers release. Will that be an off the shelf item or will it require submitted measurements and have the regular extended wait time? Next up with him should be a workwear style cafe racer jacket collaboration. I need one for those stylish Spring and Fall rides on the moto! 😂 I know that you would want me to not always look like a Power Ranger out there on the bike! Regarding side handwarmer pockets: I have jacked up my shoulders enough over the years so I can't deal with the pockets that force you to move your hands up and back. I am officially too old to deal with it. I am lame. Haha.
I was initially thinking about getting the Nicks coat, but you may have won me over with this Fields collab. The Connecticut wasn’t really my cup of tea even though it looked stellar. Are the arms a reasonable length on this collab? Feel like they’re a bit longer than I’d like on the Nicks coat.
That working guys complain about the prices of exceptionally well-made, useful, dare I say even stylish things says more about how those working guys are being treated by a system that exploits them than it does the costs. Sure, fashion brands (usually corporate profit-above-all brands like Filson is now) are ripping you off. Workwear is fashion now. So what? How does that dilute Nicks or Carhartt offerings? This $750 for a leather jacket of this quality---that will age brilliantly and last forever---that's a good deal, a very good deal compared with mall crap. Carl, you've done a great job getting working guys into better quality stuff and explaining why it's worth it. The astonishing part is that guys think they are being overcharged when they're just being tooled by a corporate capitalism that will pay them as little as possible while the Fat Guys get fatter. Call that political, but thems the facts.
You should not feel weird at all. They chose you to do a collab with. I don't think Weston, Rose Anvil is in Spokane making the boots he does with Nicks. They chose him as well cause of his channel. The same goes for your channel. They get free pub from subscribers that watch your video's. Your main channel has grown since I have been watching you. This channel is for certain persons who really enjoy this content even more. I am bigger guy as well, so a lot of this stuff I could never fit in. But, it neat seeing it anyways. Keep up the good work. And, I just ordered Mocha flannel as well...Can't have too many flannels...
For the Carhartt Flannel, if I’m mostly a XL in t shirts and standard flannels should I opt for a L? I’m 215lbs, 5’9 and the bench is usually my go to workout atm if that helps.
The heavyweight ones are loose fit, so you might want to size down unless you need room for layering. The mid weight ones are relaxed fit, so you could go either way. Carhartt flannels are easy to find at Dick’s Sporitng Goods, Tractor Supply, and other local stores so should be easy to try on before you buy.
I loved the Nicks / Heat Straps coat as soon as it came out. However, I hate snap buttons on work coats, they let too much cold. And finally the fact it will cost over $1100 CDN definitely means I won’t be getting one.
I wrote that message before finishing the video… I standby your decision on quality over quantity! I go back to your old videos a lot when researching things, so quality definitely wins over because in a couple years time people won’t even know you didn’t upload one Sunday but they will appreciate the quality.
It's funny you mentioned the Y2 Leather jacket, I initially thought that was what you had on until you mentioned Field Leathers. I have the Type 2 ( not the type 3 you showed) Y2 jacket and it's absolutely perfect for me. That Field Leathers is pretty amazing too though. The pocket details are a nice touch.
I love my Devium fleece lined canvas coat but they're a little trim in fit. Most jackets are with my 5'6" 185 pound frame with a 49" chest. The coat is very comfortable with my arms at my side but it's restrictive with my hands up on the handlebars.
Carhartt has become my go-to for flannel shirts the past couple years. I like roomy fit, double pockets, 100% cotton, and great patterns for a price that can’t be beat.
Always a good week when Grant Stone makes the roll call! And you even mentioned loafers. Just preordered an Edward boot in Honey Glazed Shell. Jacket looks snappy BTW

I liked the tradesmen video. It helped me talk to my nephew about joining a union apprentice program.
Thanks Carl

Devium getting some love again. Great price to quality ratio.
Yeah! I have one of those shirt jackets and it's awesome. And their customer service is very good.
The disdain when you mention loafers will never not be entertaining. Good looking jackets all around this episode and those cobalt blue boots were absolutely magnificent.
Right? Total jaw droppers. He really has that leather dyeing technique down
Getting fancy with the edits here! “Whale Count” 😂
hahahahaha
I just ordered the kato moleskin blade jacket can’t wait.
Finally…. The new FALL releases are starting! My favourite time of the year! 🍁
Mine too!
I've just got to vent for a sec. I want to like enamel, but I always burn my hands and lips.
Anyway, great to see we were at #40!

The Field Leathers jacket will be standard measurements. I think Greg is getting away custom measurements, I dont know how that model is sustainable.
Any update on when the jacket is coming?
Any good double zip hoodies you’d recommend? Possibly not all thermal versions?

I'll bet Greg is willing to do a variable sleeve length upon request. The B3 was a very unique jacket, and its definitely not everyones cup-o-tea!
Let me know when you get to Montana 👍🏻
I'll be there Friday!
Oh great, now I want a Fields Leather type 2. Damn you Carl!
What a Spam 😢

Getting closer to when I can wear my conneticut again. My ohio from them should be here soon.
Good luck with this. When's the b7 type coming :)

Thats exactly my thought. I'd rather have a library of videos I'm proud of than just a whole lot of them!
good morning and hope the coffee is hot
Always brother, always!

On my phone I have a X type ...
Morning hope you are doing well.....wanted to know have you ever heard of or seen Mack belts?
I havent! I really hope they're like Mack trucks.
That nicks /heat straps welding jacket is 🔥 I would be hate to ruin it though at work.
Do you have a job🤔
Devium needs some larger sizes.
I love my Devium fleece lined canvas coat but they're a little trim in fit. Most jackets are with my 5'6" 185 pound frame with a 49" chest. The coat is very comfortable with my arms at my side but it's restrictive with my hands up on the handlebars.
Jacket is 🔥 Carl. I absolutely love the color and pocket detail!
Wow $800.00’crazy too rich for me!

I’m sure digging the carhartt flannel!
That Field Leathers jacket will be such a hot release, would love to see it soon!
That was a real deep sigh for the Loafers 😂😂😂. It’s okay, they can fit in our shoe line up hahahah. Some good products in this episode.
Hahahaha
Always a good week when Grant Stone makes the roll call! And you even mentioned loafers. Just preordered an Edward boot in Honey Glazed Shell.
Jacket looks snappy BTW
I'll mention loafers... but then I need some anti-nausea medicine
I bought a pair of herringbone jeans from Brave star denim but living in the country I never wear them.
They're so nice.
... what you eating to become such stupid🤔
Wow right off the bat we’re pitching merch. Hmmm…
