I love teaching people how to better use the technology at their finger-tips and also how to improve their technology work-flow. This is one of those little tricks that I find a lot of people don't know how to use. Provided your Mac and iPhone/iPad are up to date; you can now use your iOS device to scan a photo or document directly to your Mac; whether that's inside a Pages, Numbers, or Keynote document, Apple Mail, Notes, or any Office 365 Application like Word, Excel, or PowerPoint.

What is the difference between scanning and putting the scan in a new folder, and just taking a pic and putting it in a new folder?
Thanks for the informative video. I don’t haves Mac but do have an iPhone & iPad Pro I use TurboScan which works similarly to your video. You can add pages, choose your output format (jpeg, pdf etc) &
output destination. I typically save my files to Dropbox. It works for my purposes.

Ok... I figured it out.... you have to have your lightning cable plugged into your iPhone and computer. Now it works.

Do you have a video showing how to connect your iphone to your mac. So far i cannot use the features shown in this video ?
you have to have your lightning cable plugged into your iPhone and computer. Make sure its synced. It should work.
Do you need a Mac computer or can you use this was a Windows computer if your iPhone is connected to it by USB

Hello Sir. I really, really appreciate your channel. You explain everything so thoroughly. I know you’re very busy and that your time is very valuable. Recently I upgraded FCPX to version 10.4.8
When I open a library nothing shows up on the timeline. I can see what was edited in the viewer but I can’t make any adjustments since the timeline is blank. I’m kind of new to FCPX, I installed it in June, 2019. I only have 5 library items and when I open them up individually the timeline is blank for all. I have tried to open a library from the backup, but the timeline is still blank. For example, my Ted Nugent library backup was dated August 29, 2019. When I chose that backup the timeline was still blank after loading. Any advice or knowledge you have would greatly be appreciated. Thank you very much.
how about scanning photos?
Hi - i think a few details more are needed - do you have to be signed into the cloud, do you need two factor authentication ? I cant get it to work using iphone 10xr ios 13.4 and mac mojave
Recipes, receipts - yes - and boy did I need this one! It is so tricky to get a photo or document centered due to glare from overhead lights ... didn't know you could center afterward - neat. I have a request for a new lesson David. I have old VHS recordings that I would like to move to my computer (or to an external HD), without the DVD step, if possible. I apologize if you have done one already, as I have been searching. Many thanks! I am a long-time follower of yours back to the beginning of pcclassesonline. : )
And, if the only option is to VHS to DVD first, I have the machine to do it, but do you have any suggestions for that step, or the one to follow it?

Correct. On a Mac it’s referred to as a secondary click and a right click on a PC
@@TechTalkAmerica To expand upon this historical difference: Originally Mac Mouses didn't have two buttons so you had to hold down the option key (I think?) and then click on an item to get a "Secondary Click". This nomenclature followed the Mac and MacOS to today.

Thanks David. This is cool, but for some reason, this only recognizes my iPad, but not my iPhone even though they are all on the same include account.

Once again, thank you! When I scanned more than one document (2 or 3) the file became too large to email. I was offered mail drop but I do not want to use that. Any ideas? Ciao! Heading to Venmo now. 😎🐕
Make sure you have your computer bluetooth turned on!
I too can't connect my iPhone to my computer to get this to work. Example, I have my iPhone open and on camera and on my desktop iMac running Catalina, I create a folder and control click on that folder and in the menu that appears, I click on "import from iPhone or iPad" and then a box opens up with "take photo" , "scan document" "add sketch" but these are grayed out so you can't select them. I can see them but can't click on these choices.
I am trying t reformat the file names of ALL my photos. Is there a way to do bulk changes?
Could this work differently if I use Google Photos as my image backup and not iCloud?

What is a secondary click?
You have to use both fingers to click on the bottom right corner of the trackpad.
OK David - What am I doing wrong? My Mac does not respond to the "secondary click" that you show in the video. What's up with that? ... I finally figured out that I need to hit the control key. Still can’t get the iPhone to respond though.
TPR0914 Must set up secondary tap in System preferences, under track pad, just check or uncheck. Example I use natural scroll then double tap so I don’t open things while browsing.

On my iPhone I went to “Notes”, then touched the Camera Icon and “Scan Documents” came up. Take photo and save. Then attach to email. Seems to work great! Thank you David!
