Can you give us some recipes for Kala Channa? They are my favorite. The skin is firm, but the inside soft, so when I bite into them, it's like a tiny baked potato.
@@CurriesWithBumbi I can get them online. I used to go to other towns (Malden, Cambridge, in MA, and Salem, in NH), but I can't now because one needs a mask for public transportation and I just can't breathe properly in one, so I can't travel. Either my son goes, or I buy online. I would really like to thank you and other Indian chefs who have made everything so plain to those who love that style of cooking, but can't "get it" simply from cookbooks.
@@chagoot1024 thanks for your kind words. Yes buying it online is always a great option and so easy nowadays. I will try my best to come up with a recipe on kala chana soon. I like making it with potatoes. Please let me know if you have concerns regarding potatoes , then I will come up with another recipe.
@@CurriesWithBumbi You're asking a US person of Irish descent if they have issues with potatoes. Our only issue with potatoes is that we can't get enough!! That's our rice. Believe me, I have noticed over the years many recipes for Indian food using potatoes, and I'm hoping you do every one!! I have used a system when I used to be able to travel to Indian restaurants about reading the menu. If it said "aloo", I would order it. If it said "saag" I would stay away. I just can't stand anything "spinach-like". I know others like it, but not me. But the dals!!!! How I love a simple bowl of dal!! I also love the little containers of red stuff they keep on tables in Indian restaurants here in the States. Don't know what that is, but I slather it freely on the little crackers they provide before the food is ready. It's very red, has some heat, and has a very "clean", "bright" taste. Would love to see you make that, but I never knew what it was called. Once I started eating that, I couldn't stop.
This lady and her recipes are my new obsession....I need to print out her recipes and start cooking!! Bumbi...bring out a cook book...I'd surely buy it...

Hi Bumbi Last night one of your curries found me. I kept clicking on more, telling myself *"just this one..."* Till I fell asleep... I've just woken up & found myself still here. This is the 2nd video today & if I don't get a grip on myself & get up right now I'll be here all day. With a head-full of curries yet *non on the table...* Cause here I'm *HOOKED !!* No meandering talk, straight to the point, *calm...* 🌹 Great curries, perfectly illustrated, awesome tutor🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 May God bless you vm 💚
What else could be more "perfect" and "precise" than the word "Coconutty"! I enjoyed the entire show because the scriptwriter was a genius. Now it's time to cook and enjoy the dish.
I made this last night and it’s fantastic! I added some sweet potato cut into little cubes, a little sliced carrots and a handful of frozen peas. So good. Thanks Bumbi ❤
Dear Bumbi, Thank you for yet another beautiful recipe. I have just made this, although I improvised as I had canned chickpeas and canned chopped tomatoes. To give the tomatoes the right consistency, I added about a tablespoon of tomato paste. I have just given it a taste test, and it is superb, with a luxurious, gorgeous texture. Thanks again! John in Hong Kong
Canned chickpeas are a wonderful option. Even I reach out for those cans when I am in a rush. So happy to hear that you liked it. Thanks for sending your lovely feedback 🙏🏾
Another lovely recipe. I do like your recipes and I also like your presentation. You don't give just the basic recipe but you add a bit of detail, which I enjoy. I also find your quite voice very relaxing
I absolutely love eating chickpeas, currys are my favorite dishes. But, I don't enjoy chickpea curries ......until now! Just not long finished supper. This recipe will be recorded In my recipe book. Thank-you
Same as showed in video, after adding the coconut milk, keep covered for 8 mins. It will be such a quick recipe if using canned beans. Thanks for leaving a comment.
I really like your relaxed quiet way of explaining your recipes. I have watched many youtube recipes for dhal and I like your gentle approach. I also noticed that you don't over-fry your seeds in oil. I love coriander but I don't like a hot chilli flavour. Would you recommend just adding one or two green chillis with the seeds removed, for a milder chilli flavour? Thank you. The chick pea curry looks great. Sometimes I cook for my younger daughter's family when they visit. They are vegetarian. So the chick pea curry is ideal. I'd prefer a less spicy flavour for their two boys. What would you suggest?
So glad you found my video useful. Please leave out the green chillies if you are making for kids or for people who are sensitive to chilli heat. It will still be very delicious, I promise. Use very less of chilli powder as well. You can even use sweet paprika for the color. Sometimes store bought curry powder has added chilli powder in it so do not add any chilli powder to start with. Do a taste test while cooking and you can add later if you choose to. Thanks for your lovely comment. Please do visit my channel page for more recipes and let me know if you have any questions regarding any recipes.
I love your recipes very much . Could you share your curry powder recipe ? I really appreciate the way you share your recipe with all your secrets . Wonder cooking . I am South Indian but grew up in Kolkata . So I love my Bengali friends like you .
This was so, so delicious! I could hardly resist tasting it over and over again when I finished preparing it that it is a miracle that there was enough left to serve for dinner! Thank you so much for making me more confident about Indian cooking :)
