lorena Valdez I’m 60 have a pacemaker and had bypass surgery in 2014. For one year post op, took the statins and ate low fat. Felt like CRAP!!! It’s been 2 years on high fat, low carb, sugar is out, pasta breads absolute minimum. In is grass fed butter, avocados, olives, nuts and seeds, and lots of leafy greens. I HAVE NEVER FELT BETTER IN MY LIFE. Oh, don’t forget beef liver once a week and beef heart occasionally. Cholesterol is not the enemy, high carbs, especially garbage carbs, are at the root of disease.

Good video. Personally I eat beef liver once per week. Just for health in general and because it taste fantastic. Recipe I can recommend, soak liver for 1 hour in water( not milk like many do, milk changes how it tastes), then fry up butter and onion, remove from pan, fry the chopped liver( white pepper, salt and BBQ seasoning), add back the onions at the end. Eat with potatoes and a good salad.

I was training for a 10K run and my legs felt like lead bricks. I did some research and figured out this was an iron issue (causing low blood oxygen) so I loaded up on spinach and liver for about a week to 10 days before the big event and I had the best run of my life. I have asthma and my breathing was so much better and I had noticeably more strength in my muscles. I attribute that to the nutrient density of the liver I was eating. It truly is a superfood.

Better yet, cut it into bite-size strips and sear them in a very low heated pan, just to leave the inside almost raw. Add a good quality sea salt afterwards. You don't need anything else, it taste amazing! One of my favorites. I do the same thing with beef kidneys as well.

    • @rfdc
      @rfdc 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

@Rachel Avila I don't pressure cook it. Liver and kidneys are very soft, they don't need such high temperatures. There's a TH-cam channel called River Cottage. There are a couple of videos there by Steve Lamb about how to properly cut liver and a recipe. It's all very simple. The way I cook it is even simpler. I cut it into bite-size strips, I sear them in a very low heated pan just to leave the inside tender and almost raw. I use a good sea-salt and sometimes a bit of black pepper after they are done. At least for me it taste incredible. Kidneys have a very similar taste and texture to liver. Hope this helps.

vegan diet doesnt cause that. Anemia is an individual problem, not a vegan diet problem. There are millions of vegans who have been eating vegan for decades who do not have an iron problem. Same goes for B12 which everyone seems to think is unanimously a vegan diet problem. Might surprise people but the vast majority of those with B12 issues are still eating animal products. These problems stem mostly from the gut being damaged and the liver/kidney/adrenal system being down, not from not intaking the nutrient in question.

Iron deficiency is the most common nutritional deficiency on the planet, and over 90% of people on this planet consume animal products. Iron is found in plenty in plant based food, and B12 normally wouldn't be a problem either. The problem with Iron Anemia and B12 Anemia/deficiency:
      1. People are clogging their bodies with toxic food resulting in the body needing several times more caloric intake to get the same nutrition as before. A state of perpetual starvation.
      2. Glyphosate, Gluten, Gmo's and other harmful chemicals are damaging gut absorption and even causing leaky gut resulting in less nutrients getting into the body even if you consume those nutrients.
      3. Soils contain less nutrients than they did 100 years ago.
      4. Food is mostly all sanitized, pasteurized, sprayed, rinsed etc getting rid of B12.

I recently started eating liver and I instantly powered up! I make bone broth over the course of two days from roasted beef bones and a few leaves of comfrey. I separate the tallow (fat) by chilling it in the fridge. This is when the magic happens, I make a short crust pastry with gluten free flour, half tallow and half grass fed butter which I then roll out to make pie crusts. I then brown up some steak and liver (soak in milk overnight). Simmer this in some broth, thicken with corn starch and add into your crust and bake for half an hour. It's crazy tasty, has great fats and is very nutritious. I get so much tallow from the bones I even add some to my dog's food which seems to help with her coat and joints.

I was experiencing weird nerve burning sensations in my arms, legs and toes. Also chest pain, unbearable itching with no rash, brain fog, sinus infections, dizziness and out of breath. I thought i was aging quickly and going crazy! I even did bloods and my dr told me all was ok until i spotted i was borderline deficient when i read my results. Long story short, i watched a video on whole food supplements for vit b12 and beef liver was recommended. In a matter of days i felt better, itchiness, dizziness and fogginess disappeared. After 3 weeks have also noticed better sleep, skin glowing and much better mood and more energy. My head is clear and my eye sight is better. I pray this helps who ever is reading this that this also helps you too. 🙏 😊

For example I don't get enough vitam d (vitamin from the sun) because of work, so I use vitamin d pills instead. Similar with protein powder, creatine, zinc, magnesium, calcium, c vitamin and also b vitamin. Things like this is all different for everyone and our lifestyle so please do research on vitamins and chemicals that you eat every day and see what you might be missing. Dr. Berg (and all fellow fans of his good nutritional info) here is a tip for getting family members to eat liver, even when they don't like it:
The following dip recipe is loved by all who taste it. Here in Mexico, we have access to good non-GMO corn chips, but for those who don't or who are on a keto diet, you can substitute fried pork rinds for chips. Simple fool proof recipe follows:
Fry up your beef or chicken liver, or steam it. Then cut in pieces and put in blender, together with sauteed onions, a dash of worchestershire sauce, 1/4 to a half cup of mayonnaise or sour cream, and enough refried beans to equal the amount of cooked liver, so the ratio of liver to refried beans is close to 50/50. Blend it together until its pureed. Check the taste, maybe add more worcestershire sauce, for flavor enhancement and to help disguise the liver taste even more. I get a lot of requests for this dip recipe. Everyone loves it, and if done right, the liver taste is well disguised. Put a bowl of it out on a coffee table with chips, and it will disappear. Even finicky teenagers will devour it.

    Yummy way to cook liver:
    1)cut the liver in cubes
    2)prepare your butter
    3) some crushed garlic (I put about 3 gloves for about 2 liver steaks) + add salt on the garlic
    4)prepare lemon juice (1 to 2 lemons)
    ____
Start by melting the butter in a pan then add the liver meats, let them all be spread in the pan. Wait about 5 minutes then turn them. When they are dark and ready to be eaten, make a little space in your pan and add the garlic 😋 for 1 to 2 minutes dont let them get burned. Then mix them as you like and finally add your lemon juice and let them cook together for about 7 to 10 minutes (the time you are washing the dishes). And now its ready to be eaten 🤰
That's how we prepare it in lebanon (if we didn't eat it raw). Eat it with some Hummus and taboulé salad 😋😋

Ate some everyday for a week now and I feel great. I know I was depleted. Energy up, but my eyesight is way way better.Had damage to my eye after a detatched retina. Everything is much more distinct and my night vision is dramatically better. I also believe getting the excess calcium out helped as well. Shocking how this dietary addition can make a huge difference. Feel way better. Going to tone it down now that I have built up a bit. Thank you .

It’s the best thing to eat if you think you might be deficient in a certain vitamin lol . I don’t want to get a blood test done so I bought some liver because of how many vitamins it has !

I’ve been eating liver since I was a child , you need to go to your traditional butcher. And ask for a good quantity of liver. If your suffering from anaemia low in iron , or low in vitamin A… this is an absolute great organic way to increase those… I am not a doctor … only an experienced liver eater. Lol

Dr. Berg I just searched up beef liver recipes and the first recipes told me to soak in milk for 1-2 hours to get rid of that strong taste. I did that and it tastes like a normal piece of beef. yum I could eat this all the time. Too bad, I live in Canada and they don’t have much (grass-fed) liver available. I had to go to a farm, and they only have very limited quantities.

Another fantastic video by Dr. Berg. Liver also keeps a man young and potent well into the late 70s. My grandparents lived on a farm. He worked the land , l never saw them sick and were always very energetic up to their late 80s. Everytime we visited , granma would make a stew of beef , goat , or lamb organs : heart, kidneys, liver and other stuff. It was very delicious. I didn't know how nutritious that was until Dr. Berg made this video. Great job Dr. Berg. How l wish l'd known this when l was a boy. But it's never too late to start eating right.

You know what? What you said about energy is true. Two days ago my hubby bought liver and I fried it with some onion and spice, I had some leftovers and I ate in the morning normally I loose my energy around 11 in the morning because I have been anemic for years but yesterday it didnt happened. We were moving and I packed and carried stuff on and off untill 11 at night. I didnt realise that until I watched this.!

Dr.Berg you are the man! I love that you bring all these super nutritious foods to my awareness with great explanation and detail on how it helps and also I love that you bring light to the misconceptions! One of the reasons I don't eat Liver is, because of the taste, but also, because I thought the Liver stored toxins. Now I know the Liver. neutralizes toxins and that it stores nutrients. Now Imma go figure out how to flavor up liver so that I can consume it more often and get all these amazing amounts of nutrients form it. Thank you Dr.berg!!! 😃🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Used to hate liver as a kid. Have been taking beef liver twice a week regularly on a keto/ IF lifestyle for a couple of years now.
I feel satiated and mentally sharp.
The best way I found is to soak the liver in something sour like apple cider vinegar or lemon water for about an hour or more. Then drain off the water and cook the liver with butter or coconut oil mixed with whatever spices and herbs you want. Tastes great.
