My mom had 7 kids & she got 6 of us to enjoy liver by always serving it with Both fried onions & bacon…Her Trick was To have us eat a bite of Bacon with the Liver…It worked Cuz 6/7 of us really liked Liver. Cheers Everyone.🇨🇦
Like the bacon idea!
Were you the one kid who didn't 😊
I’m British and we’ve always cooked liver with bacon it’s delicious ❤
Great idea using the bacon
gross
One of those foods you hate as a kid but absolutely love as an adult! Looks great!
I was a weird kid and asked for liver all the time! 🙃
@@ChefAnge 😂
@@ChefAnge Same here, i absolutely loved it. But my mom always made 5 times the onions and i still do that.
@@shmodzilla-me too, love them 🙋🏻♀️
I loved it as a kid..and still do, but that's only because I was raised partly by my grandmother which loved foods such as this.
NOW 82 ,HAVE NOT EATI N LIVER SICE A KID JUST TRIED RECIPE FOR THE FIRST TIME ,EXCELLENT WLILL MAKE IT AGAIN SOON. GREAT TASTE NO LEFTOVERS, THANKS FOR SHARING
Awesome Jim! Thanks so much!
Love liver and onions. We bread our liver with flour seasoned with just salt and pepper. Fry in butter. Onions, lots and lots of them, cooked in butter too. Can't have liver and onions without mashed potatoes and canned peas. Love watching your videos!
Thank you so much!
Don’t forget gravy 😊
One of these days I'm going to have to create a liver and onion and bacon mushroom casserole
I learned this trick (marinating liver in milk overnight) in the 1970s. When I told people about it, most of them would go "ew, liver" but I took it to pot lucks and my body-builder friends loved it. Liver is great; I'm glad it's making a come back, especially now since I'm basically on keto.
Thanks for sharing!
What does the milk do ? I’ve never heard of it before
@@camwells9726 It draws out nasty stuff that makes it not so tasty. The liver is a filter: clean it before cooking.
@@andhisband cool , thanks for that tip
Calf liver is much cleaner. Tastier too
Looks perfect... trick on live is Do Not over cook it.
My mom cook liver and onions for my dad one time and I loved it. That was the only one in the family that did. It probably saved my life that year.
So good for you! ❤️
Love this recipe! I’m impressed that you are using 8 cloves of garlic! I love it but all too often recipes calls for 1/2 cloves so can barely be tasted!! Thank you!
Never enough garlic! 🧄🥰
This is a staple food in the Black household. Cook in gravy. One of my favorite meats besides Chicken Gizzard and Livers.
What does race have to do with this!?
@@coreturkoane5570because different races have different cultures and food?
@@coreturkoane5570 Since Black was capitalised, it could be the family name?
I love gizzards bro!
Brings back memories from my childhood. My mother was a wonderful cook and this was one of her staples in her repertoire.
❤️❤️❤️
Love liver, but lamb's is by far the tastiest.
I do everything you do, but, I put my flour in a bag add liver shake real well..comes out nicely coated with olive oil..I pre cook bacon pieces and add last, buy liver at health food store..great gradmas recipe, we ate it once a week..intensity good for you .
Worcestershire can be pronounced "Woostersher". In NZ we also just say "Wooster" sauce. This recipe would also go well with bacon added!
Bacon is perfect with liver & friend onions & my mom had 6/7 kids who learned to love liver because of the bacon!! A bite of bacon & liver together~ delicious. Cheers 🇨🇦
Or washyoursister sauce 😆
A famous chef just say, "Worst word in the world sauce"! So much easier😆
The liver had some pink in it which is perfect. Your such a talent. You are making me a great cook, from a good cook
You already were a great cook! Thanks so much!
Just finished making and eating this, really good. My 94 year old mother has low iron and I cook a lot of liver for her, nice to have a different way of cooking it.
❤️ hope both you and her enjoy
Wooster!! Greeting from UK.
Well, that makes things simple!
Dude, I'm back! Let me tell you, mom NEVER used milk or white wine vinegar! As you know I'm not a cook but game for trying something new! I made it for the old lady...and mom with white rice. Mom asked for forgiveness and loves more! Hahaha
Thanks again!
Welcome back and thanks my brother! This is just how I learned to to it from my mom. Every mom has their own twist on the classics. Hope everyone enjoys!
Certified liver hater over here. Your recipe has made it look good. I think I will try it out again. Thank you for this.
Welcome friend!
A tip: Cook a few strips of Bacon & eat a bite of bacon, fried onions with the liver~Delicious!! This is precisely how my mom got 6/7 kids to love liver… most kids Hate liver… bacon & onions are perfect with liver. Cheers. 🇨🇦
Ya man! Even my kiddos love this recipe! Thank you.
Love this! Thank you! 🙏
I luv Liver and onions,,, and maybe a bacon strip or two in there. First time I've heard of the milk trick, definitely going to try it. 👍
Bacon, Fried Onions & Liver~Definitely going to Try this~Thank You. Cheers. 🇨🇦
Looks absolutely delicious. Will be trying it out tomorrow.
Thanks for the recipe. Looks very delicious. It's pronounced Woostersheer sauce. It's very easy. Us English don't do difficult pronunciations. We would also add rashers of bacon to this dish.
I’ll have to do a bacon video now! 🥓
Always called it wusta sauce. Great recipe. I tried it. It's a big hit.
Not sheer but shur. Very posh say shire. I'm from that part of the world maybe you are more northern, less farmer. 😂
@@Delchursing Grew up in Rfrdshr but left over 40 years ago. I don't think anyone says shy-er.
@@ssemson Best spelling of my county that I've ever seen!
Looks tasty and healthy.
I need to try this.
Thanks, Chef.❤
Nice recipe. I also like the vinegar (I use balsamic) but any wine vinegar cuts through the fattiness nicely.
I'm from Gloucestershire in England, it's the southern neighbour of Worcestershire.
We pronounce Gloucester / Gloucestershire "Gloster" and "Glostersher" respectively, (or Glostersheer, but never Glostershire).
Likewise, Worcestershire = "Woostersher ".
Only the Americans call the sauce Worcestershire Sauce. We call it Wooster Sauce, irrespective of what it says on the bottle 😅
(Don't be misled by your American viewers, the other chap from the UK also got it right😊).
Wooster it is mate! Cheers!
Thank you for mentioning Balsamic vinegar~ Great idea. My dad is from London & he intoduced my 🇨🇦 mom to British condiments like Worcestershire sauce, H.P. Sauce, Mint Jelly, et cetera…I use only the authentic brands from U.K. as the generic knock offs in Canada couldn’t possibly taste the same & why be dissapoinnted. Yes, the U.K. Brands cost more, but some things I will NOT sacrifice. Cheers.
My Mom loved liver and onions and so do I. Thank you for the memory and the simple and delicious recipe. 😋
Our pleasure!
My dad was the same way 🥲
That looks wonderful. We’re going to try that.
That looks awesome! Thanks for this recipe idea.
Hope you enjoy
Can’t wait to try this I bought some lambs liver today after reading how good organ meat is for our health.
Organ supplements are very expensive so I thought I’d try and eat it first.
My mum used to make liver and onions but me and my siblings hated it because she over cooked it and it crumbled when you cut it, so dry 😂😂😂😂
Hope you like it! The meat is the fraction of the price of the supplements and way more nutritious!
Love this! Can’t wait to try. I just bought beef liver today for the first time and never eaten it in my life so I’m looking forward to it.
Hope you enjoy! I eat it a few times a week and love it.
Jumping in immediately at the deep end eh ? 😁
I'd have advised lamb's liver to someone new at the dish, or maybe pig's liver. They taste less strong than cow's liver.
Ok, this looks AWESOME!!! Definitely going to try this!!! 👍🏼👍🏼💯💯💯
From dear old blighty, the correct pronunciation is, "Wooster-shire!" God bless America. 🇬🇧🇺🇲
Nice video and great recipe. Solves my issues with liver and onion recipes; texture and smell. Ended up with a super tender, saucy dish that we loved. I did dust the onions for a little more gravy feel. Put on some Jasmine rice. Got some anemia going on so this is an easy 28% per serving.
I was the only one of my cousins who loved the liver as a child. Beef or chicken. My Mother made it so good that it would melt in your mouth. More for me!😂
Excellent recipe. Delicious results.
Definitely using this recipe and prepping for my daughter and I!❤
Hope you enjoy!
Hi man! I've just tried to cook liver this way and it's absolutely incredible! The best liver dish I ever tried! Thank you for sharing the receipt
Glad you enjoy it! ❤️
Looks delicious. Add a Tablespoon of of baking soda into milk to soak the beef liver and tender the liver . You should add a bit of cooking wine into beef liver to cook will make it taste more delicious. Thank you for sharing. 😁😁🥰🥰.
Thank you for mentioning adding Baking Soda for tenderising the liver~most appreciated. Cheers. 🇨🇦
Liver is one of the most tender parts of an animal. Do you really need to tenderise it? I never have.
My granny could eat liver, even with her lack of teeth. Are you eating it with a straw?
My grandma made liver with lots and lots of onions banana peppers it was delicious. She said she learned how to prepare it from a Chinese employer in Mexico .
Just made this dish using your recipe and tips, and I'm so pleased! Thank you!! The sauce came together even better than I had expected, especially with the white wine vinegar 👍👏
Wonderful! 😁
'Wooshtersher", but Richard Pryor simply called it 'What-this-here" sauce, and it works for me and most Limeys within earshot!
Delicious and tender every time! I tried it without the garlic and it was delish.
Wonderful! 😁
I'm about as British as a British person can be and have eaten and loved liver for years but always cooked it British style, bland LOL. Never used garlic before, tried it and loved it. I might even push it and be daring and put some chilli and parsley in it!
I have seen chicken liver recipes and the southern cooks use buttermilk soak from 30 minutes to overnight time periods. The 30 minute counter soak worked good for 2 lbs of chicken livers to tame/tone down the strong bite. I know this is beef liver, but organ meat is organ meat.
Make sure the bile duct is removed, I found some processed liver with the green sack still attached.
Thanks for the simple ingredient recipe.
Excellent, a must try. Thank you Chef Ange.
Hope you enjoy! Thank you! 🙏
Growing up we used to eat liver quite often. However, we seasoned but never salted until was cooked. Was believed to make the liver tender.
Hmmm I’ll have to try that out in the future
Thank you for this appreciated tip. Cheers. 🇨🇦
We like adding mushrooms to the liver & onions and make a thicker gravy. I used to hate liver but then when I was pregnant with my 1st child I suddenly was craving it. Sometimes I’d eat it a couple of times a week. I would put in inside a rolls and eat it like that sometimes. It was crazy to me but I couldn’t stop craving it. Also Chicken livers. ❤
Sounds like a yummy sandwich!
Omg me too. For about a week all I could think of was liver. Finally got my mother to make some for me.
I totally agree. Liver is a great meal, and as you said, not expensive. Well done.
Looks simple and delicious. Gonna try this method tonight!
As a kid in the 60s in Queensland Australia we had lambs fry bacon & onion gravy. Lamb liver is not as strong as beef liver.
Never had lamb liver! Sounds delish!
This is really good! I combined it with a part of an old German recipe ("Berliner Leber") and added two thick slices of an apple to the onions. The fruity sourness of the half molten apple fits perfectly. As a side, I had plain fried rice... Try it!
Great video! I love Liver and Onions!
and loved your additions to this classic dish~ especially the white wine vinegar
Thanks so much!
GREAT RECIPE! Thank you
My pleasure 😊
Looks so good. My mom did this, she also floured the chunks and as they cooked they made gravy.
I cut and rolled my liver in flour with mixed herbs, salt and an Oxo cube. Fried for 3-4 minutes, turn gas low and add onions, NO garlic. Remove from pan, keep warm. Mash some cooked potatoes with butter. Make some gravy in the pan. Serve and eat. Almost any green vegetables go well....
This dish looks delicious & you were such a pleasure to watch & learn from. I can't wait to try it myself! Thank you so much!
nice,will try
Gonna have to try this, looks great
Please do. Thanks! 🙏
Liver is really good with something bitter. In Brazil we have scarlet eggplant that is perfect to add like you did with the onions (I use both in my recipe). You should try with (normal) eggplant or any other thing to add some bitter.. it's really nice.
My favorite meal....yum!
Same here!
Love liver. Just like how mom used to make it but she added capsicum strips with it. Out to find some liver yum.
@@jimalvir5866 I find most supermarkets have it and it’s usually super fresh!

Made this for dinner. Was delicious!
Worchestershire is pronounced. Wor’ ches-shir . That simple. Your welcome. I have subscribed and your my favorite sheaf.

Organ meats ARE where the most dense vitamins & minerals are found. Pass historical generations feasted upon Organ meats. The heart, liver, Kidneys, all the parts of the endocrine system were highly valued As a food source. Because of the strong gamey taste many times these meats were made into sausage, or blended with muscle meats which are lower nutritional quality but having milder taste.
That looks delicious 😋
Thank you 😋
Looks amazing…..going to try this…thank you, since I am low on iron!
Asparagus goes really well with liver and onions too. I lay out the spears on a microwaveable plate and add a pinch of salt and a bold Italian dressing. Microwave for 2 minutes, or till just tender.
That’s sounds super quick!
Steam them.
Awesome Video to learn from. Thank you! - Even though I don't eat liver and onions, I have a friend that does and I would like to make this for him. Little tip that I do love is Worcestershire Sauce. If you can say "WAR or WUR" you are good... WUR-STA-SURE * You are now a pro... God Bless and thank you for teaching me this method of Liver and Onions. Hope you can help me with Egg Drop Soup too. lol
I’ll do an egg drop soup recipe soon! One of my favorites. Thanks for your comment! 🙏
Outstanding. In this takeaway culture. That's 10 out of 10 👏
Looks great 👍 I love liver & onions !
I love this dish served up with mashed potatos and put canned peas in the mashed potatos. Thank You very much for this recipe chef 😊
Looks really good , I'm going to try it , not had it for years. I'm from UK so it's pronounced ( wooster sauce ) we like to complicate stuff
Bacon bits bring it to next level 😊
Yes...sweet & souer👍🙂
Good stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Thank goodness you did not promote cooking liver "n onions with ketchup! 😂🤣 Goodness was that a 50's/60's thing and horrible! My mom loved cooking liver steaks in the broiler with garlic and soy sauce, served over sticky rice and topped with green onions. I loved it and thank goodness because I was ordered to eat liver when I feel anemic as a young adult. Your recipe, with garlic, onions and the beef stock looks fantastic....and served over sticky rice, I'm going to try it! 🥰😎
I eat it at least 1x week! Enjoy!
I love liver and onions, I also cook in a cast iron, Beautiful skillet. Thanks for explaining the reason for the milk, I had no idea but I had seen it before. I'm an awful cook but I love to watch skilled people cook and then I dream about sampling the food. Thanks.
We are from Rhodesia and we call it "Wooster sauce. Easy to say and remember - but it is pronounced Woostershire Sauce - you are right.
I’m going with Wooster from now on. 😜
This is a great recipe!! I was so happy with how this turned out! Yum!
So glad! Thank you!
the pronunciation is wooster - the double o as in wood.
👍
Worst a sheer sauce
I’ll have to write this one down! Thank you!
Yum!! Love liver and onions
So good! Me too! 🤤
We make liver and onions with flour and lots of butter and my family loves it, including the kids
