Holy crap. I wish that that Sandy scene was kept in the original spongebob movie. It never made sense that she was stupid enough to start buying from plankton, nor did it make sense that she has the bucket helmet under her helmet.
SpongeBob works so well because it takes the "adult cartoon" formula, sanitizes and doctors it for kids, and ends up with a unique formula that works for all ages. Most of us can relate to either SpongeBob or Squidward on some level.

The Season 2 DVD showed Procrastination uncensored. I've watched it so many times as a kid and I never knew those scenes were removed. They never stuck out to me as weird or offensive.

15:22 I have a feeling this actually has to do with the psychological effects of 9/11. I was five when the attacks happened and although I was thousands of miles from them and barely knew what happened, it was still a very traumatizing event that I, like many Americans who were very young during that time, was deeply psychologically effected by. It's very likely that due to how soon after 9/11 the episode aired, the images of the explosion were reminiscent enough to the highly televised attacks that the show's very young audience reacted with fear and aversion upon seeing it. Everything was highly sensitive for a few subsequent years because of the attacks, with everyone constantly on edge and the entire country going through a sort of collective PTSD, so it makes sense that the scene would be pulled in order to spare children any more distress than they were already experiencing in a very strange, very scary post-9/11 world.

Another way you can tell the scene in _Procrastination_ was edited out is that when SpongeBob says "Gee, this is harder than I thought!" he's sitting in the chair. When it cuts to him saying "I can feel those juices pumping now!" he isn't in the chair.

Something I remember from the snail episode that I remember differently, outside of the Squidward transformation scene, is Spongebob frantically saying "I-I'm blind, Gary! I'm blind!" instead of "I'm fine, Gary" when his eyes transformed.
I remember this too! I have only watched spongebob in Greek as this is my mother tongue but I definitely remember him saying I'm blind in Greek instead of I'm fine.
Not technically a deleted scene but it was said that the original voice recordings of the episode Sailor mouth had actual swearing with the voice actors as there characters, the creator and Nick allowed it since it was getting censored anyway so they went all the way. Some of the voice actors said that it was one of the funniest things they did in the show especially with Clancy Brown's as Mr. Crabs outburst when near the end when he hurts his foot.

SpongeBob works so well because it takes the "adult cartoon" formula, sanitizes and doctors it for kids, and ends up with a unique formula that works for all ages. Most of us can relate to either SpongeBob or Squidward on some level.
I would've loved to see the Sandy vs. Government agents scene. And the "This isn't water, this is gas" Scene.

The Season 2 DVD showed Procrastination uncensored. I've watched it so many times as a kid and I never knew those scenes were removed. They never stuck out to me as weird or offensive.

15:22 I have a feeling this actually has to do with the psychological effects of 9/11.
I was five when the attacks happened and although I was thousands of miles from them and barely knew what happened, it was still a very traumatizing event that I, like many Americans who were very young during that time, was deeply psychologically effected by.
It's very likely that due to how soon after 9/11 the episode aired, the images of the explosion were reminiscent enough to the highly televised attacks that the show's very young audience reacted with fear and aversion upon seeing it. Everything was highly sensitive for a few subsequent years because of the attacks, with everyone constantly on edge and the entire country going through a sort of collective
PTSD, so it makes sense that the scene would be pulled in order to spare children any more distress than they were already experiencing in a very strange, very scary post-9/11 world.
I wasn't even in America during that time so I just sort of came back to traumatized people

I think it's sad they don't allow kids to see many scenes anymore for unsubstantiated fears it could negatively effect kids. Kids are resilient, I watched many of these when they came out and I turned out fine and the kids locked in my basement all agree with me

Another way you can tell the scene in _Procrastination_ was edited out is that when SpongeBob says "Gee, this is harder than I thought!" he's sitting in the chair. When it cuts to him saying "I can feel those juices pumping now!" he isn't in the chair.

Something I remember from the snail episode that I remember differently, outside of the Squidward transformation scene, is Spongebob frantically saying "I-I'm blind, Gary! I'm blind!" instead of "I'm fine, Gary" when his eyes transformed.
I remember this too! I have only watched spongebob in Greek as this is my mother tongue but I definitely remember him saying I'm blind in Greek instead of I'm fine.
Not technically a deleted scene but it was said that the original voice recordings of the episode Sailor mouth had actual swearing with the voice actors as there characters, the creator and Nick allowed it since it was getting censored anyway so they went all the way. Some of the voice actors said that it was one of the funniest things they did in the show especially with Clancy Brown's as Mr. Crabs outburst when near the end when he hurts his foot.
I *_really_* wish we could see what the episode was like uncensored. Just thinking about it makes me laugh.
For pretty much my entire childhood, I saw Procrastination with the scenes cut and didn’t think anything of it. Apparently, they brought the outdoors scene back in 2018.
