For the record, Spongebobs “lust” connection is his near obsessive love of everything around him, pretty sure its not reffering to literal sexual lust
He's proven as a sexual from the creators of spoegebob that's why he loves everything
They confirmed every spongebob character is asexual so they dont feel sexual attraction or lust

The reason Krabs says, “So that’s what I taste like” is because in the episode this clip is from, Mr Krabs thinks he’s getting old. A scene in the Krusty Krab takes place near the beginning of the episode, where a mom tells her son to throw his Krabby patty away because it’s “too old”. Mr. Krabs then steals the old patty, which leads to him saying the line, because he and the krabby patty are both old.
Plus, it's not like he _hasn't_ eaten a patty before.

@@chloenieuwsma4846 Well we would probably see more evidence besides the fact that there are not that many crab like creatures, Mr Krab eating a crabby patty that he was called to be one, and a name that can just be a brand name as Kelp Shake is a special item like how we say a mint shake.
We also never see him as a murderous person as during the prank on the health inspector, it was at first him trying to dunk on a criminal with a foul patty.

For the Krabby patty being made of crabs, another way to interpret it is that Mr Krabs is using crab claw meat since the claws grow back after a while (which fits in with "so that's what I taste like")
My personal favourite Spongebob theory is the theory from Binging with Babish that the secret ingredient of the Krabby patties is literally nothing, it's the idea of a secret ingredient that makes these patties so good being what actually makes them so good, like a placebo, except it's a marketing ploy made by Mr Krabs to sell more patties
The reason why he is always afraid of plankton getting his secret formula is that it would break the lie he made up to make so much money, which makes all the chaos that happens from those ploys of stealing it pointless
though, in a comedic way, all those times Mr Krabs indirectly caused chaos from this lie usually sort themselves out in the end, which is why the chaos from the secret doesn't bother Krabs too much
Would also explain why plankton never got to know what the 'secret ingredient' is, definitely seems like a good possibility!
Also the krabby patties being made of crab claw meat makes sense.
We even see his claws fall off in the “Have you finished those errands?” episode, but we then see him grow them back in the next episode.
@@NGGYU I think so, too. I think there are some companies that do this already, or instead of nothing it's something so simple yet so effective. Like, imagine how surprised I was to learn that one of two main ingredients in ice cream isn't just dairy...it's air. How funny would that be if the "secret ingredient" is just air? XD
What if Plankton works for Mr Krabs, think about that? What if he's paying him to stage these elaborate attempts to steal the formula to add to the intrigue like a big live advertisement. Maybe that's how Plankton keeps his restaurant open to spite never having any customers. I mean for a guy who's restaurant never turns a profit he can afford a lot of advanced sci-fi equipment very few real life scientists would have the resources to afford.
I mean wasn’t there an episode where Sandy tries to observe Spongebob and Patrick without them knowing, that is probably a good support for the whole marine biologist Sandy thing.

Can we just talk about how adorable the sandy biologist theory is? It genuinely changes the way I see the show, but in a really sweet way. A marine biologist and the subject they’re studying becoming best friends…? So cute.
I have seen the skin theory one, and I feel like it was pretty clear that the creator was talking about the normality and accessibility of realistic-skin-like recreation of other character's body and appearance, rather than out-right real skin.

The last one really adds a lot of emotional weight to “Dying For Pie”.

There was ACTUALLY a whole society of crabs, in the episode “Kracked Krabs”
I remember about this watchable episode, where ALL of the crabs was actually cheap the fact there's a academy award about the cheapest crab in the bikini bottom
I was just thinking that.
Plus there is a incidental named Incidental D7 that's a crab.
There are plenty of crabs that appear throughout the show, but they're either unnamed or on screen for seconds.
And there's Mr Krabs nephews.
Sorry I didn't realise about the crabs in the episode "Kracked Krabs." I missed that episode when researching sorry 😆 But I do personally still think the theory is surprisingly convincing 🤔 Also I've heard Alex theories are great and sorry I hadn't heard of them til these comments 😆 Kudos to Alex Bale for all the great theories! 😀

Nevermind, my friend. Because the episode itself was around at the seasonal rot of Spongebob, it would being justified you didn't knew it until now. Unlike MatPat who straight up talk about "Who is the strongest Incredible" video WITHOUT knewing the suit which made by Edna Mode are the MAIN reason why Elastigirl survived at the plane explosion scene.

I like how he's able to be nice and calm about the theories he doesn't like instead of bashing them. Personally I love skin theory because i believe it is intended to be a shitpost and not taken seriously. And I think the sheer effort put into the shitpost makes me respect it a lot.

My main issue with squidward being spongebob's guardian is that it sort of makes the moments of genuine connection and care squidward shows for spongebob feel a bit less legitimate. It feels a bit more special to me to take the squidville approach and believe that at the end of the day he really cares for spongebob and enjoys the chaos despite his hard exterior
I'm not a big fan of this theory either, because I think deep down Squidward does appreciate Spongebob as something as his closest friend, cause he knows that there's no single soul in Bikini Bottom who really likes him and acknowledges him as the squid he is. Spongebob is the only one and no matter how often he gets rejected or shouted at (although he deserves it very often) he still comes back to Squidward every time. So the fine little details, like in the pizza episode where Squidward jumps in front of a truck to prevent Sponge from being run over, or later when he couldn't stand Sponge crying and therefore takes on the unfriendly customer, these details show that there is a small part inside him, that does care about Sponge and appreciates him being his only real friend in his life.
And of course the Squidville episode only shows, that he would never be happy with the "perfect" life he imagines for himself, as much chaos Spongebob causes, he is way more unhappy when nothing of it happens around him.
Strider’s so nice about the bad theories, he’s the kinda guy I’d love to have a coffee with and talk about cartoons lol

As much as I love the idea of the Bikini Atoll theory, I have a hard time believing it because of SpongeGar and Primitive Sponge. They would’ve been alive waaaaay before the nuclear bombs were set off.
I agree with you is creative but don't you think some people just get into deep into conspiracies but that's the fun create your own story. But I was kind of upset that you didn't win brain surge I mean I remember that episode and you got every question right except for one which was your downfall but I bet it was fun going down that slide. And also a more personal question what is the hardest song that you had a write?
@@billyjondoeloomis5203 No problem. I had a lot of fun pranking Hawk, as, even today, he still tries to steal my thunder. I’m still a little sad that I lost on brain surge, but I’m happy that I managed to get so far and that slide was pretty fun.
The song I had the most trouble writing was the snickerdoodle song. It was hard to come up with lyrics when the only thing I could think of was eating snickerdoodles.
Also, there's one more detail to backup the "guardian theory": Squidward's name consist of two parts 'squid' (no explanation needed) and 'ward', the element that's used in real English names (like Edward and Howard) and is derived from Old English word 'weard' meaning "guard".
There actually was an episode where Spongebob did something similar to drugs. Remember the "Cuddle E. Hugs" episode where Spongebob eats a rotten Krabby Patty and it causes him to hallucinate in a very drug-like fashion?
Skin theory never states that the character necessarily wear REAL skin, they’re suits. The theory more talks about how normal this is in Bikini Bottom.

@@phantomstrider As a person with ASD myself, it is especially nice to see someone with my condition doing so well creatively, and, assumingly, irl as well. As opposed to someone who I might find loud, obnoxious, and/or always being involved in some drama. Not going to name names, but I have at least one in mind. I have enjoyed watching some of your videos for a while now, and hope to see you doing great things in the future.
Btw, do you think that the Squidward being the guardian theory helps make the episode Squid’s Day Off(where he obsesses over SpongeBob ruining the Krusty Krab while he is in charge) make more sense? I do because it always stuck out to me as odd that Squidward was so paranoid of SpongeBob not being able to take care of himself, but it would make more sense if he was the guardian because he has always looked after SpongeBob. It seems like a parent/guardian being worried about their child being left alone. Of course, there are moments that seem to poke holes in this theory or at least add some complexity to it. Like when Squidward lost his job, and had SpongeBob do everything for him, while taking advantage of him. Edit: what a bad guardian. As well as, when Squidward gets very angry at SpongeBob, and seems to hate him. I don’t believe he truly hates him because if he did, he would not do so much for him. He is just very upset/emotionally unstable. While other moments just add to it, such as the playful relationship those two had in the earlier seasons. Like how they always seem to be helping each other out even if it is just to win a toy from a crane, giving advice to not over eat, standing up for your friend when they are bullied by a customer(“my drink” guy), and how worried/sad Squid was when SpongeBob was going to explode by a bomb. He probably believed that he did a bad job as his guardian.
P.S. When a new neighbor comes into their land, Howard, from the episode “New Fish in Town,” he has a liking to him because he seems a lot like him. However, when he decides to be less stuffy, and joins SpongeBob and Patrick, Squidward pushes Howard’s home off a cliff. I believe he did this because 1. As he says, 2 annoying neighbors is plenty, 3 is crossing a line. 2. He puts up with SpongeBob and Patrick because he is the guardian of SpongeBob and Patrick is his best friend. So he tolerates him because if Patrick left, SpongeBob would be distraught, but Howard did not have a relationship with the troublesome trio(Squid, Sponge, Pat) prior, so he is ok with pushing him out. The same with Sam(Patrick’s sister), if she left, SpongeBob would not be sad.
I'm so glad you brought up crabs shedding their shells because the amount of people who mistake shells for dead crabs is a bit concerning to me
I have to say, the Guardian Theory could very well be possible. The only real holes in it are the fact that Squidward has been established as living in his same house before SpongeBob showed up. Another issue is that Squidward has actually attempted to leave Bikini Bottom, or at least away from SpongeBob, in the Opposite Day episode.
The theory of Squidward being SpongeBob's guardian did put a smile on my face :)

Some fan theories can be fun, but the drugs theory gets applied to far too many properties that it is now a tired cliche.

The only thing I dislike about the drug theory is that most of those traits are just basic personality traits. You don’t need to be a heroin user to act like squidward.
Fun Fact: There was also a 7 Deadly Sins theory for the seven Ultra Beasts, which is probably why Game Freak probably created 4 (technically 3, because Poipole and Naganadel are an evolutionary line) new Ultra Beasts.
no I don't think so because what is a pair of wires, a mosquito which sucks blood to get muscles and a weird jellyfish who is also a rock suppose to be related to evil in our world. also the seven great demon lords from Digimon is an example of an intentional 7 deadly sins thing so we can make a parallel that spongebob to one of the most sexiest Digimon in the digital world Lilithmon and sandy to a specific devil from christianity called Lucemon.
We actually do see more crabs in the episode “Kracked Krabs”, and there’s the crab who owns the supermarket SpongeBob and Squidward play at in “Hello, Bikini Bottom”.

It makes sense, too, considering many species of crabs are violently territorial creatures, so I could believe Mr. Krabs getting a WEEEE bit defensive about others encroaching upon his business, like when he & Plankton were forced to move their restaurants because they were too close together, or when Kelp Shakes started sprouting up like Starbucks all across Bikini Bottom (the allegory wasn't even all that subtle, but GODS was it hilarious looking back. XD)

My favorite part of skin theory is how strange it is realizing how abundant characters wearing realistic costumes and tearing off skin and false body parts is to the series especially for the first 4 seasons but I never was really interested in the actual theorizing part

The thing with the salmon costume in the skin theory is that the fish characters looks cartoonish as well so If Squidward wears a suit of a cartoonish fish it would be like if someone wore a realistic human suit instead of a cartoonish one

I definitely agree with Gary being gluttony for the seven deadly sins theory. As someone who as owned several cats that are part russian blue, I can confirm that they’ll eat until there’s no more food in front of them. We used to own a full blooded Russian blue, and he ate all his food we left him for vacation within the first few days, making himself sick because of it.
That's carnivores for ya. No need to learn moderation if your food has a habit of running/flying away from you most of the time.

With the cannibal theory, the mom says, "it's all old and dried out" and when Mr kravs says, "so that's what I taste like." Remember the episode was Midlife Crustacean, where Mr Krabs feels old. So when the lady said the patty is all old and dried out, that's exactly how Mr. Krabs feels. So I don't agree with that theory
With the "Squidward being a guardian" theory, there is more evidence that shows that he cares for Spongebob, like in that episode where he thinks that spongebob is going to die in a few hours, Squidward does actually seem very upset at this, but maybe thats just my interpertation of it

I think the Patrick costume actually makes sense to the skin theory, because I think its a little weird how a resident in Bikini Bottom has a full body costume of himself.
When it comes to the Cannibal Krabs theory, I swear I remember an episode about Mr. Krabs going to a crab convention to see who was the stingiest and greediest crab in the sea. There were plenty of other crabs there who seemed just as greedy as Krabs. So yeah, not too sure about that theory.
Explaining Spongebob’s role as lust in the seven deadly sins theory; while most people tend to associate lust with extreme romantic and/or sexual desire, lust can also refer to a great enthusiasm or eagerness for something. For example, the phrase “a lust for life” referring to having a great enthusiasm and positivity to what ever life throws at you. And if that doesn’t describe Spongebob as a character to a tee, I don’t know what does!
Yeah, it’s a bit of a stretch, but I think it fits Spongebob well here. And I personally find this definition of lust in the context of the seven deadly sins trope a lot more interesting and unique then the typical, overdone sexual lust.

Maybe time to them is much longer in perspective than the time it is to humans. Because a smaller fish would have higher metabolism than a human, therefore time would pass way faster to them whereas it could only be a decade in human years and thousands to them

I've had a slightly different roster for the 7 Deadly Sins theory:
- Mr. Krabs is Greed, of course, no question there.
- Spongebob is Lust, and I think the idea is that he's really friendly with just about everybody and there are times when he gets weirdly clingy, particularly with Squidward.
- Squidward I see as Pride. For one thing, just about all of his artwork is of himself, but there've been multiple occasions where he inflates his ego and degrades others.
- Plankton is Envy, yes, but I think he also doubles up as Wrath because he's one of the most violent creatures in Bikini Bottom. I mean, he's clearly no stranger to weapons-use or mass-destruction fantasies.
- Patrick is another double-hitter with Sloth and Gluttony, both fit him to a T. He clearly has a gluttonous appearance, and I can think of quite a lot of times where he scarfs down everything or otherwise gets really food-focused.
Sandy and Gary I wouldn't qualify. Sandy may take pride in her abilities, but she rarely ever brags about them or puts others down like Squidward does. And Gary can eat a lot, sure, but it's not exactly fair to say he's Gluttony because he gets relatively little screen-time, so that's pretty much the most we actually see him do (and by the same logic you could call him Sloth since we rarely ever see him really do anything).

That's true 🤔 We learnt in Psychology and First Aid that permanent neural damage can start as early as 1-3 minutes. Fortunately, Spongey and Patrick seem to have not been dead for quite that long so hopefully he suffered no long-term damage 😄

He can heal from other physical damage, so maybe he could heal from brain damage too. Humans can't, but maybe cartoon sea sponges can.

Isn’t the finale of spongebob chronologically the first movie. So you can’t really make any theories on that movie at all. Maybe spongebob suffered from mental damages after messing around with time travel and magic in the 2nd movie
There's another theory that I found on Reddit stated that Spongebob is a former ex-military soldier who suffered from PTSD and he was sent home just to get a normal life. The Reddit user pointed Spongebob's routines and behaviors that could make the theory more convincing. Such as how his karate hobby is related to soldiers being good at hand-to-hand combat, or the way he dressed in the same clothing is how soldiers do.
Although, I find this theory, in my opinion, underrated.
I really like that theory too. If I'd known about it, I probably would've added it 🙂 It would also explain why he's so appreciative of his simple civilian life. My short time in the Navy 9 years ago taught me a deeper appreciation for the peaceful civilian life that I never before appreciated.

I find Patrick and Gary's sins are interchangeable: Patrick does a lot of both sleep and eating, and Gary (with snails acting like cats) likes to lie around and relax.
Personally, I think Patrick fits Gluttony more than Sloth since he (contrary to Gary who often prefers to chill at home) is always ready to accompany SpongeBob on some adventure or spend some fun time playing games with him. Also, Pat (again, contrary to Gary) is visibly overweight.

Something interesting to add onto the Cannibal Krabs theory, I remember reading a nickelodeon magazine that on one page had a Krusty Krab menu and under Seafood, it said "Hey! This isn't the Cannibal Crab!" Just something to think about
Actually we have seen other crabs in the show, in the episode “Kracked Krabs” where Mr Krabs and Spongebob go to a cheapskate convention where literally everyone but spongebob is a crab. And three of the crabs from that episode have made appearances since, one even being the manager of the supermarket in “Hello Bikini Bottom”.
And when Mr Krabs eats the old patty and says “so that’s what I taste like”, he’s probably referring to the patty being old rather than it being his own species’ meat.

Whats crazy is that the Alex Bale theories (which were made as part of an ARG) have a lot more effort behind them than a lot of other Spongebob theories online, despite the fact that they're just a vehicle for telling a much larger story.

It would be cool if Strider saw the Mrs. Puff Theory by youtuber Alex Bale. It's pretty vast but one of its main points is that Mrs. Puff comitted a crime and is forced by a powerful prosecutor to stand Sponge Bob. Interesting, right?
