Sometimes it is really hard to break old habits and I often find myself trying to quit the very things that are going to help me successfully move forward in my life.
In today's video I discuss how I'm feeling when all of this is taking place and a little technique which is gradually helping me to overcome these difficult emotions and the destructive effect they repeatedly have.
Been watching your videos for a good while now. I was (briefly) a cognitive behavioural therapist (well, trainee!) and one of the best things I learned about was something called behavioural activation. It’s practical and focused on planning and executing necessary, routine and pleasurable activities, especially during times when we can’t be bothered. By actively doing something instead of relying on faltering motivation levels can bring practical and mental benefits.
It's tough to have our mind serve us instead of us serve the mind....
