As a professional car reviewer, I'm sure you are spot on re the shortcomings mentioned. However, I doubt that the demography this vehicle is aimed at would wish to change too much as they are looking for a very comfortable cruiser, not a point-to-point back roads weapon!
It feels like he's griping for the sake of it. All of his complaints are addressed in next year's upcoming model. Power is up to 771 horsepower and 1000 NM of torque, the AWD system is more rear-biased, and the new model gets the rear wheel steering and LSD that the outgoing speed model also got.
Like you said, i bought the continental gt coupe because i wanted a very luxurious and comfortable cruiser that had a ton of passing power, long range cruising and all the creature comforts anyone can ask for. And then i decided i wanted a point-to-point back roads weapon….so i treated my self to a Ferrari Roma as well. And now i have the best of both worlds!
I have seen several reviews and walk-rounds of the Bentley Continental GT and GTC and the only thing I'd have negative to say about them both is that they haven't got much rear legroom. If you're carrying more than two people, it doesn't look like those in the back would be very comfortable.
Thanks for giving us a very good and detailed impression of what a Bentley is all about. The car is quite unique of its kind. A true GT with focus on comfort and luxury. The owners of this car probably don’t expect or wish for anything different. This is the strength of english top notch exclusive cars and they must stick to it, because there just isn’t any competition at this level in equal measure. 😎👍
One thing I love about all these luxury cars , is depreciation, that’s how I managed to drive $170.000 S class , after I paid $28.000 for it … it may be few years old, and with 80K miles , but I’m fine with that, looks and drives like new …
The Most beautiful car I have seen in years! Looks, fantastic performance and exclusivity equals the BEST and when the company you buy from is renowned for high class bespoke motor cars it clearly shrinks the list from brands that you would consider!! Rolls, Bentley and Aston, all old-world master craftsmen of world class Automobiles but in this model range I think Bentley wins, not by a lot but just the total package is beyond perfect!
That's because you're old! I'm 52, and I hear............ oh wait.......... i've never bloody heard it called it a 'Conti' either! Apologies old bean, this is clearly a '30 something' thing..... you know..... the demography that can't actually afford one? 🤣
I guarantee that I make more use of my Boxster being a convertible than I ever would (or could in the UK) get the benefit of the last few tenths in performance and handling that may be possible with a Cayman over my car…
That's what annoys me about those convertible complaints. The difference is negligible in the real world for the vast majority of drivers. I'll take the convertible every single time when choosing between it and a coupe.
I totally agree, his remark that you should go for the tin top Cayman was so misplaced! But that is the beauty of carlovers, so many options to satisfy your preferences!😃
Nice review. I did have a quiet chuckle when you spoke about how you can have a conversation at speed with the roof off. That’s exactly what I can do in my slightly cheaper MX-5, no wind buffeting and there are Bose speakers in the headrest. The Bentley is still amazing…
Never been a fan of drop tops/convertables whatever you wanna call them.. but there's no denying nobody does them better than the Brits.. this is a thing of beauty.
As an owner of this car I can tell you it is absolutely essential to change the truly awful Pirelli PZero tyres that it is delivered with and swap them out for Michelin PS2’s, only then will it handle correctly (even in dry conditions) and be able to realise anywhere close to the 0-60 times given - other than that it’s a fantastic car (although predictably not as enjoyable to drive as my outgoing Porsche)
Unfortunately V8S clearly shows that focus on electrification means that development cost of more potent versions based on an existing ICE has been reduced as much as possible, as they expiry date is too close. On the previous gen the v8S was the one to be had, but here it's such an unimaginative setup with almost zero additonal value over a regular car - not a single additional pony, not a bit more playful setup.. Product manager should be removed immediately after this failure.
Oh wow, so when you fold the screen away to have uninterrupted panelling across the dashboard, the grain of the wood doesn’t match from one piece to the next? This is emblematic of exactly what’s wrong about Bentleys: the craftsmanship is nowhere near a Rolls and it’s far too portly to be a competent sports car. A car having to do it all makes sense when you just have the one, but at this price point, you can surely have multiple, and each of them better at whatever the Bentley is trying to do. The car feels confused, like it’s not quite sure what it’s meant to be or do, and so it does a lot of things well, but nothing perfectly.
It's bookmatched on the side with the dials. But since they use one continuous piece of wood, you can only have bookmatching on one of the 2 wooden fascias. They slice the veneer transversely for the full wood panel, but that difference in depth is enough to notice that it's no longer continuous. It's not a lack of craftsmanship. What you're complaining about isn't physically possible.
To me Aston looks much better, but Bentley has much better interior. Still would go for Aston with the new improved interior which were ugly in previous generations.
I don't invest in a Bentley Continental for it to be the smartest car, if I wanted that i'd buy a Volvo or some German car. Bently is about luxury, poise, class and opulence. To hell with tech and useless gizmos that only geeks will use.
Ho ho, the Hyundai may be quicker but the Conti will arrive at the destination sooner than the having to stop twice to recharge Hyundai. Not quite Tortoise and the Hare, but you know what I mean. I wonder what the average age of a Conti buyer is? My razzing everything to within an inch of it's life are long gone and my licence is heavy with points, so a nice luxury cruiser would fit the bill. I'm just £225,000.00 short at the moment of placing my order.
I dont know if you have noticed VW has just canned their EV production (maybe because of 2 ships burning and the costs and insurance claims threatening to bankrupt the company , Rolls Royce have already ditched EV (which was built on the ICE Wraith platform) for hydrogen as their parent company is doing , they have also closed their ev order books and Aston Martin have openly said they are NOT persuing electrification but concentrating on their clients' requirements to build ICE cars , Mercedes Benz have also cancelled their EV platform , with these facts you become a liar which is quite normal for a journalist , who writes any story for the highest bidder and usually gets at least half of the facts wrong anyway .
The clear signs of a poor review are; 1. Overuse of the word 'absolutely', particularly out of context. 2. Use of the phrase 'As you can see'. 3. Unable to stand still and talk, or drive and talk at the same time.
Original Bentley will be turning in their graves at the thought of this German effort which has not got a shred of credibility about it. Such a sad day this once British icon has come to this. The car is as genuine as the fidgeting presenter it just doesn’t say anything Bentley.

If the buyer wanted a Porsche 911 Turbo S they would buy that car. Customers buy the Bentley because it is a comfortable effortless cruiser.
I wonder why 🥱car reviews can’t just review the car for what it’s actually made for, not a sports car, a relaxed cruiser!!! Not a track car.

I’m one of the 99% that doesn’t need to watch this but still did. 😂
Which is what I’m doing whilst eating a Mars ice cream 😂
Bought this car, waiting for delivery
The Bentley GTC is certainly a car I'm considering, it is literally the best at what it is.
Very good video, well shot and presented, with subtle soundtrack. Well done. Excellent choice of wristwatch too - that Omega looks mint!

Yeah Conti is a tire in my book
They don't. The whole script in this vid is unimaginative and try-hard.

Just legendary car to bad that is losing W12
No need to lose the V12 just bowing to the P.C. crowd.
Quality video Car
Awesome car, lovely Speedmaster MKII
Like all modern convertibles: the windscreen is TOO CLOSE to the head, giving an uncomfortable feeling for the driver!

4 seat’s and 2 of them are decoration purpoce?
Beautiful car but get the smaller wheels to reduce road noise
Colour is astounding
Want one
The coupe is fabulous but love the GTC
Gotta buy this soon!
Omega Mark ll watch?

I own this exact car and disagree with everything you're saying lol. Its perfect
I even think it looks better as a drop top with roof raised or lowered.
My wife and I are both dying to know what is the name of that gorgeous deep red color? Is that “cricket ball?”
Somebody please reply to this guy :D I also want to know :D
It is called Cricket Ball, yes!
@@CARmagazineTV Thank you :) Good content here :)
What is the name of the color of the car?
Cricket Ball. It's a dark red over a kind of metallic bronze base layer, I believe.
Or metallic purple
Magnificent!
I agree with the four reasons to buy one and one reason not to buy one. I can’t afford it.
I prefer to own DB12 Volante.
Each to their own likes I guess, my friend.

One huge reason that 99% of viewers on here won’t buy this is the outlay price of £265.000 and the expensive running costs! 👎🏻

love it

I think I 'll stick to my Giulia. Combines sportiness, style & all necessary pose for those who care.
Buy one before it has a big battery in it. Nobody will want the hybrids and EVs used
Keep focussed on the road and stop looking at the camera .... Please !

Incredible car, colour combo not great
Amazing how car reviewers focus on cars that only the 1 or 2% can afford.
Because it generates more views than a Dacia review, obviously. CAR is a commercial brand.
Get a better job then!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That's fair but I don't want to see a video on a Ford escape or something mundane like that
I would not touch this electric nonsense. Petrol guzzling monster your only man👍
Why does the presenter not have a pee before the camera starts rolling?
