    A beautiful, haunting, soulful, sad song that gets me every time. Ten Years Gone.

    Yes, JPJ had a special instrument made - a triple neck, 6 string and 12 string guitar with a mandolin. It is for this song only. He used it to weave an accompaniment lush enough to support Jimmy. He also played the bass with his feet while playing it. John Paul Jones (John Baldwin), the hero of the band. Quiet and in the back but, without him Led Zeppelin would not have been the huge, amazing band that it was and is forever more.

      Or, it would have been a six person band. 😁. Honestly, even then, they wouldn’t have had the arranging skills that JPJ provided. Yeah, just the reserved quiet guy in the back ….. back then, I had no idea how essential he was to their sound.

      Even the songs he didn't write, as Jimmy has said Jonsey was there for the cord changes.

      Your right but he used it for a few acoustic sets at the Earl's Court gigs where all 4 of them are sat-down at the front of the stage with Page playing his 6 string account JPJ played the triple neck of which he had 2 different types one of those guitar's like you said and the other had a Bass guitar instead of the 6 string, the quality of sound and video is pure clarity with a set-list of 'Going to California' 'Bron A'Yaur Stomp' 'The Rain Song' 'The Rover' & 'Bron A'Yaur' played by Page was awe-inspiring with bits of Traveling Riverside Blues/Tangerine if really know what your looking for.

      Which band do you think is better than Led Zeppelin, unless you didn't realize that "penultimate" means the one before the best.

      I've had most of that concert remastered on DVD by Jimmy Page for years, also it's got the Albert Hall 1970 gig remastered as well as the Madison Square Garden gig but with a few extra song's added.

    JPJ’s 3 neck is a 6 & 12 string guitar, & a mandolin, was made for him mainly to play this song. He used it on an acoustic or two. I’m glad you decided to do this live, I just wish it wasn’t so red, don’t know if it’s the lighting or deteriorating footage. I love this song, & also glad Plant decided to share his music with us, instead of staying with the girl that made him choose. Thanks again hun.

      This was never refined and professionally mixed for official release like some of the other Knebworth tracks were in the 2003 DVD. What we have here is a raw soundboard recording with crude footage. but I’m thankful we have it because it’s the only live version of Ten Years Gone that I’m aware of.

    (29/05/24~12:20pm)'''Greenwich-Meantime'
    London,England.
    JPJ played a 3 necked guitar top one is a Mandolin with a 12 string acoustic guitar with a 4 string Bass guitar at the bottom all of which are semi-acoustic so they can be played through an amplifier set-up on stage like what you see, also it's able to be played like any other acoustic guitar with the same sound but without I an amplifier.

  • @henriettaskolnick4445
    @henriettaskolnick4445 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    Jonesy's three neck guitar is more than that; it's got a mandolin at the top, the middle is a 12-string, and the bottom is a regular 6-string. It was crafted especially for Jonesy by luthier, Andy Manson and it also has his sigil on the back. He didn't end up using it for too long, because they found it cumbersome onstage. He also has a triple neck with mandolin, 6-string in the middle, and 4-string bass on the bottom, but its not something he ever used with Zeppelin. Jimmy is using his B-bender Tele that works every time he pulls the neck down to produce the twangy sound.

    After his sons death, vocal surgery and 2 years since touring... They were nervous and played on front of ....reports say anywhere between 120 to 200 thousand people. A bit of rust, Plant hates his vocals at this show but some are outstanding and some are just average but as you say still better than many many live 'unassisted' artists.

      It would be extremely difficult to play the song as it was on the studio, too many overdubs, which is what made that song sound so beautiful, really impossible to do live unless he cheated and had recordings mixed in, which takes away what Zeppelin was so good at, live music, unlike what most people do today, even with their singing, just all about choreography on stage, everything else is prerecorded
