My father always said, "No talking when Led Zeppelin is playing". Also, it doesn't matter how many times you listen to "Led Zeppelin" it's like listening for the first time.
What your father meant was "No talking when music is playing". Interruptions affect MANY great works like this. If it's pop music or rap or disco or big band, go ahead and yap. But if it's the kind of music that sends chills up your spine or makes you feel things, then SHADDUP! Do not disturb! Do NOT break the mood.
@@planreview sorry, still not a BAD song. Certainly not one of their best, but why not have some fun and do their take on a “country” song? I don’t mind it.
The way Jimmy fools you into thinking you're listening to his lead, and then suddenly he layers a whole new lead right on top of the previous one. And if you're listening, you'll hear JPJ bringing the fill with that base line. It just adds so much depth. Finally, Bonzo is playing in another plane and you don't even realize he's all on his own.
I am 60, but am in IT, so most of my co-workers are in their 20's and 30's. Most of them are also big Zeppelin fans. More than any other old rock band, they really gravitate to Zeppelin, and this is strictly by choice.; I was never solicited for this, although they have quizzed me about Zeppelin, The Doors, and a few others. Young people like to discover something on their own, not be "sold" or "marketed to". That just tells you the power of this group.
My kids used to mock my music as they were growing up in the 90's and 2000's. One late summer evening I was relaxing in the backyard by the pool. The sun had set and the evening was cool and pleasant. They came outside (they were late teens by then) as I was sipping a margarita and "Kashmir" started playing. They sat their vibing along with me so I kept playing Zepplin. This song was next and then "The Rain Song" and more. They became fans.
I’m 69 and saw them in 75 at MSG in NYC. Such a fantastic concert but all their concerts were so unique and u never get tired of hearing and watching Zeppelin play. My favorite ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love the lines “we are eagles of one nest, the nest is in our souls”. He and the girl were from the same town (nest) and they carry that place and experiences within themselves. It’s a part of who they are She asked him to choose between her and his musical ambitions. I’m so glad, for all of us, that Robert chose music.
I agree but I prefer the opening verse more: "though the course may change sometimes, rivers always reach the sea" I don't know but those few select lyrics just does something to me but I understand ur choice and I I'd say that's a valid pick/ opinion
@@low-keyautummn5940 I love those lines as well. A. Good metaphor for Fate..,, if there is such a thing. I think Robert half believes in it. I’ve just always thought the other lyrics were such a very poetic way to say so much about past and present.
When Led Zeppelin was born, their music’s primary purpose was to grab the entire world’s attention and as many fans as possible. When Led Zeppelin grew into its maturity, the purpose of its music was to transcend this world and move into a different musical universe where only the remnant and true fans could follow. My Top five favorite Led-Zeppelin Songs? 5. Ten years gone 4.The Rain Song 3.Over the Hills and far away 2.Kashmir 1.Ramble On Those are my top five favorite Led-Zeppelin songs in Order.
Robert wrote this song about an ex girlfriend that made him choose between her or his future career. At the time he was a teenager so it was young love as he was only around 26/27 when he wrote this. Another great vibe song is The Rain Song. I love the live MSG version partnered with The Song Remains The Same; the transition is really wonderful. This is from the movie The Song Remains The Same, which incorporates a fantasy cut of Robert as a medieval warrior. Each member had their own fantasy cut within the movie.
That first solo early in the song is Page’s best guitar solo, imo. It’s deeply emotional and perfectly communicates to the listener the feeling and sentimentality that the lyrics reflect. For me, this is their best song.
The lyrics are about a woman Robert Plant was with. Before Zeppelin made it big, she made him choose between music and her. He chose music…but he loved her, too. Hence the melancholy tone.
One of my top 3 favorite Zeppelin songs! I'm recovering from having gallbladder surgery yesterday, and this was a nice little surprise for me to see you two enjoy a song I have loved for so long! 💗 It does indeed take you on a journey and ironically, as you will learn when you learn the lyrics, that's what the song is about! Life's journey and how fleeting it is.
Mine too Led Zeppelin is my favorite band of all time and that is their best album by far we used to listen to it laying on the beach all summer long it was definitely a vibe
This song takes me back to watching the 33 1/3 spinning around and around on the record player bringing an amazing arrangement of genius into my bedroom. Fantastic. Great reaction. Buckets of Maple Syrup love from Canada ❤️❤️ 🇨🇦 🇨🇦
This song is so beautifully nuanced; you have a melodic guitar with warm bass notes before Plant's voice moves you soothingly along a path of quiet introspection/reflection, whatever it is that is in your feelings. Tastefully played drums are just enough to elevate without completely breaking the spell. All the guitar overdubs make this a sumptuous sounding song. You guys really need to get some Zep merch on your walls! 😊
Yes!!! Glad you got around to this one. This was always what I thought was their closest to a soulful r&b tune! "Fool in the Rain" should be next, a Caribbean/r&b vibe on that one.
Wife here.., This is a little bit of a "Deeper" Led Zeppelin Cut....Absolutely Loooove it.."Whiskey Drinking Music".. Totally agree Jay....Ms.Amber ...The instrumentation in this song is soooo Gorgeous!!!..🤟💞
Physical Graffiti is my favorite album from Led Zeppelin. It is a masterpiece. You guys should check out "The Rover" by Led Zeppelin...it's one of their more underrated tracks (if that is even possible for this band).
The amazing thing about this song is the restraint that John Bonham displays. He corrals the feeling of the song by letting Page’s guitar work and Plant’s lyrical emotion hypnotize the listener…Pure Mastery of the drum kit.
Might be my all-time favorite LZ song ... the way Jimmy layers the different guitar sounds on top of one another is brilliant. Quite possibly the best in-studio rock guitarist of them all.
This song, this whole album was a big part of every single party we ever had!! So many great memories with so many great friends! You should hear this turned up loud in a 10 x 50 trailer with people dancing & singing! Our poor neighbors 😢! They were our #1 band while I was growing up & into my twenties and going forward into my adult life, and my 2 children were raised listening to them! No other band like the talent of Led Zeppelin!!
Love your reactions! Led Zeppelin always brings me back to my teenage years and some Boones Farm Strawberry Hill wine. I like how you can actually hear the needle on the album. You can't go wrong with Led Zeppelin.
One of my absolute favorite Led Zeppelin songs. I love the whole Physical Graffiti album, the other one I really love is the Wanton Song, which is different, but has a similar vibe for me. And also The Rover.
One of the Greatest Rock n' Roll Band EVER!!!! no one sounds or will EVER Sound like them!!!! Beat out any music of today!!!! it's RAW and Soulful and Masterful!!!! I am soo glad you guys Loved it!!!! 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
It’s good that Ten Years Gone is one of those great Zeppelin songs that was never ‘ burned out ‘ the same way so many other Led songs were. Helps to make that song even more special.
Congrats! You've found the hidden gem. One of their best songs that no one gets to hear. Rarely ever played on the radio. Just saw your reaction to Stairway a few days ago. You wanted more songs of Jimmy shredding the guitar. You should listen to The Song Remains the Same and The Rain Song from the same movie concert. You just have to get past the fantasy sequence they put in the movie. Great example of Jimmy's range as a guitarist. I know Amber will love The Rain Song, another one of their best.
This song always fills me with emotion..sometimes positive, sometimes to tears..it's just captivating. I highly recommend "I'm Gonna Crawl", which is the last song on their last album
Love this song. The live versions that have turned up over the last few years are incredible, as page cannot keep adding tracks on top of the guitar parts. This version has 9 tracks of guitar, they all fit so tight with each other, the whole album is an engineering marvel.
the best zeppelin song...jimmy stacks more layers than a wedding cake into those final 2 chorus parts. not only was Jimmy page a great guitarist...he was an awesome producer as well...zeppelin songs still sound great a half century later...the song is a guitar tour de force...check out In the Light off of this album...another vibe type song
This is a gem not played like the other popular ones as much but when you hear it for the first time ,it really gets you . Just wait until you get to hear Robert 's solo stuff , it is good . ..
I love watching younger generations listening to 70s music and I'm always surprised that most of you say you can't listen to the lyrics because you get lost in the music. It's so cute. I think our brains are evolving....not so sure in a good way, but maybe as you all listen more to the 70s and keep listening, you will be able to absorb both at the same time ❤
As a teenager i loved Led Zeppelin, today in my sixties i still listen to their music and i love them even more, thank you for the music and the memories, their music was a gift from the gods.
My favorite LZ song is "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You." Spent hours listening with headphones when I was a teenager. I think you both will find something to love about this one. I enjoy all Zeppelin choices. Keep on a trucking, man.
This song is the PERFECT example of why Physical Grafitti is my fave Zep album, and would be my desert island disc. This is a great song, yet it would only be around my 7th or 8th ranked song on PG. The wide variety of songs, the killer engineering and production, plus it being a double album makes it a cornucopia of treasures for the audiophile
Physical Graffiti is their masterpiece album imo. It blends so many different styles and genres, even within the same song like this, and they all fit together perfectly. Give "Down by the Seaside" or "Night Flight" a try for something you might not expect from them.
Just to let u guys know, this song was originally was met to be a Instrumental, but lead vocalist Robert Plant came-up with lyrics from when he was in this relationship with a woman which she gave him an Ultimatum. It’s her, or his Career as a musician. Of course he choose the music and Ten Years after the brake-up they saw each other again. The way he phrases things in this song is total Poetry, so you should download the lyrics and for sure you’ll see it. There are so many elements that makes all parts of this song amazing from each member. A Classic.
I gotta be honest I'm liking how much Amber is getting into all of these tunes! Her reactions are so in tune with the feelings in the music. A lot of subtle things going on!
One of my favorite tunes from zeppelin....I feel blessed that I was able to see half of zeppelin in concert back in 95 on the page plant tour...best concert I've ever seen and I been to a few
Would love for you guys to check out Zeppelin's song from their 4th LP " Battle of Evermore" it's an acoustic song with Jimmy on the mandolin. It features the late great Sandy Denny. An absolute killer duet. Side note: It is commonly believed to be based on events in J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings' final volume, The Return of the King.
Can't dispute the absolute sheer genius of Led Zeppelin and of this entire album. I will disagree with the back porch, drinking vibe. I'd argue it is deep, intense, and introspective!! And brilliant!!!
You're not drinking the right Bourbon. A good bourbon whiskey is a smoky journey evoking memories of the breeze flowing through the oak trees, the soft murmerings of folk in the background while a creek nearby bubbles over the rocks, occasionally dislodging a pebble to clink against another.
@@canonfodder2068 You and Jay do have a point. I guess my "knee-jerk" was that there are plenty Led Zeppelin songs that damn near require loud, rowdy, back porch parties. This is definitely one which encourages contemplation and peaceful introspection. And NOTHING at all says a smooth bourbon wouldn't be perfect for just that! My apologies! ✌🥃
One of Zep's greatest songs. Amber is right when she says that in this case they just take their time and let it all just sink in. What I love about this track is how Bonzo and JPJ lay down this amazing groove and it swings so hard. Then Page layers all these fantastic guitar textures with some fantastic chord choices. It's such a pleasure to listen to.
I'm still waiting for the day Amber hears "In the light"....talk about a total mind meld. You guys talk about vibe????......trust me the vibe is a next level event.🤘😎

It is the Mixolydian flat 6 key. Not sad or happy. Just remarkable. It is now referred to as the Ten Years Gone key
My favorite Zeppelin Song of all time. Some of the greatest lyrics ever written.
Then as it was, then again it will be
And though the course may change sometimes
Rivers always reach the sea
Blind stars of fortune, each have several rays
On the wings of maybe, down in birds of prey
Kind of makes me feel sometimes, didn't have to grow
But as the eagle leaves the nest, it's got so far to go
Changes fill my time, baby, that's alright with me
In the midst I think of you, and how it used to be
Did you ever really need somebody
And really need 'em bad
Did you ever really want somebody
The best love you ever had
Do you ever remember me, baby
Did it feel so good
'Cause it was just the first time
And you knew you would
Through the eyes an' I sparkle
Senses growing keen
Taste your love along the way
See your feathers preen
Kind of makes makes me feel sometimes
Didn't have to grow
We are eagles of one nest
The nest is in our soul
Vixen in my dreams, with great surprise to me
Never thought I'd see your face
The way it used to be
Oh darlin', oh darlin'
I'm never gonna leave you
I never gonna leave
Holdin' on, ten years gone
Ten years gone, holdin' on, ten years gone
Ten years gone, holdin' on

Love this song, as a teen of the 70s, this is a great song! It's in my top 3 zeppelin songs!!!! Zeppelin never gets old!!!
Give "Down by the Seaside" or "Night Flight" a try for something you might not expect from them.
crazy… i was just noodling around on this song at band practice tonight. (guitar)
Love Led Zeppelin. This is an unappreciated song of theirs that I have always loved. So happy to see you jamming to this vibe.
A Classic.
Great vision to add lyrics.
Possible my favourite Led Zeppelin song.
Slow Led Zeppelin Songs: Rain Song, Thank You and In the Light (my personal favorite)
Another song by Led Leppelin you guys should listen to is "ThanK You".
Great song!
I always recommend to people to listen to the remastered HD versions of of songs like this. With Zeppelin it's a must . 🔥
Led Zeppelin is ALWAYS a treat....savory man
As Robert sometimes said prior to playing the song live: "this is a song about your first love....the love you never forget".
Zeppelin has so many songs that if you close your eyes and just listen, you will be taken away on some mystical journey
@@lorioday8528 Oh yeah!! There are songs for that too! It's been a long time since I rock-and-rolled...
@@canonfodder2068 me too, my friend. But back in the day...watch out! 🤣🤣🤣
You guys MUST react to Led Zeppelin's "Trampled Under Foot" and "Hey Hey What Can You Do?"
Hey hey what can I do is an awesome song
Such a groove.. always one of my favorite Zeppelin songs. Kinda makes me feel sometimes..!!!!
