Songs like this are what separate Led Zeppelin from their contemporaries....they occupy their own rarified air.

I waited 4 hours in 1975, at the Galleria shoping mall in Houston, and the tickets sold out. I was 15 and a friend of my older brother had 4 tickets he was selling for the impossible price of $20. (Twice the face value). In 1977 I waited and 8 people away from purchase, they sold out. I was crushed twice in 2 years. My older sister got 4 tickets from her boyfriend, whose father was an investor in the Summit arena. A friend of mine stole the tickets out of my drawer when I went to the restroom while we were at my house. Four days before the concert, another friend found out who the theif was. My older sister's boyfriend and I went to his house and threatened him, got 3 of them back and I went. Page was in bad shape, but after the first couple songs, they were awesome. It was their last U.S. tour. Kind regards , Scott Rowland

Watching you brings back distant memories. When this first came out I used to put the headphones on, turn the lights out and like you close my eyes and let it take me away. "Physical Graffiti" was their best release and I only say that because it was a double album. ALL ZEP IS AWESOME!

Jimmy Page had worked out an all instrumental version of this song and had even recorded several harmony guitar parts for it when Robert Plant came up with the lyrics, which are dedicated to an old girlfriend who, ten years earlier, had made him choose either her or his music. Plant explained this in an interview in 1975: "Let me tell you a little story behind the song "Ten Years Gone" on our new album. I was working my ass off before joining Zeppelin. A lady I really dearly loved said, "Right. It's me or your fans." Not that I had fans, but I said, "I can't stop, I've got to keep going." She's quite content these days, I imagine. She's got a washing machine that works by itself and a little sports car. We wouldn't have anything to say anymore. I could probably relate to her, but she couldn't relate to me. I'd be smiling too much. Ten years gone, I'm afraid. Anyway, there's a gamble for you." Thanks to Greybeard and Harri.

A Led Zeppelin masterpiece! One of my all time favorites. Way back in my stoner days this was one of my go to tunes. Still has that magic!
    Thanks for the flashback! ✌

So many guitar layers sweetly arranged. Jimmy would not let anything leave the stable until perfection achieved. Find a bad song , I challenge anyone with a soul and ear for music.

From the 1975 album, "Physical Grafitti", Jimmy's original intention for this song was for it to be an instrumental. The title came from an ultimatum from a girlfriend from 10 years ago, which made him choose her or music. Luckily he choose music. This song is layered in multiple riffs on top of each other, with a scattered tempo throughout with great instrumentation. Great tune. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Greybearded Music Man. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
