Probably the same reason why domestic abuse victims stay with their spouses or defend them. Also, shock plays a role; its hard to think immediately after an event like this, so its good to have a third party like the BF convince the victim to press charges. There is also the added responsibility of going to court to testify and all the mess that involves. Then, embarrassment and shame (usually from people who have issues with anxiety.) Honestly, the investigating officers need to let them have a couple of days to calm down and then pay them a visit to ask again about pressing charges and why its a good idea to do so.
There's a strong social impetus to not rock the boat, in general, and a lot of us are surrounded every day by people who would consider anything that didn't require a hospital visit in the category of 'why are you making a fuss over such a little thing'. Anyone who's worked a job in retail or the service industry or anything similar, has probably been told at least once that the customer is more valuable than they are and their job is to take the abuse (not phrased that way, usually) and try to make them happy. This trains an awful lot of people to think they don't have a right - even once they're not working there anymore - to kick up a fuss (complain, press charges, etc) over something like a shoulder grab, a finger to the chest, or even a shove that didn't result in any 'real' injury.
If sex offenders have a list, I believe Karens should have a list too. So they cannot be in public areas without a chaperone and everytime they move, they'll have to go knock on their neighbors' houses and introduce themselves as a registered Karen as mandated by law.

Game store slapping Karen story - Officer 2 needs a few days' suspension, he doesn't deserve to be a cop unless he gets retrained. What a moron, and he's WAY more dangerous than the moronic Karen since he's armed.
It's officers like him which is why the karens played the tactic They do. I still remember that one story where karen tried to pretend she got hit by The poster of that story's car When she started a fight and refused to move out of his way. And when the two officers came She tried to pretend she had been hit and was left on the ground. The younger officer the poster noticed was already reaching for his taser. But luckily the poster avoided getting tased Because the guy's older partner held him back and told him he knew what was going on. That just shows that karen's have done this so many times veteran officers are starting to catch on to when they know they've been given the bogus call! They believe there will be no consequences for them, and if consequences come their way, they'll just scream that it was the officer who did it And they had no involvement when they know They did but we know Karen's despise responsibility
Especially when OP said, "only if she will stop hitting me." He literally got hit and the cop still had his taser on him. Shoot first and ask questions later type of person. Good grief.
Story 1: if some woman gets hurt on my chest and the fact the only language she understands is English. She shouldn't travel. Also as a woman with big girls I would of happy grabbed my own and said sarcastic "they are? I'll be sure to ask my husband the next time he's down there 😂"
Story 5: Karen here needs a big dose of Patience. Her impatience just resulted in severe harassment, a bit of assault, toddler-level tantrums, and a trip to the station. Grow up
I used to have a ton of patience for most things (other than physical assault), but as I've gotten older, my patience for BS has reduced tremendously. Life is too short to waste it on BS!
That story reminded me of my then 4yo granddaughter having a tantrum. I told her she wasn't having a proper tantrum, and needed to lay on the floor pounding her fist and heels. She did, so I took a video for her mom a 😂. She hasn't given a tantrum since, just very angry faces.
I do the same with my son. I will ignore him until he stops. Or record him and tell him that I will send it to his aunt. He doesn't do too many public displays of embarrassment but a video stops it quick. He had a major tantrum during one of our walks and I sat down, took out my phone, and started playing my game until he stopped. Once he was done, I made sure he was okay and we continued on.
@@aqacefan Unfortunately, I don’t think anyone saw the assault and since OP is a kid I guess she didn’t think to mention it as a legal issue with real consequences for the -toddler- Karen throwing a stupid tantrum.
The. Best way to deal with someone with an attitude……. Just. Point and. Laugh. …the more they get upset ….. the more you. Laugh ….. have a. FUN. DAY. !!!!
I hate it when people touch others. The other day I had my resting face on because I was doing my Physical Therapy exercises, and this lady kept telling me to "smile, you should smile." So she approaches closer to me and, with her arm thumbs up to the sky, taps my left shoulder so her arm bang into it. That is when I got upset and go, "Please do not touch me. I injured my left shoulder." She looked shocked and proceeded to walk away. Why do I have to smile for people? It feels weird and get comments like that all the time. Also, that is not the first time or will it be the last time people had touched my shoulder especially that left one.
I got that a lot too. I'm Autistic and my facial expression is usually bland and emotionless and I've had people come up to me and ask me what was wrong or why am I angry, usually when I'm deep in thought and not feeling particularly anything at the moment. When someone says I should smile more, I shrugged and said "Why should I smile for someone else's benefit when I'm not feeling it, wouldn't that make me fake and untrustworthy?" I get the whole touch thing too. I barely tolerate shaking someone's hand. I have to feel really comfortable with someone before I can handle them touching me even on the shoulder without jerking away in reflex.
@@meh2510 I know exactly what you mean, especially as I am too on the Autism Spectrum. I legit only think I naturally smile when something fun is happening. When I am deep in thought like you said happens to you, then I too have a resting face on.
Seriously? How can the response to "by federal & state law you're guilty of assault by poking me in the chest" be to assault the person even more❓❓❓ What is wrong with people nowadays that they constantly feel that laying their hand on someone else (no matter if an employee or not) & assaulting them is acceptable ❓❓❓❓
Yes, it's clear when someone attacks someone else When no aggressive actions were made It's a huge indication that this person has a huge keeping their hands To themselves problem. Wouldn't be surprised if someone told them. One day they're going to put their hands on the wrong person And they're gonna get a painful Response. And as stories like this shows they ran into that person. Or in my case they touched the wrong person. I was eleven when some karen touched me When I refuse to do some service she thought I was an employee "Somehow" (I was big yes, but smaller then older teens you expect to see working at kmart) and let me give you a few clues on how that ended. I was there with my mother, and I am Black. Do the math on what happened when my mother looking for me in the electronics where she let me hang out in as I know not to walk off with strangers or leave the area till she gets me. Comes across some grown white woman manhandling me and then slapping me on my face! Let's say that woman had a black eye, a lost tooth and some hair loss (my mother is PROUD on how she FIGHTS DIRTY AND ROUGH! She doesn't like fighting, but if she has to she WILL make you regret picking one with her or attacking her first!) And camera caught her act on me so we went home with some free shit and Karen going to jail (serves her right, Seriously i'm introvert and even then I remember trying to tell this crazy lady I am not an employee. I was wearing a lot of red but Everything I was wearing was red. So in that way you Could even confuse me. I mean it was raining that day and I was still in my raincoat As we went to kmart after my mom picked me up from school that afternoon As she was stopping there before she took me to the nearby Toys r us as it was my birthday so I had a "promised video game she lets me pick" awaiting me (This was back before they created the R zone and you had to pull a ticket and bring it to the cage to be able to buy a game, basically the end of the SNES era and entering the N64 era man I'mfeeling old LOL)

I’ve dealt with something like this, and boy the person who tried to grab my shoulder met my mother ready for a fight. My mother was a wrestler in high school and can almost fly when she is furious. 😂 That person ran away from us so fast and farted down the aisle.
Story 3: Amazing how that woman keeps digging herself deeper with these slaps and kicks. And the police need to first check the cameras before pointing fingers while keeping an eye on all suspects before they get blasted on social media.
Dude came up to me while I was shopping and asking to talk to a manger because he wanted to get a job in the store. Told him I don't work here and suggested he go to the front desk and went to walk away. He then had a tantrum. A grown ass dude who looked in his 30s having a tantrum, I was seriously stunned. He was throwing things off the shelves. When an actual worker came they asked what's wrong and he wouldn't calm down and the police were called. Turns out the dude was high on drugs and was having a bad trip. Smh, he was arrested and taken away. I always wondered if he jailed.
3:15: Well, it may be an Italian restaurant, but I can GUARANTEE you that most of the staff speak Spanish, and the Italian owner probably does as well....
The slap happy karen actually believed it was her right to slap him because she's older. My family karen (ex mil) still tells how she was correcting a disrespectful child and got arrested, she slapped a perfect stranger and thought it was her right because back when she was younger people use to regularly beat other people's children and call the parents to let them know why they did it.
The OP's husband should have told the Karen in the first story, when she told she will never come to that restaurant again: "I'm sure the owner will be very happy when I tell her that, nobody wants such a rude and ill-mannered customer, disturbing the other customers, in their place." Or something similar. Okay, I guess that with a Karen that might have ended with an escalation that might have required calling the cops. 😃 Have to say I love that last story.
Story 4: I was shocked that OP didn't press charges. He could have gone to jail for a few days. OP is going to need the video and police report for when the assailant files a civil lawsuit against her for assaulting him.
Story 3: I don't get how cops can go from: "Dispatch: There's an old woman attacking a man at this store" to: "Cop when he gets to the scene: Hey you man there, let go of the old woman that YOU're attacking". Do cops forget to breathe if dispatch doesn't remind them from time to time?
It really does seem that way doesn’t it 🤣 but in all seriousness that’s the way they were trained they need to be ready for anything but cop number two was definitely in the wrong for still keeping his taser drawn on the guy that was being assaulted
Story 5) Seems someone's dealt with children before. That Floor Manager did exactly what should be done to people acting like complete children, Ignore them!
Story 3: So not only does Karen not know how to be respectful to other people, including physical assault, but she was in the wrong store the whole time, likely not knowing that some stores exist for tabletop games and the like. Maybe Karen was raised in a time where it was normal to just slap people and stuff, but even then we're in a "No slapping" time.
That last story... manager is clearly a parent whose kid(s) successfully made it out of the toddler stage without becoming tyrannical. Because rule 1 of parenting toddlers is "don't give in to their tantrums - ignore them and when they see they aren't getting attention, they calm down." Too bad it doesn't always work on Karens though. At least the cops helpfully put her in a time out, however.
That is actually incorrect. You should never ever ignore a child under any circumstances. That is kind of a myth really. Karens on the other hand, just ignore away 😉
THIS was my Favorite managers reaction I've heard so far!!! Really REALLY Hate the ones who say 'you're fired' because they both know that the victim doesn't work there & think they are oh so funny!

Story 1: I would love to hear an Italian speak Spanish gibberish. Story 2: That Crazy Customer must have Alzheimer's, Dementia, and a whole host of other "above the neck" problems. Story 3: If this is the 12th time that she has pulled this off, why was she not yet institutionalized? Who could imagine going into a game store, and coming out with a pair of shiny bracelets? Story 4: I hope that his fingers are dislocated enough that they cannot be popped back into place. That alone will help him keep his hands off of other people. Story 5: Haha. Discounted shoes, Subway combo meal, and a job offer. Thank you, Karen.
I am willing to ask people I see in stores if they know where something is, even if I know they aren’t employees. If it is someone doing end caps, “Do you know” or “do you work here”, “while you are waiting to be served, do you know” is my question for obvious customers. Other times I just stand near a counter and wait for someone to be free. This week in a buffet I talked with 4 families and each one seemed happy that I had approached them. I asked if they knew about specific scholarships and told them how to apply. Other shoppers frequently comment that I seem happy. The flip side is that, the second time the woman that wanted video games jabbed the guy in the chest, had it been me there is an even chance I would have dislocated her finger. In a year and a half only one mother has been grumpy.
I'm washing either my beautiful bi-black or the bi-blue Shetland Sheepdog and the guy starts making so much noise that they (who NEVER growl) start growling, you're getting sprayed with the water until you leave. You're pushing my buttons to that point and my babies are having to think of defending me, you don't need help, you need to go the f-away. As for Karens who stamp their feet and start whining, screaming, and such, I may pull my blessed mom's (rest in peace) trick and start doing the same thing right back at her. She wants to be a 2 year old, I'll play along. When my little sister did that, throwing herself on the floor, kicking and screaming in a typical 2-year old tantrum, mom threw herself down right beside her and did the same thing. The baby stopped the tantrum and looked at my mom like she lost her mind. Got the kid's attention and she stopped. Maybe Karen will do that same thing. It would be fun to see.

They allowed this guy to be assaulted because they just automatically believe the woman. Would be interesting to see how many men vs women physically attack random strangers in the public. Im thinking it will probably be more women than men, but would be interesting to either be proven correct or wrong.
Same reason many men in abusive relationships don't come forward. Also embarrassment. This stigma needs to change! Just like Karen's, they don't change because they've gotten away with it a Lot!!!
If anyone tried to spin me around in a store, they’d get the full whack of my steel crutches against their legs ! They probably wouldn’t touch me again - that’s if they were still standing ! LOL
Story 2: Employees really should start telling these idiots "I can't fire a customer" and leave it at that. Story 3: OP's friend only needed to wait a bit and they would have gotten their dice back :) Story 5: This is a true manager and he showed how to handle a Karen...just ignore them...wait on the actual customer...and call the cops on the Karen. Done!
My guess is, considering the first story was at a Italian restaurant, Ms. Karen probably had a few too many glasses of wine. In vino veritas- and in this case her veritas was being a shithead.
Not fired, reprimanded, no officer should loose their job over a Karen. It should just be put on their records and used as a training exercise in LISTENING.
Story 2: I’ve heard of oblivious but geez. I’m betting if he was on the titanic he’d demand they start moving again and to stop overflowing the tubs and pools. Story 5: Time marker: 18:40 , I’d have responded “No I don’t because I don’t wear those kind of shoes nor that size,” Marker: 20:46 = Throwing a tantrum? Is she into AB play or something?
For the karen slapping OP story .. I would have talked to the supervisor and demanded that the police officer be punished as well; I would sue the police/city for what they did and maybe even demand that that cop loose his job and never been allowed to work as police ever again

I'm waiting for a chance to summon my inner Burt Gummer.... "Is your head up your arse for the warmth!?"
@@lancerevell5979 Either response will work. You can't be subtle with such people. Hints don't work.
Twice I had to deal with aggressive Karen's who started conversations screaming "EXCUSE ME" at me. My response both times was to yell back "Why? Did you Fart?" Incident ended.
@@michaeldursse2274 Good! I'll try to remember to use that one. But I haven't needed it -- yet. I was in a supermarket today and talked to about 6 or seven people. I just enjoy talking to people and I'm a bearded old man so I don't get mistaken for an employee. But I used to when I was young.
"Did you have to study hard to become intelligent enough to be classed as a moron, or does it come naturally?"
"I don't work here, I don't even live in the country."
I do not believe, by any stretch of the imagination, that elderly folks are the ones keeping gaming stores in business.
What's even more amazing than a Karen having friends is one having friends who are actually reasonable and still want to be friends with her. Masochists, maybe?
Good grief.
If each person was telling a different story I’d ask for witnesses & security tapes.
Suspension without pay
@@Shinyspddmn It would be a suspension with pay in the US, because criminals defend each other
Story 1: if some woman gets hurt on my chest and the fact the only language she understands is English.
Karen should have been arrested for assaulting a minor, as OP was only 15.
@@aqacefan Unfortunately, I don’t think anyone saw the assault and since OP is a kid I guess she didn’t think to mention it as a legal issue with real consequences for the -toddler- Karen throwing a stupid tantrum.

Story 1: You wanna know why karen is out with her "friends" and not out with her partner. It's because she has no husband waiting for her at home.
Her hubby probably divorced her and got the kids.
It sounds like her friends are about done with her too. It has to be embarrassing to go anywhere with her.

When someone says I should smile more, I shrugged and said "Why should I smile for someone else's benefit when I'm not feeling it, wouldn't that make me fake and untrustworthy?"
I get the whole touch thing too.
Seriously?
How can the response to "by federal & state law you're guilty of assault by poking me in the chest" be to assault the person even more❓❓❓
What is wrong with people nowadays that they constantly feel that laying their hand on someone else (no matter if an employee or not) & assaulting them is acceptable ❓❓❓❓
Those people do not think at all.
They want what they want and they don't care how they get it.
One thing Karen's lack is situational awareness (This term gets used a lot in the military.). It's about knowing what is going on around you.
If these people will put their hands on strangers, they probably hit their loved ones too.

If I see a woman flying at me I would be scared shitless and immediately run away too🤣
Got to love the fart.
Story 3: Amazing how that woman keeps digging herself deeper with these slaps and kicks. And the police need to first check the cameras before pointing fingers while keeping an eye on all suspects before they get blasted on social media.
I agree the cop is lucky the orignal poster didn't get the cop fired if that was me I would had warned them to put the tazer away
Too bad the Karen didn't get herself tasered. 🤨
Guess there will be no chance at a job there for him.
😃
Have to say I love that last story.

Story One: Karen has obvious never watched any mob movies before. Gotta be careful who you're mouthing off to in an Italian restaurant, lol! XD
That last story... manager is clearly a parent whose kid(s) successfully made it out of the toddler stage without becoming tyrannical. Because rule 1 of parenting toddlers is "don't give in to their tantrums - ignore them and when they see they aren't getting attention, they calm down."
Too bad it doesn't always work on Karens though. At least the cops helpfully put her in a time out, however.
That is actually incorrect. You should never ever ignore a child under any circumstances. That is kind of a myth really.
Karens on the other hand, just ignore away 😉

The finger story is an example of: Be careful of who you mess with. You never know what they're capable of, or willing to do.
The last story had the Karen assault the OP by slapping them, who was a minor. She would have been going to the station regardless of charges.
