      Funny how a Karen is known for wanting to speak to the manager for petty reasons, but when one IS a manager, they are completely incompetent and abuse the power until getting a knock on the door from good ol' karma.

    LOL blinker fluid! When I was in the Navy I was a photographer. I was in a P3 outfit in Brunswick, Maine. We were deployed in Bermuda. Russian tour boat would dock at the port. We had a junior office come in and turn in a roll of film. It didn't come out. And she asked why. My friend told her someone had forgot to add the focusing fluid to the developer. She had a big smile on his face. He explained the joke and showed her how to use the camera and took off the 5 filters she had on the lens and just put the UV filter back on. She came back with some good shots of the Russian tour boat and some suspicious antennas on the upper deck.

    What's with customers thinking there's an in-store shopping service where you walk in and hand an employee your list and they shop for you? Any service like that is always something you do online then you park in a spot and they bring it out to you.

    • @quiestinliteris
      @quiestinliteris ปีที่แล้ว +19

      That used to be the way all grocers and mercantiles worked! But I don't think that's really been a common thing since the 40s. So clearly these people are all just really out-of-touch vampires.

    • @merlinathrawes746

      I'm just old enough (67) to remember a few general stores in a couple of very small villages where you did tell the clerk what you wanted and they got it for you. But that hasn't been the norm for many, many years now. If you want someone to do your shopping nowadays, you make your list on a website with a store that has that option, like Walmart.

    • @wolphin732
      @wolphin732 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I had one place where most of the food is behind the counter... so if you have a list they are fine working from it. But it's only a small shop with only the one isle with a counter between the staff with most of the stuff and the place for customers and some of the cheaper items.

    • @LatitudeSky
      @LatitudeSky ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @quiestinliteris That's true. Old grocery stores were just like that. The founders of Piggly Wiggly invented most of the help yourself style of shopping. But the "fetch me my list" style lasted into the 90s with places like Service Merchandise. So it hasn't been totally extinct that long. Unfortunately.

    You see that last video?? The guy didn't take any of Karen's crap and she just left dejected.
    If more people were like this, there'd probably be less Karens. Most of the time managers try to coddle them, give them free stuff, or even fake fire someone who didn't even work there to satiate these people, resulting in them just getting worse and worse. No nonsense taken, that's what I like to see.

    • @lynprincevalli5221
      @lynprincevalli5221 ปีที่แล้ว

      I completely agree! Far too many managers try to "please" everyone and when you try to appease a Karen, especially when you expect the assaulted person to go along with it like the fake firing situations, you just cause more problems for the rest of us. The more they get away with the more they will try! Corporations are the worst with this as well! They set the rules, expect the workers to enforce them then cave to Karen's all the time so the employees have no recourse and the Karens just show up again and again with more bull!

    The old man who threw the chair was clearly trying to go for a "I want free food" scam by blaming someone he thought was an employee. The wedging in the corner thing probably set him off, as some people think the corner seats are only for employees.
    I am forever stonkered by the idiotic claim that "you must be lying that you don't work here, just do your job" screed. It's beyond insulting to automatically assume that they "must be lying". There were periods in my history where that would have earned a clout in the mouth.

      Yeah, but he might not want to work for her, considering she doesn't like taking "No" for an answer and that the CEO warned him to stay away from that museum because she might "try something". She might be a nightmare to work for.

    • @Ryujishida
      @Ryujishida ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@weirdredpandaI doubt they were being literal about the "doesn't take no for an answer". When people use that turn of phrase it typically just means they can be persistent. And by "try something" I doubt he meant something illegal, probably just something like start a program where the NHM starts a program to start hiring teens.
      Also, she might very well be amazing to work for, but that wouldn't matter, as sh I just the hiring manager for the NHM. Not the manager OP would be working under as a tour guide.
      You should stop jumping to weird conclusions based on nothing. As the entire post is framed as a bit of a humble brag that OP is so good at there job that another museum's hiring manager was trying to scout him away from his current museum.

    Walmart does offer grocery pickup now. So technically you can order an employee to get your groceries now.

      I was working as an exit greeter in the garden center at Wally-World in 1998. A lady pulled up to the gate and demanded I go get the things on her grocery list. I told her I couldn't leave my post and she threw a fit, demanding I get her the manager. I called the store manager, not the garden center manager, and he got a cart boy to do her shopping for her. She paid with a credit card and went on her way, never having left her car, or the spot she was in. I asked why he did that and he said, "She's rich." I was very angry!! 😲😡😡😡

    • @ryukaze7392
      @ryukaze7392 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      True, but its not like how Karen did it. Afaik, you can't thrust a grocery list at an employee and expect them to "go fetch" as Darkfluff put it.

    • @pineberry212
      @pineberry212 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@ryukaze7392 There is at least a full layer of separation from the employee, and they are paid to do it. So thankfully (at least at Walmart) you can tell the customer that they can shop online and do pickup. Though knowing people, that won't stop the issue of demanding they take your list.

      Well, *not* sure *if* it was true, but *if* any of the old movies about the 1800s - the 19th century to early 1900s - early 20th century is true, employees did use to do shopping for customers, back when stores weren’t big, didn’t have many employees or corporate. So, it seems that any entitled people are stuck in the past.

    • @merlinathrawes746
      @merlinathrawes746 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@whitewolf3051 It was true. Most of the stores had everything behind the counter, the customers couldn't get to things so the clerks got everything to the counter for purchase. A very different way of life than what we have now. I'm 67, but can remember a few "general stores" that still existed when I was a kid and that's how they were set up.

    Story #1: I actually did ring myself out once. This was about 25+ years ago, and I was at my local package store buying lottery tickets. I was a regular customer and I used to talk to the owner about lottery, since at that time, I was very familiar with the lottery machine, having used one at my current job at that time. One late afternoon, the owner was busy with customers that she could actually make money on (at the time, CT Lottery paid a commission of six cents on every ticket purchase, no matter the total cost), so she said, since I was familiar with the lottery machine, I should just punch out my tickets and pay for them, which I did. Took me all of abut two-three minutes to do.
