Story 5: Stitch his name on his clothes. Didn't those stupid cops check the cameras.
What kind of crazy world are we living in that people would have to stitch their name on a jacket, shirt, or pants so people won't try and steal them.

    • @ryukaze7392

I'm surprised that the manager and employees didn't think of checking the cameras also. Like...OP came into the restaurant with the article of clothing on. There was no reason for OP to stitch his name into the jacket *shakes head* wtf...

Sounds totally made up. There are cameras everywhere, and people would have noticed him pulling the jacket off of a girl. She would have been shrieking before he managed to put it on. However, it's the US, so cops are dumber than spit, so I guess there's that.

    • @buckeyenative1365
      @buckeyenative1365 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +46

That cops just put people into handcuffs without FIRST asking their side of the story or checking the cameras is a huge rights violation. In the US, one is considered innocent until proven guilty. Also, you dont have to prove yourself innocent, the accuser has to prove you guilty. In this case, the entitled idiot has to prove the jacket is hers and that OP stole it. That lady and her brat should spend a few days in jail for making a fake emergency phone call and accusing OP of bad touching.

I haven't had my name on my clothes since I was in 5th grade and went to Girl Scout camp! What kind of logic do they teach at police academy? Maybe OP should have his name on his car, house, kitchen table & chairs? Maybe get a rubber stamp made to cut down on possible carpal tunnel! 😂 OP should have asked that cop if all of Their clothes has Their name on them! 😊

Unfortunately I had a friend who had more or less the same thing happen to her with a leather jacket that had been a college graduation gift from her grandfather. Unfortunately in her case by the time the police got her story and the confirmation that, yes her name actually was embroidered on the inside pocet, the mom/daughter duo that had claimed she had stolen the jacket from them had ditched with said jacket. However since the jacket was worth well over $500 she was able to proclaim it stolen. Unfortunately it later turned up in a pawn shop absolutely ruined (she was pretty sure they tried to run it through a washing machine) but the police were able to track down the mom through the pawn shop's records. My friend sued her and the mom ended up having to reimburse her for a new jacket of the same style from the company which sucked for her because they actually cost more at that point and was also charged with a few other charges by the police like misuse of police services and evading investigation (she had been told to stay or at least she couldn't take the jacket until the investigation of events was finished). So yeah, these things do happen.

Would have prepared myself the moment she said "so I plug it in" to put her in her place and say what you just said. Like "Bitch, why the hell are you talking like my new tesla is the car I'm offering?!" in my head. Seriously, Karen's are just a hoot! You offer something for free and their first idea is that "they deserve" what you replaced the free thing with instead. Like "you should be ashamed trying to pawn used stuff to them" or something! Seriously the offer would have been retracted the moment she thought she was "cute" with her "karen act!" (Had my OWN bad experiences with people playing this EXACT game! Problem for them is "I became IMMUNE to shaming tactics when I was TEN after dipshits WORSE then they abused the HELL out of it on me!" Ironically my mother was also the same, people abused Shaming tactics that she's now "a karen's worse nightmare!" We usually when talking mock and laugh at all the "Shaming" attempts made on us in the past and "how well that worked out for the attempter!" Especially if us not helping them would fuck them over BIG TIME! We never hide the fact we're willing to help as long as your not a DIPSHIT! Yet not that many people THINK to not be assholes! Many THINK being an asshole will get them what they want, only to regret it when they discover any aid and help just got retracted! Frankly "being the bigger person" with me, my mother who taught me and my siblings this as well. Is "Not being the Biggest SUCKER around!" As Drago once said "If they die....they die!")

A 9-year-old making a really good cake on her first try is impressive and she should be proud, between that and the fact it was her birthday, it absolutely was her day, her moment. Definitely very childish to try to take that away from her, especially for her grandfather. I cannot fathom how someone can reach that age and somehow not grasp that a birthday party is a celebration of the person having the birthday. It's a time to sit down, shut up, put yourself aside, and enjoy the festivities.

Years ago, I worked in a construction job. Now I have bad eyesight and at the time, I had prescription glasses and prescription sunglasses. This was many years ago, before transition lenses that change automatically in the sun. My prescription sunglasses were pretty cool. They were aviator style with gradient lenses, meaning they went from dark grey to light grey. They looked pretty cool. So I was inside , working on something with a number of other people. We all had buckets that we carried around to keep our stuff in. I had my regular glasses on and my sunglasses in my bucket. So I go to get something out of my bucket and I notice that my sunglasses are missing. I go around to others asking if they'd seen them and somebody said that they saw a new guy who spoke only Spanish put them in his pocket. I went to my foreman and told him that that guy had my sunglasses. The foreman spoke to the guy and he said the glasses were his. I told the foreman to have him put them on and walk down the stairs. Knowing he couldn't do it because of my heavy prescription. He just handed them back to me. Freaking liar and thief.

Kinda like a trick cops use when they say they want your ID or search your car sounding like it's an order when they can't compel it and actually are asking consent. might as well give it a shot sometimes

Okay, literally just had my own AITA story. My mother just video called me but I was charging my IPad whilst trying to do my hair and she started complaining that all she could see was the ceiling, then goes all martyr-ish “Oh, call me back, you’re busy.” I say “You can talk to me now, I’m listening.” She goes “Oh, no, I don’t want to be talking to the ceiling!” I pointed out that sometimes she does that to me if I phone her and she’s busy, but I don’t moan. But apparently there’s different rules for her than there are for me. Now she’s mad with me for daring to suggest she talk without seeing my face for five minutes. Tell me - AITA?

In my capacity as a service provider, I was at a family's home where the mom and teenaged daughter were preparing dinner. The 9ish year old daughter was keen to cook as well, but mom didn't want to risk the child hurting herself. I had recently discovered a great chocolate mousse recipe in which the only "cooking" involved was a ½ cup of hot (not boiling) water and showed it to the mom, suggesting that the girl could make this dessert as a contribution to dinner, without risk of cutting herself, burning herself, or otherwise endangering the household. I hope mom let her learn some "cold cooking" recipes.

Story 1. Many years ago, my Dad worked for a small family firm. The owner had two of his sons working for him, Dad was in the lower 'ranks' but had been there many years. The younger son was due a new car but didn't want to swap from what he had. The owner had said that when his son got the new vehicle, the older one was to be passed on to my Dad, for work use. Fair enough - Dad could use it for personal needs, up to a certain mileage. The younger son stood his ground and said, if Dad (who was very reliable and loyal) was to get a different car, it should be the new one. After a lot of arguments between the family, Dad was sent to get a brand new car and it was his to use for work and pleasure, until it finally had to be sold, about 20 years later, as Dad no longer drove (he had a spinal accident). So sometimes the minions DO get a new car, not a rust bucket!

If they make enough of a fuss they can intimidate the victim to walk away, or convince authorities they were the victim of violence. Even then there's often limits to how much force you can use to take back property. It may not work in the end but at that point they are out of the situation...and cops are too busy to actively track down petty thieves.
The officers seemed like they were going that way by immediately believing the mom/kid, putting the guy in handcuffs, and making him prove his innocence. Instead of...looking at cameras or interviewing witnesses (doing police work). It's also shameful to tell him that he needs to inscribe his name in the clothes he's wearing or else the cops might immediately believe whoever says the clothes are theirs...because I guess it's easier than actually doing their jobs...

My 05 Tahoe was running rough randomly, so I stopped driving it to figure it out. After about a week, I was at a lost, so it went to the shop. They said I needed a new engine due to compression issues. That would be almost $13,000 for a remanufactured. That seemed odd to me, so I checked the dashcam. They barely spent 5 mins in it, waited over 2 hours to let me know. There wasn't enough time to check compression. I took it home and was gonna tinker with for a bit, I'm sure I could figure it out eventually. After another week, my mom told me to look for a truck to get for the meantime, so I had a vehicle again. I told her I'd be fine and I could get this working. My grandparents chimed in and said to get something for now. I don't argue with grandparents, lol. So I found a used 05 f250 pickup that was good and seemed to be working fine. So they bought it for me. 2 more weeks went by, and I finally fixed the Tahoe, without replacing the engine. It just needed some love and attention with TLC. I offered to sell the pickup so they could get my grandparents' money back. They refused and said that I'd need the truck for the work I do on my house, and you never know when you need a second vehicle. So now I have to vehicles that work very well and I can use either one depending what I'm doing. An SUV designed for overlanding or a lifted pickup. Both have 4 wheel drives. I'm so grateful for my family helping me when I clearly needed it and didn't expect anything in return.

It is absolutely offensive that people particularly men often get handcuffed prior to any sort of investigation being conducted whatsoever.

Man, screw those cops. As soon as they told me to stich my name into my clothes, and look 'em in they eyes and ask if they stitch their names onto their clothes, and if so, how many articles of clothing have they done that to.

The bus-thing happened to me, too. Minus the yelling.
I went from school with a bus (in Germany its a public bus). I had two seats, sat on the inner one, while my backpack was on the window-side. Then an old woman came to me and asked me to stand up. I just took my backpack on the floor and changed seat to the window-seat. I can't say, if there were any glares involved, but she kept standing, putting her bags on the now empty seat.

I once felt like a choosing beggar, I had a friend who's father bought him everything he's ever demanded (not asked for, demanded), he got a new computer and he asked if I wanted his old computer, I said yes and he said it'd be (can't remember the cost, but it was like... the exact same cost as it was when it was new) he said that's what it cost, so that's what it's worth. By that point it had two broken ports, food stains, and was absolutely full of dust, I kinda nagged at him that it's clearly not worth that much anymore, and he insulted me saying I was being an entitled choosing beggar, so I gave up and didn't buy the computer. He ended up just throwing it in the trash.

You are not being a choosing beggar when someone is trying to sell you something for more than it's worth (double, at least), and you tell them they can either reduce the price or pound sand. Even if it's a friend. Maybe more so if it's a friend, as a real friend wouldn't try to do that to you. You are simply refusing to be a pushover.

The lady on the buss story...
This actually happened to me ones. I was sitting on the bus, minding my own business, when a female demanded my seat. She claimed that she always sits there and wants to know why I just took her seat? The big difference from my story to OP's is that my "Karen" was 3 years old 😊
Her mom sorted it out, and we had a lovely chat the rest of the ride❤

Well, a Karen is pretty much someone whose social skills and capacity for empathy are similar to those of a three year old

@@aduckofsomesort Correction: it also applies to anyone sharing medical info to anyone other than the person in question. I did payroll/hr for 16+ years and the one thing that was drilled into us was that we could not share any health/medical insurance info or even FMLA info w/o verbal/written permission from the person in question. No exceptions.

It usually only takes 30 min. with screening for whole blood, about 2-3 hours apheresis. That one HAS to be done at the center and not on the bus, or in this case, tent, both because of the time and because you spend the time hooked up to a machine.

Story 1: About the only thing I might do if offered a free car would be to ask, "Hey, can you take it to a garage and get an estimate on how much it'd take to fix the AC, so I know what I'm in for?" but that's because, as I type this, it is 9:30 pm and 91F outside, so I'd either need to pay to fix the AC or, as soon as the ink was dry on the title change, trade it in for a car that has one (depending on which option was cheaper).
Maybe OP lives somewhere that isn't as near to the Pits of Hell, though.

Story 3: This sure reminded me of Vancouver bus 22, which duly serves a stretch of the city's more "fringe" population as part of its route. Oddly, I never had a problem with the ragged guys bumming a free ride; in fact, I've enjoyed interesting conversations with a few! But the shoppers could be a different story. For years, until I had a knee replacement, I'd limp on board with my cane. If no seat was free, I was content to grab a bar, take the weight off my knee and stand for the trip - I figured it was good exercise. But I was also not shy about doing it in front of a woman using a double seat (in the designated elderly/handicapped/pregnant section) to accommodate her shopping bags. On two occasions, it was a street person who pointed out that the disabled person could use one of those seats, at which point she would "suddenly realize" that, gather her gear, and move to a different seat farther back.
