This is for charlie hebdo
And screw your realism
I'm not the best at modeling, but something I'd do for couches is to bevel the pillows' edges and then extrude the beveled crease out just enough to get the pronounced seams, from there you can subdivide to smooth it and it makes the other parts feel nice and tight without needing to overcomplicate things. I've yet to come up with a better tactic, this one certainly isn't the best possible, but I'd hope someone else can do it better.
@@commodorex you should dislike family guy or f*** off
I download hdris from there!

The fact that andrew owns up to instances where he knows something is beyond him is something people really should learn

The characters are nightmare fuel but the living room is a dream! Incredible job!
which sucks bc i feel like he did them quite well but it just comes with the territory of making family guy characters realistic. they always look terrifying
Even imperfectly rendered, Lois is way out of Peter's league.
@@laur83 yeah. Uncanny valley and all that… objects are much, much easier
Amazing how much content you can "cram" in just seven minutes! Great work!
is that a compliment? i cant tell

Guys in this comment's replies... Are you neurotypicals? Please teach me your ways cause I felt like this comment was 100% genuine! Haha (damn)
Downloading other peoples models is a good way to learn how to fix bad geometry. I cant say how many times I thought I was going to save time only to spend hours fixing someone else's mess.
Depends on where you're buying it from. Some store fronts host literally anyone's models. Poliigon only hosts production quality stuff, so the chances of you downloading a shit model is basically zero.
@@JacquesCoetzerAU I didn't say anything about buying. There are tons of free models out there for most any subject.
@williamhurst6416 then if its free can't really complain if its shit

Every time I watch a video on this channel, I feel inspired to learn more about Blender. I love working with Blender and creating 3D models, but sometimes I feel overwhelmed by the amount of information out there. It's like I'm facing a huge mountain, and every time I try to climb it, the mountain gets bigger and bigger, and the top seems farther and farther away. I start to question whether or not I really want to learn Blender. Then I come across a video on this channel, and it reignites my passion for learning.
I realized I don't have to climb all the way to the top. I'm a few hours up the mountain, even though I'm nowhere near the peak the view I get is already pretty spectacular!
Shitty analogy aside, with an all-encompassing ecosystem like Blender it's rare to learn and know *all*. Specialize, learn a small self-contained portion well (e.g. just hard surface modeling, or just lighting in eevee, etc.), and then branch from there if you like.
I see channel experts more often recommending buying add-ons and models to save time (though some are free). It may cost money but it gets you closer to drag-n-drop ease for creating scenes. You save time and frustration if you can stay inspired to go for a _final_ render.
Learning Blender front to back is just daunting so I feel ya'.
I agree, I have been learning Blender now since beginning of September. I started with his donut tutorials and they are great. The geo nodes make my head spin, the things that can be done with them and how little I understand them make it like magical spell.
Agree with you, yazan. I got into Blender back in February using Andrew's donut tutorial. Then I moved on to his chair and anvil tutorials, and then made a bedside table by myself. Using what I learned in all those, I tried to make a "hotel room" from scratch back in April, and that was when I burned out. Haven't touched Blender since, though I miss it dearly. I'm just trying to find something to re-inspire me. I wish Andrew would bless us with a new tutorial...though perhaps he's waiting for version 4?
You don't have to climb it to the top, all you need is to know what you want to do, if you just need maybe create your animation start by modelling your character then model or gather the assets that you will need in the run (be specific), keep on the track and don't be intimated by the work of others, DONT TRY TO DO ANYTHING OR EVERYTHING IN BLENDER YOU HAVE TO DO SOMETHING.
I think the night one is better. The day one sort of looks like it's underground or something, because of the lack of different light sources. It just feels too dark. I think there should be more spilled light from outside on the stairs, inside the opened door etc. as if there is multiple windows in the house instead of just few in the actual modeled room
Damn! Although Family Guy is not my cup of tea, your realistic creation of it most definitely is. Outstanding job Andrew... Perfectly magnificent!
Don't you just hate this type of humor?
Holy crap
Never trust a man who says Family Guy is not his cup of tea. Red Flag.

your ways in talking and organizing the information is soooo nice and encourage us to figure out more info, I am watching your videos from 2018 till now and truly no one on the TH-cam has the same power of inspiration you have that made people fall in love with blender, thanks Andrew and keep posting
This is cool.
I remember the first tutorials you started making about 2 decades ago. You have definitely improved a lot and you definitely have quite the success story :)
Cheers Andrew! Happy you still making tut and fun to learn a few things after all these years.👌
1:07 Oh noooooo, he got trapped in there!😭😭😭
💀
Blender Guru is one of the best when it comes to tuts. Explains well and isn't afraid to reveal he's always learning -- just like me!
That is so good! Both the room and the characters!
To solve the issue of your uncanny valley situation with the character, you actually do have to model them in a cartoonish way to match the cartoon, like you have with everything else. It needs consistency, but then you can use realistic textures on the character to match your environment.
With the realistic lighting, but obviously basic looking scene and character, it will come together nicely as all the textures are consistent too. They're realistic but quite plain. So your character needs to match this
The Blender legend is back at it! Your videos are amazing!
Simply beautiful. This man inspired me to switch from graphic design to 3D modeling and animation and I can say I'm glad I discovered him two years ago.
Your videos are like therapy for me. You're so calm and collected, and I'm a C4d user 🤣. Great stuff as usual.
That is so cool, that you turned the Family Guy living room into a realistic one! I like the night one slightly better! Awesome job and great instructions on how you did it! 🧡
that was honestly so entertaining watching how you went about creating this. The one thing I noticed with the character creator models is the uncanny valley feeling imo kind of came from how they appeared to look more like wax figures from something like Mdme Toussauds. Perhpas no subsurf scattering on the skin? Can't really tell though. Amazing scene in any case, lots of super handy tips and tricks for modelling too.
its not about characters, its about the room as well, room feels unrealistic so everything look like toy story 4, and the denoising killed the texture details, I cant see any texture details in this video, everything look toyish not just characters, the wood doesnt feel wood and nothing almost look realistic although pathtracer is being used, even games with rasterizer looks more realistic.
So much respect for trying something out, knowing its a dud, then retracting it while acknwoladging somethings just don't work. Thats the reality of being an artist! Great work, much love Andrew!!
HE DIDNT DELETE THE DEFAULT CUBE 😭
Yessir
Dude's a beast. I think a lot of professors could learn from his conciseness. He packs so much useful, easy-to-understand information into the video.
So much fun watching you work on a project. Also seems so easy...
if you made this into a series, I would tune in every time
man that shear tip is great! I have been using blender for years and I still learn new tidbits every time I watch a video like this!
One important thing to note is that after you place the camera inside the cube, go to edit mode and select all the faces and hit shift + n to flip the normals.
He’s taught this in previous tutorials. Not sure if he figured we knew it or it’s just laziness like this render
I can also recommend to enable backface culling when doing these "inside of a cube as a room" kind of things as it makes navigation and visibility much easier.
@@toddc4437 I'm interested in learning blender but you seem to know more than Andrew. Can you direct me to some of the tutorials you have instructed?
@@jimothywayne I definitely don’t know more than him but that doesn’t mean I can’t call him out for being lazy and putting out a low quality video. He’s done realistic interiors before that are much better than this.
I like Andrew but the final render is lazy and sub par. Seriously go look at his other interior videos. They are great.
Also I resent the insinuation that you have to do something to critique it. That’s such an immature way to look at things. I can look at books, art, movies etc and form an opinion but I don’t make any of them. I think you might have a parasocial with Andrew which is weird and creepy. Our favourite creators can have faults
This is incredible work! Thanks for making my day 😊
awesome! its amazing how instantly beautiful the scene was when using all that high quality ray traced(?) lighting!
your channel is the most fascinating thing I have ever seen I am literally in tears
this is actually very informative Andrew.
🎉🎉🎉Nice work pankaj bhai ❤❤❤ keep it up full support from UP
A short time into the video and i am already impressed with the techniques .
I’m absolutely impressed by your mastery of this program.
👌Hindi voiceover was great, it's great for people like me, who doesn't know English very much
Bruh this is a lot of effort and you did a great job! 👍
1:06 I like how he just trapped the random figure inside the stairs
Can't wait to see more of this family guy battle royal project you are working on!
LMAO!! How you made Meg look had me dying! Great work as always!
Always throwing some lowkey gems🔥
This is a lot of fun, inspires me to try to recreate a living room from a different show like Spongebob or Rick and Morty or something.
I wish you could post more often, you always have awesome content, but I also understand you've already shared a wealth of information and are also busy with Polygon and other things. If you need video ideas, I'd love to see a series talking about the processes you guys use at polygon for your assets. They're all super nice quality and I'm always impressed. Obviously you don't have to give away all your secrets, but I just wonder what your process is for capturing or generating high quality textures, getting clean photoscans, capturing your own surface imperfections, and maybe even how you guys make HDRIs. I know you've made a couple videos about some of these things in the past, but it'd be cool to see the workflows now that you've had a few years with your own asset company, perfecting that process.
Thankyou gamoco bhai
I had some good luck creating those foam cushions by modeling the internal foam shape and then just using cloth shrinking factor to essentially shrinkwrap that with the actual cushion mesh. You can (and probably should) add extra tension creases with sculpting or normal maps though, so it's not a totally one-and-done technique.
This was very helpful, thanks!
Amazing hindi voice over brother
I like the music in background and your pleasant voice. thx for the video 🤍
looks so cool Andrew, i learned some methods from this video that I was doing in a hard way. thank you so much GURU🙏
I like the characters, actually! And the room/tutorial were great!

This is so fascinating. I'm glad YT's algorithm did its thing and I found your video 😁
Lois looks awesome, and Chris looks like an overweight chad. Good job! haha
Thank You For The Tutorials You Are Inspiring ✨✨
This has a huge work behind, wow
Stuff like this makes me way more interested in blender than I already am
Glad to see you making more videos again
any plans on making another fixing your renders vid? loved that vid a lot
Wow, this is like stepping into the Griffin household! The attention to detail is uncanny - from the quirky expressions to the spot-on voices. Truly impressive work!
I think the sofa cushions still do work because they are photoscanned out of position and so they look like intersecting individual cushions rather than multiple cushions squished together. Maybe it would be better if you photoscanned it in place.
As someone who appreciates, but knows very little about this type of thing, this was incredible to watch, your skill is insane!
This is surprisingly one of the best blender tutorials I’ve seen on the internet.
