Thank you so much for making this incredible video! since most of us have to rely on Ebay to purchase our Star Wars vehicles your tutorials are very helpful in showing what the fighter(s) should look like once restored, unfortunately Ebay has been taken over by very unscrupulous sellers selling junk at ridicules prices and gouging you on shipping fee's. Most Ebay B-wings are missing the canopy and the cockpit guns...so now we have an excellent reference to go by....Thanks again!

One recommendation; add some magnets to the inside of the wing and the lower s-foil wing. Keeps it from sagging when retracted. Otherwise, excellent job!
Thanks for the recommendation - to be honest, I didn't even notice the sagging or recognise it as being a problem. I do like the use of magnets though as a fastener 👍
Fantastic restoration Dave. Always so impressed by your composed, methodical approach. I got very stressed out with the TVC Slave 1 a few months back when I had to take it apart to fix the rings. B-Wing is a wonderful ship design and great toy 👍

Hi Dave! I really have two left hands and would never have dared to repair my B-Wing. Now I have a little more courage and will try to fix the wing mechanism. I found it admirable how calmly you approached the video. No rush, wonderfully explained and shown everything you need to know. The only thing I would have liked to have watched more closely was the thing with the pins and the trick of Toy Polloi, with the pins and all the drilling. That was too fast ... for me and my two left hands :-). But I'm sure I can find that either on their homepage or elsewhere on the web. Great job Dave! Thanks for this great video!

For the pins, Toy Polloi has done several videos on this technique. It can be more difficult but again one step at a time!! 🤘 Cheers!

Thanks Thomas! 🙏 Yeah very lucky with this one, hardly any yellowing. With regards to cleaning, I tend not to use water unless the item is caked in rubbish 😎 Instead I prefer to use wiping cloths - it can take longer and some areas can be harder to reach but that's just my preference 👍

I have now completely rebuilt my own plus another B Wing, so now they are complete and original 😁 I am now going through the bits that I have left over and I am about to begin rebuilding the third, which is the worst in terms of condition. It has yellowed considerably and the rear portion of the cockpit has suffered the same problem as the one featured in your video. I actually managed to completely disassemble the cockpit assembly by twisting and pulling the cockpit and rear ring until the rear ring popped off of the splined shaft and without causing any further damage.

@@VintageToyRush Thanks to your video for giving me the confidence to tear them down 😁 Yes, I will be retrobriting this one as I also have a severely yellowed AT-ST that I have managed to completely disassemble. I am going to wait until next year and do it during the summer so save faffing about with UV lights. In the meantime I am going to collect spares in order to potentially complete it. I'm also going to have a go at moulding a resin replacement cockpit "chin cannon" as mine is broken and nobody currently offers a 3D printed replacement. It's really quite exciting as I usually build scale models, so coming over to toy repair and restoration is really quite interesting!
Fab video will be using this to help me hopefully repair the electrics in my B-Wing I just bought which is mint in box and completely unused parts still sealed but the electrics are dead

Yeah, anything that has a motor from then is likely to stop working. Fairly easy to repair. And does seem the B-Wing has a weak cockpit although I suspect most of them have been dropped!! 👍

Hmm, did we straighten the laser? I was intrigued as to how that would happen.
Can't remember now, but it was either hot water or a hairdryer to heat it, then carefully bent back into shape 👍

For the cockpit cone I used CA glue (superglue) but with pins to strengthen the joint. For other types of plastic you could try plastic weld.
Fab video will be using this to help me hopefully repair the electrics in my B-Wing I just bought which is mint in box and completely unused parts still sealed but the electrics are dead

Hi Dave, I’ve just repaired my B Wing using this video, only thing missing is the end cap which you reattached to the canopy, do you know of a seller who supplies this part even as a 3d printed option? Cheers

B-Wing is always one of the weirdest rebel ships.
If you ever find them in descent condition hold on to them... I'm looking for all the ship of that size.

I have a B-Wing that does not make a sound, and the back of the cockpit is broken. Must have been a common issue.
Yeah, anything that has a motor from then is likely to stop working. Fairly easy to repair. And does seem the B-Wing has a weak cockpit although I suspect most of them have been dropped!! 👍

Nothing like a B 🤣 Some say it stands for Blade wing - it could just be that A / B were chosen for the next ships 🤷♂️
