I don’t understand the question, but I’ll try to answer: this channel is mainly for action figure history and to let collectors know about the history, current collecting market, and how to collect. Sometimes I throw in personal references about what I like and my opinions, and what I collect, and I have a run where I show how I collected a full run of figures.
Great video! I recently got a second Stormtrooper to stand guard next to my childhood one. It turned out to be the raised bar variant that has "China" molded on top of the raised rectangular bar on the back of his leg and "GMFGI" above the bar and "1977" below it. My childhood one has the smooth leg with "GMFGI" and "1977" below it without any country. This raised bar one was only $18 because he didn't have his blaster. He has excellent paint and isn't yellowed or pink hued though so it was a good deal. It's interesting how many variants there are of some of the figures depending on where they were made, what paint applications were on them etc. Man, I wish I would have gotten a vinyl cape Jawa back in the day! I didn't like them as a kid and passed up on them in favor of the cloth cloak ones. I still like the look of the cloth ones better, but if I did have a childhood vinyl cape Jawa, I could sell him and probably have enough to fund getting the rest of the figures I need to finish my vintage collection - if I skip the crazy expensive ones like Blue Snaggletooth. It's amazing what those go for. X Wing Pilot Luke was one of my first figures too. I played with him a ton so he's about as loose and faded as your original one. I love how well he holds a blaster. What a great figure he is! I consider Han Solo in Carbonite to be an accessory. He does indeed look great displayed and has always been fun to play with - but only along side other toys. Not so fun by himself. The Dianoga Trash Monster isn't poseable either but unlike the Carbonite block, it's depiction of a living creature that is fun to play with by itself, so I consider it an action figure. Made for a great tub toy for one thing. I do think that all of the other controversial ones like TaunTaun, Dewback, Wampa Ice Creature, Rancor, Probe Droid etc. are action figures because they are poseble and quite fun to play with on their own. I'm even tempted to consider the AT-AT and AT-ST action figures because of how poseable they are. It's a bit of a stretch though since they are treated as vehicles in the movies and other characters ride inside them. The AT-AT is so large that it also blurs the line between vehicle and playset. It even has foot pegs in it to stand your figures on. Great job on this video!
The microphone shouldn't be pointed towards Max Rebo, it should actually be pointed at Droopy McCool. Keyboardists don't need a microphone, but the horn does.

Thank you so much for doing this Joey! With this video I was able to put a value on all my loose Kenner figs and get an idea how much the collection is worth. If I were to pass, I want my wife to have a ballpark figure of how much to sell it for without getting conned.
Hey Bill, I’m glad I was able to help! I will be doing this video at least twice a year, updating the prices, so check back around February and I’ll do another update :)
I recently discovered your channel. Just wanted to say i really am enjoying your content . I been collecting for about 20 years now. I mostly collect newer figures, but i been getting back into the classic line. Im so kicking myself in the balls after watching this video. About 14 years ago me and my wife separated and i gave away a bunch of classic figures because i didn't feel like collecting them. Boy did i royally screw up because i had some of those POF ones and didn't think they were a big deal. I can't believe that barada was worth that much. I started to tear up when you said how much he was worth. I had a Stormtrooper luke, yak face, A wing pilot, and B wing pilot that i just gave away in a bag with other figures to my buddy. I also sold my pristine, fully complete kenner Death Star playset for $90.😢😢😢
Hey Lou! Welcome to the channel! I’m sorry life had to have you parting with your figures, but they are coming down in price - I am going to do an update video this year and will update the current price list . Thanks for watching my friend and MTFBWY
The classic Kenner figures sure have their charm if you grew up in the 80s.. of course the new vintage collection looks better. Squid Head for example was one of my favorite figures, recently got the new one (in a 4-pack Hasbro exclusive), and the recent one sure is of another level. Still wish I had the ones from my childhood but as late teenager I lost interest and they got lost or got destroyed by my younger brother. Ree-Yees is also in that new 4-pack, he looks more badass now but also liked the more cute version of the 80s. But yeah, obviously the new figures look way more realistic, compare 80s Bib Fortuna with the new version for example. Barada was the first figure I bought as a kid, that one doesn't have a decent remake. Ah yes, the Rancor.. that was a good one.
@@thepadawancollectorofficial It's big time nostalgia.. they had many great action figures back then, also loved He-Man, Mask, GJ Joe. But Star Wars were the best. The modern remakes of He-Man and Gi Joe aren't interesting imo, but some of the new Star Wars figures are pretty cool.
I think you briefly mentioned it, but in Europe at least where I live, all the power of the force figures were published on trilogo cards. So, I don’t have any of the coins, which I don’t miss. Got a few yak faces and amanaman which same as you I remember I thought are not Star Wars figures, but sold with a Star Wars logo...so my parents bought them an I neglected them for some time...nice video, though for me Star Wars is more what money can’t buy...my childhood memories:)
You are so right about memories that cant be replaced from your childhood! Thats why these toys and the original trilogy movies will be so spacial - thanks for taking the time to write and watch the video Pemechan!
Very nice episode. You know what I would like for you to research is how they mass-produced those paint jobs and show and detail how they paint the eyes and hair yes I haven't been able to find any of that on the internet.
The paint jobs were so varied. I have three different versions of General Madine and four if Bespin Luke. Three if the AT AT commander, two of Bespin Leia and two of the snow trooper. My favourite variant is the Macau Logray with the olive green stripes.
Also keep in mind there were multiple factories being Hong Kong,Taiwan, Macau and mainland China. I think there was also a factory in Spain which made the Greedo variant with the extra paint on the eyes.
The prices that I listed for the ones that I bought has shipping and taxes included (if it was applicable). The current prices are ones that it was sold for and didnt account for taxes and shipping - that would be dependent on where you live and your current local taxes.
Any recommendations for sources for weapons and accessories for the original Star Wars figures? Either vintage or reproduction is fine. I just got ahold of a bunch of figures from my childhood but all are missing their accessories. Thanks!
The Imperial commissary on Facebook is a great place to look for authentic accessories. So is orange Droid, Rogue 5 Toys, and Vintage Alliance. Those all deal in authentic and not reproduction.
My collecting passion is baseball cards, but if it weren't for that, I'd likely be doing vintage Star Wars - like so many, had them all back in the day. Question - you refer to some as the "Hong Kong" version - I assume that means they were manufactured in Hong Kong, but what are the other options?
Hey Mark! There were a multitude of manufacturing plants that Kenner and Palitoy used. Most of these were in Asia, like Hong Kong. These parts would be made and sent back to assembly plants for boxing and distribution. I hope that answers your question.
That Early Bird set originally, Luke with DT saber, Chewbacca's crossbow was green translucent, and R2-D2 had a real dark blue dome, Leia I think was mostly Dark Brown paint. Those later 8 SW figures, the Boba Fett offer 20 back is the regular debut card for them. Those first 20 backs are extremely rare, because mostly weren't out yet. Just like Bossk's debut 32A. Very, very rare on a 31A. You need an upgrade for your Luke X-Wing figure my friend 😂👌 Good job my Padawan 👍
Wow. Paying $100+ for a single figure is obnoxious. I'm glad for customizers like Stan Solo et al. making comparable quality / improved versions of most of these wallet cleaners for $50 or less. Especially with new collectors driving these prices up year after year, other options are inevitable and very welcome. Thank you for the overview and info!
Yes collecting these gets to be a pricey endeavor, so I’m glad you are able to work around that by using modern figures. Thanks for watching my friend!
That’s a grail piece! You can always post pictures up on my Facebook group called The Padawan Academy. If you have all of the trays, paper work, and the cardboard background with the pegs, the Kenner baggies, and it’s in pristine condition it’s worth thousands. If it’s just the figures, depending on how good they are it can be a couple hundred. If the figures are in ok or rough shape and don’t have their original accessories, you are looking at maybe 30 bucks for all of them
I swear I've seen somebody at some point holster the rifle on the back of the Leia/Boussh figure. I want to say the butt or handle ( don't know gun terms, sorry) will somehow wedge between two things on her backpack and the rifle will hold there if you push it secure. Maybe @thatjunkman was where I saw it done?
