  • Video covers how to fix a Whirlpool cabrio washing machine that is having spin issues. Issues including not spinning at all or incomplete spin cycles. Sometimes these machines require an extra spin cycle to completely wring out all the water. This video is part of my series "Free on Facebook" in which I repair, reuse, and recycle broken things I find for free.

    Glad you mentioned rps sensor.
I have a Cabrio that seems to fine, except it stops counting dow in spin at 17.
I was thinking maybe rps sensor.
I will also check for cracks in the stator.
    Comment?

Also, do i search my washer model number to find the part or does the part have a model number on it?

So my stator was cracked like yours. I didn't do the rpm sensor. I still have the same issue. Also will the codes clear if the issues are solved?

Could the RPM sensor be the cause of the problem? Not just the stator?

Hi! I bought a used one of these a few years ago. It always seemed really sensitive to off balance loads. It has gotten progressively worse until today it made it all the way to the rinse and spin cycle and gave me a plain "f" error code each time it quit.
I have taken all the wet clothes out and repositioned them and even removed ½ the load but I can't get it to go through the rinse cycle. I even powered it off, unplugged it and tried the drain and spin by itself and still no.
It acts like it's doing that thing where it's trying to shift the load to make it work and then errors out. While its trying to shift the load it making a really loud knocking noise when it's trying to shift modes, kind of like the sound when your bearings are bad on your car or the u joint goes bad.
Do you think this might be caused by that same issue?
I had a kenmore duet W/D combo before this one that had the spider arm crack after 3 years. I bought the whole new replacement drum and we never fixed it. The whole set is sitting in the garage along with the new tub/spider arm replacement still in the box!😩
My grandma had the same brown kenmore washer and dryer my whole life until she passed away. It ran for at least 25 years with only one repair visit! Why is everything so breakable these days! It's like they don't even last 10 years!💔
I would appreciate any advice you could give me right now... I'm just not in the position to replace a washer at this moment. 😢
    Thank you! ❤

My Whirlpool Cabrio made it 12 years without needing a repair, but I never loved it as the water sensor process seems to take forever. I'm torn now about bringing in a repairman to fix it or buying something new knowing the new ones are junk. It's not perfect, but I'm still hanging on to my 1989 Kenmore dryer!
My mom inherited a freezer from my grandma. It was still going strong at 40 years old. I was tempted to have it sent to my house when Mom passed, but it wasn't frost free and that's a deal breaker for me.

Great video! I took mine apart, and rotor/stator seem to be in good condition but still won’t initiate the spin! What else could that be?!

I looked at all of your video and you don’t seem.to have one where a whirlpool washer is not filling up. It appears to be a bad tub valve. I took it apart and it must be missing a rubber piece that shuts the tub. What is the correct name for this valve? Thanks

@@DuctTapeMechanic no. The tub valve. But I didn't have a discharge hose hooked up, so that is probably the reason it didn't fill and kept running out

18 months after bying a brand new from Lowes a spin sound like a jet is about to land on your roof. Costs more to fix than machine is worth. Piece of Sh***. Stay away. The best Whirlpool can take pride in doing is to offer you a 24 month payment plan to pay off your repair bill. Lol. Laughing stock offer!!
