What a great clear concise information. As I type my Kenmore is spinning like new!!! A tip for fellow :OLD FARTS" like me. Lay the washer down flat before you reassemble it! The angle thing works great for tearing it appart but that motor and transmission is a lot eaiser to handle in the reassemble with the washer flat. This is no way a critisim. The video was one of the best "Ican fix this videos" on TH-cam.. You saved me a bundle!!! Thank You a thousand times.
Yo! That tip about turning counter clockwise and pushing in saved me from calling a technician! I didn’t see that in any other videos. I spent half an hour trying to figure out how to get that transmission back on! You saved my sanity! Thank you!
As a guy with an old Series 90 Kenmore washer that stopped spinning, I can't tell you how much I appreciate this video-parts 1 and 2. Brilliant. I've been convinced I have to buy new machines, but nothing, and I mean nothing, seems to be built as well as these old machines. Bells and whistles? Sure. But basic, bulletproof functionality is hard to find. If I can get a new clutch and install it myself, and get a few more years out of these mid-90s machines, then I'm gonna be a happy camper. Thanks so much for posting these!
First, I just want to say thanks for taking the time to create and post such an informative video. Second I would like to give everyone a warning as there may be nothing at all wrong with their washer. I just found out that it is normal for the washer NOT TO SPIN during the first stage of the spin cycle; only the pump is activated. After most of the water is pumped out the motor stops for a couple of seconds then starts up again. You hear a click an then the washer spins and pumps out the rest of the water. I opened my washer one day during the first stage and thought it was broken because only the pump was working. I ended up taking everything apart before finally realizing this so I hope this helps someone.
I cannot thank you enough for posting this comment! Thank you so so much! I just put a new transmission in my washer and thought it was broken because it didn't spin up initially. I read your comment then watched my washing machine and realize nothing was wrong. Then I went and told my fiance and she told me she figured out a long time ago but didn't tell me because she didn't think I would believe her
Your little tutorial is one of the best I've seen on any repair, not too much bull, and no bad music, all the little tips you need not to screw up, excellent job, Thanks
I've done all this a thousand times at least and still learned a couple new things. I thought I was a master but you sir are truly a master of your trade and should be very proud. 💪 And your ability to communicate is another skill that is stellar 👍👍 Wishing you and yours all the best!
Thank you so much! This video may be a few years old but you just saved me over $400 on a new washer!!! I really appreciate it, seriously!! Not all heroes wear capes, some make TH-cam tutorials 😎❤
You are an excellent teacher of the student! My washer made a clicking noise and found out my coupler is bad will replace clutch too! Thank you so much! I have worked in a year and this is the best news I received, Thank you Holy Spirit for leading me to this gentleman!
Thank you so much for these detailed videos. There are others out there that show how to replace this, but yours really explains what one should look for to know when it needs replacing. I fixed my kenmore washer on my own and also cleaned out the massive amount of gunk buildup on the inner tub. Now it spins like new and no more smell, and saved us a ton of money!
I was about to throw in the towel and cut our losses with the 15+ year-old Kenmore Elite washer that stopped spinning, then I found Bill Newberry's videos and figured what the heck. So, following his excellent instructions, I ruled out the coupling, which looked OK. Again, I figured the machine was toast. Then I found his two videos (parts 1 & 2) detailing how to locate and check the clutch. Seemed to turn too easily, as he described, so I rolled the dice, ordered a new one ($60 with shipping), and not without some struggle, got it reassembled. And it worked, even with a heavy full load of towels. Newberry's guidance couldn't have been better.
Bill, I have watched many appliance repair videos on many repairs. I have to say you have some of the very best informative and visual ones I have seen. The way you make sure to be so complete in your lesson, ex. which way the washer goes on that fell down when pulling the transmission was wonderful. Showing four different versions of the agitator removal screw. I really felt compelled to write this review as when the video was complete, I knew that I had learned good information and in a complete way. I look forward to watching more and would find it a please to speak with you. I have a few questions on a non-profit company I have started that aligns itself around appliances and repair. I believe you could have some good input in this matter. Thank You Tim Sharp
Bill, you truly are a gift to all of us in the youtube classroom. Photography, easy to follow and understand instructions all top shelf. Like a good movie, I can watch it several times and still learn and enjoy. Thank you for the effort to make a most helpful tutorial. Blessings, and all the best from New Rochelle N.Y.
dear bill. I just wanted to thank you for your thorough video. your diagnostic approach helped me figure out that my clutch was bad and I was able to replace it for $40 and save myself some money having to replace and buy a brand new dryer. I truly appreciate you taking the time to do this for people. my favorite part was you showing with your fingers how when you turn the clutch it is bad. That is how I figured out what was truly wrong with my unit. thanks again bill
Great video, I have not looked under my washer yet, Its a 22yr old White Westinghouse. I'm hoping its the same style setup. My tub turns but not fast enough to remove the water from the clothes. To me, from what I have been watching, I hope it the coupling. But think it's the clutch. LOL The only mystery on my machine is the agitator and shaft are different from Whirlpool. But I guess I'll figure that out once I'm knee deep into it. TH-cam has been my go-to source for repair info. I have saved hundreds of dollars fixing, motorcycle, car, plumbing, cement work( tuck pointing ) , clothes dryer and now my clothes washer. Thanks to you and all the others doing these videos!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for making this video 11 years ago. I needed it this week and I was able to fix my washer with all of your great tips. Big thanks!!
Bill, I can not thank you enough for these videos. Repair guy quoted me 175 dollars to replace the motor coupling. Took me 3 hours with your youtube video, and the total cost was 24 dollars. It was idiot proof. My fiance also thinks I'm the man! Thank you again sir. God bless you and your family. =)
Thanks for the great videos and help! BTW, instead of replacing the clutch on my washer, I reconditioned the clutch by sanding the inner drum and clutch pads to de-glaze them, then cleaned them with alcohol and stretched the spring for a little more tension. My washer is to old spend 40-50 bucks on a new clutch when I can buy a used mint washer and dryer set on craigs list for 150. Cheers!
Such a helpful set of videos! After our 2006 Kenmore Elite washer stopped spinning, agitating, spinning, and draining properly, your video gave me the knowledge to replace the lid switch, coupler, clutch banding, and agitator dogs. Our washer now performs brand new. I’ll never get rid of this pair, as parts are super easy to find, the direct drive system is super robust, and the garbage they manufacture now has no chance of lasting as long as this stuff!
Thanks Bill, just brought home my wife and our firstborn child, a son. The first load of spitup covered ans soiled linens i tried to run, i came downstairs to a drum full of soaking wet clothes. Ran the timer back around to spin... Motor runs, drum tries to spin but doesnt get up to speed. Have to help it to get up to speed by hand. Lol i can see the headline now, "Man found wrapped around washing machine agitator, dead." Found your 11 year old video to confirm my suspicions of what is wrong with my 23 yr old washer. Also an informative tutorial! Thank you from the bottom of my family's collective heart!!!!
Bill, My husband and I can't thank you enough for your very thorough video. Our Kenmore 80 series is 13 years old and it stopped spinning the other day, but continued to run and make a weird noise, (much like the washer in another video that you did). We followed your video step by step. First, we checked the motor coupler and while it looked "just okay," we did what you said and really gave it a good look. We also checked the clutch and the dog agitators, just to be sure. We came to the conclusion that the motor coupler was just worn down so we switched it out and voila!! Now, our washer spins again! Thanks, Bill, for sharing your knowledge!!
I cannot thank you enough! In the process of checking the clutch I pull the pump off and lo and behold there was a sock hanging out of the pump! Jammed up the whole works! Pulled it out fired it up and running smoothly!!! Thanks Bill!!
Great tutorial! I took everything apart and it all looked fine, and when i reassembled it all it started spinning again, so I'm not sure what went wrong initially, but it's working now and it didn't cost a dime!
My very mechanical boyfriend said to buy a new washer and gave me the money. I'm a 52 yr. female and fixed it myself (yay should keep money). It was the coupler was rounded out. Put back together and agitator was frozen (crap must not have turn counter clockwise to release brake), took apart again because I thought it was suppose to turn one way but not the other (moved both ways when I started). Put back together, still frozen (suppose to be dah) turned on made noise but no agitating. Spin worked tho. Forgot to turn on water, who knew it wont agitate unless full of water. Works great! Thank you for saving me so much money for now and in the future.
Just wanted to say THANK YOU.... Found your video last weekend, turns out my clutch was bad which your video made it simple to diagnose. Got the new one in today & my washer is working fine now. Watched a couple other videos where they removed the cabinet unnecessarily. Your way saved a lot time & aggravation.
Thank you so much for the tutorial! It was very detailed and saved me money and now my machine is good as new. Much appreciated for taking your time to make the video.
Hi I have a Kenmore 800 series; I can’t not remove the transmisión out please if you can explain me how to removed I was following all your step in the video and nothing happen I just can’t not be able to removed Thanks
Hey Bill - Thanks for the videos! My wife said the washer won't spin and she noticed the agitator also wasn't working quite right. After watching your videos I found we had bad dogs on the agitator and a bad motor coupling. $22.00 and an hour of my time, I fixed both problems. I even watched your video on removing and re-installing the cabinet. You are a gem on youtube!! Thank you so much!
This is the second time you have helped me get my washing machine working again. Both times it was the clutch that slipped and was tilted. The first time I was back and forth to the computer making sure I was doing it right. This second time (this morning) I went over it again with your WONDERFUL videos and got it done with out all the stress and it it took me about a half hour. I will order a new clutch and I want you to know that each time I do laundry I will be thanking you that I saved money doing it myself. A thousand times... thank you.
Bill, thank you I diagnosed & repaired following your step by step instructions. Found motor coupler pieces on floor upon tilting machine ordered part on amazon fixed for $2.96 saved a ton of money thank you Bill. I did remove the cabinet as it was loose and wanted to secure it on properly when doing this there is a water tube in the back make sure that is secured on properly as mine came off accidentally and leaked (my fault). Machine is working like a charm now thank you again BIll
Great how to videos. My washer is about 7 years old. One of my 3 bolts underneath snapped (rusted?) in half and the other two worked themselves loose until they fell out during a wash cycle leaving the whole motor/transmission unit on the floor while running. Washer made a banging noise like an unbalanced load. Lifted the lid and realized the clothes bin was about 3 inches lower than it should be. Tried to drain water out of washer by switching control to Rinse mode but it made a terrible noise. Unplugged everything and moved washer to find two and a half bolts on the floor. Had to drill out the half that stayed in the shaft. This video helped me to take apart and put back together once I had new bolts. Thanks so much! Saved a lot of money and learned a lot in the process!
Bill Thanks for the video. Had to do a repair fast when the Sears technician failed to show up last Friday. Saved me a bunch and bought the parts off Amazon instead of the Sears site. I had to watch the video again when I struggled to re-install the shaft to bolt the motor back up. That little anti-clockwise push trick is quite important to get the motor in flush position for bolting. My wife thanks you.
Thanks for the detailed troubleshooting steps. Spent a lot of time watching repair videos that don’t fully help you diagnose your problem. I initially thought my whole transmission was bad since the clutch passes visual inspection, but the torque test is key. You save me a few hundred bucks and fixing the wrong issue.
Probably the clutch. He is being overly modest about his finger strength. Based on the video, my clutch seemed OK too. Noticed the brake release lever didn't seat properly - it was cracked. That part is only readily available in the clutch kit, so I ordered one. Gave the new clutch the same test for comparison - found it near impossible to move by hand. Replaced both parts - everything works.
I have exact washer. Followed your instructions step by step from my lap top in the utility room. The only difference was that the spline at the top of my transmission rod was rusted and pitted. I had to pound it out with a 2"x4" as not to damage the spline or threaded hole. Once out, I wire brushed the spline and everything went in smooth. You saved me at least $600 on a new washer. These older top load washer are pretty easy to work on. Not much electronical stuff to go wrong.
From a single parent father of 4 (with three in college), who is watching every penny, I thank you!! I changed the dogs out to get it to agitate and followed your instructions for the clutch repair! Its running like new now and spins soo fast it sounds like a freight train!
This and the part 1 companion video is bar none, the absolute best instructional I've ever seen on youtube. My motor coupler was broken in half. The damage couldn't be seen until the motor was off as you said. Your disassembly -reassembly procedure went perfectly. As you said, the job was much easier by removing the drive train and motor then repairing out of the machine. Thank you so much!!!
Thank you very much. Great instructions. As of right now, my clutch and coupler are both good. I had to take it a step further. When I spin the coupler on the gear housing, it feels like it skips teeth and it spins freely. I took the cover off and lo and behold, after wading through some oil, I did find the main gear missing 90% of it's teeth. Tomorrow I'll go buy me a new main gear. What kind of oil does his take and how much?
Bill, this video saved me at least $200. I had a bad motor coupling, and didn't have a clue on what part needed changing or how to do it. I'll be sure to look back at your other videos for future appliance issues. Thanks!
Huge THANK YOU, BILL! Just got done changing the coupler, and everything is working great. My wife is a little disappointed, she was counting on me messing it up and having to buy a new one. Instructions were great.
This saved me a bundle....simple...easy...makes me think about fixing more things around the house I thought were hard to do. Just remember the couplings are made with metal inserts now which supposedly may or may not start to round the edges of the shaft. Supposedly whirlpool fixed it. Thanks against..was ready to just buy a new one since it's 13+ years old! but if I can get a coupling and spend an hour fixing it I'm super happy
Excellent video! Bill does a great job showing how to check and replace a Whirlpool (Estate) clutch. I really enjoyed how he gave a lot of tips on how to do the procedure.
Bill, AWWSOME video. I folloewed your instructions and everything you described was spot on! My washer would not spin, agitator worked fine, but no spin cycle. I had to change my coupler a few years ago and had to remove the sheild on the washer. I really like your way of tilting the washer to get at the motor. My clutch was bad only problem I had was getting the retaining clip back on. I changed the coupler again since I already had everything open. Great Job!! Thanks
Thank you for the help. The clutch was the problem Did a temporary cleaning of the clutch and the pads with degreaser and some 600 grit emery paper. added a washer between the springs and the ring to tighten it up a bit more and reinstalled. It worked like a charm so far. I will use that until I get the new clutch assembly that I have ordered. Thanks for the excellent tutorial.
Thank you bill, I never picked up screw driver in my life but just because of your very informative video i was able to fix my washer. You made me technician today. Very very Happy. Keep posting. God bless you.
Wow Bill, You just made my day and helped to uphold my manhood. My Kenmore stopped spinning, bad coupler, bad timer, and agitator. So I had been using my girlfriends washer. We broke up. She thought she could rub it in by not letting me use her washer. I found your videos and am about to get parts to fix it. ... Thanks Brother! I also served, Vietnam , Medic, Air Force ! ...
Bill, I don't even want to speak to your editing, which is non-existent, but would rather just simply say you are an excellent teacher. I now understand what is in my Kenmore Series 80 and how to fix it, thanks to you. And I never have done this before. But I feel confident thanks to your great instruction. No but here, just saying, as a video professional, I could reduce your programs to a quarter or less with simple cuts. And closeups of bolts going in is good too. Think food TV.
This video and your instruction is great! Thanks! I have the whole motor & clutch assembly removed. The clutch is pretty tight though so I don't think it's bad. However, when you showed the brake assembly.... mine does have the one large "tab" sticking down, but it looks like there is a piece broken off the plastic in another spot. I'm not sure what the original brake looks like. It appears to be a c clamp holding it on. I haven't gotten it off yet.... Am I on the right track? Could it be a broken brake that causes a loud thumping and agitator/tub barely spinning on spin cycle?
I was about to scrap my washer. After watching your video i was able to find a problem you didn't mention. The tube brakes! Your tub turn counter-clock wise and mine didn't! Somehow the brakes was seized up. I took off the retaining c-clams and took out the brake mechanism. After reinstallment the tub could now turn just like yours did. Now my machine works as it should. No clutch replacement need. My machine wasn't spinning. Thanks a bunch!!!
I just want to thank you soo much last week my washer broke it wouldn't spin but would fill I was about to just buy a new one and watched your video. I took my washer apart and found it had a had a broken coupler. I purchased a new one on eBay for $4 and fixed it today. Thank you soo much 👍👍👍❤️😄
Mr. Newberry, thank you so much for taking the time and doing such a great job explaining the diagnosis and repair. I found it truly helpful and my wife now thinks that I'm a genius.
I wish I would have checked mine when it stopped turning almost 2 years ago. It ws 10 years old !! I had the 80 series (loaded) I have a newer one. The newer ones are made like crap!! I miss mine. This is something I can do!! I am a woman! I washed a lot of heavy items. now I know what happened and see how easy it is to repair!! THANK YOU!!
This is a very good lesson. A few thigs I want to ask? as a woman, what's the best way to tilt the machine back so I wont get injured and are all the parts standard to each washer? I have a Kenmore and where is the best place to purchase replacement parts? also how will I know which size part my machine will need? like I said are the parts just standard size?
I am a software engineer. I do not work with tools hardly at all. I was able to watch this video and pull the transmission/motor out and verify I have a bad clutch by moving it very easily with my fingers. In the video, you mentioned you would publish a link to the part number in the video's description, but I don't see one. I will try to search for it on my own, but I would love to get that information here. Thanks.
Thanks for the video. I checked my coupler and my clutch and they're both good, however my washer still isn't spinning. Are there any other issues that could possibly cause the problem?
probably the best part of the vidio was you just saying you had done this a thousand times and if was experience that made it look so easy for you and for a newbie is may be a little difficult unlike most people who would just say "all you have to do is this" thank you excellent video excellent teacher
hey Bill followed your instructions for replacing a bad clutch which was very informative. Mine was bad because i could spin it around pretty easily the couplings were good however once i put it back togother it still would not turn and continued to make a straining noise what should i check for now
Bill your video was bang on!!! The clutch was worn in my case. Also realized the value of watching the vid to the end. Couldn't push the transmission all the way. Thought there must be a trick, continued watching and there it was with the turn of the drum!! Well done and much appreciated. We were almost going to get a new washer as this is 13 years old. Now its good for another 13!! Thanks..
Great job on explaining things. I got a call from my daughter-in-law tonight telling me her clothes were soapy and still quite damp. I didn't hesitate to jump right in and start sourcing out the problem. I'm very fortunate that my skills as an HVAC technician provide me with trouble shooting skills. I did find and figure out that the motor coupling was broken and needs replacement. I just want to be sure that there's no issue with the transmission that caused the break other than age and fatigue. I'm going to replace the coupling and hope that it's problem solved.
Hi Bill- the clutch is fine, coupler is a little worn, one side has oblong holes as if motor was straining against something that wouldn't move... When I bought this house the washer didn't work the first time I ran it. Filled, motor hummed, but never agitated. Smelled hot, I unplugged it and watched your video. So my question- looking at the brake finger- it will spin, and move the wash tub, but only in 1 direction. The other way wont budge at all. but... Agitation goes in 2 directions.....
Hey Bill, Great Video, I will have to check to see if my washer has a bad clutch and coupler. My washer does click during the spin cycle and you feel like the motor is really laboring. Upon further inspection; the tub is spinning but not as freely. The clicking is causing the lights in rest of the house to dim. It agitates and drains water just fine and normally. Do you think its the clutch or I should check something else?
Just wanted to follow up. I replaced the clutch and seal. The washer is now working excellent. Again thank you for such a through explanation on the repair.
Hi Bill, great video thx, a friend of mine has an older whirlpool washer that occasionally won't spin. Current remedy is to just spin the timer dial back around to the spin cycle and restart the washer and then it spins. Also, the clothes after the spin cycle seem to be more damp than usual possibly indicating a less than maximum spin rate again possibly indicating the brake might not be fully disengaged. Does this sound right? Does your company sell brakes/clutches? Thanks again
Excellent videos! I just got back from repairing my mother-in-laws washer. Worked excellent. Only took me about 1/2 hour and I saved her $150 dollars (after part cost) that the repair man quoted her. Thank you!
Fantastic video, TY for posting! After inspection my clutch is bad and will be replacing it. Question. How do you remove motor coupling to determine if it is rounded inside? It turns the pump, but would like to make sure while I'm there.....
Great tutorial, my coupler is good when I checked it. So it has to be the clutch that's not spinning the basket when it has a full load, it smells like burnt rubber which made me think electrical wires were burning. Thanks to you I can replace the clutch. Easy peasy. While I'm in there I'll pull the agitator and basket to give it a good clean.
Wow! What a great tutorial!, You have cleared up so far what it could be wrong with my washer. It does not spin at the end of the rinsing cicle, however if I spin the tub by hand a few times counterclock wise and then a few times clockwise, after a few tries I can get it to work. So I can see it is probably not the coupler since it does go through all the washing except at the end. The clutch must be bad. I will post an update after I take a look at it. Thank you for being so patient and explaining it step by step and adding the whys and hows, it certainly helps to understand what you are doing in any repairs. Update! Thanks so much it was the clutch! The pad was so worn down it turn without much effort. So I contacted a seller near by and had it in a few days. Washer is back to normal now.😊👍
It escapes me how all these troubleshooting videos keep saying it might be the motor to transmission coupler. If the coupler was broken, NONE of the cycles would work since there would be no power the components.
THANKS Bill!!!! THIS IS THE BEST DESCRIPTION OF HOW TO REPAIR A KENMORE WASHER THAT WONT SPIN. I watched part 1 and part 2. TOTALLY TOOK THE MACHINE APART AS DESCRIBED. Voilà easy! Thank You. Bill Newberry
Excellent video and explanation. How would a bad transmission act? I'm trying to troubleshoot a Kenmore 600 that won't spin unless I counter clockwise spin the tub until it spins freely after the wash cycle.
Great video for the DIY folks out here. I replaced the clutch in no time and my wife is happy that our washer is fully functional again. Saved big bucks doing this myself rather than calling someone out to the house. Thanks for sharing!!
great video Bill. my kenmore HD80 series washer no longer agitates on the hi speed setting. does this indicate a bad motor or might this be clutch related? it agitates at low speed ok. also wasn't spinning fast enough and the spin/drain part of the cycle never fully completed, leaving soggy wet clothes at the bottom. does this indicate i also have a lid switch or timer problem?
great video. I think the transmission in my machine is bad. I have it all apart and the clutch and the white plastic pieces check out good, but when i hand turn the transmission it doesn't turn the clutch. Is it a good idea to change out the entire transmission assembly, or should I get a new machine?
Hi Bill, I have a 80 series Kenmore washer and I have replaced the coupler, the complete clutch assembly and the agitator cogs. My issue is that the drum won’t still spin at times. It does drain ok but wont spin unless I push the on / off button to off and then back on-then the machine will start to spin. The timer assembly is moving through its sequence so I believe my timer assembly is good. Any idea what will fix this issue? Thanks Noel
@Bill Newberry…so problem doesn’t spin on spin cycle, it’s does agitate….the couplet does appear fine….im not as far as removing agitator because I need to get the proper tool to remove agitator to assess the clutch. . MY QUESTION….i noticed a grease/oil substance by couplet and surrounding area…is there an additional concern? Not sure if this is problematic to do self repair or buy a new one
Your pretty knowledgeable and I'm mechanically inclined enough to now know I gotta replace the clutch in my washer. Light loads it spins up, normal loads and it will not. I end up removing half the laundry for spin cycle, otherwise it does nothing but sound like it is... all other cycles work just fine. Thank you for this informative video.
You are clean, cut, dry, and very thorough! I appreciate that so much. I think with your help, I will be able to tackle this job myself! Thanks again!!
That was brave of you to admit that for our benefit. I thank you, and I'll check.
I cannot thank you enough for posting this comment! Thank you so so much! I just put a new transmission in my washer and thought it was broken because it didn't spin up initially. I read your comment then watched my washing machine and realize nothing was wrong. Then I went and told my fiance and she told me she figured out a long time ago but didn't tell me because she didn't think I would believe her
Thank you. This makes a lot more sense. I thought for sure my timer was broken.
Your little tutorial is one of the best I've seen on any repair, not too much bull, and no bad music, all the little tips you need not to screw up, excellent job, Thanks
Thanks for an Exceptionally Excellent Tutorial..
Bill, you are patient and unimaginably comprehensive. Thanks so much for a high quality tutorial!

@@BillNewberry do you know the part number? Our clutch is bad and we need to replace.
Bill,
I have watched many appliance repair videos on many repairs.
Thank You
Tim Sharp
Just changed the clutch in a washer. Your instructions are far better than what comes with the new clutch. Thanks.
One of the best instructional videos I've ever seen.
Thanks!!
Cheers!
Where do you order parts for older whirlpool washer?
Such a helpful set of videos! After our 2006 Kenmore Elite washer stopped spinning, agitating, spinning, and draining properly, your video gave me the knowledge to replace the lid switch, coupler, clutch banding, and agitator dogs. Our washer now performs brand new. I’ll never get rid of this pair, as parts are super easy to find, the direct drive system is super robust, and the garbage they manufacture now has no chance of lasting as long as this stuff!
Great video Bill! Thank you for taking your time to help others & being so specific. It only took about a half hour to replace the clutch assembly.
Great info Bill, thanks for thinking of us guys who have good tools/mechanical skills but are low on dough!
***** Awesome! Great Job!
how Bill thanks for the great video! clutch is good and motor coupling is good but still does not spin any other thoughts?
Same problem here. Any solutions?
I too same situation.... what to do?
Bad motor
Thanks Man, we had a bad motor coupler.Fixed for $25.00 bucks including shipping. Great Video, super helpful.
+Peter Lynn Awesome Job on your Repair!
Hi I have a Kenmore 800 series; I can’t not remove the transmisión out please if you can explain me how to removed I was following all your step in the video and nothing happen I just can’t not be able to removed
Thanks
Hey Bill - Thanks for the videos! My wife said the washer won't spin and she noticed the agitator also wasn't working quite right. After watching your videos I found we had bad dogs on the agitator and a bad motor coupling. $22.00 and an hour of my time, I fixed both problems. I even watched your video on removing and re-installing the cabinet. You are a gem on youtube!! Thank you so much!
Just wanted to let you know i gave ya a thumbs up! Thanks for helping me diag/repair my washer... happy wife happy life...
+wht02cv Nice!
ok
Thank you
This is the second time you have helped me get my washing machine working again. A thousand times... thank you.
You're the man! Just saved me from buying a new washer. Thanks for taking the time to post this video. Keep up the great work!
Machine is working like a charm now thank you again BIll
you should have a t.v. show. you are the best person on TH-cam! No lie 😀
This was awesome. Thanks for taking the time Bill.
My wife thanks you.
bill ur awesome, appreciate your very clear and detailed help... god bless you....
What if it seems to be neither and both parts seem ok
Same happened to me. Any solutions?
Great Job!! Thanks
This is a top notch video. An expert giving very clear instructions!! People should use this as a guide to make how to videos!!
NO WAY I can do this..BUT your effort and expertise was worth watching. Thank you for spending the time for us!
BEST How To Videos on the Internet!!!!!! Thank You Bill!!!!! You explain EVERYTHING IN DETAIL in such a way it is very easy to understand.
These videos on how to check and perform the repair on a clutch is the best I’ve ever seen. Very informative and great tips . Thank you so much .
I found it truly helpful and my wife now thinks that I'm a genius.
great explanation. This will be the third repair I've made to my 16-year old Kenmore and yours is the best video I've come across. Thank you so much!
Thank you for the two videos. Just saved me thousands of dollars on replacements and brought my 17 yes old washer back to life.
Are there any other issues that could possibly cause the problem?
probably the best part of the vidio was you just saying you had done this a thousand times and if was experience that made it look so easy for you and for a newbie is may be a little difficult unlike most people who would just say "all you have to do is this"
thank you
excellent video
excellent teacher
hey Bill followed your instructions for replacing a bad clutch which was very informative. Mine was bad because i could spin it around pretty easily the couplings were good however once i put it back togother it still would not turn and continued to make a straining noise what should i check for now
Thanks for video where do i buy parts and is this the same procedure for a washer with no agitator ???
Bill you have saved me $1,000’s of dollars over the last 10years. Thank you for teaching us how to fix things.
I don't think I would be doing this but I just needed to say, WOW what a great teacher you are!!
She sits on it while it shakes an unbalanced load during the spin cycle. Expect lots of galled clutches.
Bill, thanks for the simple Steps and instructions. You made it look so easy. I love your logical approach to arrive at solution.
great video Bill. my kenmore HD80 series washer no longer agitates on the hi speed setting. does this indicate a bad motor or might this be clutch related? it agitates at low speed ok. also wasn't spinning fast enough and the spin/drain part of the cycle never fully completed, leaving soggy wet clothes at the bottom. does this indicate i also have a lid switch or timer problem?
great video.
Great video!!! please let me know when we are talking about spinning, does that mean agitating? Or it is different than agitating?
Thanks for showing the different models and how the agitator comes off. It was a great help!
Great videos! I checked both things but My washer didn't have a bad clutch or coupler so what should i try next?
You are clean, cut, dry, and very thorough! I appreciate that so much. I think with your help, I will be able to tackle this job myself! Thanks again!!
