I’m soooo glad I found your video. I used it to diagnose the problem, purchase the required part, and install it. After recalibration, I feel like I have a new washer. Thanks so much for this!
This video was extremely helpful. I had the same E1 F7 codes, and after looking at several other posts decided to replace the Shift Actuator on the machine. The part cost $60 and took about 15 minutes to replace (not counting the one-hour round trip drive to the parts counter!), and now we're cranking through the laundry again.
Thanks so much for taking the time to share your insight and experience. You saved me at least $100 for a service call, and probably an additional mark-up a repair guy would have charged on the part.
The nice thing about this washer is that you don't really need to guess at all. Put the unit into diagnostic mode and get the error codes. This unit practically troubleshoots itself.
super helpful. thank you
Great job!!
Many thanks
The diagnostic/tech sheet is essential to to troubleshoot this washer. It is located behind the front panel. You need to raise the top lid to do that. I have another video here at my channel that explains how to do that. I'll post the link to it in the About section for this video.
it was really great tip i am wonder if can i used the same technic on a wtw495xw2 washer can you help me thanks
Do you have a video on how to replace the control board on this exact same model? I have this model and would like to attempt this myself. Thanks!
How do I find part 2..I need to finish this testing
Hello, how do I get to part 2 of this video? I can’t seem to find it
Hello Scott, I've checked some of your videos on the Whirlpool Cabrio but I didn't see my washers problem. It seems to spin but not fast enough. I'm having to run the rinse and spin cycle once and sometimes twice after washing a load. No codes are coming up during normal operations. Any tips on what to check or as to what is going on. Thanks, Mike
Mines full.up a Lil bit of water n try to wash n.stop before even fulling d right amount.. could it be my lid.n lock switch damage?
Thanks! My problem was the (Basket speed sensor/ Actuator) easy fix. My error code was E5-F1 & E1 F7
What happened too part 2?
Hi i dont have the guide for the error code , my sensing ,rinse and done lights blink as error code can you help?
Had this same problem, the belt fell off of the motor pulley. Pretty simple fix. Flip on its back, remove sound dapmener, 2 screw for the belt cover, 2 bolts for the motor. It's a tight belt might take two people to get it back on, or a pry bar like I did. Will be ordering a new belt for when it happens again.
F8 E1 is a long fill/no fill condition. Could be a clogged cold water valve (most common case). Could be as easy as replacing the water inlet valve. Go to the Appliantology Academy and enter your model number in the parts search box at the top of the page to find the valve.

Rinse and done light blink in test mode, what does that mean? I don't have the LED screen display.
Have a Whirlpool 9 settings washer, knob was broken by door and careless operations.

What's E0 F0 mean ??
So im just digging into this and part 2 is private....
Thats nice 😅
It had some copy right background music that TH-cam dinged us for.
My maytag bravos HE would fill and drain but not agitate or spin. Turned out to be a bad lower wiring harness. It's the 3rd time I've had a problem with the wiring harness. First time it was a break in the red coil wire, 6months later it was a break in the green ground wire just before it connects to the motor plug. This time there was no obvious break, but no continuity between motor plug red and J16 plug red. There is a little connector under the washer that joins 3 red wires from motor, capacitor, and j16. It has a plastic sleeve around it. When I cut out the motor wires and joined them together, I got continuity, so I cut the other red wires from the wire connector and rejoined them with a wire nut and tape. Now I'm back in business. Who would think they would make a wiring harness so fragile?
What are the possible problems if the washer will not spin but it will agitate? the washer has been in storage for a year
where's prt 2
Hello, by any chance do you have a link in which I can check the tech sheet?
Need to see the F5 E1 error
we have a cabrio washer and dryer set ....the washer will not spin and keeps re-starting the wash cycle over and over again
Holy shit, Pocket Calculator from Kraftwerk!
the tech sheet?
It's the craziest thing. Our washer stopped the agitation motion during a washing cycle. I went thru the steps to get to the diagnostic mode and came up with E0 and F0 codes. Puzzling. So I next thought I should examine underneath. To make sure it was empty, I put it in the spin and drain mode expecting it to NOT spin and only drain. WALAH! It did spin. So I decided to try a small load in a wash cycle and it worked. I am not sure what happened, but going thru the diagnostics seemed to have cleared a fault. Working for now
Still working?
What he said. Still working?
what if the green board light is blinking
What if the drive pulley doesn’t turn
trying to watch these videos to figure out what is wrong with our washer. From watching the other video looks like I have F5 E1 based on the light. I'm not very mechanical...would appreciate any advice.

None of my status lights turn on when there suppose to, I have checked my notes three times.
When mine did this I unplugged the washer for 1 minute plugged it back in and I was back in business, in case no one found part 2, I ended up googling the code and that was what I found
Where is part 2
F7 E7 then F7 E1 are the codes I'm getting. any suggestions?
You fix it ?
Help mine is not filling water Although it makes sounds
how do i get this diagnostic sheet? but anyways Nice video! i got a E6 F7 error code. Can you tell me what that means?
I have the same code did you find out what it is help please
what is the music playing throughout this video?
"Pocket Calculator" from "kraftwerk"
Where is part 2 to this video?
My Lid Light flashes once I try to start my first load, after I unplug it for 10-12 seconds, plug it back in and start it again, it will work for 2 or 3 more loads. So now I wonder how long is this going to work before I have to have it repaired. I have not checked for the diagnositic code yet, just holding my breath as it works through the cycles. Ideas?
kguyh55 You have to get into diagnostic mode on these computerized appliances to see what error codes are stored there. This points you in the direction of the problem.
where did you get the reference for the codes? the text?
What if you don't gave a display how do you get the code
There is a book on the inside on your washing machine, it's under the top inside left side corner, I could reach in through the middle and get to it. There is a diagnostic way of clicking the knob to show the blinking lights to indicate the code.
I have the same code. How do I fix it?
Replace the shift actuator: bit.ly/1hBXICJ
Mine has a fault code F0E5, what does that mean?
I have the sesame problem
I follow your turning of the nob to get it to diagnostic mode and mine does not then flash all the lights to show me that's where I'm at. It's as if it thinks it's ready to wash whites. I know I'm not turning it incorrectly as I've got the computer sitting right here, doing it as you are. What else can I do?
When you turn the knob, make sure you feel each of the indents, rather than skipping over them. That will approximate the correct timing. Timing is critical for diagnostic entry on these controls. It's about 1/2 second per turn.
HA, just fixed mine, my pully was lose and not spinning the washer, pffft, got lucky this time (knock on wood)
Hi Hellp me.please I have the same washer and the problem is that it wont fill up if water I just put a little amount of clothe and it just wont fill up the clothe are dried
Yahaira Soria Check to see if the water inlet valves are getting voltage during fill. If not, then the control is bad. If they are, then you have a water supply problem.
i have a carbi without a display it had it in diagnostic mode but couldnt tell the code the rince and spin would notlight up when the led was flashing the only the done light would be lit
Hi, problems, problems. Pls help me. So, i have this model and is showing error code F7-E5, What should I do.
+rafaelrgl did you ever get a reply because i have the same code & don't know what to do
Motor fault error
I have the same problem and same code. I've already replaced the shift actuator and still won't spin or even wash. I noticed that the pulley connecting the motor and transmission doesn't spin freely like in the video. In fact it doesn't spin at all when I try to move it. Is that normal? Any help from anyone is appreciated.
not normal duh
BROKEN CYCLE KNOB HOW TO FIX
I got an F7 E5, what do I do?
Same here. I believe this is also a shift actuator related code. This is a great video--thanks!
Got same code... did you get it fix? What's the problem? Thank you
Forgot lol. I moved away years ago.
Kinda sounds like Tony stark lol
I have a F7 and E5 what do i do to fix it
Rosalie Margelos thats the exact code i have! Did you ever figure it out by any chance?
Shifter issue !!!!!!!!
Rico , suave thanks haha these new washers are a pain 😡
F7 e5 shift accuator speed sensor is built in to it. Let me guess it will wash but dont spin out or might get stuck in the rinse cycle mother board can't tell what the basket is doing. If it wont agitate or spin them motor start capacitor and or connections to broad or either of these components
Also code f7 e1 same possibility
hi whats up i have a washer that wont spin its a top-load kenmore i took it down i was thinking it was the capasstor because there was nothing in the pump and it spins free by hand changed it and still did the same when it humms if you spin it it will start up i am lost what wrong do i need a bigger one change it with a 165-240 mf
just trying to grow some food its a weak motor. Replace it and youre golden
I've had an abundance of these machines come in lately that will not go into spin. All tests in manual test mode function correctly up until LOW SPIN, HIGH SPIN, GENTLE AGITATION and HEAVY AGITATION. On these last four I will get the beep and all status lights will flash.
My question is:
Is it normal for the manual test to not spin on the last four, even after the actuator has been replaced? I will even calibrate the unit, but will get the same result in manual test. I found this unusual because unit will eventually follow through normal cycles and spin as intended. Is this the control board still stuck in error?
Just curious. I have to say though... Best thing about this video is Kraftwerk's "Pocket Calculator" Great Choice! I bought that album (Computer World) when I was 8 years old the year it came out. That was quite an experience for 1981. LOL
+Jason Scott Please let me know if you solve this. I think I am having the same problem!
you need to move the camera very still learn it first
Worst washer ever
complicated should not need to do this...
Have a Whirlpool 9 settings washer, knob was broken by door and careless operations.
