    you mention WRX and STI and even show a VB WRX, but to start they are VERY different and not just a little HP and big wing. The VB WRX uses front open diff and rear open diff with brakepad torque vectoring from the Forester SUV. The STI has a whole different AWD drivetrain using front LSD, center DCCD diff, and rear LSD just like the EVO, GTR, GR Corolla.

    • @mariagus805
      @mariagus805 หลายเดือนก่อน

      you'll be surprised how many VB owners think it's just HP and wing, and not realize they're running the drivetrain straight from Forester and Ascent of Subaru Global Platform, that's why you see VB owners put a wing and talk about FA engine and how much HP they can make for going fast in straight line drag race.

      you can always do a sti trans swap.

    • @mariagus805
      @mariagus805 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@brian6speed ugh yeah, reason i bought new vb wrx was because it was a good deal at $29k, not spending another $5-10k to swap STI trans, axles, driveshaft, center DCCD controller, and rear diff, would have bought a MUCH better GR Corolla or Civic Type R that would drive infinitely better and hold it's value better than VB.

    I have a COBB stage 1 tune on my VB and I plan to do a cat back when I can afford it.
    That's all I need, and it's a great fun daily. Maybe later on I'll add more, but for now it's perfect.

    The biggest mistake is swapping the perfectly good nice looking OEM Subaru badge for a cheapo garbage quality one just to get a color match

    Loving my 2015 STI. Volk ce28 wheels, Cobb 20g turbo, ets top mount, all Cusco under braces, Koyo radiator, killer b equal headers, fortune auto coils, Recaro sr7 seats. Never let me down since I had it in 2017. Proper oil, ensure properly fuel, don’t lug the car, heat management, don’t get cheap parts and pro tune. Basic research and common sense.

    Love your videos, I keep watching them to do my research before getting my VB soon. I may know the answers to my questions but just incase I will ask...
    1.) I want to put a BPV on mine. I plan on keeping the engine stock overall but want that sound. Will I need a tune for that? I hear mixed answers to that.
    2.) I plan on installing an axleback exhaust (BOSO), will I need to do a tune for that?
    That's it! Please and thank you

    • @AutoEnthusiast

      Don't put a BPV on it, just run a perrin intake with a sleeve. Both will make a dealer think before doing work anyway, intake is safer. Tune it down the line. Axleback does not require a tune.

    What would say the responsible limit for hp on the cvt is?
    Pro tuner is talking with said he has taken a few (VB not VA) CVT’s to 350 for 2years+ with build and tune no issues.
    Guy has done hundreds of wrx’s and is gold certified with Cobb

    • @AutoEnthusiast
      @AutoEnthusiast  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      certification means nothing, I would honestly say that seems extremely aggressive for the average person. People were doing that on VAs and selling their rides after 1-2 years to escape the long term issues. But also plenty of people lost them. Having owned one and been so close to a lot of failure cases, I just wouldn't tune one. I know that is a tough statement, but unless you can replace a trans and not be too bummed about it, id be cautious. But i say that as someone tuning my ride and still worried about my manual trans.

    Re. Carbon cleaning in the upper engine? Use a bottle or 2 of SA718 in your tank every few thousand kms & use high octane premium fuel always. Here in Australia Subaru uses it every service as well as an upper engine clean.

    Now you have me second guessing where I buy 93 octane fuel. I buy at a high volume place, but I don't know who makes the fuel. You mentioned Shell, so any recommendations on other branded fuels that you'd trust? (2024 WRX manual with 500 miles on it)

      @mr.velocitystack4133 I really don't no about subaru oil but I highly doubt it's considered really good alot of guys run motul in there wrx I use amsoil ss but it cost alot more than most are willing to spend but if it's stock an you get it changed early all the time should be fine changing it before it starts breaking down I believe is what matters most other oils just have more addictive for protection

    What do you think a safe hp and torque limit would be for the vb’s engine and trans?

    • @AutoEnthusiast
      @AutoEnthusiast  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Trans is the bottle neck, I still don't think we know. 350/340 on the trans seems to be living for a lot of the tuned folks. Is it safe? No tuning is. It's all about your risk tolerance.

      So there is a lot to be said here, but you won't lose any sediment filtration with higher flow filters, typically they just remove structural layers and wear layers. They will last a shorter period and clog easier, but the filtration diameter remains the same, it just isn't progressively filtered, so you get a higher material build up at layers.
