New WRX owner here. I need all the help and tips I can get. Thanks for the helpful information. A much longer and detailed version of this would be nice lol.
100% agree with the point on the Subaru Community. I bought a 2018 WRX 2 years ago and joined a local Subaru Facebook group. As a result of joining that group and getting friendly with some of it's members, a few of us just went to volunteer as Spectator marshals in Bancroft at the 2024 Rally of the Tall Pines. It was an incredible weekend, so many Subaru people and I had an unbelieveable time. Doint it again next year!
Purchased my first 2013 WRX off of a sketchy used car lot, a lot of people have told me how its a really bad idea but im keeping positive even through the worst first 3 weeks of owning it 😂 i didnt make it home from the dealer, radiator inlet pipe cracked, replaced with Mishimoto radiator then turbo coolant line blew two days later, (dealer paid for parts thankfully) from then cars ran great i daily it 45 miles one way to work and back to the point i really appreciate your videos on proper care and just giving light to these cars, i have a friend that owns my same WRX and hes been a great help on my future plans when money comes and i look forward to seeing more content. Ill be sure to update you on how it goes, thank you again Smeedia !
Have had a 2014 Wrx hatch in world rally blue. It has aem intake, Perrin turbo inlet, and Mishimoto throttle body hose. Running 5w40 rotella and oem rx8 oil filter. Car has been super reliable. Most reliable car I have ever owned. However. I take really really good care of it. Oil every 3k. It is pro tuned. Made 255whp and 290lb of torque. It never knocks. I fill up at the same gas station every time. Shell nitro from a gas station that moved a ton of gas. So it’s always fresh. I trust this car more than Iv trusted any of my Honda’s, Toyota’s or anything I have had. This car has been bullet proof. Just know what you are getting into. This is not a car you can do nothing to and be able to beat in it forever with no issues. You have to put in, to get something out of a wrx. No it isn’t expensive, no it isn’t cheap. You get the most amount of car in the price range. It’s good at everything, master of nothing. But you have to pay much more money to get a master of anything. So... if you have 25k to get a car. And you love having fun and tinkering with cars. Subaru wrx is you man. Buy one. Take care of it. You won’t regret it.
Dude u just bought my first Subaru its a 2019 WRX STI I absolutely love it the Subaru community is truly amazing I’ve had tons of people reach out and give me suggestions, ideas, help etc im so incredibly thankful to have got myself into this sweet slick daily driver! ❤
I can’t express how much this information has helped me. Just got myself a 2020 WRX that I have fallen in love with as a salvage/rebuild title and I plan to do some basic upgrades with the car. Finding solid, straight to the point information has been interesting to say the least. You got yourself a new follow and subscription. Thank you for your expertise man!
Great video. Learned a lot and didn’t take 30 minutes to explain, perfect. Also insurance depending on where u are, like he said, will vary. I live in Ontario and have a perfect driving record and I’m 20, I got quoted for a 2024 golf gti ($386/month), 2018 focus rs ($324/month), and a 2019 wrx Raiu edition, which I now own, and it’s $287/month. I was shocked at the gti insurance and that’s what steered me away from the car. The wrx is a perfect car. Has enough power stock for me to have some fun. Can fit my kayak and fishing gear. And it has endless possibilities. Pick urself up one if u have the means.
Just fyi... WRX does stand for World Rally eXperimental as it was the result of a collaboration between subaru and prodrive to create a car for use in the world rally championship.

Always going to keep posting the videos! Some dont do as well as others statistically speaking but I enjoy making them, love helping out the community. Hope you are able to snag that STI! Well worth it and very fun no matter what year it is! Thank you for the support!
H4 engines with their low center of gravity rule, it is just physics. Think of Subarus as the poor mans Porsche. More than equal the fun at significantly less $$$. It does cost $$$ to play the modifications game and you need a goal. Modifications are indeed addictive but dam fun! And last but not least getting whatever your power level you have to the ground can give you a great ride with decent fuel economy, reliability even from a stock block.
After all these insurance comments I gotta start shopping around 🤭 26/yo male with good record and I pay $230/mo in CA! Great vid as always man, since i don’t have any subi friends you’re my go-to source of info 🙏🏻
Smeedia haha the editing quality and content makes up for me not having a Subaru of my own! All of my best friends ride around in wrx’s so I’m the outcast here! Lol
If God permits and things come out as planned, im gifting myself a subaru wrx sti for Christmas. Any tips on what year to get? This will be my 1st subaru🙏🏽
People boost an already boosted stock engine to 400 HP, blow it up, and put Subaru on blast on every forum they can find. Meanwhile I keep a bugeye stock and put 200k miles on it, and sell it with completely rusted out quarters for 3 grand in two days. Original head gaskets, trans, clutch, bearings and everything else people think blows on these cars. And that's not to say you can't put your favorite intake and exhaust on it and still have good reliability. As long as, like you said, get a damn tune!
my 2019 wrx is fully insured with 500 dollar deductible and i pay 102 a month, if people are paying on average what you said i feel super lucky about my insurance rates

If you're military or mom and dad are, get USAA for insurance. I pay what he said for insurance for full coverage for a 2018 WRX, with 2 other cars included but those are liability since they're 12 and 15 years old
I love your channel for your in depth knowledge and content variety. As much as I want to stroll over to NASIOC, I know my wallet is going to be very mad if I start frequenting forums again.
I love going back and watching some older videos to refresh my knowledge every now and then. Quick question: I want to run 2 dedicated gauges on my EJ255 and was wondering what you might recommend. I for sure want an oil pressure gauge but cannot think of another gauge to run. The car is stage 2 with an EWG and is my daily driver. Thanks!
Great video bro ......my first wrx ....and man do I need your help after 4 days the engine light popped on with the air bag light, traction control light, abs light, and the vehicle going up the hill light...but the car still drives great I'm lost...
I'm looking to get A Premium WRX... is the maintenance cost really as crazy as I've been seeing? (Example, someone had to pay $2,300 for brakes and rotors to be replaced on the '22 WRX)
Currently paying off a 2013 BRZ. Keeping it N/A to have the reliability. One day I'd like to have a WRX as a winter beater. Currently running Valveoline oil in my car, but I do want to switch to AMS Oil. Also upgrade my tires. Being a boxer fan I am also a fan of rotary engines. This video really does nail being a Subie fan.

Almost have watched all your videos, would love to see more videos of your add ons and everything you do to your cars. Now I know exactly what to do and buy for my subi right when I get it!!
Thank you!!!!
Just got my first STI. 2018, I love it. Looking for recommendations on tires.
Summers, winters or all seasons? 🔥
Winter
Blizaks have alqays been my go to🔥
Just my my first WRX over the weekend! Never been this excited for a car!
Congrats on the car 🙌🔥😁
Loving the amount of content your pushing man!
Gotta keep it coming for everyone 🔥🔥🔥
1850 per 6 months? That's so much! I live in Dubai, I am a 25 year old single male and my yearly premium on a 2015 STI is 205 USD for full coverage
Shits wild out here, that qas national average at the time of recording
Here to say that my 2004 Subaru outback has 210k miles on it and still kicking
I wouldn’t need a tune for a axle back right?
No tune needed 🙏
@@Smeedia do you think I would need a aos if I’m keeping the engine stock
It would definitely help but not 100% needed
I’m looking for the fuel shut down switch where it should be located in a 2015 Subaru wrx STI limited
Pull the fuel pump fuse. It's a 15 Amp in the fuse box in the engine bay
Smeedia dropping straight knowledge for the subie community... much appreciation. Thanks for the hard work you putting in. Keep it going 👍🏼👍🏼💯💯
Appreciate the support! Just trying to help out where I can 😁
After all these insurance comments I gotta start shopping around 🤭 26/yo male with good record and I pay $230/mo in CA! Great vid as always man, since i don’t have any subi friends you’re my go-to source of info 🙏🏻
Good to see that everyone's insurance quotes are lower that the average 🙌 I will provide you will all the info 😁
I don’t even own a Subaru but for some reason I click on every video you make. Great video man!
Appreciate the support teguardless! I try to incorporate in some spicey B roll when I can and make the videos entertaining 😁
Smeedia haha the editing quality and content makes up for me not having a Subaru of my own! All of my best friends ride around in wrx’s so I’m the outcast here! Lol
@@mr3xklusiv nothing wrong with that, glad you enjoy the editing though 😁😁😁😁
I have a 2017 wrx it has a cold air intake and a blow off valve Is and it's straight piped with the cat i think. Do i need a tune?
I would advise a tune
@@Smeedia Thank you!!!!!!!!. Would you also advise that I get rid of the blow off valve or get like a 50/50
I'd suggest snagging an full recirc 🙏
If God permits and things come out as planned, im gifting myself a subaru wrx sti for Christmas. Any tips on what year to get? This will be my 1st subaru🙏🏽
Im 18 and just bought a 2017 sti on my own yeah i got a payment but its all mine. First stick car but hey ill learn
Gotta learn somehow 🔥
People boost an already boosted stock engine to 400 HP, blow it up, and put Subaru on blast on every forum they can find.
Meanwhile I keep a bugeye stock and put 200k miles on it, and sell it with completely rusted out quarters for 3 grand in two days. Original head gaskets, trans, clutch, bearings and everything else people think blows on these cars.
And that's not to say you can't put your favorite intake and exhaust on it and still have good reliability. As long as, like you said, get a damn tune!
Exactly! I've seen a plethora of STIs and WRXs make it past 300K on the OE engine, gaskets etc.
my 2019 wrx is fully insured with 500 dollar deductible and i pay 102 a month, if people are paying on average what you said i feel super lucky about my insurance rates
That's just the national average for the car. Sounds like you've got a solid insurance company!
Same I pay like $103 with full coverage those much be people that have speeding tickets like crazy then.
@@Smeedia yes they have been really good. I've just recently found your channel and I'm definitely liking it, its helping me to get a solid plan setup for my subie when I start modding and tuning. Thanks for all the good info :)
@@XxTommyboy890Xx that's probably true since I've heard wrx has one of the highest speeding ticket rates lol, luckily I haven't got one yet. (Knock on wood.....)
@@codybourn2082 when I first got mine, my insurance was awful 🤣 I was 19 and had no idea about what it costs. Luckily it's only about $120 a month now 🙌 glad that the content and videos are helping out 😁
If you're military or mom and dad are, get USAA for insurance. I pay what he said for insurance for full coverage for a 2018 WRX, with 2 other cars included but those are liability since they're 12 and 15 years old
USAA is who I've got 🙌 best insurance company around.
I love your channel for your in depth knowledge and content variety. As much as I want to stroll over to NASIOC, I know my wallet is going to be very mad if I start frequenting forums again.
Lol well I'll do what I can to keep the content coming then so you can avoid some of the fourms 😅
Thanks!
Oil pressure and AFR would be my picks. 🔥
For your point on not being rally ready off the lot anymore watch Launch Control Episode 3.14.
So far, What's the best engine oil for the BRZ?
Yo I just got an sti and I NEED to know everything
Ive got videos covering SO much! But feel free to ask anything ya like 🙏
My full coverage insurance on my 21 sti is 880 every 6 months. I think you meant 1800 anually.
I did not lol at the time of doing this video that was the national average 😳
@@Smeedia dang I'll consider myself lucky!
My ($55/mo full coverage) insurance on my STi is so happy I am home owning married man over 25 and my wife is the "primary driver" (she can't drive stick >.>)
Deals on insurance 😅
quoted a 2005 sti for 150$ per month through state farm
@@vaerxxx3231 The Home, 3 cars, and 3 life's are a lot more than the $55 for the STi . Bundles save.
Sounds like insurance fraud to me. See what happens when you have an accident in it and file a claim.
@@bigtank1982 It is through State Farm. There are benefits on being older, married, with a clean driving record (I ain't been caught hooning)
Great video as I’m prepping for my sti this summer 👀
Exciting! 🙌😁 when are you shooting to get it?

Thank you! Means a lot! Just trying to get the information out there for everyone to use 🙌
Jake is hunting down those hondas with his scoobydo STI
Bro would you recommend “royal purple” 5w30 on my 19 sti ?
Are these easy to learn manual on? Specifically the 2019+ or should I just get a WRX?
They're not bad to learn on, the clutch is pretty forgiving
@@Smeedia thanks my buddy said I can try his bagged 16 sti before he turbos it so I'll see how it is
Have a 2011 sti with hydrolucked engine..Goin for swapping it..what years work with no extra work..can I put 2018 sti motor on 2011 bolt on and no tune up?
Yes you can 🙏
Love the color Subaru 😍😍😍
Thank you 😁
Thank you so much for explaining everything, i was so worry about -1.40 knock because i get it almost every time i drive , now i know better
Nothing to worry about when it comes to minimal knock. Appreciate the support 😁
What wheels are those?
Work emotion D9R 🙏
Still looking for a 4th gen legacy gt 😭
We have one here with no motor 😅
When you mentioned being a unique enthusiast. That makes so much sense on why I wanted to get a wrx. I've owned an 87 rx7 since 2012.
You low key are going to be my mentor when building/maintaining my new wrx which is why I'll be changing my other YT channel name to "MC_WRX7" to share the journey. 🤘 Keep up the good work because this is high quality content 🔥🔥
Appreciate the support and reach out whenever! I've always wanted a rotary but they scare me 🤣
I wanna get a subaru in two years but i know absolutely nothing about cars going into this. Are there any videos or websites i can go to for learning what half of this alien sounding technology is please?
I have a ton of thr info on my channel 🙏🙏🙏
@@Smeedia ill check it out thank you. It's just i get really confused when people start talking about the technical terms and names for parts that ive never heard of. Im sure ill be able to pick it up soon enough 😊
What u need to know. It’s awesome friggin car. The end
Is it okay if my feed back knock hits around -3.00 through -5.00 after the first shift of start, after that it never hits over the -1.41
I wouldent stress it too much 🙏
@@Smeedia thank you
What If I don’t want to Modify the WRX, is the STI the better daily driver? I prefer the low profile wing, and port injection. I’m not a fan of DI turbo engines.
However, daily driving is my ultimate goal.
Honestly I would give it to the WRX for a better daily driver, better fuel economy, better low end power and cheaper. But I daily my sti and it's just fine to do 😅
Smeedia ...Thanks for the reply, you and Mr. Subaru are the best guys out there with regards to Subaru’s. I had a 2008 Legacy 5 speed manual that was a pleasure to own. Sold it for an SUV..(family) but I would like to get back behind the wheel of a Subaru.
Nice work Subie brother , Infinity , Seven sister's ...... that's all I need to know , Subies are just cool period !
🙌🙌🙌😁 there is still no clear repression as to the acronym I looked more into it today and it's a hot mess but either or I'm down with 😅
Hey there do you have a video on how you install your cobb accessport into your wrx sti please

I run royal purple 5/30 in my wrx runs great in it
Haven't watched the vid yet but parking in that garage must take some effort, let alone backing in.

Very helpful! Thank u. Btw, since I’m new in this, I own a 2015 WRX STI and I would like to know how to recognize what’s going on when my car is making some weird noises, so do you have a video about it?
What type of weird noises? And congrats on the car!
@@Smeedia thank you! Well, I’ve been listening a weird noise coming from the air compressor or next to it, power steering fluid, coolant, brake and clutch fluids are ok, I change the oil 3 months ago now, but I have no idea what that noise could be.
This is going to sound odd but can you describe the noise 😅🙏
Sound like you are from where I live ( NJ ) - everyone speaks fast. What 3 things you say for longevity??? Air/ Oil Separator, Cylinder 4 Cooling Mod, Killer B Oil Pickup?
Exactly those, if I stick with 3 mods for reliability 100% what you listed 🔥
@@Smeedia I need to get your info man. Lots of questions ! Lol. Just did the 60k service at the shop (which I know is ripoff) but have extended warranty so thought it might not continue if I went somewhere else) btw. Price to change spark plugs ? ! Blew. My. Fcking. Mind. !! Lol

Quick question. I have a 2018 wrx sit and it keeps overheating. I bought it used, to my knowledge it has a down pipe and new fuel injectors as well as a Cobb intake, what do you think i should do to help resolve this issue?
STI*
2020 STI stock for the most part, I was told that you can Max out ur motor, or close or it ... or not a good idea money is not a problem, Does it void your warranty if you did something like that?
How much power are you wanting to make?
I have never used the forum for our car. Time to get started. So of you don't use the OEM oil you will void the warranty?
That is going to depend on the dealer, but if you want to maintain the warranty Youll have to have the dealer change the oil or a certified shop
@@Smeedia got a feeling I've voided my warranty...
Man my legacy gt is giving me a headache so, I fixed one problem and two more appear and turbo just went bad
This seems like a good chance to go to a larger turbo 👀
