This project took us 2 YEARS to finish. After our custom modifications of the case, we received it in 2021 -- but it had that water damage. When we finished repairing it, we realized we needed custom PCIe risers. Then we needed to order other custom-fabricated parts. At the end of 2022, we delivered the system -- but it took us until now to get this video edited because we had years of footage to parse through. It's so crazy to see this make the journey starting in our old office and ending in the new one. Trivium also moved in that time into their awesome hangar you see in this video. I wouldn't have guessed GN and you would synergize quite this well, but holy old fuck does that build just *scream* Trivium, somehow. They've out-GN'd themselves, here, methinks.
That's the complications of doing highly customized one-off builds. And that's without the mess of busy schedules, covaids, and your case being tested as a submarine. Kinda explains _why_ Linus has invested in so many machining tools, 3d printers, etc. It doesn't matter how big in influencer you are, companies don't drop everything to do you a favor to custom design/build something from scratch that will never be a marketable product. That kind of stuff is always on a "when I get to it" schedule. If you've ever been part of highly custom work it _never_ goes quickly and it's always the first thing set aside when the money making production work needs to be done. Not to mention Steve and Jay don't have small armies to throw at problems like Linus does.
From a fellow metalhead, this collab is great! I'm sure the mouse mat was a treat for them, and the private show a treat for the GN Crew. Metal bands collabing with GN for rigs should become a thing!

Ever since i got into pc building, been watching gamers nexus for over 2 years and now to finally see my favorite band with my favorite content creator doing a video together, it just completes everything. This video, is the one i will be rewatching UNTIL THE WORLD GOES COLD

I haven't heard from this band in a long time! AWESOME! The fact that the case has such a story makes it that much more metal. Who all can say that their case fell into the ocean and arrived in a moldy box that had to be peeled away?
Trivium dropped two albums in the last couple of years. In the Court of the Dragon and What the Dead Men Say. Both are phenomenal IMO and I listen to them at least once a week.
My mind is actually racing trying to determine the coolest thing about this video - the fact that this case even exists, that GN were able to find and build a pc in such an unconventional form factor, the fact that somebody arranged a project with Trivium of all bands, or the fact that GN boys got to see a live in studio performance of Trivium itself lol
Besides the nightmare of cleaning the case, it seems like everyone had a good time teaming up to put this beast together. Also it was very cool of Matt to give u permission to use their music for the video, will definitely be checking Trivium out!
I'm a huge Trivium fan for over 2 decades now. Let's just say I wasn't expecting this in my feed today. Case looks sick! Also, I love how you can tell which of the guys are into computers by their reactions. Matt has been streaming for years and he plays games. Alex and Paolo are just getting into streaming and then there's Corey, who is just a Florida man - drinking brews and shredding the guitar.
I love everything about this video. The metal theme, the tragic backstory with the entire team descending into madness so you can still have a finished build, even the background music.
A little dissapointed we didn't get to see Steve headbang in this video, but was an amazing build and fun watch regardless! Matt and the other band members seem like super chill guys!
I got to meet Matt, Corey and Paolo in 2006 before and after their first show in Dublin, absolutely lovely group of guys! They put on an amazing show! Watching this was super special.

I met Matt Heafy at Sounds of the Underground in 2007. He was a super nice dude who put on a killer live show back then and seems to be much the same these days. The build looks awesome and this was a fun collab to watch.
This video was a surprise to be sure but a welcome one. I've been listening to Trivium since I was a kid. Six year old me was singing my heart out to Dying in Your Arms back in the day.
Haven't watched yet: I'm guessing the case is gonna be coloured a gray so dark. Post-watch edit: Damn! That build properly *screams* Trivium. You've out-GN'd yourselves on this one, lads. I'm not normally one for "gamer-y"-looking things, but this somehow does a combined gaming/industry/sci-fi thing that I absolutely love. Excellent work, and great video. Also - I'm very curious, do you have any inkling as to how long the case spent in the drink? I know some harbour freight firms *really* go to town on tape, but salt water is mean. I'm impressed it didn't come out much worse for wear, even if it only spent an hour water-logged.
1:39 "I can feel the wet through the gloves." Fun fact (according to me): We can't directly "feel" when something is wet. We sense the cold and change in texture. I remember using trash bags to walk through some water. I was sure the bags were leaking since I could feel the water on my feet. My feet were perfectly dry. It turned out the cold of the water tricked me into thinking my feet were wet. I should add, I'm assuming we can't feel wetness based on my experience. If someone knows differently, I'd like to hear how I'm wrong.
Fun fact: Matt's sister also does awesome video game covers on TH-cam (search Michelle Heafy). Didn't even know who Trivium was until after following her lol
I remember when I discovered Trivium because I had heard they were doing a tour with Slipknot and Coheed and Cambria back in like 2008 or so. They make some killer music and you all made an epic build!

Steve, this is crazy!! I've been a huge Trivium fan for almost 20 years now, and Matt's streams are always a blast. I have had the privilege of seeing them live 3 times over the years, and every time they come out strong, and sound amazing. This computer looks like an absolute beast. Sucks that you guys had so many issues leading up to the delivery, but you really came through for the guys. Congrats! Awesome seeing you guys do this, Trivium has been one of my top/favorite bands since Senior year in HS ('01) and they just keep evolving and getting better as time goes on. The reactions were awesome and this fits so well.
Respect on the assembly work, I just finished putting together a core p3 and they shipped it with two unlabeled piles of 3 or 4 different kinds of screws. Took way too long to out together and that's just a standard mass produced case that did not have shipping damage.

The Band that got into metal, and was the first metal album I ever bought, which was Ascendency. Just had one of my favorite tech channels build them a pc, this night can't get any better. Plus it was complete custom and amazing lookin case.
Trivium really flew under my radar all theses years, cheched it out and damn it's an instant like. And I also love what Matt is doing solo, really gave me some cyerpunk vibe, did he work on the OST ? since the band seems to be so much involved in video games
The collab I didn’t know I needed!! This whole build evokes so much imagery from the Vengance Falls album art, it’s angular design also reminds me of Paolo’s B.C Rich basses before Warwick. Now I gotta go listen to their whole discography again!

Curious you left the GPU aircooled, but an amazing looking build and fantastic collab! Also make branded GN mats happen pls! I can only fit so many on my desk but I'll do my darnest to max that out :D
I met Matt Heafy at Sounds of the Underground in 2007. He was a super nice dude who put on a killer live show back then and seems to be much the same these days. The build looks awesome and this was a fun collab to watch.

This video was a surprise to be sure but a welcome one. I've been listening to Trivium since I was a kid. Six year old me was singing my heart out to Dying in Your Arms back in the day.
Haven't watched yet: I'm guessing the case is gonna be coloured a gray so dark.
Post-watch edit: Damn! That build properly *screams* Trivium. You've out-GN'd yourselves on this one, lads. I'm not normally one for "gamer-y"-looking things, but this somehow does a combined gaming/industry/sci-fi thing that I absolutely love. Excellent work, and great video.
Also - I'm very curious, do you have any inkling as to how long the case spent in the drink? I know some harbour freight firms *really* go to town on tape, but salt water is mean. I'm impressed it didn't come out much worse for wear, even if it only spent an hour water-logged.

Fun fact (according to me): We can't directly "feel" when something is wet. We sense the cold and change in texture.
I remember using trash bags to walk through some water. I was sure the bags were leaking since I could feel the water on my feet. My feet were perfectly dry. It turned out the cold of the water tricked me into thinking my feet were wet.
I should add, I'm assuming we can't feel wetness based on my experience. If someone knows differently, I'd like to hear how I'm wrong.

I remember when I discovered Trivium because I had heard they were doing a tour with Slipknot and Coheed and Cambria back in like 2008 or so. They make some killer music and you all made an epic build!

Steve, this is crazy!! I've been a huge Trivium fan for almost 20 years now, and Matt's streams are always a blast. I have had the privilege of seeing them live 3 times over the years, and every time they come out strong, and sound amazing. This computer looks like an absolute beast. Sucks that you guys had so many issues leading up to the delivery, but you really came through for the guys. Congrats!

Newcomer to your channel. I think it's awesome that you made the recovery of the case, a full video journey - very nice to see. It's not like LTT where they couldn't be bothered to spent 100, 200, or even 500 dollars of peoples time on doing things right ..

Awesome seeing you guys do this, Trivium has been one of my top/favorite bands since Senior year in HS ('01) and they just keep evolving and getting better as time goes on. The reactions were awesome and this fits so well.

Great job on salvaging the case. Some people may have just said screw it when it arrived soaked through and through.
Respect on the assembly work, I just finished putting together a core p3 and they shipped it with two unlabeled piles of 3 or 4 different kinds of screws. Took way too long to out together and that's just a standard mass produced case that did not have shipping damage.

The Band that got into metal, and was the first metal album I ever bought, which was Ascendency. Just had one of my favorite tech channels build them a pc, this night can't get any better. Plus it was complete custom and amazing lookin case.

Trivium really flew under my radar all theses years, cheched it out and damn it's an instant like. And I also love what Matt is doing solo, really gave me some cyerpunk vibe, did he work on the OST ? since the band seems to be so much involved in video games
The collab I didn’t know I needed!! This whole build evokes so much imagery from the Vengance Falls album art, it’s angular design also reminds me of Paolo’s B.C Rich basses before Warwick. Now I gotta go listen to their whole discography again!
