I built a PC, but it moves

- In this video I build a custom PC but design a new case for it and make it kinetic. This is my gaming computer, editing computer, and everything in between. I have spent the last couple months getting the mechanical engineering portions figured out for this custom PC build since I have no idea what I am doing but wanted to make a really complicated design. I have had the idea for a kinetic computer case for a while and after seeing the one from Cyberpower I was excited to try and design and build my own. This is an Arduino project that is actually pretty simple but the mechanical engineering side is difficult having to work within such a constrained space. As far as custom PC case builds go I hope this was one like you have never seen before.

EDIT: I am changing this comment from a FAQ to a link to the behind the scenes video. Airflow? Sound? Digital files? If you have a question that wasn't answered in this video, you should hopefully find it here: th-cam.com/video/sJJ7cc2AYIM/w-d-xo.html
If you are interested in improving airflow, see if you can mount two 140 mm fans on the top of the case. Not sure if you have enough clearance within the case but it would improve the amount of air intake you have tremendously. I wouldn't move the front panel fans to the top though as it'd mess with the lighting effect on the front panel.
@@Prim1itve This is a good solution and you're right there is plenty of space up there currently. I will definitely add those if the airflow ever becomes a problem.
For the sound, you can get silent stepper motor drivers which may help. Also, that looks like a *really* beefy motor for what you need. You might be able to get away with using a smaller motor, which may or may not help.
Instead of sanding the acrylic, I'd recommend some frosted etched vinyl. you can probably get some scraps from a sign/vinyl shop for a piece that small. They may even lay it for you. It'd take like 2 minutes.
does it give me more fps ?
i used a scientific method called "eyeballing it" 💀💀
For me, my usual scientific process is called "winging it". These 2 processes together are called "sure, it'll work" 😂
I call it a educated yolo
It is a "visible light spectrum photon scanning w/ 3 dimensional spacial data collecting and processing" process! 😂
Eat, Sleep, Eyeball, Repeat.
he eyeballed it and is making bank on youtube ads. you did nothing, commented on what he was doing, and got 5 (now 6) replies
This is amazing. You are amazing. The physical and mental fortitude to do this is just downright batty, but wow was the end result worth it! SUCK IT, CYBERPOWER!
grad school level determination honestly....
Cyberpower has to put a bunch of components in it and all that stuff so I don't know why you're doing all that because I have to buy all of that stuff so that's why cyber park hasn't came out with it yet. They could be doing really good right now. By the way, you probably don't even have a PC, so I don't know why you're even talking about that...

@@Sneshie thanks, I guess that supports my point. Grad school level is above average and worth praising imo
Totally not me thinking it would be a pc moving around the desk freely 💀
YOU TO ME TOO
Is your PC running? Well you'd better go catch it! Literally.
As a mechanical engineer, I have to say, that you my fried have every right to call yourself one too. Achieving this with the "limited" skill set you had is insane. You showed miraculous Problem solving skills. I am impressed
Right? He’s smarter than he gives himself credit for. That last panel is amazing.
"Stand proud, you're smart."
Ditto, Im also A Mech Eng and that is great.. the physical part a lot harder then just cad and concept

As a mechanical engineer: I am fu**ing stunned by this craftsmanship! The time and effort you put into this is just mindblowing.
as a community college flunkie dropout I am F(asterisk)(asterisk)cking stunned by how little effort they put into qualifying disingenuous f(asterisk)cks like yourself
I read stunned as stoned lmfao
As another mechanical engineer, im agree with you. This is so much work.
Another mechanical engineer.
Another mechanical engineer
This is absolutely mind blowing.

wow
Dude I thought he failed the last one, animated it as a joke to segway into a solution
I didn’t expect to see you here
Me too
Absolutely mental you managed to see all of this through, I got overwhelmed just watching. You're killing it with these videos and undoubtedly deserve more and more attention
I don't follow you on Twitter but Twitter recommended your tweet to me; you recommended this channel in said tweet and now here I am. I was not dissapointed, 11/10 video. Liked and subscribed, I'll be sharing it around. Thanks!
@@Ideal_Idea
That moment where you finally plugged the more complicated one in and saw all of the pieces moving together as intended must have been so damn satisfying
Your editing is crazy good, the transitions are genuinely magical.

honestly, that one in the beginning with the picture and the drawing was really awesome.
Thought exactly the same
@@Yani.___.the top panel, where it started out as a graphic and very seemlesslu turned into the actual wooden panel and he picked it up, that's the one that got me most
The most impressive part is that you're so consistent and committed to the process that you VISUALIZED every freaking single gear's teeth on that drawing with hundreds of gears. Mindblowing sir
Everyone in the comments is so supportive, but I am kind of disappointed that no one talks about the drawing skills this dude has, but I guess it was shadowed but the hercules work put in the entire video and project. Just amazing ❤
I was shocked by his drawing skills tbh. Especially that intricate drawing at 20:00 x-x
Woodworking and PC building? How did TH-cam miss this in the porn filters? Why hasn't Google put you at the top of my list everyday forever? How is this the first I've heard of you? I loved absolutely EVERYTHING about this. Strong work. Please, please please, keep doing you. The awkward humility and god tier editing really sells it. I loved every minute. Pure genius.
Your transitions for your diagrams are incredible. They're really creative and your designs are stylish.
Criminally underrated, what top notch editing and the humor really landed, not to mention what an awesome concept! 10/10
That second design looks absolutely sick in action. I can't imagine the satisfaction and relief you felt once it worked. Well done! This is the first video of yours that I have seen, and it earned a sub from me for sure
That was amazing! I love the creativity in the editing as well. There's so much care and detail put into every moment here. It truly was a joy to watch. Thanks for sharing!
Wow. The editing, the transitions, the little (and big!) visual tricks, the documentation of the process, the end result - all incredible. Insane work!
Dude I am a mechanical engineer and my jaw literally dropped in the end! So inspiring! It seemed impossible at first but you made it work. Congrats!

This channel is gonna be huge. Your editing and imagination is genuinely great! Keep up the great vids!
This is insane! Very cool! Can't wait to watch all your other projects. And all those to come!
This is unbelievably impressive. As a mechanical engineer the fact that this all came together in that tight of a space is insane to me
then strap on tight and research "wrist watches"
@@Chevdriver Yeah... let's compare this to something that's had thousands of engineers and hundreds of years of development behind it. 😂
@@zenginellc i don't even think they were trying to diss it my guy. They're essentially saying how crazy impressive we as humans are and what we're capable of making work in tight spaces.
Fantastic editing + excellent sense of humor + beautiful designs. This made my day. Thanks!
Thank you for the kind words and the support! It really does mean a lot to me
SIR, because of you . the hidden creative people get a motivation to do something with the help of their creativity handsoff
you are really a genius person. even after such amount of failures you didn,t stop@@Ideal_Idea
Absolutely love the visual effect!
Thanks for sharing and inspiring me for more info about the subject.
This is insane I’ve thought about building a pc case before but this is SO much more props on you for not giving up
I scrolled past this the first few times that it came up in my feed, and I am so thankful that the algorithm kept insisting. This is incredible, great artistic idea, interesting engineering process, just the right amount of subtle humor, and that editing is just… A+. Great work, I can’t even imagine how long each individual piece of this must have taken, but the hard work really shines through!
Me too! I'm so glad I finally clicked.
28 minutes with you feels like 4 minutes. I admire your perseverance and creativity.
Absolutely amazing.. that talent and work put into this blows me away. This should be in every computer magazine and tech channel.
Really awesome work! The amount of work you put into this project cannot be grasped by many. Thanks for effort and sharing your story.
Genuinely one of the best youtube videos ive ever watched. The end resulting illusion actually looks like its still CGI lol you work hard man thats so awesome!
That is very generous in both donation and your words, thank you.
Believe me, that is not generous.
It is masterpiece, hope you reach out many people as you can. Wonderful work. I will follow your contents with my community@@Ideal_Idea
Sir currently i am in 12th grade and i also want to build something amazing like this so which engineering field should i join electrical?
I love when creators show their mistakes and discovery process. This is brilliant!
Yes! Something I only learnt recently for my "hobby" of photography, is that you need to post the bad shots too! If you only show the best, people will never see what it takes to achieve the best ones. I think the same applies here, where it is so much more enjoyable and "grounds" the project to see the iterative process required to achieve a successful design.
Incredible build and the video is just as impressive. Thanks!
Sublime. Both the case and your actual video editing. Love it!
Mad props! I love "stupid", overly complicated, nerdy projects like this! Doing it just because you can and want to challenge yourself is amazing!
Definitely quite silly, lol. Imagine how loud and annoying this is.
@@CigsInABlanketi love contraption white noise i wish i had this case
Dude!!! Your editing skills are on another planet! I had a blast watching this! :D
Wow, I loved the build, but can I just say, the editing quality in this is TOP notch and hilarious! Well done!
This is awesome. I love everything about it. The way describe your thought processes and design. The way you highlight your mistakes and how you clean them up afterwards instead of just sweeping it all under the rug. You have clever humor and editing as well. Kudos!
God this looks so incredibly good, praying more people find your channel before you lose your mind doing these crazy projects solo 🙏
Really enjoyed the build process and your sense of humor, definitely subscribing!
Wow that really came together in the end! Your persistence is truly admirable!
Ok those graphics and the way you integrated them are bloody impressive for a youtube DIY video. Really a step above
Those seamless 3d edits between shots were very mesmerising and the final result of both builds was very satisfying. You earned yet another sub!
thank you for show edit and comment all the process, was a delightful thing to watch
This was an amazing watch. Randomly popped up on my feet and I'm glad it did
24:45
I'm so glad you kept this part in, because it really shows how much effort went into the final build. Seeing you work so hard for a design just to have to start completely over has to be the most defeated feeling. It really does make it much more impactful when it finally works though!
wtf mesmerising feat of mechanical engineering. you 200% deserve this. i can't imagine anybody else being as committed to making this work
Thank you for making this video and the full explanation of how everything works because I really want to try this now. Fantastic job by the way! :)
Such a cool build. Love your overall attitude and comedic approach. Great content!
this is one of the most beautiful videos I've ever seen on youtube, I can't even imagine the amount of time it took to organize and edit this entire video let alone how long and how much work it took to work and make all of this into a reality, this is truly mind blowing by every definition.
We gotta respect the sheer amount of effort put into editing this video
Like oh my goodness those transitions are beautiful
Not to mention the very complicated idea👌👌👌
I absolutely love your editing style of those silky smooth transitions!
that end result is insane. It makes me happy to see somebody who is effectively an amateur tackle this project and just learning as they go. Makes me feel like I could also attempt to do cool things like this without needing to be an expert. Great vid
You're channel is gonna be huge if you keep doing content like that! It's soo awesome :)
Amazing how something so creative and detailed can grab my attention for 27 mins. I didn’t take my eyes off the screen once, just the thought of the level of determination and engineering. Amazing video, watched every second. Hope yt blows this up
Had no idea before or during that it was 27 mins, genuinely enthralling content. Both your design skills and creativity for the case then combined with the quality of edit you put together. Next level stuff mate! Congrats.
not only is this entire process and end result a masterpiece, but so is the editing of this video. this is incredible and i hope to be able to do this one day :)
Man, this is one of the most amazing builds i have seen on youtube. The amount of thought and work and time... Other creators would have split this into 8 videos (which would make it unwatchable) but you did all this work ... my deepest respect!
Dude this is amazing. Huge props, you really crushed it!
I wish there was more content to watch. The editing is amazing, the storytelling is amazing, it's all just awesome stuff. Sorry for your loss of sanity, but thank you for the 27 minutes!
everything is awesome, editing, concept visualization, humor, concept video. even make it come true and work
This is "insane". Thr amount of work is out of my mind. But it looks really cool. Thanks for sharing this
This is probably one of the best videos i have ever watched on yt. The editing and transitions are incredibly visually appealing. The narration is clear and explanative without being boring. The video work is superp. You are a genius who only accepts the best, and this video reflects that, making it a delight to watch.
Amazing! You've inspired me to get going on some kinetic art projects I've been postponing, though I have no idea how you find the time and energy for these incredibly detailed projects. Congratulations!
Little bits at a time is all it takes, good luck on your project!
This build(s) are sick, great job it turned out awesome!
It's literally phenomenal mate, great work!!!!
Man this is so cool, and the icing on the cake was the fantastic editing. Amazing job!
Can we just appreciate the skill he used to edit this video? ❤😅
This is just something out of the world.. and the engineering is next level!! Kuddos to you for this amazingggg bulidd!!!!
This took sooooo much effort bro and came out amazing. Great job! :D
Wow man, what you have created, in terms of creativity, aesthetics, just pure hours and hours of work and dedication and also on the video side, snappy editing, good humor, nice 3d compositing. All of that makes you a solid channel, one of the very few actually! Keep it up!
As an architecture undergrad final-year student, I somewhat understand the complexity and the insane amount of effort that went into this project. I have massive, massive respect for seeing this through. I had the widest smile on my face ever. Some day, I would love to try this out myself as well.
Brilliant! The project was really cool. The process was incredible. And the video editing was really neat. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Subscribed!
What a cool video! Fruit put it best, this is overwhelming (and amazing)! Great job!
This is the first time I've come across this channel. Just wanna say, the transitions are just so insanely clean! It's crazy.
It's crazy how this hasn't caught on yet. Just from your build alone, the potential is exponential. Love your work!
This is probably one of the coolest videos and final outcomes I've seen on TH-cam. My son really loves it too. Thank you for sharing this with us
I'm not even 2 minutes in and the cuts are already SO good. Having us wonder what the circle was supposed to show, for the arduino to show up in the middle, and dropping the markers, to color the sketch, instead of just showing the finished sketch. So satisfying
I realize this is a comment that may be lost in the flood, but I wanted to let you know that your editing quality is truly one of the best I've ever seen on TH-cam - it's smooth, relevant, and really really cool. This is the first video of yours I've stumbled upon, and I'm blown out of the water with it. Enjoy your day sir, and keep being astounding
I always read through all the comments even if I cant respond to each one, thank you for the kind words!
I think this is the best video I ever seen on TH-cam. You are amazing! This is beyond determination.
This is an insanely impressive amount of designing and just plain intricate, detailed work that I would not have the patience for. Super cool.

The second one looks so trippy and almost like an animation. Really amazing craftsmanship.
this was an insane build, Kudos dude.
this video was so good !! the editing is insanly good, the rythme, your determination, and the end result !! you are a legend !! keep going !!!
Dude, your editing, your way of explination, the framing of shots, and THE SIMPLICITY OF DESIGN. You sir, have the makings of a killer TH-cam channel on your hands, outstanding project.
i’m amazed by the fact you did all that work, realized it’s not going to work and you went back and redid it! motivation is hard to sustain, i’m glad you kept it!
