Y'all can watch all of the celebrity chefs you want. If you find 1 (that is one) that can come even close to Msbrenda Dee's abilities, point me in that direction. This wonderful lady captures the very essence and (yes) soul of every dish she prepares. I am an old white guy who was raised on the same food. She brings back more happy memories of my childhood than you could imagine. Some of y'all have no idea what it is like to wonder where your next meal might come from....or if there would be a next meal. Where I am from, there was but one race of people.....the human race. That might be beyond your comprehension, but you have no idea how many times the Msbrenda Dees of the South kept many from going hungry. If there was enough recognition for her love, kindness, and talents, she would receive a Nobel Prize.
Awww...Thank you so much for that "Wonderful" comment Mr. Edward. You just don't know how many times I've thought about throwing in the towel. I no longer have those thoughts...Why??? Because of you and many more beautiful people like you that love and supports me. I must press on beyond the negative comments and being ridicule by mean people. I will never forget you...Mr. Edward and your kind words. When I'm down God always send me consolation from someone. This time the consolation was from you. May God continue to Bless you and your family tremendously. Love always, Ms Brenda Dee.
@@MsBrendaDee You deserve the thanks for giving so much of your kindness and talent. With your help, I have managed to recreate many dishes that I have not had in years. Please, please, never throw in the towel. If you do there will be a whole bunch of folks lost! My wife and I have found so many wonderful foods that others know little about. you take me right back to my old arkansas roots with your cooking, im 77 now and getting back to cooking some like i used to for my boys when we were by ourselves fro a while years ago. i bet you are aware that people today cook their greens different, some don't even look edible, most don't get them clean. i use ham hocks and i love the combination of collard, mustard, and turnip, and i always put some turnips in. boy when i make those greens and a big pot of pinto beans and a couple pones of corn bread i almost have to stand over the food to make sure someone don't take it all. i was born and raised in the mississippi delta and didn't leave till 1954, my gramma and my aunts could make your mouth water with those smells coming from the kitchen, we used to get together once a year for the old family reunions either in arkansas or missouri but as we got older so many were gone or too old to travel. but just watching you gives me a good feeling, thanks for the videos. this is one old man that really appreciates it
Ms Dee made a perfect meal. Wish I was there. I love seasoned mustard greens with turnips, cornbread and thick cold buttermilk. Sometimes, I crumble cornbread in a bowl, sprinkle sugar and pour buttermilk over. That is dessert. Have yall heard of that?

Hi Brenda! "Oh yeah, "we are both old school😃" I just ran across your channel and it's so good to see someone that cooks so much as I do! The way my mother taught me! I could tell from the water in the bottom of the bowl you must have washed your greens leaf by leaf like my mother taught me also. I saw some comments about whether you washed the short ribs or not! I'm sure you probably washed them before you froze them because I can tell you are a "clean cook". The only thing that we do differently are the short ribs. I brown them in the oven, and I make a little roux and put my onions and little green onions and bell pepper in there and then my spices and some beef stock. I then cover them with foil and let them bake until they are about ready to fall apart. The turnip greens we cook very similarly. I use ham hocks or some kind of smoke meat in it but I can tell it's delicious the way you did them also. The cornbread looks fabulous I've subscribed and will be checking you out often have a blessed day God bless you

I have never made cornbread from anything other than a mix where you just add egg and milk. I haven't made greens or neck bones either but they looked delicious!!

Just came across your video yesterday I stewed fresh pig tails, seasoned with sliced onion, chopped garlic, S&P, chicken granules, granulated onion and garlic, with collards! Yum,yum, yum! Gonna make your recipe with the fresh neck bones, turnips and mustards.
Oh Ms. Brenda! That looks so good! And you cooking with your daughter is beautiful. My mom passed May 2015. I miss her cooking. But she taught me well in the kitchen. I never thought about cooking greens with the neck bones. I'm trying that! Thank you.

Awww I missed this one and will definitely ome back again to watch it all over again. I don't like a lot juice in my greens either & will be trying this method. Don't think Ive had turnips before either. Kind of look like a potato. Thanks Ms. Brenda. And your daughter is beautiful & seems like a sweetie
The only things I fo diff w my cornbread is add a couple of dashes of White Pepper and I sprinkle the whole back w a littlr black pepper.

Thank you for sharing your cooking /recipes . I live in Minnesota, but learned to love Southern foods while traveling and staying down South in many states. As I rarely can get such good foods up here anywhere but at home, I appreciate so much being able to learn from you.
