@@MsBrendaDee God bless you and yours, too! My half sister has been asking me for my “recipe” for dumplings and I don’t have a recipe. I try to make mine like Grandma did. Yours are the closest that I have found. I sent her your video! I told her the differences between Grandma’s and yours but she still hasn’t tried to cook them. If she makes them just like yours, she will still have good chicken and dumplin’s. Thank you!

So I've tried multiple chicken and dumpling recipes. Living in Mississippi all my life, I had my share of legit chicken and dumplings. But unfortunately, all the women i knew in my family who made it passed away before I started real cooking, so I've had to look up recipes on the internet. None of the recipes i have tried myself have really come close until now. Ms Brenda Dee, you done done me right. Thanks so much for this excellent recipe. I made it last night for our family and every single remarked how good it was. The only thing I added was maybe a half teaspoon of ground black pepper to the dumpling flour. I like the flavor, texture, and look with black pepper up in there.

Miss Linda I’m 39 and learned to cook from my grandmas. My moms mother cooked literally everything from scratch. She didn’t like packed food unless she canned it herself. Every blue moon I use pre packaged processed stuff but 95% of the time I cook from scratch too. I don’t even buy snacks. I make them. My husband says I do everything the hard way and I always tell him he’ll live longer the way I do it lol.

I always used bisquick. I knew they wasn’t hard but I never remembered how to make them. My dads mom told me to use the bisquick. Its still good but I’m gonna give this a go.

try one cup all purpose flour and one cup boiling water. Mix with a wood spoon etc let if cool a little then roll and cut. THE BEST DUMPLINGS THERE ARE you dont add butter to them or even broth its not needed. Try it you will see how easy this dish is.

@@heidilecompte4198 so u guys dont have KFC or churches fried chicken? my favorite use to be churches until they had to change the cooking oil to non fatening, i still enjoy thee cajun rice.. but kfc original or crispy is awesome. i meant to say southern style cornbread and dressing , i bought most of the ingredients today, i would watch my mom make it every year but havent come across any as good since she passed away in 2015.. i am also doing the chicken and dumplings. i have baked chicken and boiled it but never thought of adding dumplings. if u r not a lazy person u can become quite the cook with a little time and effort. left over chicken can become a complete meal simply adding to it. discovering these recipes r a blessing during this pandemic having to stay home from fear of catching the virus and also for men who r recently divorced or who have lost there wife whom never had to cook.

I'll be honest with you, as a white woman from the NW the ONLY chicken and dumplings I've encountered were the drop kind with cream of chicken etc etc (you get my point). I did like it but up north here real Southern cooking can be a novelty and I gotta say I was skeptical about the dumplings and I have not made this yet but #1 it LOOKS SO GOOOOOD
#2 the comments have me SOLD.
#3 I have a little pie making experience so I'm eager to try these rolled out dumplings.
I am very happy I paused on this channel and am going to make this for sure!
Thank you so very much for sharing. My momma made the best tuna casserole and it took me years after she passed to find one with sour cream and pimentos, so you can imagine my delight when ppl here in the comments mentioned that they had been looking for a dumpling recipe just like yours for years!
Very excited to try this as the weather turns colder. Much love from the NW!

Thank you Ms. Brenda! I have been craving chicken and dumplings and your recipe was the first I found without the cream soups which I hate. I attempted to make dumplings years ago but they never came out right. Today, I made your recipe and I AM IN LOVE!!! This is exactly what I have been craving. I just hope I don't eat the whole pot before my husband gets home. LOL! God bless you!

Now this reminds me of my mother’s chicken and dumplings (God rest her soul) I sure miss her😢. Mama made them like you do---WITH A WHOLE LOTTA LOVE AND TENDERNESS. I’m almost 70 years old and I loved my mama’s cooking! She was born and bred in the deep south and EVERYTHING she cooked tasted sooooo good! I cheat when I make my chicken and dumplings sometimes. I used canned biscuits, sprinkle them with flour, and roll ‘em out on my pastry board and cut them just like you (and mama did). Thanks for the recipe. Brought back many treasured and precious memories of our family sitting around the dinner table; Daddy saying the blessing; and ENJOYING God’s gift.
