@@Celician83 I've been very happy with the M142 despite the compromises. It was a great deal. I wouldn't be surprised if Ryzen 3000 laptops are the bargain kings for a while now that Ryzen 4000 is upon us.
Yeah, at least it has an IPS screen. There are still new laptops being sold that are twice or even three times as expensive that could only dream of having a sub-par IPS display.
@@MPdude237 There are many worst IPS screens on laptops for 800,1000, 1200 dollars. HP and Lenovo are the most obvious examples - HP still offer terrible IPS, some with less accuracy than this one, and Lenovo would offer 50-55% accuracy screen in laptops from their high end thinkpad lineup. There are many other examples from every company and almost every price range.
Wow, wish this came out when i was in college years ago. This would've been so useful for me because i was literally running on each dime to make it through
"Gaming expectations" I would have killed to get a 250 dollar laptop that could run rocket league or Minecraft with 60 FPS. The fact rocket league even launches on this 250 dollar machine is a miracle. This machine is godlike
Minecraft crashed on my 300$ laptop and when it didn't, it ran below 12fps. Even Windows was too much for it, I had to go with Linux to be able to browse the web in an non-infuriatingly slow manner.
And Microsoft's Surface machines had shitty Marvell adapters until the current gen. I mostly get 802.11n WiFi in my room whilst my phone still gets ac - it's abysmal.
Paid 2000€ for my Lenovo and it had some cheap ass Realtek card in it. Dropped wifi every 15 minutes and when i used my Thunderbolt to get data from my extern hdd wifi was always disabled. Since i upgraded to Intel, none of this problems occur anymore.

I have the Ryzen 5 version and I love it! Would 100% recommend this laptop to ANYONE! I don’t have any complaints. The price was amazing and what you get for the cash is definitely a deal.
I actually bought this after the video dropped, and while it's been fine for what I use it for, I do find it alarming that it has a Li-Po battery, you know, the explodey ones. I didn't even notice until I read the underside of it one day, that's a bit too much ordinance near the boys if it's on your lap. They also like to permadie if you don't take extra care of those batteries, meaning keeping it charged and fully charging it each time, no extreme temps, etc. Theoretically it could overheat itself to death
"Such a low-end processor, it's just 2 cores and 4 threads" Anyone remember a couple years ago when 2 cores was all you could get in the 15W class of processors?
@@thegardenofeatin5965 it always throws me off when i see an "i7" laptop with only two cores. it's just weird. but then again, intel's entire laptop cpu naming scheme is just weird.
I have a first-gen Blade Stealth with a 2 core 4 thread Intel processor. It's probably pretty comparable but was a $1000 machine when I bought it in 2016. AMD's GPU is probably also a fairly major step up from Intel's HD 520 that my Blade Stealth has. The Blade has a Chroma keyboard that feels great to type on and a nice, bright 1440p touchscreen display though, that's obviously where Walmart cheaped out here.
it's "tongfang" chassis...google to see if there is any retailer/seller that sell this model under their name, like walmart, in your country/neighbor countries.
AMD was like: "Psst... Walmart! You see this CPU, yeah? Put it in your laptop, thank me later... Another thing, use Ryzen for your next desktop PC's... Again, thank me later"
Got the ryzen 5 version with 8gb of ram for 330 bucks for my mom who teaches from home with Zoom. Honestly, this is the best budget laptop we've ever had. Windows Hello works flawlessly every time, the keyboard isn't the mushiest, and the trackpad is honestly nicer than most laptops 2-3x the price. Always fast and responsive with no issues whatsoever over the past year.
Thomas B-C . One isn't an "official" (Non-Eon Productions) bond film, it was a film rights thing. Never Say Never Again is based on the story of Thunderball.
@@thomasb-c4831 _Never Say Never Again_ was made because of a weird legal situation at the time involving one of the Bond novels and was not made by usual Bond studio EON Productions; actually appearing in theaters the same year as _Octopussy._ The rights have since reverted to EON, but it remains as this weird, semi-official entry in the James Bond series.
I have had this for about 2 months and the screen will always turn off randomly. After research I found out that basically 50% of the people that bought this had the same issue. It looks like the solution was to update the BiOS from the 1.03 (the BiOS the computer is shipped with) to the 1.06 or the 1.05. It’s weird to think that a company like Walmart wouldn’t even test a little bit what they are selling to the customer.
@@bfcarrington Have you done any of the possible upgrades/expansions on it? I'd love to see if it does any better with the NVME second drive and 8gb of RAM. My 'on the go' 15" HP is a meager dual core Celeron system I caught on a wicked deal (under $100), and I haven't upgraded it yet, but it is quite limited. This would be about the same as what I got in terms of price, so could be a viable replacement, if the means and opportunity came about.
Yea it's kind of fun to see how m.2 has changed that market, the smaller size and comparable prices mean that laptops are preferring them lately. It lets them leave out a lot of other physical bits that you need for 2.5" drives like you used to need.
Ssd storage is cheap now, very nice and major space saver. This is a great office work laptop that I'm definitely scooping for employees, since most people dont have to run anything harder than excel

Every time he does an in-video ad... We get to see Linus trade a tiny bit of his soul for monetary gain. Look closely and you can actually see the portion of his soul wisp away through through his pupils and out into the cosmos where it is devoured by the dark Gods of chaos....
Hmmm, monetary gain... Let's see, Linus competitively and gainfully employs staff, pays rent on the LTT facility, keeps a roof over himself, a wife and 3 children and their tummies fed. I would say Linus' "soul" is in great shape. After all, if there's no "monetary gain" (ie income), do you think Yvonne and kids would be happy campers? Not likely!
Iv been using my $350 motile(ryzen 5, 8gb ram) 6-8 hours STRAIGHT everyday at work. Then about an hour when I get home from work. I'v had it for 2 months and have been really impressed.
The fact that it can do ANY gaming at $250 is pretty amazing, would love to see a comparison between modern Intel integrated graphics and Vega integrated graphics in APUs at a like for like price point/form factor.
My first lab top was a Walmart discontinued model. Like 15-16 years ago. Got it for 200 dollars, I used it for like 5-6 years. And it worked surprisingly well.
Great to see nice low-end tech getting some love. This is definitely going on my friends/family recommendation list for the ones that need more than what ChromeOS can offer.
the only way I use chrome OS these days is via Neverware's Cloudready OS which is actually based on Chromium OS, and install it on an old desktop, or Windows 7 era, or newer laptop that's starting to get long in the tooth, I've been burned by a few official Chrome OS devices that stopped getting updates not even 2 years after I bought them. if someone needs more than Cloudready OS I don't even bother with Win 10 anymore, but instead recommend Linux Mint Debian Edition, or Manjaro with Mate DE.

@@NeonGauntlet I have the more expensive version and I'm typing on it right now - we use it for Minecraft and Roblox mostly and for those, it performs like a dream. On the low spec option, it'd be hard to run Minecraft and stuff like that because of the RAM. We tried Fortnite on it, and we put it on Medium (everything) and got around 60 FPS, 40 if there were a lot of people nearby. 1080P Video editing is fine on both Davinci Resolve and Premiere Pro, but I wouldn't use it for things like heavy color grading or high framerate video (over 60 FPS) Note: the 6 GB of available RAM on the 8 GB model does limit you a bit, I'd recommend upgrading to 16.
