Amazon has gotten real rough lately. I just helped my parents pick out new laptops, went to "the acer store" on Amazon and picked out an inspire laptop for them. They both came and wouldnt charge so needed to be sent to Acer. Acer sent them back, with a letter saying that there were mon Acer parts installed and they would not put them back in. After calling Acer to find out how this was possible I learned, they do not sell on Amazon. This is just how Amazon lists sellers that sell Acer products...as " the acer store". Anyway i got one of them working fine and aside from the now obvious fact that it was not original it is a great laptop. The other had to be sent back as it had a ton of issues. Seems to me like someone just salavaged a bunch of doa laptops and mixed and matched parts then sold them on Amazon as brand new. Also Amazon seemed completely unphased at how counterintuitive it is to buy from "the acer store" when nothing is coming from Acer.

Intel iGPUs don't (usually) reserve VRAM in a way that takes away from the total system RAM. My laptop has 16GB of RAM and an Intel Iris Xe, 15.7GB is visible in the Task Manager and the GPU has a visible 7.8GB of shared memory. I guess used VRAM counts towards total RAM usage instead of a specific amount being cordoned off specifically for the iGPU, which AMD chips do.

those gateway "laptops" was actually named as "netbooks" back then. Almost like the first versions of Chromebooks. Don't bash those gateways that hard. I bet if u put them for a long term use, the gateway can survive far longer that the others. My old gateway survived 5 yrs and 3 continental flights.
Thats why no sane person would buy a cheap or off-brand computer for any reason simply because its a waste. With off-brand computers you are highly possible to get scammed. As for cheap laptops, they tend to be very low quality to the point where they can break from a sneeze. Also cheap laptops are very slow and annoying as hell. In summary just save your money until you can get a brand (legit) laptop for 1000-2000$ so you don't have to deal with any BS. This is regardless of whether you are a gamer or just an old granny.
Im not going to lie I have a strong inclination that the random Ryzen is one of them "embedded APU SOC" mostly used for commercial equipment. Minus the GPIO.

We the people want you to show us a GOOD cheep laptop pc.Please! 😢
$299.99- please.
The way the iGPUs work with the memory is using about 2GB of memory, I have an APU in my system and when I was using the integrated video, it did take the 2GB, but now that I have a video card, there is no decreased memory.
The gateway laptop, appears to have had a Wal-mart VizPick Label on it, Likely a Reseller that got them on clearance for cheap cheap
I Love Austin Evans Videos 💙
What if you buy the laptop and get the giftcard, and then return the laptop to amazon 💀
the warranty void sticker at 14:25 is *completely decoration (in the united states at least)* because of some ruling quite some time ago
My wife just passed by and said “is that Logic” when she saw Austin. I just need someone else to know about this
Gateway is a name brand and was one of the largest pc manufacture in the 90's i wouldnt call them a name brand
I would look in the bios and see if some of the cores are disabled for some reason.
I hate that I recognized a vizpick label on the gateway laptop
you know it might be preconfigured in msconfig to limit the max cpu cores
5:06 THE MONSTERS INC EMPLOYEE IS SO ACCURATE
Next you should make a video about the mini PC's!
those gateway "laptops" was actually named as "netbooks" back then. Almost like the first versions of Chromebooks. Don't bash those gateways that hard. I bet if u put them for a long term use, the gateway can survive far longer that the others. My old gateway survived 5 yrs and 3 continental flights.
Austin and Friends, your channel is one of the best for the variety of the content.
I wrote "I love shady computer from amazon"
Thats why no sane person would buy a cheap or off-brand computer for any reason simply because its a waste. With off-brand computers you are highly possible to get scammed. As for cheap laptops, they tend to be very low quality to the point where they can break from a sneeze. Also cheap laptops are very slow and annoying as hell. In summary just save your money until you can get a brand (legit) laptop for 1000-2000$ so you don't have to deal with any BS. This is regardless of whether you are a gamer or just an old granny.
The fact that the second laptop had a whats app or whatever QR code for the "lifetime warranty" is pretty shady.
Im not going to lie I have a strong inclination that the random Ryzen is one of them "embedded APU SOC" mostly used for commercial equipment. Minus the GPIO.
I feel this 'free' ssd will be a flex on a broke vs Pro
Spelling errors on the package are always a good sign.😂
ok "tylko jedno w głowie mam ***** 5g" Gold XD
You just had to Google the numbers on the chip dude. "It's just a bunch of random numbers!" Yeah and one of them is a model number, Jesus
Lol last time i danced like that - i really had crabs.
The saddest part of this video to me is that these can run Windows 11, but a Ryzen 1800x can't 🤣
Thanks Microsoft. Meanwhile playing almost every game in Windows 10 my CPU doesn't go over 20% usage with Discord and TH-cam usually across 3 monitors 🤣🤣🤣🤣
You know it takes 5 minutes or less to bypass the Windows 11 requirements and upgrade? You're not actually limited to Windows 10.
It's because of those TPM 2.0 support requirement, which are not making much sense unless you're using advanced biometrics and/or disk encryption
classic microsoft
@@lbsiukSure, but should not have to work around arbitrary limitations right.
windows 11 is just windows 10 with a new taskbare more ads and bloatware and rounded edges when apps are not fullscreen so it doesn't really matter
I believe you. I 100% believe you over the Amazon sellers.
to hear a song about cocaine in my mothertounge, in one of your videos - priceless
I never tire of watching this dude 😂
Great review😁
Austin Maybe the next video could be mini, micro, stick pc’s?
Dear Austin’s team. If I was you I would listen to the song at 11:08 and reconsider placing it next time in the video 😂. But on the other hand it is funny.
Hmm now I’m nervous about buying one of these off brands. Thought I would check here first and glad I did 👍
i don't know why, but the power button and the camera cover thing on the ecohero look almost identical to a Lenovo. which means that either Lenovo is using a laptop shell made by a third party, or the ecohero guys decided to "borrow" some stuff
Yea, I wanted to say the same
