Always wanted one of these F-6s or even an F-8. Don't know why, just like these old trucks. Polish the paint, make a nice stake body or custom dump box with bench seats. That 76 Chev is amazing, Might be the best unrestored one left, they all rusted away in the early '80s. How does someone keep a car so nice for all these years?
Where are you going to find another in good shape? Pay the man if you want it. The time to buy something is when you see it! That would make an amazing ramp truck with a diesel engine installed!
To be honest it’s to nice to chop up. Shine and clean what is there and what he could do is to clean what is there add fenders and make a utility bed for it.
Archie is knowledgeable and a good guy. That truck is sweet. I hope it all works out so everybody is happy. Thanks for the video, Nice to see the eastern side of Canada.
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANTLY DONE,FANTASTIC CAR CONTENT ,,A HUNDRED YEARS KNOWLEDGE FROM KNOWLEDGEABLE REAL CAR GUYS,,,BEST CONTENT ,GREAT CHANGE ARE NORM!!!ALL WE NEED IS JIMBO ,OLD HOTRODDERS ,MUSEUM'S AND CAR SHOWS,,,THAT'S HOW U GET MILLIONS OF SUBSCRIBERS.....DO IT CHAD ,JOLEEN,JIM,AISEN AND HEAR HEADS.
Your two speed axle allows two ratios in each gear, you can actually split the shift between gears for a heavy load or uphill climb. Your 13 speed tranny is actually a 5 speed main transmission with a 3 speed rear box attached which normally would give you 15 speeds but you don’t split the low hole or number one gear. I think it’s easier to drive the 13 speed than split the axle ratios on that 2 speed rear end.
It’s not the question of will he sell it, it’s the question of will you give him what it’s worth. Personally, I would Of through eight grand at him from go , and work from there. The thing is Chad, he told you he could sell just the cab for five grand, And telling him you would pay five grand for the whole truck ! The thing is Chad, how much do you really want that truck, and how much are you really willing to pay for it.
Loved this video ! What a great character this guy is he currently knows his stuff when it comes to his cars. He has some really cool cars Who ever ends up with any of those cars are going to be a lucky person. I don’t know what you can do with the Truck but it would make some great content for your channel.
Vacuum shift rear axle. Spring holds it in low, vacuum pulls it into high. Hauled some grain for a farmer who had a 49 ford just like that. Thought it odd that the cable that controlled the valve to shift the axle was on the dash. Most everyone else mounted the cable on the shifter. Guess it's a Ford thing. Had an old dodge with the vacuum shift axle. Got it running, axle was in high, took a test drive and the thing went to backfiring. Everytime it backfired it lost vacuum, the axle would shift to low, then back to high between backfires. Like to broke my neck from all the jerking before I could push the cable in to keep it in low.
This was such a great video. I love listening to all the knowledge that was shared !! Thank you again bad Chad and Jolie for sharing this awesome video !! ♥️🍺😎
the 48. was the , , ,to my mind nicest design for a a l ight truck , , I was in love with a 48 dump truck. that used to drive by in a small Ontario town in the early 1980s. disappearing into the tree's .it was faded orange , , with just a little rust . a thing of beauty .
I just bought a 1949 ford f6 flathead 239 xfire truck from yarmouth and drove it to Saint John N.B. awesome truck 12600 miles on it ..I have slowly turned it into a dually halfton
Chad you was right about the tyres having tubes in them they are tube type wheels and tyres .the wheels are what we call a split rim because its got a locking ring that holds the tyre on . Keep up the great work the both of you 👍 👏
If you look at a mans garage or work shop, you can tell instandly if he is the real deal for knowledge and working on vehecles and then add his age ,he has the experience to know whats he talking about..great video Bad Chad
@@stewarthoman6543 Hi ,over here in Holland Homan isn't a common name as well, but there are more here, spreaded out over the country, most of them were living in the the north of Holland,in the province of Groningen and Drenthe, nice to know they've gone all over the world
It might of had a 500 gallon tank on it. Water is 8.5 lbs per gallon, so you're looking at 4200 lbs just with the water, then add on the hose and the rest of the equipment, that's why the rear frame is heavy-duty.
Great video guys. I’m a contractor and meet all kinds of interesting old fellas, hell I could sit and BS with these old guys all day. Guy I’m working for now is just finishing up a Willy’s jeep project. Clean as a freaking pin.
The Ford F-Series has a nice distinctive front, it would make a nice vehicle to transport your cars. 😎👍 Interesting trip, Archie has a lot of things to look at. Greetings from Switzerland
Trucking down the highway, Dum Do Dump. Get it so you don't have to drive back, that's another 10 hours round trip. That's the truck for the job, perfect size for Jolene's race car and you could tow your race car with it.
What is it .? Everyone wants a little red truck . I've seen loads of calenders with that red truck or facsimile of one . I guess it makes you want one lol thumbs-up Jolene and Chad 👍
What this means as a community is a sure pursuit of the next find , a few phone calls to old buddies like this young man get you the leads to the gold .
Cool old truck...nice little adventure..always like these little trips...it would make a cool hauler for jolenes racecar...hope you aquire it...cya tomorrow Chad and jolene
Just like Archy said the 33- 34 are my favorite year's in the 1930s era car's that I like don't get me wrong the 30-32-36 are cool looking car's to. I just like the styling how FORD took it a step further in the horse power. Chad said that is gold sitting there he's right to find an Oringal car would be like finding a lot of gold. They do make reproduction 33-34s metal or fiber glass.
Tell Archie he should send his chroming out to Dependable Plating in Burnaby BC. Those hubcaps would probably be $200 a piece if in good condition and only needing strip, polish and plate.
@@bradzimmerman3171 well I guess Archie would disagree since he was looking for quotes to rechrome those on his ‘31 Graham and the quote from an Ontario shop some decades ago was $400 a piece.
I have a Clark BL700 backhoe that has f6 brakes and wheel cylinders, Clark used parts from readily available manufacturer. Ford transmission, for speed, Alison transmission for forward and reverse.
@Mike Raffphone Maybe I “f” ed it up. I replaced the brakes in the Clark they were a Ford f- something 1960 ish?( per repair manual) got them at local auto store. Several years ago, so maybe forgot and misremembered.
Archie is sharp, great memory, up to date on the market. Guys like this make the hobby so much more interesting.
Old guys like Archie , you can't fool them they have Ben there and done that ! I've Ben in this spot a couple times ! There sharp !!!
Archie is great. Do more videos with him. He has a lifetime of experience.
