This really is better than anything on TV. To put together almost 3 hours of high-quality content like this must take an insane amount of editing and behind the scenes work. Thanks for always pumping out amazing content! We appreciate it a lot dude!
I think about that all the time. To make an episode here every week along with Roadworthy Rescue and all the shows where he participates and meets with fans every time and all the travel is crazy. Idk where the man finds time to sleep, let alone edit videos. Even the shorter ones take forever. National Treasure fr!
Love the channel and the start-to-finish video format. My wife was laughing at me because I happen to put on a Vice Grip Garage t-shirt this morning then sat and watched the video this morning...
Just to let you know the variety of people who watch and appreciates your videos... I am a 70 y.o. retired automotive engineer who worked at Chevy Engineering during this era and owned a C3 and drove C3's of all varieties and engine types...manual and automatic. I am actually a second generation engineer as my father worked for Chevy Engineering and he brought home all of Chevy's performance cars from the 60's, 70's until he retired. We used to take them out after dinner and open them up. A walk down memory lane and how utterly simple these cars are compared to today. Nobody will be taking a current car and doing what you are doing almost 50 years later like this. Just love your tenacity and knowledge of these old cars. So impressive. I used to do the same as you when young and most cars I had even through engineering school, were hand be downs that didn't run that I put many miles on....all pre-internet. God Bless you sir.
Seeing this comment makes me smile sir! Just so you know, the legacy of carbureted and simple vehicles still lives on with yung'uns (I am 22 now). Last year, I purchased a 1982 Mazda RX7. It's a carbureted rotary engine car, and I would have been lost without knowing how to handle and work on carbs. Simply watching Derek and his videos gave me enough confidence to get into it and learn how they work. That car's now had its engine rebuilt, and the wonky carburetor problems have been fixed! Thanks for sharing your story, I bet Derek appreciates is as much as I do.
Lot of people are picking these vehicles up, especially the GM's and reviving them. There's an industry growing. If you notice watching Vice Grip, parts are available.
As a 50 year old man, I can honestly say this is literally become one of my favorite things to watch in my lifetime. That is including the awesome TV shows of the 1980's such as, The A Team, Dukes of Hazzard, Knight Rider and even Saturday morning cartoons! These long form Vicegrip Garage videos are my absolute favorite thing to watch in the evening on my weekends. Thanks Derek for giving us great content on a subject we all enjoy... Fixing old stuff! Keep it up!
This is a 69 year old woman who agrees with you 💯,Love to watch this young man,he reminds of growing up watchin' my brother ' do the same,or get their car fixed. Great stuff !!!!
I am a 66 year old woman. I love to watch these videos. I am amazed and worry when you're driving them. Last night. I thought how lazy and soft i am. I love my AC. I cant imagine how hot it was while you put this car bCk together. Thank you for ALL that you do. Take care!
Love your energy and channel, just subscribed, I used to work on my vehicles but as I've gotten older, not happening, stay safe and im looking forward to next one bub
Thank you, Derek, for always providing great content. I've been fighting terminal cancer for 5 years and don't get out much because of pain and reduced mobility. Your show gives me a laugh and mental lift and allows me to go along with you on your adventures. I hope to see you restore this anniversary corvette and give her a reasonable paint job.
My father , his name is Rick Pilgrim worked at Ringle Chevy in Edgar Wi from years 77-79 when he was in high school he is watching this video and he is very excited to say he is very sure that is the same car that was in the showroom in his younger days of being there !! Make him proud and bring this car back to life . Edgar Wisconsin is a small country farm town with a pop of about 1500 where I graduated high school in 2006 !!
I have a black 78 Corvette I bought a couple years ago. It sat in a garage for 24 years. Only a few miles since the last oil change that was done in Norwalk, Ohio in 1997. Would love to know more about it's history. Wasn't even 20 years old when it was parked. Guy had at least 5 other corvettes when he passed away and his son sold them to the guy I bought it from.
Just spent the last just under 3 hours watching a guy bring an old Corvette back to life. Can’t think of a better way to kill a Sunday afternoon. Thanks Derek. Slowly working my way through your back catalogue. Loving it. Wish we had cars like that over here in the United States of Kingdom.
Derek, you don't have to drop the tank to get the sender out on most c3 corvettes. You can take the fuel door off, pull the rubber surround out, then unbolt the sender and pull it through the fuel door hole. 78 can be a little puzzle, but once you get it just right, it will come out. Just for future reference since you got lucky on this car. It's 75-77 you have to drop the tank because gm used an oval shape tank unit. 68-74 came up from the bottom of the tank. 78-82 you can sneak out from the top. Also, the fuel pump can be done from underneath without pulling the a/c comp and brackets. Use a long extension with swivels and come in through the fender. Just some tricks I've learned over the past 13 years working on corvettes daily at my job.
Agree on all the above. Not necessary to remove all he did for spark plugs either. I attack those from top, bottom and through the fender with swivel spark plug socket. Also on the fuel pump, small block chevy has provided bolt hole on front of block to hold up the push rod once the cam lobe is at BTC. Remove the short bolt and I use one of the attaching bolts temporarily mounting the pump with one bolt to start with. Don't forget to put the short bolt back in or you'll have an oil leak. Glad GM thought of that when they designed the small block. I'm a retired GM tech with 40 years in the trade. - LOTS of Corvettes, Still work on those. Great video! Thanks Derek!
It’s crazy though that a person that doesn’t know the tricks and secrets still manages to get it done, prime example folks we can all do it, let’s get are projects done this weekend 🙌💪
I wonder how many countless hours you’ll save people who will read this and potentially one day utilize this knowledge. I don’t often get rigs this old at my job but when I do believe it or not I’ve remembered things from these videos thatve really saved my ass
@@JohnDoes620 Samr here, that's why I thought I'd share the little tid bit of information I know to help others. I'll tell you he sure isn't kidding when he said those tanks are a pain to pull.
@@trocheadventures I have a 2003 2 wheel drive S-10 with a massive oil leak that's been driving me nuts, only 98,000 miles on the 4.3 Vortec. Watched many YT videos, but they don't have my leak. I've replaced the valve cover gaskets, intake gasket, O ring on distributor, oil sensor, it is up top rear of engine. At least I got it down to 1 quart oil loss in 5 miles of driving from 3 quarts in 5 miles. Would be a great project for Derek.
I like how thoughtful you always are towards the garage/barn owners of the vehicles. Sweeping up, applying cat litter (StaDry), and all the other extra caution you take being respectful. Honestly, that says a lot about the type of person you are.
MY 1978 SITS IN THE GARAGE COVERED IN DUST JUST LIKE THIS PROJECT. IT WAS MY FIRST NEW CAR WHEN I WAS 21 YEARS OLD. I USED ALL THE MONEY I HAD SAVED SINCE AN INFANT. IT WAS MY DAILY DRIVER UNTILL I PARKED IT AND IT HAS NOT MOVED IN 30 YEARS. YOU HAVE GIVEN ME SOME IDEAS TO GET IT BACK ON THE ROAD BUT BEING 67YOA NOW IS HOLDING ME BACK.. THANKS FOR THE GREAT VIDEO...I KNOW IT CAN BE BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE.
We have a similar story. I to bought my first new car at 22 years old and it was a 78 SA. A L82 4 speed with everything in it. Sold it in 81 just before I got married. Always wondered what happened to it. Maybe it ended up in abandoned barn like this. Sure brought back memories.
Hey man I'd love to come help gettin er going but I'm all the way in Oilberta Canada and in the end, as a heavy-duty apprentice at 16, I wouldn't have time lol Maybe see if anyone young like 15-18 who likes old cars would like to get er going with ya, you know like a helping hand on things, teaching them about the car, who knows it might even spark new interest in old cars for that person to. But what do I know right?
I'm 15 My grandfather recently passed away One of the things you left me was a 1968 Chevy Corvette That's been off the road since 1972 when he crashed it he bought all the parts he needed to put it back together he just never did and sat in a garage ever since there's no serious rust on it or anything so I hope to get her back on the road thanks for inspiring me to work on older cars like my grandfather's Corvette. He used to be a pretty prominent street racer in the area
young fella sorry to hear of grandads passing, its a hard thing, thats a wonderful that youve got something to remember him by.. i loved my grandad deeply and lost him young, he was only 64 and i was 12. miss him so much. i think its great youve got an amazing project to carry on. good luck i hope it works well!
@@C4_Corvette_man its a slim chance vut check along the bumpers and wheelwells for a "hide-a-key" they were lil black metal tins that slid closed and that had a magnet. very popular for hiding spares back in the day, again slim chance but hey, free to look. google the term to give you a good eyeball for what your looking at. if thats a bust your going to have to call a locksmith to unlock the car and re-key the ignition. its not cheap but its not holly hell expensive either, just call around.
Always amazed that you make auto repair work look so easy. I took auto shop in high school for 4 years and had a great teacher. He always said he didn’t want to make us into mechanics but at least we should know if we took it to a shop and the mechanic said the muffler bearings are going out, find a new mechanic. I can’t get enough of your channel. Looking forward to seeing you in Tucson at the Duct Tape Drags 2024
I will be honest, you probably wont even read my message. Not many good C3s left anymore that have not been Molested. Please restore that car. It is more than worth it. What a great Vette. Thank you for bringing me along. I really miss mine.
Thanks bro, i’m not a mechanic but I am in the middle of bringing my 1978 GMC C35 454 back on the road after sitting mostly indoors or covered for 30 years because it wasn’t Smog legal. The way you explain things in detail and some of your hilarious terminology really helps people like me to be able to fix their own cars better than anyone else would do it thanks again. God’s blessings for you and yours.
We are so grateful for you Derrick, Jessica, and the family. Please remember to take plenty of time with your family. We'll still be here for you! You've helped so many people. More than you know😊
Years ago I learned a valuable lesson. I bought a case of Johny Walker and Cola cans and after my first one, I had trouble breathing. I drove myself to the hospital and collapsed at the front doors. They gave me a shot of Adrenalin and got my breathing under control. It turns out that the cans had mouse wee on them that I couldn't taste and the box showed no sign of mice. I have never drank out of a can that I haven't washed ever again because I ended up back in the hospital unresponsive and close to death. I thought a warning would be a good idea at this point. Stay well. From Australia.
I have always wanted a corvette like this. It has always been my favorite car since I was a kid. I had a couple different hotwheels of this and other toys, and posters all over the wall when I was a kid. There's just something about the way it looks. It's hard to describe. I just love how it looks. The front wheel wells bumping up a bit really gave it a unique look compared to so many other cars. Everytime I see one I just love it. Absolutely beautiful machine. Corvette Stingray and this. Just wow. It's just too bad that it's out of my price range. Can't justify the money for it. Thank you for the video. I've enjoyed watching many over the years. Always an enjoyable few hours.
Wow what a video. I am a 77 year old great grandma whose daddy was a "shade tree mechanic". Actually he had a garage and welding shop that he worked in part time. Watching you work on that car brought back so many memories. You have to love a car that can actually be worked on without having to hook it up to a computer. Thank you.
Please don't ever stop doing this. I love this type of show where you explain how the pump rod connects to the cam. Of all the old "sunday" mechanic shows they use to have on tv that died because they started getting too commercial. This is for sure the best shadetree, twoguys, trucks and so on show on the planet. Thanks for letting me hang out and learn a thing or two.
The burnout car? I remember him putting a supercharger on it. Did he ratchet strap the motor in?😂 drove it home in the snow, originally. I'm from the rocky days myself. '69 chevelle
@nathanbopp6163 Yeah it was the deliver it in a blizzard episode. I'll never get over the duct tape to keep the ice from hitting him in the face, then removed it because of the annoying sound. Classic.
@Macroproxy the man's a national treasure, IMHO. I worry about these farm boys working themselves to death, but if you never slow down, you never grow old. I hope all is well, and one day your vette gets the chance to run the quarter mile
Your videos have the ability to relax people, so much so, that they don't even realize 2 hours and 48 min. have gone by. Almost 3 hours went by and it felt like 30 min. That just shows the quality of your content. Thanks for all your hard work, Derek and Jessica. So close to 2 million!
I have no idea how you put together such great (extended) content like this over and over again. The amount of edit work alone (aside from the actual task of getting the car back on the road) is staggering. I can't even imagine how much work it is just to find a project/location/support system to piece together a long video like this is...but I sure appreciate it. Personally, I enjoy the road trip part of it the most! The breakdowns/worries/victories to get her home is always the icing on the cake.
This is a top 2 episode. Should be eligible for an Oscar for best comedy documentary series. But at this point Derek doesn’t need a stupid trophy to recognize his brand. It speaks for itself!
I love hearing all his inner thoughts. I've said the same thing to myself so many times over the years, but usually some more cussing involved. His "Help me understand!!" doesn't usually come out like that in my garage! 🤣
I found you like a month ago because i just bought an old rust bucket C3 and been trying to ejamacate myself on the thing. Your knowledge, positive attitude, and problem solving skills is something that most of the world lacks in a big way. I guess we can thank god for a feller like you. You have made the anxiety of a restoration project into a creative and productive exertion of my time.
Derek I have to say how much I admire your work ethic. My son and I met you in Nashville on the Power Tour, I asked what you did prior to VGG and you were gracious enough to tell me. I can truly understand how rescuing these old cars, trucks, tractors, boats, etc. would be so much more rewarding but brother you really put in the work to do it. As time has passed I can see how your filming and editing skills have improved but your conversational banter with the audience (one sided though it may be) is what puts you a cut above most of the channels out there. Your humor is contagious and I mean that in the best way possible. To the rest of us home mechanics you are very relatable. I am watching you do things that would frustrate me to no end ( I hate brakes and dropping gas tanks as well) many times with just the basic hand tools and you do it without throwing things or hurling profanities. I can allow my grandchildren to watch your videos and not worry about them picking up something I'd rather they didn't. That's golden these days! You invite us along on the journey with you and I swear I can smell the tranny fluid on exhaust, that sweet smell of spewing antifreeze, and who can't relate to the motel clerk as they wrinkle their nose at greasy clothes and the smell of soaked in gasoline the minute you hit the door. I don't know how you mange all the logistics and the schedule you keep but you better believe we appreciate you and the way you involve your family. We also like you Lodge channel as well. Keep up the good work but also, take a non-working vacation once in a while as well. Even rock stars have days they wish they were doing something else! We love you Brother and God bless you and your wonderful family.
I agree. I’m a female in my 60’s and love finding a channel with someone with an ACTUAL talent, interesting, and NO filthy profanity. It proves it’s not necessary.
Derrick I’ve been watching you for over a year and a half now and I got to say man you make my day 10x better every time I open my phone to find you posted a new video. Thanks man I love your videos
Nice job! My 82 collectors edition has 13,362 miles. My mom bought it new in 82 I start it up amd replace the brake system every 4 years. We lost mom in 97. Car still smells new when you open the door. No, she didn’t drive it much, but smiled every time she did!
Video is so long I had to put the phone down and go to sleep last night lol. Woke up this morning ready to watch the last 45 minutes. It’s amazing how this guy can keep us so invested for so long.
My niece’s husband inherited a red convertible one from his father. At a recent family gathering I carried my 3 year old granddaughter over to the car. She immediately said “I like this car. Papa will you buy one?”
@@a.n.7863 I've been lucky enough to own one. My Dad currently owns two of them. There is nothing like them. Not comfortable, not especially fast, and not especially "good." But the sum is totally more than the sum of the parts, if you know what I mean. Your granddaughter has exquisite taste!
@visegripgarage a trick Ive used to "bottle feed" a carb is drill a small hole in a spray can top fill it half way with fuel and after you get it started place the calibrated leak on top of the carb to keep it running
I'm sorry, but I got to be selfish and say I really enjoy the 2+ hour episodes. It sure beats the hell out of all the bullsnot happening in the world. Thank you Derek.
Derek this one deserves a full restauration. I know this isn't the purpose of the channel but i feel that this is the correct way to go on this car. Good health to yourself and your family!
Derek, I absolutely love LOVE your video's, you are a very talented mechanic with a rare "Happy Go Lucky" attitude, in my humble opinion the Corvette is the most stunning car ever mass produced and you live in the most opportunistic "barn find" classic car country in the world, I would give BOTH my NUTS to be you and own that car STUNNING CAR right now, Kind regards Craig Napoli from the Land Downunder.
@@ItsMeeJon spot on - also the paint is an indicator of something happening in the past. I saw GM paint go bad but not like this. If it were given to me with the instruction to do anything with it, I'd go for an everyday car which does everything right - kinda like a pro-touring car but not extreme.
Love being able to see this first. Thanks for sneaking a membership video out we appreciate everything you do man!!! Still don't know how you do it how you work 7 days a week 24 hours a day and still have time to put a membership video out along with your normal videos we appreciate everything you do keep the great job up Derek we love supporting you!!!
this is type of things i wish i got to learn from my dad, he ended up in prison when i was 5 and here i am 25 and still learning cars by my self the men i work with and videos like this. learning something every video thank you derek
If you own a C3 with an L-48 emblem, it's important that you know that it isn’t a factory emblem. For over 40 years, my family owned a Corvette-exclusive dealership, a full-service repair shop, a body shop, and a parts and accessories store just for Corvettes. The emblem is one of the items we manufactured, and we distributed thousands of them across the country. The widespread distribution and quality have led people to believe that these emblems were factory-produced. You can tell by our company name being imprinted on the back of the emblem.
I’m pretty sure he said from the beginning he wasn’t interested In hearing everyone’s thoughts and opinions about this and that corvette related. He’s not an enthusiast like you. He’s trying to make a video interesting to all his followers, not get wrapped up in the specifics that obsessive people like yourself waste your life worrying about. Just watch a will it run video or go wipe the dust off your corvette you worry more about than your children
@@Yagetwhatyavoted4 Wow, what got your panties in a wad, did your mommy tell you that you’ve got to move out of the garage after 50 years so she can park her Corvette in it? I bet it’s because your wife left you for a real man with a Corvette. Or is it that you can’t afford a Corvette, so you attack others? I’ve got it, you’ve got no friends because you’re an a** hole, so you lash out at others. Let me know when I’m getting close. First, It wasn’t even addressed to him or you, so if you don’t like it don’t read it, no one cares what your opinion is. Second, I wrote it for all the people who have C3s in the comments, that’s why 67 people can relate to it so far. And third, you really need to learn how to relax, you’re going to cause yourself a stroke at your age.
What a sweet old Vette. Freta is hopefully happy with seeing her car back on the road. I think clean up the interior so it’s safe for the little humans and get the AC back together and working. It would be nice to see her shine again with some factory paint colors. Enjoy the sweet old ride. Thanks so much for the videos, Derek. Was nice to see the little helper bring you out some pizza and have a chat. That’s why you’re my favorite TH-cam guy, you’re just a great guy.
My grandpa was a GM mechanic for 30 years. When they poured their concrete driveway at his house, they wrote Corvette across it before it dried. Still there to this day. He always had corvette emblems and hats and things in the garage. Lots of great memories. Thanks, Derek
I don’t watch anything on the big TV screen besides Visegrip garage, just mirror up and 3 hours or awesomeness! I love the recuses and drive 1000+ miles! Derek is definitely one funny cat too😂 has a man rolling with laughs
Derek, I believe you mixed 2 coolant types together that shouldn’t be mixed (green standard glycol and orange zerex). Those will react negatively with each other and gel up wreaking havoc on the entire cooling system and passages!
When Derrick opens the driver's door and you see the look on his face when the smell hits him, I haven't laughed like that in awhile. Bless you Derrick for providing an old car guy with quality entertainment.
Derek, you almost made me cry when you said that you have owned about 2 dozen C3s....I'm pushing 70 and have always wanted one but life and money just kept getting in the way. Love your video's and those of Little Grip too.
I don't know how the vice grip garage faithful got so lucky but every time I see a video that's over 2 hours long or even an hour and a half for that matter. I get so happy it's the best thing on my Fridays
Hey Derek. A guy wants to sincerely thank you for all your hard work filming, editing, and traveling for these videos for us. It truly is a pleasure to watch your content on Saturday mornings. It makes the weekend for me. Sincerely, thank you Derek, Jessica, and the boys. (LGG is great too!) I look forward to what’s to come for you and your family. :)
@@ViceGripGarage I don’t believe it… but I guess I got too I’m looking right at it. A feller responds too! You’re very welcome, and congrats on 2 million subs. 💪

You always make light of the work you do and goof around but I can say you know your stuff. You have taught me a whole lot since I started watching your show and I have always worked on everything myself and im 37. You have made me a better mechanic and restorer thanks for passing on the knowledge!
As a guy from east europe. It’s early saturdays mornings when Vice Grip Garage uploads new videos. And I ain’t kidding those mornings are the best! A cup of coffee and a few calm hours of barn finds! Love it! Keep doing what you doing buddy!
Derek, I remember that car very well, my friend had one! You're sense of humor cracking me up, when you said about the flying wasps and the CB radio! Always enjoy you're Channel 🎉🎉🎉🎉
With over 685,000 views in one day I'm happy to see your channel is doing well. You sir are one of the rare treasures on the tubes. God Bless you and your family and thank you so much for all your hard work in providing us all with this great entertainment. Hope you're having a great day!
I had an 82 Collector’s Edition, last year of the C3s. Chevy used every stray nut, bolt and part they had laying around. Not much quality control happening in that factory. Still enjoyed the car.
The fact that the videos are long speaks volumes on the amount of work these revivals take to get back on the road. Much respect great content as always
As a guy who’s always working out in the southern heat, I can appreciate a feller hunched over a Corvette’s fender hours on end for our entertainment. Thanks for another good one Derek🫡
She's gorgeous just the way she is! Part of me says bring her back to her former glory and part of me says leave her alone, just love on her and appreciate what your friend sold you. I love it!
Brilliant!! As a 70's child always had a soft spot for the C3, such a unique and iconic shape. For it to drive that well and without any issues the entire way home after sitting for so many years is remarkable, for sure that car wants to live!
What I love about your videos aside from the dry comedy and education, is the fact that you can make long videos stay interesting, and you do it without cussing and acting crazy. Just good old fashioned work and teaching us some valuable tricks and tips along the way.
I was born in 68. In high school this was a dream car for every guy who liked cars. We all wanted a Vette, t-tops, and a cassette deck. My humble opinion is get the little stuff fixed, deep clean the interior, and leave the rest alone. This car just looks the part. Its not shiny, but it is so cool!!!! I actually had to watch this one over a few days, but looked forward to it every day. I don't watch TV much anymore, but VGG, heck yeah. I even go back and watch some twice. I've said it before Derek, you are an inspiration to guys like me. What you do has my car running, driving , and being worked on all the time. So, thank you to your family for allowing us to borrow you so often. Now, go fishing please. Take a break and get some rest.
I love older cars but I wish they weren't so expensive to buy. I've been looking at 70s corvettes but everybody wants so much for them. I'll find the right one, one day. Thanks for saving these awesome cars, & educating & entertaining everybody while you do it.
I can feel your feeling of dread before starting a job, depressed at the state of that automobile, forcing a little song and a joke ... but your joy begins to blossom as you hyper-focus through the dance of the sockets, each one a win, bolstering you along one by one. We can hear it in your voice lifting and relaxing, zen consciousness, in the flow . You really love being in that engine, it reminds us garage heroes why we do it and those special times. Thank you so much for continuing with each two hours extended real pleasure we all share with you. Bless u man.
my favorite was the "no leaks!" in the car wash meanwhile there's water shooting in through the rear glass on the passenger side lolol. great episode as always!!!
I agree with everybody saying that this car deserves a full restoration. Absolutely yes, the low miles it has for it's year is just something you don't see every day. Thanks Derek for sharing the experience with all of your fellas and felettes, we all appreciate it!
I'm a fan living here in Cancún, México. Today a customer walked into my place of work wearing a VGG hat! Super cool people! You've said it many times but the car community is the greatest. We had a lot of fun talking about your videos. Best channel on the interwebs! Cheers from south of the border!!!
Thanks so much for the content. I’ve had to work evenings and weekends for the last few months under a tonne of pressure and your long format, chilled AF vids are pure therapy. Don’t change a thing. Don’t make it more “professional”. And above all, don’t burn yourself out thinking you have to have a new vid every 3 days - yeah we WANT a new vid every 3 days but we love you too much to see you suffer! Chris from the U.K. (but I still got a 79 T/A WS6 project car in the workshop)
I can't sit and watch a movie for an hour and half but I have no problem watching VGG for 3 hrs straight, and great to see over a million views!!! on this rig in one day!!!!
Hellyeah awesome content for an hour, it's good to see you guys out having fun again! I miss my sxsblog videos that used to come like every week and I'd make sure I never missed one of them... but like others here are saying if it's an hour long video like once a month, I'm down with that, but it's hard to be patient LMAO!
This is a awesome looking car when she’s shined up the colors pop off I was 17 in 82 and fortunate enough to get to drive one red interior mint! I know it’s not your thing but give her some love!
Saw a couple of your Videos, and it always amazes me when you can bring this forgotten treasures from the past back to life! It's like a miracleous heart surgery on a patient that has been in a coma for 40 years. Man, i swear to god, if i would life near you i'd come there and clean this baby until it shines again for free, just for having some fun and good memories. The Corvette's of this late 70's early 80's even with their relatively smaller engines and horsepower count will always have a special place in my heart. The Engineering behing all of this complex but still simple technology in comparison to later models is just that, simple but brilliant and i wonder if an Engineer even put a thought into the possibility that someone could just shut the engine down one day and then, almost 40 years later comes a beautiful, technically very skilled, highly intelligent Sasquatch with his magic power and breathes new life into this beautiful Car! 🤗
Derek, I will spend hours and hours today cutting together a 5 minute video for our church. The fact that you regularly share amazing multi-hour content probably means two things: 1.) A feller is way better at it than me, and 2.) a feller spends a crazy amount of time doing it! Thank you so much for bringing the best content to YT. Can't tell you the number of times I have extended bedtime because there was a blue dot next to one of the VGG channels - they are all great!
What a great episode. I have a '76 C3 L48 auto and air 62k miles. I've put 2k miles on it in 10 years. Stored indoors and bring it out in the Summer. I always enjoy your shows, keep up the great work!
You are a shining example of how to be a great person. Wish more of us had your sense of generosity and gratitude. Thank you to the Bieri family for all you do!
Thanks for sharing. When I was growing up in the early 1980s in Detroit, our neighbor had just retired from GM and was super proud of his contributions to the Corvette program. He was an engineer but always appreciated the challenge of fitting parts into the designers vision because he loved them, too. This era of car was designed built and engineered by and large by people born in the 1910s and 20s. My neighbor Mr. Griffin was born in 1917! Really cool to think about.
This really is better than anything on TV. To put together almost 3 hours of high-quality content like this must take an insane amount of editing and behind the scenes work. Thanks for always pumping out amazing content! We appreciate it a lot dude!

Keep it up!

Restore it and give it to your wife for anniversary or something
Just spent the last just under 3 hours watching a guy bring an old Corvette back to life.
Can’t think of a better way to kill a Sunday afternoon.
Thanks Derek.

C3 Corvette is what brought me to this channel. My favorite.

As a mechanic that started in the early 80’s I appreciate your videos. Brings back a lot of memories.
Your videos have the ability to relax people, so much so, that they don't even realize 2 hours and 48 min. have gone by. Almost 3 hours went by and it felt like 30 min. That just shows the quality of your content. Thanks for all your hard work, Derek and Jessica. So close to 2 million!
Just hit 2 million!
Thanks so much for recognizing it!!!
This is a top 2 episode. Should be eligible for an Oscar for best comedy documentary series. But at this point Derek doesn’t need a stupid trophy to recognize his brand. It speaks for itself!
He gets to drive & show all at the same time! Not to many get to do that! That a Trophy

200k+ views and only 20k likes.....come on people hit the like button....Derek is one heck of a nice person to be putting his life on youtube for us to be a part of it Thanks Derek you are the G.O.A.T.
You always make light of the work you do and goof around but I can say you know your stuff. You have taught me a whole lot since I started watching your show and I have always worked on everything myself and im 37. You have made me a better mechanic and restorer thanks for passing on the knowledge!
"No leaks!" as the rear window leaks in the carwash... Gotta love it!
What 😢
As a guy from east europe. It’s early saturdays mornings when Vice Grip Garage uploads new videos. And I ain’t kidding those mornings are the best! A cup of coffee and a few calm hours of barn finds! Love it! Keep doing what you doing buddy!
The best present a feller gets all week is almost 3 hours of VGG goodness! You are the best Derek.. hands down!
Derek, I remember that car very well, my friend had one! You're sense of humor cracking me up, when you said about the flying wasps and the CB radio! Always enjoy you're Channel 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Soooo close to 2 million subscribers. If anybody deserves it, its this guy and his family!
With over 685,000 views in one day I'm happy to see your channel is doing well. You sir are one of the rare treasures on the tubes. God Bless you and your family and thank you so much for all your hard work in providing us all with this great entertainment. Hope you're having a great day!
This thing cleaned up NICELY! I know it's a little uncharacteristic, but I'd absolutely love to see this car fully restored!
I love it!
he said he owns like 50 of these and prolly its going to sit on his back yard while he drives the random ford truck as a daly driver lol
A Feller might be the one person on TH-cam who says, "Barn Find," and i believe 'em. Thank you for all the hard work and entertainment Derek!
Thanks!
Also, I'd just flip it. You have too many neater-er projects you could get back to.

Thanks Derek for sharing the experience with all of your fellas and felettes, we all appreciate it!
meh
Love these videos that say Been sitting 125 years then they do some general repair and make it look like it was a major deal 😊
2 million+ subscribers. Now there's a notable achievement that doesn't happen every day. You gotta be doing something right to hit that - well done!
I haven't ever seen a GM citizen band radio.
Much love and blessings to all ❤️
Stay safe everyone 🤘😎
This is a awesome looking car when she’s shined up the colors pop off I was 17 in 82 and fortunate enough to get to drive one red interior mint! I know it’s not your thing but give her some love!
Sell it to someone that has the interest to keep improving it
Saw a couple of your Videos, and it always amazes me when you can bring this forgotten treasures from the past back to life! 🤗
I watch this all day at work. My 18 month old daughter loves watching it with me.
I inherited my dad's 68 Corvette in 2020. I've been working on it and hopefully tomorrow it'll make it to my local car show 🤞Keep up the great work!
Production quality is through the roof with this one. Can't believe how far this channel has come over time. Always a great watch.
You are a shining example of how to be a great person. Wish more of us had your sense of generosity and gratitude. Thank you to the Bieri family for all you do!
Dude..The Absolutely Best two hours and forty seven minutes of youtube I have ever watched !!!!!! 👍👍
Wow,thank you!!
@ViceGripGarage No thank you Sir.
I set here and enjoy every minute of you wrenching on it and bring it back to life. Loved watching it.
