Let me be brutally honest. Been around a lot of years. This country is rapidly losing our middle class. We have rich and poor. All of the new cars and trucks are being made and sold to the rich. Proof. Folks buying new p/u's now have 800-1,000 dollar plus monthly car payments for 6-7 years. They aren't middle class, they are poor. Car and truck makers have made their decisions and they should hang a sign at the dealerships "No one enters that cannot prove a salary of 100,000 dollars a year." (even at that salary you can only realistically but a mid ranged price car. Most of us are buying used.

People like me that actually use their Toyota for overlanding and enjoy daily driving in them don’t care what power plant it has as long as it’s reliable and gets *decent* mpg.
Most Toyota boomers are terrified of the possibility of any slight inconvenience that would make them open their hood and do a little bit of wrenching and that’s a problem.

  • @ShenmueAtheist
    @ShenmueAtheist 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +24

Anyone who doesn't get a 5th gen 4Runner before they're gone is going to regret it. A turbo 4cyl hybrid will never be as reliable as an NA V6, especially the one in the 5th gens. That engine has been proven for decades to be one of the most reliable engines ever made. I can only imagine most 5th gen owners will see their trucks go up in value over the next few years, especially if you were able to get a higher trim level 23 or 24.

This ^^. Especially the comment about the stolen space with the hump up in the back because of the battery. As a camper, I am concerned about these hybrid configurations that compromise the cargo (sleeping & sit up) area. I'm not so much bothered by cloth seats as they could be a little bit more interesting looking, higher end befitting the lofty price tag. Had a 91 Celica GTS with the most fabulous cloth seats ever..... talk about quality, sort of a subtly two tone (bt same color) interior - knit fabric on the seat bolsters that looked/felt a lot like wool but I'm sure it was a high-quality nylon blend, and a thin wale, ultra classy corduroy for the inserts. Haven't seen the like since. Something like that! That and more soft touch surfaces instead of the cheap plastic would do nothing to diminish ruggedness or reliability. A regular, non-pano opening (old school in roof cartridge) sunroof as an option would top it all off.

I like to import a 98 Prado. I've driven them when in the Fiji Islands. Look for one with the 3 liter diesel. Or maybe finding an older GX 470 and lift it up. My concern is if you get the battery in the 4R, you lose so much floor to ceiling height given how it kinda looks lower? Makes me hesitate when considering the hybrid in 4R. Don’t think bigger dog kennels will fit in the new 4R height-wise with the hybrid moving the floor up 4-5 inches. Seems ok for the Land Cruiser with a higher interior height. Thoughts?

No to lack of robust look
    No to small engine turbo
    Sure someone will buy them
Reminds me of a Ford Bronco, the sport little one
Just not feeling vibbing lovin' it
    NA 4 / 6 / 8 way to go for now
Maybe 2030 - 2040 small engine turbos will be
    Quality refined worth the price

What???? I hope it’s the Underground….Im toying with the idea of buying a 4RNR TRD Pro in Underground headed to my local dealer next month. I’ll have to pry my wife’s hands off her Mazda CX-5’s steering wheel. She loves her Mazda.

The Land Cruiser! Made in Japan, Full-time 4WD!, 465 lb./ft of torque! Yeah the weird powertrain isn’t ideal, but this thing is kinda cool in my book. I don’t care if the power is made by fairy farts; I’ll take these #s and have fun with it! I LOVE your videos! Stay awesome (and honest)!

We loved the cloth seats when we saw it, very tweedy. We loved the spartaness of this one. I blew us away more than the GX did. The GX seemed very un-Lexus but this one seemed sooo Toyota Land Cruiser of old. I think no question if I was given the choice between the the LC and 4 Runner I would go LC and I have liked and owned 4 Runners. Currently I'm driving a GX 460 and can't quite give up the V8 yet.

We all know he will not buy the new land Cruiser. It looks cool but the turbo hybrid engine is once again a big big big mistake by Toyota…again……and again. Toyota. Needs to fire the CEO and board members because people are pissed and leaving the brand….me included. Old Toyota’s are great by the way. Do better Toyota.

Round headlights all the way!! The rectangular ones--as configured on the LC--look way too "digital age," on a vehicle that is supposed to invoke a more retro-rugged theme. I'm probably in the minority but I don't like the FJ-inspired mirror proportions. My main gripe is the hump up in the back cargo area because of the hybrid configuration / battery, compromising the utility and versatility of that space especially as a camper.

  • @silverrunner8687

Solid buy for longevity, long term ownership, value and reliability would be the 4R, we all know that at this point. Views for the channel would be the LC... and since your able to change cars and upgrade to new vehicles often, cost isn't an issue, maybe it's the LC this time.

It looks cool but I don’t like the turbo engine idea . Land cruisers need natural asp v-8’s that’s the only thing missing from the vehicle. I’d get a rav4 or a 4Runner with that money but then I’d save it cause Toyota as a company who considers there customers and its prices are garbage now , really sad
