Natural menopause at age 45. It's been pure hell! Through it I now have hypothyroidism and adrenal fatigue. My life completely changed. My body completely changed. I am 55 now and hot flashes are beginning to fade. Weight has only increased. Even after doing strict keto for 1 year and only losing 34 lbs. I miss my thin self. My energetic self. My positive self. I still practice low carb keto but I don't lose weight. My body hurts the longer I stand, with abdomen swelling that is so unbearable. My beloved activities have taken a nosedive. Thanks for the info Dr. Berg, it's always appreciated. 🌿🕊️💕
You should do weight resistant exercise or weight lifting. Cut back on cardio and try intermittent fasting. See if that helps with your weight loss. January I was 151lb. Now I am 133lb. I am 54. Most people or myself did not see me as overweight but the BMI had me overweight by a pound so I figured I could lose a pound and ended up losing 20lb so far.
I Thank “GOD” that I didn’t know or feel the effects of menopause, I think I was going through some things in my life, that I missed the experience of it! I kind of laugh at myself when I think about how I missed out on it, but not really because when I hear and see about other Women experience of menopause I feel sorry and sympathize for how hard it is for them and the symptoms that they experience. May “GOD” Bless All Women, With Continuing Faith, Strength And Peace To Endure!!!
Thank you for your empathy. It has affected my marriage, my job, my friendships and I don’t feel like myself. Anxiety is never ending and little things you wouldn’t even think are an issue such as insulin like he mentioned, among many other things. It’s sad. I would give a ton to have my old days/nights back again to where menopause wasn’t something I thought about every single day. It’s such a challenge because it affects both your brain as well as your body
I don’t believe you. My sister said the same thing. No so-called symptoms and literally breezed through it. Wrong. Ask your loved ones. They may have a different account of your experience.

Im nothing like I used to be This has been a nightmare I want my old self back and dont know how to get there.... Help
Look up the link between hot flashes and diabetes, it turns out that hot flashes are potentially hypoglycaemic attacks in many women, basically your blood sugar is crashing (especially at night) so ditching the sugar, regulating your insulin levels, stops the hot flashes. It worked for me too!
Remember when hormones kicked in as a teen? Well, in my non-medical perspective, menopause is the reverse of that, the dying out of the hormones. Unfortunately, they don't die quietly, but go out kicking and screaming.
I've been eating healthy for 25yrs and I'm almost 55 and I've no symtoms of any menopause this was my aim to prove that healthy diet is the answer oh and no doctors medication either ..
Thanks for sharing this. I don't really have a healthy diet but I'm still gonna give it a try and see.....I'm just entering into this phase ☹️.....but no doubt a healthy lifestyle is key to a healthy body

I lived keto after both my kids to help me stay thin and keep up with being a single mom...my life was so stressful but I endured. Then menopause and my daughter in addiction (she is recovered and sober now), dog dying and several other things at one time hit me. My stomach hurt all the time, bathroom trips up drastically and I just gained weight ate whatever and now at 53 keto isnt working, I feel 85 and I am exhausted, have belly fat and just so frustrated this menopause is a curse. Hot flashes, sleep distruption, body pain...I get very depressed I dont even recognize myself in anyway anymore.
I hear that loud and clear. It’s the most unpleasant daily obstacle I face every day even on HRT. Who is this person? Not the old me I knew for the majority of my life, I’m grieving that person.
Yes since menopause my energy level has gone out the window. I joined my recreation center to walk in the winter months, but getting myself to get out and do it UGH🙁 God Bless You and Your Family Dr. Berg FOREVER AMEN🙇♀️✝️🙏 Keep up the Great Work you do🌟
Super heavy periods before, stress of worring about pregnancy at 52, then stress of divorce... oh, how I wish I would have had your videos at the time. 62 now and working hard to make healthy choices.

Your story sounds almost identical to mine I am 6 years out her2 pos and am in post menapause at 51 thankful but these new symptoms are throwimg me off a bit
The effects of menstruatation and menopause can be pretty much avoided with a healthy diet full of vegetables and greens/supplements and exercise- preferably with weights...meditation and self care go a long way as well. Also very good boundaries dealing with toxic individuals. Women need to take care of themselves over 40- it’s imperative to our health and mood.
I've been on high dose bioidentical progesterone cream for many years. Honestly, a life saving cream! It was within a few days that I felt relief from a lot of these symptoms..I'm 48. Been on it since 40. WHEN i decided to quit do to "fear mongering" bad info. I relapsed. I will not stop it. I feel amazing on it. Thank you again, Dr. Berg for the factual info. So grateful for your work. :)
I wish I had started the natural progesterone cream earlier. I do it the way Dr John Lee suggests. If you think about it, the body is used to having huge influxes for long periods of time of progesterone by way of the corpus luteum...
Dr Berg I'm 51 and Im from Cape town South Africa.i gained 20kilos in less than a yr. I thanked God for you.for all your wonderful advice and your videos. You are awesome. Thank you thank you thank you
I went on keto in Oct of 2018 and 8 months after I did I quit having periods and went into full menopause. I lost 45 pounds from keto. I'm feeling ok. Oh I'll be 51 this yr.
It makes sense why so many women suffer because by the time the menopause kicks in their adrenals are worn off and the support is just not there. But lucky there is more and more study now reviewed about the benefits of Bioidentical Hormonal Therapy and the beauty of hormonal supplements.Intermittent fasting and the right diet of the right food is crucial : don't be scared of healthy fats, healthy protein intake and minimum of Carbs intake. Very interesting study, thank yo Dr Berg.
Menopause is where my gut issues began. I have gastritis and was told that I should eat a low-fat diet. I finally asked for a referral to a registered dietitian bc I want to wean off of PPI and feel better now that I’m past menopause.
It’s rare for me to disagree with doctor Berg but on this matter I do. With a lifetime of stress nothing is going to repair the adrenals to a helpful degree and the loss of estrogen has major health consequences. The estrogen is never coming back unless you get it from an external source.
Still too young for this but its great to be informed . I notice on keto my period became better and pain on my right side ovary when away. Now I don't do keto hard core like I used because I enjoy fasting better but I still keep eye on eating fat. I notice that once I started to introduce sweets back again the pain on right side is creeping back again on my period but not at same level it was before. I I truthly believe that keto and fasting have reduced my pain on my right ovary.
You're really never too young for this. Premenopause and Perimenopause can start in your early 30's. The key is maintaining the healthiest balance possible; unfortunately, so many women are on synthetic hormones for a good share of their reproductive lives, in addition to environmental estrogens, etc. Men, including young men, are affected as well.
Have you ever had your ovaries examined by way of ultrasound? I had pain in my gallbladder for years but all tests show that my gallbladder was fine; the pain was actually coming from one of my ovaries and I had a cyst on it. All the medical professionals say that cysts do not cause pain, but mine did... for years and finally it was discovered when I was pregnant with my second child during the ultrasound, only because I was pregnant.
@@ilovenoodles7483 I did and I do have cysts. They are small and only on right side. They told me they were not problem because of size. I don't care what they say I feel pain only that side the right ovary. But it got better with fasting and keto
@@ishtar0077 I have a small cyst on my left ovary and every month I get pain there. It’s always on the left side, the cyst definitely causes pain even though it’s small. They told me the same but it can go away so there’s hope 😌

Thank you for this great video Dr. Berg. I was suffering from dehabilitating hot flashes for months despite taking DIM and other supplements like Vitex to balance my hormones as well as applying bioidentical progesterone cream every night until I found one of your videos about hot flashes and finding out the real problem: weak adrenals. I am being followed by a naturopath who tested my adrenals and my results were normal so she didn't think they were the problem. But as soon as I started taking a supplement to support the adrenals, the hot flashes completely went away (as long as I'm taking them). I can't thank you enough Dr. Berg.
Hello Dr Berg, thanks for sharing. In my early 40's. Am not overweight, am skinny, I eat a lot, but healthy food and do exercises. I haven't slept since over 2 weeks ( also been having heavy stress at work ). I wake up to a pool of sweat 5 to 6 times in the night, I can't sleep or fall asleep, just keep turning left and right until it's morning time. During the day, my body just suddenly heats up and then cools down throughout the day. It's winter time here in Germany. I started taking shower before bed, but it didn't help. I visited the doctor ( did blood test, results isn't out yet ) and she gave me a prescription for Mirtazapin to help me sleep at night. While it helps me sleep, I still wake up to a pool of sweat 2 to 3 times in the night ( instead of 6 times like before ), But am able to fall asleep because of the medication. However, I still end up not sleeping through out the night. I wake up tired and my eyes hurt. My heart goes out to other women experiencing the same circle. It's depressing.
@@doroth215 as we all know women have tons of hormonal stuff going on during their lifetime which affects many things from mood swings to sexual desires, you name it
@Spicy Artisan Hipster Salami with the hormone replacement, are you able to sleep throughout the night without having night sweats or hot flashes? Or you don't experience those?
When I went through that years ago, I was determined to not make a big deal about it and just accept it as a Natural course by the body as it adjusts and not fight it. I had hot flushes on and off, for up to two years but I just ignored it all, and suddenly it was gone.

I spent most of my life as a vegan, and slowly edged into menopause in my 60's. I had no mood swings, hot flashes, dryness and recently did a master's degree (good for keeping the mind sharp). Some women manage to get pregnant during menstruation. My nurse friend who help doctors during delivery recently told that she had a patient 49 year old who was going through delivery. Very timely! Thank you, Dr. Berg! I used the wild yam topical progesterone cream (Emeritus brand) when I was going through menopause, and it really helped me. Prior to using it I felt PMS symptoms all month long. It was miserable. Now that I’m post Menopause - like 7 to 8 years later, I’m going to start using it again. I’m STILL experiencing hot flashes. I have reduced sugar and carbs, given up alcohol, stay out of the sun. I don’t know what else to do. I will check out your videos on adrenal support and add Vit. E to my daily supplements. Reliable info on menopausal issues is rare, so your video will help quite a few women, I’m sure. Also want to mention that reducing carbs and sugars and therefore extra weight will help reduce incidence of cysts.

FUERITTA Good Morning, I am 42, so I know It’s coming or, I’m in Peri. I had my tubes tied in 2008 after I had twins, and I do believe that after that procedure, I have been experiencing hormonal imbalances. So, I’m always researching! How is your experience, if you don’t mind me asking?
Perimenopause can start in a woman’s 30’s. It can last ten years or more. Mine lasted nine years. I’m 56. Perimenopause is the years leading up to menopause. It’s when your hormones are fluctuating all over the place. I experienced hot flashes, joint pain, heart palpitations, weight gain, etc. Those were the toughest years for me. Menopause is actually only one day. It’s the one year anniversary of having no period. After that one day you are in post menopause until the day you die. So there are three stages: Perimenopause, Menopause (one day), and Post Menopause. In post menopause a woman can still experience some leftovers from perimenopause. I’ll still get the occasional hot flash.
I'd just like to try and help some people reading this... I hadn't had a normal period in many months, until I started taking Selenium (after researching) - please... always do your own research and be guided by professionals. I hope this helps at least one person :)

After 2 months of keto, I not only lost 7 kilo's, but began having periods again! Had two periods in these 2 months! Hot flashes, sluggishness and tiredness and irritability: gone! I didn't expect that!!

Well this is just a sheer coincidence this video came up. Amazing😮 I just basically won the lottery🎉 So far. Negative to cervical cancer. Yes! Going back in 6 months. I knew I was estrogen dominant. Because of Doctor Eric Berg videos. I agree with everything you have said. People are dropping like flies. Cancer is killing so many people here in the country. 6 years. Unhealthy diet. I am a Queenslander. Fish, salad, organic vegetables etc living and eating country food. Bad news. Keto lifestyle as best as possible has turned my life around. I went though menopause out here. Went from size 12 to 20. Unbelievable. Ugly fat. Then last year so sick. I found Doctor Eric Berg and keto. Then bought a device to check blood. Shocker 9.5. Then my small success story started. 10 months later. No depression, sugar levels down, more energy, and bonus lost 10 kilos. And it's stayed off. Back to a healthy Queensland diet. Confession. I did do very 3 in catering operations. Unfortunately I started to bake cakes all types of unhealthy foods. I just wouldn't eat in Queensland. No exercise. I was an outdoor sports person. Cycling, paddling on my ski etc..... Thats how I got into the cancer dangerous zone. Now I do keto as best as possible, love fasting - autophagy, red light therapy machine from Rojo company Australia. And exercise. Doing my best to keep cancer at bay! I will listen to this video about 10 times and study it. Inside out! They should teach us at schools about our body's. Without a doubt. Oh I am inserting estrogen cream for 6 months. 🤞Thank goodness for Doctor Eric Berg
I waited forever to be done with menstruation. The transition wasn't bad; no night sweats & not many bad hot flashes. Six years later I feel totally ripped off with all the other changes. 🤬🤬🤬
I breezed through menstruation... Pregnancies and menopause... It is about listening to your body and making sure you have the right diet... The body is a machine and if we're in sinc with it, it guides us.. The problem is that people think negatively, and with the mind being a very powerful muscle, it can (scientifically proven) to engage with the body. So many people love their negative state of mind and don't help themselves. Acknowledge, accept, address and align. We're here once yet waste so much time on the wave of self deprication, rather than the wave of and self care!!
Dr. Berg’s “Estrogen Balance” is the only thing that took away my hot flashes (all the other products I tried stopped working after about a month). I am not getting paid for this endorsement- wish I was!

No offense Dr. Berg but I have never had female issues. Don’t assume menstrual cycles are bad for all! My period only lasts 2-3 days and I’ve only had cramps about 7 periods in my life. Being vegetarian is probably the reason
DancingPonies 79, perimenopause is the years leading up to menopause. It’s when hormones are fluctuating trying to find their new normal. It can last 10 years and sometimes longer. My perimenopause lasted nine years. After perimenopause is menopause. Menopause is only one day. It is the one year anniversary of having no period. After the one day of menopause, a woman is in post menopause until the day she dies. So there are three stages: Perimenopause, Menopause, and Post Menopause. People get confused and call the whole thing menopause when again, menopause is really only one day. For me perimenopause was the worst. Hot flashes, joint pain, weight gain, heart palpitations, etc.

DancingPonies 79, I totally understand. Those years are the toughest. I was ready too for it to be over with. Hang in there. Soon your hormones will settle down, and they will find their new normal. No disrespect Dr, but most of these start at Perimenopause. I really wish doctors covered this topic more.

@Kim S I was in full menopause at age 39
Im nearly 55 and have only just reached perimenopause. Hopefully I dont get any symptoms so far so good 🤞
Who told you you were in perimenopause? Once you have not had your period in a year then you’re in menopause.
Last year, I went on the ketogenic diet for 6 months. I discovered that when I ate a strict keto diet, my hot flashes disappeared!
Me too !
Look up the link between hot flashes and diabetes, it turns out that hot flashes are potentially hypoglycaemic attacks in many women, basically your blood sugar is crashing (especially at night) so ditching the sugar, regulating your insulin levels, stops the hot flashes. It worked for me too!
Me too
Mine didn't
Ive never had a hot flush but Ive always eaten reasonably well and exercised. Maybe that was the key
Remember when hormones kicked in as a teen? Well, in my non-medical perspective, menopause is the reverse of that, the dying out of the hormones. Unfortunately, they don't die quietly, but go out kicking and screaming.
Amen..

More screaming than kicking 😉

Omg!!!!!! You are my motivation
What HRT? Have you tried Wild Yam cream and Vitamin E? Dr Berg recommended and I read some good reviews.
You can get IBS, too. That's the worst. Imagine the worst, anyway.

Look at dr Louise Newsom. Some great info there with the patches, sprays now. Might help U. Less risky as not absorbed into liver they say.
We barely have time for ourselves with kids, jobs and a household. It’s so unfair.
I've been on high dose bioidentical progesterone cream for many years. Honestly, a life saving cream! It was within a few days that I felt relief from a lot of these symptoms..I'm 48.
YES. Worst stomach upset in my life! Feels like friggin food poisoning. For 2 years.
Can you explain how you fast?
Have you ever had your ovaries examined by way of ultrasound? I had pain in my gallbladder for years but all tests show that my gallbladder was fine; the pain was actually coming from one of my ovaries and I had a cyst on it.
All the medical professionals say that cysts do not cause pain, but mine did... for years and finally it was discovered when I was pregnant with my second child during the ultrasound, only because I was pregnant.
@@ilovenoodles7483
I did and I do have cysts.

Berg.
Can you share the name of the supplement and where you got it? Thanks!
How long will you take the adrenal supplements for?
Dr Berg has great adrenal support pills. When I could afford to buy them, I was using them.

Nell Ethiopia same here my mom started at 38, so did I, and now I'm 54 and I'm still in it...
If it's been 12 months and no period, technically you're post.
As much as I didn't like my cycle. I didn't want to go away. It became part of me.

I'm just over 12 months since my last period. It hasn't been wonderful, but not too bad either. Love that we stopped having to use contraception 🎉. I'm vegetarian but eat lots of eggs and dairy.

No knowledge is useless. It will help you understand women better than your pears, help women in your life even in the simplest of ways; your mum, sisters, friends, future wife and daughter. Consider yourself lucky and blessed. Knowledge is power.
Dr Berg please put hysterectomy on your list of topics to vlog. Especially surgically induced hysterectomies both total where all the reproductive organs are removed and partial where the cervix and at least an ovary are NOT removed. For women in their 40s.
Yes great suggestion
Dr. Berg can you speak on Menopause and Hashimoto. Women going thru menopause and diagnosed with Hashimotos. Thank you
43 and keto over a year. I get multiple cycles per month yet I'm having hot flashes. Nothing I have ever done has made my cycles less painful.
See Barbara Hoffman's channel on TH-cam. Bioidentical Progesterone cream (like Emerita brand) is enormously helpful.
Do you have any advice for a Male going through menopause ?

The beauty of all this is that we have Doc. Eric Berg to break down for us exactly what is happening to our bodies, and inform us about good nutrition and supplements and exercise We need to do to help our bodies. We don't have to suffer like our moms did in the past or be exposed to doctors who were totally insensitive. We have help! ! Beautiful cruciferous vegetables ,
vitamin d, vitamin e etc.
So cheer up, my dear, all is well.
Excellent explanation.
WOW WOW WOW! Did you ever nail all my issues Dr. Berg! Almost didn’t watch this one since I’m four years done with Menopause but my sissy sent me this one to see if I’ve heard of yam cream. Everything rang so true. I thank you so much for these ideas👏🏻👏🏻and laughed at your Time To Party Now! If only!
Thank you for this. I didn't know that I needed to increase my progesterone and I didn't know about vitamin e. I have been doing healthy keto but I somehow gained 2 pounds after losing 3. I got frustrated last night and ate carbs. Maybe getting the yam cream, vitamin e, etc will help me feel better and go back to the keto
I only have the hot flashes and absolutely no patience for anything or anyone!😛😜
Thats low progesterone
Me too, it’s amazing!!
I'm 56. Started pre meno at 50 with the hot flashes...I've survived that but I sure feel like that hair on my face is a job 👎 😬 I have changed food items and do intermittent fasting. Low energy at times but Dr.Berg says Salt may be that culprit... Everything else is good 👍😁 Life is such a Journey 😂😬😥🤗💜🌈💜
I take Maca root and have taken wild yam it helps
5:29 did he say "wild yam cream"? Where will I get those?
Search Amazon or almost any other online retailer, your local health food stores and possibly grocery store..been on the market for years
Dr. Berg or anyone have recommendation on natural vitamin E mix of tocopherals & tocatrinals supplement recommendations?
That is exactly what I want to know!
Thank you SO much for this. Seriously my quality of life is better because of you.
