Only just realised in the past month I’ve been peri menopausal since I was 40 (could set your clock by my periods). I’m now 51 (less regular now) and still having symptoms of all sorts… brain fog, debilitating depression, aches, night sweats … the list goes on… I wouldn’t wish my particular experience on my worst enemy. Hell on earth. 😢 I never knew this was what was going to happen.
OMGoodness I could cry I am currently experiencing so many awful symptoms muscle stiffness and balance problems being the most extreme to the point that I can’t hardly walk and being a hairdresser is proving very difficult to work. It’s resulted in me having to have lots of medical investigations which I am still waiting for results. I feel like I’m going mad a lot of the time but listening to Dr Louise Newson explain the many strange symptoms of menopause it is with great comfort that I’m not alone and i will be able to function normally at some point. Thankyou so much.
I finally had to quit my job bc of my horrible menopausal symptoms. I’m finally on a great HRT regimen and not to say that every day is perfect and wonderful, but I feel like I can function and participate in life again. Prayers and thoughts with you and all of the menopausal women out there.
Omg. This video is amazing. I have so many of these symptoms. I could cry. But what does one do? How do you know what you need if your GP doesn't know!!
Can relate massively at age 42. Sad realisation is I've suffered many of these symptoms much earlier due to an abusive relationship and a huge breakdown at just age 29. I dropped from my healthy weight of 8 stone to just 4.5 stone. My Asian GP had no sympathy & simply stated I had to help myself. I could barely stand nor walk in a straight line and felt as though I had full on dementia as well as chronic anxiety. A psychiatrist with primary mental health diagnosed me with agoraphobia, GAD, chronic depression, panic disorder and PTSD. Not once were my hormone levels checked. So after wasting most of my 30's in pain shut away & missing out on my daughter (she was just 5 when I fell on my knees) growing up in this mental torture and complete dissociation, I'm now going through peri menopause it seems! Who'd be a woman?!! All the doctors offer is diazepam, propranolol and anti depressant medication which numbs any feelings and paralyses you. Prevents you getting back to any semblance of normality. Western medicine fails to adequately aid people in my opinion and is more geared to creating profit, period. New sub Doc, great info 👍🏻
@@crh251 Yes lots better: 5 months of HRT 💪 Yet, still hoping to get on some small dose of testosterone in a few weeks if my doctor "lets" me... greetings over the big pond🍀
@@nicolemerz1731, that’s great! I’ve been on HRT for 2 1/2 years now. I’m not on testosterone either, but I’m hoping to talk to my doctor about trying it. I don’t think we need much, but it’s supposed to be quite helpful also.
Thank you! That is what i find very annoying, when they simply it to hot flash, dryness and mood, when there is so much more debilitating symptoms theyre not mentioning. It actually feels like dying, or going crazy.
You have verbalized in such plain English all the neurological issues facing women in menopause. I was not impacted with hot flashes (maybe had 2 or 3 ) BUT my worst menopausal symptoms are indeed neuro based (memory, balance (depth perception), word finding, insomnia) followed by gastrointestinal symptoms (severe constipation, bloating, etc) and crushing fatigue! TY for all you do! You're helping women all over the world. Grateful from across the pond!
Finally, someone has mentioned that 'drugged' feeling. I thought I was going crazy! I have quite a lot of these symptoms as well as irregular cycle; however, my GP thinks i have an anxiety disorder 😐
Totally understand this too I describe It as feeling poisoned by my own body I'm pretty sure it was first diagnosed as anxiety this all started 10 years ago at 37 but it's been really bad the last 4 years now the periods are changing I really hope your doing okay xx ❤❤

Thank you so much Louise, I've been following your TH-cam for a few years, following a surgical menopause. This video is absolutely on point for me! So many of these symptoms fit my experience. I'm on estradiol 50mg and testosterone, having recently changed from the Lenzetto spray, as it was irritating my skin. Many thanks for your thorough information as always.
Thank you so much. Regarding this and your other video on surprising menopause symptoms, not only does it resonate with me, I know loads of women with the symptoms you mentioned, not knowing it’s menopause.
I'm so glad that you mentioned doses at the end. I'm already on 100mcg patches and after a few years, my bloods still aren't even at 250pmol /L. I'm post menopausal, so there won't be any more produced by me. Not being able to increase to a physiological level concerns me very much as I'm a coeliac and sedentary because of M.E. I understand that it's because the manufacturers licence is only up to 100mcg. I wish they'd trialled higher doses, because for a lot of women, 100mcg isn't doing it. Now waiting to see the NHS meno clinic, but of course they can also refuse on 'maximum dose' grounds. What can we do when we're NHS patients? Thank you 😊xx
@russvet I am thankfully on 125mcg now after my appointment at the meno clinic , so that's two patches. But my GP practice seems horrified, won't put it on my repeat meds list and insisting on 3 monthly blood pressure checks. They could save themselves a lot of melodrama with some education 😊xx
Wish you were my doctor as the doctor who is a woman told me before you go down the HRT try other things as once you start on HRT it's hard to come off that was 12 months ago nothing has helped the stiffness low mood crying anxiety are there all the time trying to get a appointment is a night mare even just a over the phone consultation got to wait 2 months.
I asked the GP reception if i could talk to someone about increasing my hrt. Instead of waiting to see a doctor, the practice pharmacist rang me the same day and prescribed me eostrogel and was so much more informed than the GPs.
