I am having the same issue with my 2014 Silverado. This was very informative! Those old wires are such a pain to get off without damaging the aluminum heat shield!
You shouldn't need to replace anything until you swap the known good parts from a good firing cylinder to the one that is misfiring. If you swapped the parts and still have a misfire, specially if it's making noise, then you'll have to perform a compression test and maybe a cylinder leak test. I can tell you that you probably have a collapsed lifter on the misfiring cylinder. If you can very a cylinder with low compression then your going to want to remove the valve cover on that bank and to see if any of the rocker arms are loose. Hope this helped. Thanks for watching!!
Thanks for taking the time to make this video, I have a 2015 Silverado with 37,500 miles has the same problem. This video will help me to fix my truck, thanks so much🙏
You were absolutely perfect. Thank you for sharing. You did an amazing job with your explanations and video. I need to research this for a mis fire. I was wondering if it was a coil or an injector. Thanks again!
Good info. But for us who don’t have a scanner tool that can pinpoint the specific cylinder misfire, I only know it’s a P0300, how can I test the ignition coils? Info on blue tool to pry the wire?
Using a scanner is the best way for sure. You can always pull the individual spark plug wires off one at time. Use insulated pliers though. If the rpm doesn't change then that's the cylinder that is misfiring. Thanks for watching!!
You mentioned not hearing the lifter, having this issue on an 07 Sierra with a cylinder 4 misfire. Changed plugs, wires, and coils already but the lifter is ticking. Any diagnostic tips?
Collapsed lifters are an issue on these engine. Diagnostics as shown in the video is just a simple way to check some of the basics without throwing parts at it. If you have a known good firing cylinder you can swap ignition parts between the misfiring cylinder. If nothing changes, then it's not ignition related. Then you go to the next step. Injector flow test, compression and cylinder leak tests. If your hearing a tick in the valve train, the compression and cylinder leak test will identify the issue. If it fails a compression and cylinder leak test, the next step would be to remove the valve cover and check valvetrain. Thanks for watching!!
@paycheckmonster I have a collapsed lifter on my cylinder number 7. Had no compression on 7and I took off the valve cover and rocker arm had lots of play. What are my options? I'm handy do I just replace the lifter or are there more parts to change that you recommend. Any video on collapsed lifters you have or recommend? Thank you.
Could be a lot of things. You would need a scan tool to look at engine data. I would recommend starting with checking misfire data and what cylinders are effected. Then I would look at fuel trim to what that is doing and go from there.
Did you verify the misfire on #7 with a scan tool??? If so did you have spark output on that cylinder? If so, you need to check compression and fuel on that cylinder. Thanks for watching!
i replaced spark plug and spark plug wire and coil on cylinder 8, so that might lead to wiring issue which means connectors ? so i need to know how to replace it

Changed everything you did in this video. still got the cylinder 2 misfire. there’s also a loud ticking or maybe clicking coming from the engine.

@ copy that. also the noise sounds like an exhaust leak more like the sound of air leaking? mainly from the air intake manifold area/ throttlebody

Glad it helped. Thanks for watching.
I think you fixed my problem and I didn’t even start checking anything yet. Besides scan tool: misfire cylinder 6
2014 Silverado 5.3
205k miles
My man 💪 you so smart I finally fix my truck thanks too you help 🙏
Glad to helped. Thanks for watching!!
Thank you very much. My 2014 Silverado is having similar issues.
Thanks for watching!!

Thanks for watching.
Should have moved plug wire & coil also evap solenoid probably bad .. which allows it to draw fuel vapor from tank which is not metered by pcm
Should have watched the whole video!!!
easy instructions. thanks
You bet!
information really helped thanks!
Glad it helped. Thanks for watching!!
Very nice work! Thanks boss
Thanks for the feedback and thanks again for watching!!
I have a 14 Silverado with 41k miles. This seems like the problem I’m having.

In my case after swaping plugs, wires and coil, its still showing same plug, any idea what to check next?😅
Sounds like a mechanical fault in the cylinder. Check fuel injector then compression test and cylinder leak test.
Yup I’m in the same boat currently. Moving onto the fuel injector next. We’re you able to find out what your issue was?
The #1 ignition coil was faulty. Thanks for watching!!
@@luismejia5448changed fuel injectors still have a misfire on number seven
@@luismejia5448 any luck ?
Same problem but i replaced the plug wire coil and fuel injector still have a misfire on cylinder 1
You'll have to check compression on that cylinder next. Thanks for watching!! Good Luck.
Stuck lifter
It happens all to often. Dang.
What about checking the spark directly out the coil. Could of been a bad spark plug wire
Checked that. No shorting "arcing" through the wire. Thanks for watching!!
I have a random misfire on my 2014 silverado , l have spark on all plugs , what else could it be ?????

What Autel model were you using?
MS 909. Thanks for watching!!
how to replace ignition coil connectors?
i replaced spark plug and spark plug wire and coil on cylinder 8, so that might lead to wiring issue which means connectors ? so i need to know how to replace it
I think the ignition coil harness can be replaced on the whole bank if I remember right. Thanks for watching!!
