      GM has a special puller to pull the rail out with the injectors but after talking to the techs at the dealership it does not work most of the time. If you reuse an injector which I would never recommend, you need to replace the Teflon seals. There are special tools to slide them on and then resize them. New injectors have the seals already installed. Thanks for the comment.

      Not sure about GM but VW/ Audi injectors typically remain in the cylinder after removing the rail, and if the injector is stuck then there is a small slide hammer tool that can be used to remove then injectors

    So I need to depressurize the fuel system? How can you do that without a scanner/device like yours? can I pull a fuse or disconnect a wire to the fuel pump?

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you have a leaking injector it will have lost pressure by the time you get the intake off. Either way put a rag around the fitting on the high pressure pump and Crack it loose. Safety glasses and no open flames. There's not a lot of volume possibly couple table spoons.

      Much better way, there is a fuse for the high pressure fuel pump, start the eng and leave running, pull the fuse, let the eng die on it's own, takes about 2 min. No more pressure in fuel rails.
      NOTE: those fuel rails have enough pressure in them that a small pressure stream of fuel CAN and WILL CUT YOU! Do not open a high pressure fuel line without de-pressurizing first! They use high pressure liquid to cut and shape steel.......your finger is nothing to it! And yes people have had finger cut completely OFF!

    Whatever happened to the oxygen sensors being affected by the silicone in the dielectric grease? Technicians love the clear grease for assembling things that have orings, but I tend to use other lubricants or dry fit like the specs call for on the fuel injection system.

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  ปีที่แล้ว

      I doubt that dielectric grease would affect the o2 sensors since it's not curing like silicone sealant where fumes can collect in the crankcase and be drawn into the intake by the pcv system. I'm not an engineer so I may not be correct...

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you're referring to the upper white seal on the injector that was added in around 2016 to help seal the body of the injector to the cylinder head. It helps in future removal. I'm sure that's not you're problem. P0300 is random misfire but it likely is not random. Check live misfire data and misfire history to see what cylinder is actually the problem.

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It could be the injector but could also be a collapsed lifter or bent pushrod. Cylinder 2 is not one of the AFM cylinders. Does it have a tick in the engine at an idle? Do a relative compression test. Maybe pull the right valve cover off and check valve movement. Are you certain it's cylinder 2 that is missing. Can you feel it shake. Does it count active misfire on cylinder 2.

      @PhillipBailey  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes they are a bitch to get out for sure. Took me several hours to get them out. The dealer has a tool but I'm told it doesn't work either. I found if you force the clip off and leave the injector in the head then remove the rail so it's out of the way then you can grab the injector with vise grips and twist it back and forth. If it breaks off your probably going to have to remove the head. Good luck.

    Are these injectors known for leaking and causing a ticking randomly like its pinging

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If the ticking is accompanied with a misfire it's likely a sticking collapsed lifter. A leaking injector won't cause a noise.

    • @Carlos-ip2ir
      @Carlos-ip2ir 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @PhillipBailey it's not consistent and tells us it's number 5 acting up sounds like pinging took off the valve cover and all of the valvetrain is moving properly with nothing loose and I'm getting consistent 180psi out of compression test. Over 200000 miles and there is so much carbon on the intake and valves ....heard these are known for having carbon build up causing a misfire or pinging witch I hear randomly and doesn't sound loke a valve....just getting some conversation with you pretty sure the injector is leaking or the pump is leaking so mu h fuel in the oil

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Carlos-ip2ir yes the high pressure fuel pump can leak into the crankcase but it usually runs rich. Carbon on the intake valves can lead to misfire

    • @Carlos-ip2ir
      @Carlos-ip2ir 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @PhillipBailey yeah thays what I'm thinking the carbon can actually stay red hot causing a pre ignition....when I removed the driver side valve cover to look at the valves every thing was disconnected the noise wasn't happening but if we switch Coils and plugs it stays at 5 does not travel it also reminds me of the common rail cummins when the injector starts going bad it has a funny clicking

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @Carlos-ip2ir I can't see it being an injector but I guess it's possible. Try an injector cutout test with a decent scan tool.

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a fuel imbalance code I believe. There are a lot of things that can cause that. Are the O2 sensors original. Aftermarket ones are often problematic. Try swapping the two forward sensors? Exhaust stock? Exhaust leaks? Plugs new? Air filter new and OEM?

    Would this fix a p0430 code if it has bad fuel injection?

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The P0430 code is an indication of Catalyst inefficiency which is likely a result of random misfires and injector problems. You will likely need to replace injectors, clean intake carbon deposits and the likely change to Catalyst. It's been my experience that the 430 code is the result of the injector and misfires and once the converter is poisoned it will need replacement.
