Thanks Dan, another spot on review. I really appreciate and respect your opinion, and like the straightforward style of reporting. I can also tell you're a good driver. Don't see that too much in a lot of these car reviews. 👍🏻
Enjoyed this video Dan. In terms of fun (and ignore 0-60, topspeed, G-forces), would your Alpine A110 be more fun to drive than the 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 on british country roads? 🤔 Would be great to see a back-to-back comparison of those two cars if logistics allow it!
Great quick review. At 5:20 "I love the way the soundtrack hardens as you go through five, six thousand rpm." It'd be nice if you'd had a snippet of exactly that as it happened, showing the rev counter.
Dan you don’t mention the gearing of the car in that other reviews mention that it’s very long geared with limited opportunity to explore the higher rev range beyond 2nd gear legally - does this matter in the overall driveability?
Why should he mention it if it hasn’t detracted from the driving experience? You are correct when you ask if it matters in the overall driveability, it doesn’t
This would be the perfect application for a properly geared manual transmission. Wouldn't be stepping on the almighty 911 toes and yet could be the ultimate back road driver.
Thanks for your great review mate. I would have ordered this car were it available when I ordered my 2020 718 Spyder. I would have saved $10,000 Canadian!
I take exception with the Sound of a car. I have a 2017 718 Boxster S. European Delivery, 242 laps on Nordschleifer, no crash. The performance and drivability of my car is as good or better than this GTS. rated at 4.2 0-60 and does better. So if you are looking for a great car at a good price a Used 4 tubo may be better than a new GTS and certainly a better Value.

Regular track use, searching for 1/10 of seconds of course suggest different...
Dan, Why you didn't talk about the too long gear ratios that forces the driver to only drive in first and second gears if he wants to hear the high revs melody of the flat six engine ? 👎
Lenso Prezole ...just drive the car and you understand that you get a nice experience, also acoustically, on a b-road through all the gears, even if you chose to not go for prison-speed....
@@fragu123 I disagree. You sound like a novice saying that driving at low revs is a nice experience. Why do you watch porsche videos then ? You should drive a plush SUV with an automatic gearbox. A Porsche is meant to be atmospheric and at times driven to the red line. It is a sports car.

@@fragu123 Right. I think on a GTS it's not as big of deal, but on a GT4/Spyder, it is a big miss. You need properly spaced gear ratios to get the most out of performance engine, whether on track or on road.

Build quality of Porsche lasts life long and GT/GTS cars have a great resale value too. The fact that Porsche sticks to a manual rounds it well up. Finally, it depends on ones preferences we shall say: the 718GTS for the enthusiastic driver that can’t miss out on a manual and goes for blast before sunrise, the C8 for the others. Both great in their own way.
Different styles. Cayman is more me. Sad that the C8 has no manual option. Fun C8 design though and mid-engine is a joy to see. Get that C8 if you can! Life is brief.
Here we go again, more rubbish from Porsche, Who wants a 4.0 litre sportscar especially as there are so many cheaper fast cars out there at half the price. I know someone who bought one and his first complaint was it's too noisy, I had a go in one and not only is it too noisy but the suspension at the front is too harsh. Has anyone out there noticed how many variations there are of this model, sounds like they are desperate to me, they should have just made a 2.0 litre turbo with 400bhp and left all the other nonsense alone.
Sorry jedi, there isnt another sportscar available for half the price that is as composed and as agile as the mid engine Boxster/cayman models. The only cars that are similar are the C8 vette and the Lotus Emira.
That was a great review mate, straight to the point, no fake laughs, no b.s. Excellent!

Cayman all the way. Every time I flirt with any other brand it’s a let down.
Dan will be keen on your view on the pdk versions given fall gearing issues
2 facts this sounds great and with pdk its 3.8 0-60
Agree
This car could have 500HP and the zero to sixty time would still be 4.5 seconds according to PORSCHE.
💯
