Thanks so much! *I might make an annotation or a note that - you have to twist it counterclockwise (or clockwise - i forget) fully to unlock it. From the video instructions, it made it sound like you had to twist it back and forth to get it off so i spent a good hour trying to jiggle it back and forth and pulling up on it... Of course there's a little indicator in my model that says 'align' and 'unlock' - which then i simply turned it towards 'unlock' and it came right off lol. Thanks again!
Thanks for the info! I had to twist mine back and forth to free it up enough to be able to turn it in the unlock direction. I think what happens is that ground coffee gets into the locking mechanism over time and prevents it from turning freely.
@@The4Crawler Yes,I noticed that once the inner upper burr get stuck, it might inadvertently caused the gap wider. This could be the reason why my grind setting suddenly dropped from the usual 14 to 6. If my hypothesis is true, then it is advisable to clean the grinder more often to prevent ground stuck inside
@@Presso99 It may be that there is some buildup inside the grinder that is causing the problems you describe. In the Barista Express grinder that sort of thing can happen. Coffee grounds can get into the adjustment mechanism and limit how far it'll move. Your Owner's Manual should have some cleaning instructions.
@@The4Crawler I soaked it with baking soda for about 30 mins, it free up all the grounds that stuck inside, but after freed up the ground, the burr assembly seems a little loosen. I believe this could be the gap which i am encountering now
@@Presso99 If that grinder is like the Barista Express model that I have, there are a number of washers and shims inside that need to go in the right location. From what I understand, the later model grinders on the Barista Express have a micro-adjustment feature on one of the burrs that allow for adjustment in the spacing to account for wear over time, not sure if your grinder has either of those features.
OMG THANK YOU! My grinder sounded like it was exploding this morning when I made my coffee. This 100% fixed it and it you made it so much easier. I never would’ve been able to do it with the manual.
Hi! Thank you for making this video, we just got home from vacation, exhausted from traveling and the coffee wasn’t grinding.... aka my husband almost had a meltdown.... I found your video and we did it. You saved my marriage. :$
I want to comment and show my gratitude! My grinder stopped working and I was literally on the verge of either paying for 300aud+ service fee or buying a brand new grinder. I followed your steps and it's now back to normal - I can't be more grateful that I saw your video before committing to spending a cent!
my breviile after 4 months of using it suddenly the beans tasted bitter even if its freshly new, after watching this i cleaned mine.. Viola!!! coffee tastes so good again :) Thanks
Glad you were able to fix it. Yes, old ground coffee can get stuck inside the grinder outlet chute and over time that could add to a bitter taste if it mixes in with the freshly ground beans.
Thanks a lot Mr.Brown, I helped me a lot to solve my problem with my blocked Breville grinder (after 4 years of excellent grinding) Have a nice Day, Ernesto Colombia
This series is a gem. These machines aren't very straight forward like comecial grade so it's nice having video logs of tare down and build ups from start to finish. Thank you thank you.
Glad you found these videos helpful. My main motivation was to document how to do all these tasks for myself so if I need to, I can go back and recall how something was done.
Thanks for this video sequence. Adding the transcript and timeline detail really help make this a useful reference. Appreciate the parts list info as well. It's a shame that Breville does not have this type of information or a link to your clip available on their website. The upper grind basket on my machine was really locked in place with grind residue so it took a fair amount of working it back & forth to get it to unlock in order to be able to remove it.
Glad it was helpful! Yes, that upper burr can be tough to remove. I get many comments saying that you only need to rotate it one direction to remove it. But I find that it usually needs the back and forth action to free it up.
Thanks for your very helpful video. You saved my coffee machine. I thought it was wrecked, ruined, kapputt. With your helpful advice I was able to repair it. Turns out the coffee bean from Hell, unlike any bean before to pass through the grinder over the years had jammed it up. That weird little bean was rock solid but definitely a bean. All good again now.
Thank you for this video!!!! We bought ours second hand and the previous folks must have put ground coffee in the blender. So much coffee was jammed in there!
Great Video and Ethos R Brown. Am stuck with an inner pin/bolt that appears to slip down w gravity otherwise lugs are not lining up with recesses resulting in (time stamp 6mins ) not leaving any thread to add washers and screw the nut cap back on the upper and lower burr. Slightly frustrating as have had to fill a need with instant coffee this morning and until I can get this fixed .
I've not run into that issue before. I have a parts diagram below: photos.app.goo.gl/GJvopamrDbwLzxVg7 Maybe that'll help you see what's under that. Maybe that center stud has slipped out of place and something holds it from below. Otherwise, a new grinder assembly is available. And you can use a separate grinder and/or pre-ground coffee with the dual wall filter basket.
Mine is fairly new so I have not had to do this deep clean yet, but will certainly come back when the time comes. Thank you so much for the poting, very helpful.
You are so welcome! I only find I need to do this every few years. Usual sign is that I have the grinder on the coarsest setting and also the highest amount and am not getting a full filter basket.
Great, thanks for the feedback. I have a few videos that also cover different grinder cleaning techniques in case this first level cleaning doesn't help.
@@The4CrawlerI havent tried the rice as of yet but I was also told to use beakfast cereal, I'll try the rice, when I took the felt washer out it was half broken, would this be better to replace with a new one before use would you say? Cheers for the reply 😁
I suppose a good dry, crunchy cereal would work as well as rice. My guess is the felt washer is only there to keep coffee powder out of the bushing below the center burr. Probably would be fine to run for a while without that washer, they are available on Breville's on-line store: www.breville.com/us/en/parts-accessories/parts/sp0001575.html
Excellent video, thanks! I’m a clean freak and the cleanest thing in my home is my espresso grinder. It still just runs with a tiny bit of grind dust produced. This is a newer machine, used less than a dozen times and then poof...no more grinder. I am going to call the Breville Warranty line tomorrow and see if there are any other diagnostics I can do. I miss my lattes... 🥲
Thanks for making this video. I haven't cleaned my 870 since day one which was Dec 2018. can't believe how much crap is inside. while cleaning, i uncovered some pebbles inside.. maybe that's why i couldn't get the grind fine enough.
Thanks for the comment. Hadn't thought of cleaning pebbles out of the grinder but I see how they could get in there hidden in the coffee beans. It's getting about time I clean mine again.
@@The4Crawler yea i've been using medium and dark roast beans.. even on setting 1, 18g of dose, 36-38g of yield.. my shot time is only 18sec or less.. and that's counting from when i push the start button. hopefully its due to these pebbles..
Thank you- very clear and helpful. We have cleaned all and amount of grind is good. However we now have a problem with extraction pressure being always low. Using a double walled basket helps. We have performed proper cleaning of extraction etc. any ideas?
In my experience, a dual wall filter basket will often have a lower pressure reading unless your grind is dialed in just right. I usually use by dual wall basket with pre-ground coffee and it'll have a pressure reading just at the bottom end of the "espresso range" on the gauge. Still works fine. To get a higher pressure, you'll need to change to a finer grind and also try the single wall basket. Since the dual wall basket has the tiny orifice hole in the bottom, I find the grounds tend to get loosened up inside the basket since most of the pressure drop is coming from the orifice. When I use the dual wall basket, the "puck" of coffee will come out wet and fall apart easily. With the single wall basket, it'll come out as a dry, solid chunk that will stay intact when it hits the ground. It's a bit like if you were rinsing some lettuce and had a bowl with a tiny hole in the bottom and a colander. The bowl will start to fill up with water and the lettuce floats. In the colander, the water flows through quickly and the lettuce is pushed into the bottom of the colander.
Great, glad the video was a help. The method does seem to work quite well to get those coffee residues out of the bottom of the grinder. I think my machine is about due for another cleaning.
Thank you! Exact same problem/symptoms. It started after only three months, but I drink three double-shots of fresh locally grown coffee each day. I'll try the white rice first, otherwise disassemble. (Because the coffee is fresh it is also quite oily).
Glad you got it cleaned out and working again. Yes, when that grinder gets clogged up, coffee can stay inside much longer and also get ground much finer and mixes with who knows how old grounds are stuck inside there.
7:33 mine needs doing, and the grounds are coming out about the same rate as this is, and you've already cleaned yours. I might have to hit up my instruction book when I get to cleaning mine out. the machine needs progressively longer time to get the same amount of grinds out as it used to when new. 😏
The outlet passage from the grinder can get clogged with built-in coffee residue, especially with oily coffee beans. Just keep track of all the parts removed and the order they were in while taking it apart. That's part of the reason I shot this video, so I could see how all the little washers and bits were installed originally as the instructions are not very clear on that.
Thanks for the video. I am missing the stainless steel washer and having trouble finding it online. The washer that sits on top of the felt washer. You couldn't tell me the diameters of the outside, inside and thickness of the metal washer, please?
Unfortunately I didn't think to grab those measurements when I made this video. Next time I have the grinder apart, I'll try to get that information as well as some sources for the parts and put that information up on my TH-cam web page.
Weve got the Breville BES870 with rectangular hopper (rather than round). There is no 'acorn nut' so I dont know how to unscrew/unthread the lower grinder. I think moisture has clogged it. Currently have rice sitting in it, praying that works.. otherwise pipe cleaners. Good suggestion with the torch underneath.
Likely your machine's Instruction Book should have information on how to disassemble that style grinder in the Care and Cleaning section. That's where I found the information presented in this video for my machine.
I just encountered this problem this week. Like the most of us... there happened to be a piece of pebble inside the batch of the beans. I cleaned the burr all the way to the chamber and replaced the ripoff felt washer. It still does the same and won't grind. Bean problem? I don't think so b/c the bean that I used can be easily crushed and I also tried it with the grinder cleaner and no luck at all. anything you put in there will just get stuck and you can hear the motor spin freely and the lower part of the burr isn't moving at all... It really appears to me as a stripped gear. I am trying to see if there is a local service center to do this... if I can't get it fix... I may have to just buy a separate grinder...
There is a replacement grinder available: Breville p/n: SP0023159 is for the "Version A" assembly. You might try searching for that p/n or contact Breville support and see if they have any in stock. Looks like ereplacementparts.com has that listed for $81.35 but it's on back order.
Hi, this video is so helpful thank you!! I have an issue with my Sage Barista Express at the moment, the spindle that is in the middle that the nut etc is attached to, is able to move up and down... is this normal? When I first took the grinder apart it came out completely but I cannot find anything to tell me if I have put it back in correctly. Do you have any tips at all?
Take note of how I installed the various washers and shims. Perhaps one of those is missing on yours. It could also be you have a newer model with the adjustable burr and that might be what you're feeling. Mine is an older machine with the non-adjustable burr.
I was stoned and I accidentally poured water into the grinder 😭 thank you so much, all I had to do was clean and replace the felt washer, now it’s perfect again! Also mine only had one large washer.. should I get another one?
You're welcome!! I think there are varying numbers of washers or shims depending on the grinder clearances. Mine is an older, non-adjustable unit. Later model grinders have the built-in adjustment mechanism and perhaps they don't require the additional shims.
Thank you for the awesome video. I'm afraid I got the bottom washers sucked when I first cleaned this mechanisms. I can't seem to find the replacement parts for these washed, and wondering if you had the measure for the combined thickness for both washers (I'll try and have them machined). Thank you!
How often should I do this cleaning cycle? Making between 1-3 cups of coffee (milk beverages) a day, been using Breville Barista Pro for about month and a half.
I don't think there's a set schedule for this. I usually do it based upon how the grinder is working. As it gets plugged up the adjustment may need to keep being turned up or down more than normal or the volume of coffee out of the bottom seems to be less. In that case, it's likely the burrs getting loaded up with residue, in which case a simple cleaning (see other video on that in this playlist) is fine. But if the coffee coming out slows or stops, it's likely clogged below the burrs and then you need to open up the grinder and clean out the passage below.
@@The4Crawler well I've been talking good care of it& it's working great so I'll probably won't have to run a deep cleaning like this anytime soon;) Watched so much videos about this machine before and after I've bought it it's honestly insane
Hi, I have a Breville Espresso machine that is leaking. I opened it and that the elbow tube on the right of the solenoid assembly was leaking. I was not able to find the part anywhere. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Question - So I cleaned this and pulled everything out but that main screw that the washers go onto came out and now the grinder is not spinning to grind the beans. Any advice how to put that screw back in correctly. Seems like there is a washer really deep in the mechanism and there is one flat side to the screw but I cannot figure out how it aligns..
I've never been that far into the grinder to have run into that issue. Might be worth contacting Breville support and ask if they have an reassembly information for that. I believe that replacement grinders are, or at least were, available for a reasonable cost. Otherwise, just keep trying various orientations until you find one that works. If you have, or can get ahold of, one of those endoscopes for use on a smart phone, you might be able to look down the hole and see how it's set up inside. I picked up one of those endoscopes and have used it a few times where it's been helpful.
I'm having difficulty getting the inner burr over the center drive shaft - it just won't drop down over the more rectangular section. I can see how it's all supposed to go together, but it's getting stuck. Is this a problem you've run into?
Not sure but it sounds like there may be a rough spot on either the shaft or inside the burr that's preventing it from going back on. I've never had any problem with mine the few times I've had ir apart and back together.
I accidentally vacuumed up my metal washers a few months ago. Didn’t realize until I saw your video. Do you know the size of them? Thanks for the video!
Man!!! My machine is the same as yours!! (Same model), do you have the dimenssions (ID, OD, thickness) for the two washers that are located underneath the fan?. Thanks in advance
@@The4Crawler do not worry!! The thing is that I’m not able to locate the part number in the following link www.ereplacementparts.com/breville-bes870xl-the-barista-express-parts-c-116052_116055_290179.html I’m not a mechanical engineer but without those shims the inner grinder wouldn’t go up in order to close the gap between the inner and upper grinder wich at the end results in a finer grinding
Hello sir how are you I just got my machine today but there seems to be a problem with the grinder it doesn’t grind I don’t know why , i hear a clear sound when i try to grind so i think the beans are not going dawn i really don’t know what to do
I've never run into that issue before but there might be something blocking the grinder internally or it's outlet. This video: th-cam.com/video/0ZDii493IPY/w-d-xo.html shows how to open up the grinder and check inside. The later model grinders might be a little different so check the information in the owner's manual under advanced grinder cleaning.
Maybe that's a later model grinder. I found the information presented in this video in the instruction manual that came with the machine. If your grinder can be dis-assembled, then it's likely covered in the instruction manual that came with your machine.
Hi Mr. Brown - I have fully removed and fully dry cleaned and vacuumed. Every few days my grinder does not push the grounds out into the catcher. I’ll run it at 35 setting for 70 seconds and barely get a teaspoon. Any suggestions?
That felt ring is a little bugger.. I had grinder problems before this but the ring totally broke when I tried to clean it. Running without it is ok. I assume it's to stop particulates getting in between the other washers. I'm going to clean it more frequently to compensate whilst I consider paying $10 + shipping for another.
I've not seen any definitive descriptions of the purpose of that washer, but that's my guess as well. Likely will need to clean it out more often to keep that are free of buildup. Have seen where other folks have fashioned replacements out of a piece of felt.
Thanks so much! Don’t know if I lost the shim or there wasn’t one 😧... I was very careful with the pieces and searched but didn’t find it. When I put the grinder back together it worked fine 🤔. Maybe I should get one?? Do you know what size? Maybe I’ll take it apart and measure. Thanks again!
It might be your grinder didn't have one. I think the thin washer or shim is used to set the clearance between the burrs. Due to mfg. tolerances some grinders may need a shim, others not. You can find replacements here: www.ereplacementparts.com/breville-bes870xl-the-barista-express-parts-c-116052_116055_290179.html
Hi how are you ? I have a breville touch, normally I with 11 seconds of the mill would fill my cup to make my coffee, now it takes 20 seconds to do it since little coffee comes out of the mill, I have already cleaned the mill and the same problem continues, you will know the reason ?
Does anyone know the measurements for the Inner Burr washer? Mine is missing and the grinder has made some really awful noises since I got it from a friend.
Hi. I took my grinder down to the lower burr and cleaned it out. Have put it back together in the reverse sequence. It now makes a higher pitched sound when grinding and almost seems to speed up/slow down a little through the grind sequence. Any thoughts? I've only been using it for around 4 months and once daily.
I find that sometimes it takes my grinder a week or so to "settle down" after cleaning it. It'll make varying sounds, grind coarser or finer than "normal", but ultimately settles down and starts running normally.
Felt washer came out of the grinder in pieces. Can I purchase a new one on Amazon? How important is this felt washer? Will the grinder work without it?
Here's the p/n: SP0001575 Search for a seller or there's a Reddit post on making your own replacement. I believe it's there to keep ground coffee out from below the burr. Probably OK to run w/o the washer if you periodically clean the grinder to prevent buildup of coffee debris there.
I find twisting back and forth on the bail helps: See: 02:00 It seems ground coffee gets into the "threads" of the locking mechanism and jam it in place. Rocking the burr back and forth (may take a few minutes) seems to loosen that up and eventually it'll start to move and finally twist out. Or check out the pinned comment for some other ideas.
Our machine is making terrible sound when we try to grind the beans but nothing comes out. It is like the grinder is hitting something. We took it apart and cleaned it but did not find anything stuck. Any suggestions? Breville wants $250 to send it in as it is no longer under warranty although we barely used it!
Hard to say for sure, mine has never done that. Might try removing the top of the case and see if anything is amiss with the grinder adjustment mechanism. th-cam.com/video/w6YAQv_ZJqQ/w-d-xo.html Maybe it's adjusted too tight and the two burrs are contacting each other. You can get a replacement grinder assembly, here's a listing on eReplacementParts: www.ereplacementparts.com/grinder-complete-assembly-p-1810375.html Often helpful to check the cost on the grinder p/n from Breville, they may have it faster and less expensive.
Hello! I need some help with my conical burr grinder. I accidentally took the entire rod out and now cant get it back in. I can’t figure out where the threads are. Any tips?
I've never had that happen. Try vacuuming out the bottom of the grinder chamber and see if you can see where that rod goes. Maybe it is pressed into a hole and uses some retaining compound on it. Or try contacting Breville support and see if they have any ideas. The entire grinder assembly is available either from Breville or eReplacementParts.com.
@@caitlinpsludke There's a small exploded parts diagram on the eReplacementParts web site: www.ereplacementparts.com/breville-bes870xl-the-barista-express-parts-c-116052_116055_290179.html Might help to see all the components that go together.
That function is controlled by the main circuit board in the machine. It reads the push button in the back of the basket holder as well as the amount dial and one/two cup. As long as you can stop the grinder by pushing the filter basket back into the switch, you could still use the grinder manually. If you want to fix the problem, some options below: 1. Unplug the machine for a while then plug it back in and see if that resets. 2. Unplug it, open up the back and then disconnect and reconnect all the wires from the grinder switch and dial on the main PCB and see if that changes anything. 3. Contact Breville support and see if they have any ideas. 4. Order a new main PCB and swap out the old one or send the machine into Breville for their flat rate repair service.
You may be able to find a replacement, although they seem to be out of stock now. But stay tuned to the channel and I may have a solution once I can round up some tools and material.
It could be a number of things. Maybe try finding the wires coming from the grind amount dial plug into the main circuit board and try disconnecting and reconnecting those (make sure to unplug the machine from power first). If that doesn't work, maybe contact Breville support and see if there's a way to test that grind amount dial (it may be as simple as a variable resistance) and if that's not an option, try replacing the main circuit board as that's what controls the grinder based upon the setting of that dial.
Hi, nice video here. I did my first advanced cleaning of my barista express today. However I noticed that my machine doesn't have the lower 2 metal washers, only felt washer but the 2 upper washers are there under the bolt screw. After cleaning, I couldn't dial in my espresso well. They couldn't even reach espresso pressure. Any idea what's the problem might be?
I would put it back together the same way it came apart. I imagine, there is a bit of variation in these grinders as far as whether they put in shim washers or not over the years. They probably measure some internal clearance dimension and then adjust the internal parts as needed.
@@The4Crawler Yes I believe the shim/washer are optionally added under the grinding burr during calibrated final assembly to make up for manufacturing variation in the dimensions of the plastic parts that comprise the rest of the grinder.
@@The4Crawler Oh thank you! Very helpful. I did manage to remove the lower part of the burr (the metal part) and ran a precision flathead around under the little join to clear out the coffee grinds that had it stuck. It might pop out somehow... I'm not a "force it' kind of person lol. But I got it spinning!
Mine did, others seem to only have one washer. Might be one of two things going on: 1. The thin washer or shim is for dialing in the grinder clearance and that may vary from machine to machine. 2. My machine is older, newer machines, especially with the adjustable upper burr, may not need a shim because they have a built-in adjustment mechanism.
You may be able to find a replacement, although they seem to be out of stock now. But stay tuned to the channel and I may have a solution once I can round up some tools and material.
Hi, my smart grinder pro suddenly dropped from the usual 14 to 6 settings. Does this means the upper burr assembly has been worn out? Does anyone can confirm this?
Hi, thanks for this video. We thought we had the same problem. However after cleaning everything, twice, no coffee is going down the chute. We know it's not blocked as we cleared. In other words, everything works, the grinds are just not reaching the portafilter. Any tips?
Never ran into that problem myself. Some things to check: 1. Give it some time for the ground coffee to make it out after cleaning, it can take a surprisingly long time. 2. Tap on the bean hopper while grinding, I find sometimes the beans back up in the hopper and won't drop into the grinder. 3. Open up the grinder and see if any beans are getting ground, might be moisture inside causing them to clog at some point. 4. Open up the grind setting to the coarsest (1) setting and see if that helps get it started.
@@The4Crawler Thanks for the quick response! 1. We'll try again tomorrow morning (for a few more times). 2. We also do that 3. Yes, we did that and can confirm that the beans are getting ground, they are literally just not going down the chute (which is not blocked) 4. We will try that!
Yes, there are some good tips in the comments. What works for me is to try and turn the wire bail back and forth to gradually loosen up coffee grounds that get stuck in the tracks that the burr needs to twist in and out of. It may take a few minutes with no seeming progress but after a while you'll start to get a little wiggle room and then it'll free up.
I just did this for the 1st time ever, taking it apart and I do not have a felt washer inside...? I've had this for almost a year (when Christmas comes around). Every time I try to go grind beans it makes a jamming sound and I'm not sure what else to do because I've cleaned it out.
Hard to say exactly what's wrong, but it's likely the two burrs are too close together. You can get the felt washer and if yours was missing the other washer or shim, those are all available on the Breville parts page: www.breville.com/us/en/products/espresso/parts-accessories.BES870.html But might be worth contacting Breville support: www.breville.com/us/en/home/index.html and ask them for assistance. If the machine is that new, it should still be under the 12 month warranty.
Important question - Is it possible that my Washer For Bearing (p/n: SP0001574) I have only a single washer?? (in the video I saw it was a double washer)
@@PGKeeper Interesting. I suspect they use the extra washer as a shim to adjust the grinder burr clearance. Some grinders need the shim, some don't. So best to pay close attention to the parts as you take the grinder apart so that you can put it back together properly.
ı m useing bes870 like u too. and ı dont got aditionel settings at top burr edjustment like the others. and i m at 1.(finer).and still i cant get a good pressure from double basket. can u help me what will i do with that
The newer grinder and burr have the adjustable settings, that would be one option is to purchase the new burrs for the grinder. I've heard they are a direct swap, but you might check with Breville support about that. The other option is to fully clean the grinder and make sure all the shims and washers are set up right. It may be something is holding the burrs apart and not letting them close enough for a finer grind. Compare the feel of the ground coffee to regular table salt, should be a similar feel between the finger tips. Also, make sure the filter basket is full and that the tamping is good. You might also try the dual wall basket and see if you get more pressure.
Yes, this would probably be the best way to do that. Take it all apart and clean out all the internal passages and allow to dry before putting it back together.
Assuming you are asking about the white felt washer? If so, I'm not sure of it's exact function but it's likely there to keep coffee grounds from getting into that part of the shaft. It can be replaced if missing.
Thanks for this, great guide. Do you know what the felt washer is for? Mine broke when I pulled it out. I’m hoping it’s just for sound dampening or similar and nothing crucial! Seems to still grind ok.
My guess is that felt washer is there to keep the fine coffee powder out of the bushing/bearing at the base of the inner burr. Available on the Breville on-line store: www.breville.com/us/en/parts-accessories/parts/sp0001575.html
I don't have any experience with the older machines. I found these grinder cleaning instructions in the owner's manual that came with my machine. Perhaps there's something comparable in the manual for the 860. Or give Breville support and call and see if they have any information on that. Or perhaps a viewer might have some tips about that. Or you could try the white rice cleaning option, I made a video of that in the playlist that this video is in.
@@The4Crawler .Thank you all the same. the older breville 860 has a grinder , one piece, with no burr adjustment obvious from the top. The grinds are the same now 1-15 and actually it's not a massive big deal because still makes a really good latte or espresso. To get the desired pressure I've reverted to the dual wall filters. My personal view is some of the espresso blogs are over the top in regard to weighing the precise amount and not tampering too hard or too soft.
That's usually a sign that the bean hopper is not inserted and clicked into place. Try removing it and re-seating it, noting the direction of the latching pins and where they engage inside the grinder opening. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get it to click in properly.
Hi, thanks for the helpful video. However, for us, the part between the nut and the grind fan is stucked and we are not able to proceed! Do you have any suggestions?
Sounds like you are referring to the top burr, the inverted conical part. For that, notice in the video how I had to work the wire bail and rock the burr back and forth while also pulling up gently. I think that part gets stuck in place with the ground coffee behind it and you need to get those grounds out of the way. It can take some time (like several minutes) to work it back and forth until you start to feel it move a bit. Then keep at it until it'll finally pull free.
Hi. A good video, just one word of caution. He was having such success with his vacuum to clean out those nasty coffee grounds that I did the same. I guess I got too jiggy with it and sucked up the felt washer and had to dissect my cleaner bag to get it out. A word to the others, who like me, may not be so wise
Good point. I was using a small cordless vacuum that has no bag inside, just a chamber and air filter. Even so, it might be wise to empty the vacuum cleaner out prior to do this so that you have an easier time to find anything that accidentally gets vacuumed up.
I think that model is fairly similar to the 870XL I have. There should be a grinder cleaning guide in the owner's manual. You might try running a hand full of uncooked white rice through the grinder as a first step: th-cam.com/video/iriaqWpfO6s/w-d-xo.html
You may need to work that back and forth many, many times to get it to free up. Ground coffee seems to get jammed into the threads under the burr and make it very difficult to remove if it's been in place a long time. I find I need to keep at it for quite a while. It may not feel like anything is happening, but slowly it'll start to move a tiny bit and then more and more until it finally twists out.
Yes, I imagine that would work as well. I don't have any canned air, but I do have my air compressor out in the garage. I have used that to clean the coils under the refrigerator.
The felt washer at the bottom literally disintegrated. Everyone please make sure you handle that with extreme care, it will rip apart very easily. Good video but please add that precaution. It will help avoid that issue. I need a new felt washer now and I'll be good
Good point, added a note to that effect in the top line of the video description and added the part numbers for those small items also in the video description.
I have a quite new Sage Barista Touch SES880. My problem is that I cannot unlock the top burr and remove it. It is completely stuck - it is not possible to release it. I've read the handbook and watched many TH-cams. What to do?
I had trouble getting the top burr out as well. Turned, pulled and tried prying with no luck. By chance I put the nut back on and tightened it which rotated the bottom burr rotating it and freed it up. Seems the teeth may be too close in some alignments to pull it out. Once I rotated it the top burr came out easily with no effort.
@@iRayan3 Hi iRAYANN. By using enough rice in the bean hopper and grinding then I can unlock the top burr and remove it. I have done this several times successfully.
Likely the switch behind the grinder is either jammed up or not working for some reason. Try pressing that switch and listen for it to click. If there's no click, it may have ground coffee packed up behind preventing it from activating. If it does click, it may be the wiring behind that switch has become disconnected. Unplug the machine and pull the top off and have a look inside.
I've never torn my machine apart far enough to get to the switch either. Maybe you can trace which wires come from that switch and see if you can find out where they connect. Likely they go to the main controller module and then power for the grinder motor comes back from the controller.
@@The4Crawler OK i got in there and checked both switches for continuity (the one in the hopper and the one you press to grind) and they both work and seem to be connected. Any idea how I can check to see if the motor burnt out or something?
I suppose an easy check would be to trace out the wires that run to the grinder motor and check the resistance between them. If it's a very high/infinite resistance, that would say either the motor itself or the thermal cutout has gone open circuit. If there's a reasonable resistance, say around 30-50 ohms, then the motor is likely OK and then the issue may be the main control PCB. That is what sends power to the grinder motor.
Doesn't work as in you get flashing lights on the front, or doesn't dispense any ground coffee or doesn't spin up when you press the filter basket into the grinder. Perhaps contact Breville support and see if they have any suggestions. This video is based on the instructions in the owner's manual.
@@The4Crawler Your video is excellent and very easy to follow! Just wanted to see if there is anything else I need to know about this machine. I will definitely contact their support. And as of grinder itself it doesn't start at all. I have no flashing lights so everything installed properly. Anyway, thanks for your response and video:)
@@SunnyOlga Likely the switch at the back of dispenser may be unplugged from the main circuit board inside. Unplug the machine, open it up and see if you can trace out the wires from that switch to the circuit board and try unplugging and reconnecting them. It could also be the switch itself is bad. But in any event, that switch is just an input to the main control board and that's what tells the grinder to turn on.
I suppose it might be best to contact the mfg. for the exact warrantee conditions. However, this procedure is documented in the Owner's Manual, albeit in cartoon format, and there's no mention of it voiding any warrantee in those instructions. I didn't observe any "tamper seals" in doing this.
@The4Crawler omg I wrote the comment and couldn't expect ur comment back bec it's 4 years old video Thanks alot My barista pro is 1 year old and it makes strange noise from grinder so u recommend me to do this deep clean ? Or what do u think is the problem And can I send u video of the sound on email WhatsApp?
@@fedaanour1052 Might be worth opening the grinder up for a look, maybe something hard has fallen inside. Your machine is a bit different than mine (Barista Express) so follow the directions in your Owner's Manual. Just be sure to keep track of every nut and washer as you take it apart and put things back in the same order. My machine doesn't have the internal grinder adjustment so I'm not familiar with that aspect.
See 1:58 in the video. It may take some time (as in a few minutes) twisting the bail back and forth to free it up. Ground coffee gets jammed into the "threads" and you need to work that out before it'll turn freely.
Ridiculous !! No way the average person should be undertaking this level of maintenance!! In fact, it sounds like some people have tried it and their grinder no longer functions at all. This is like having a car owners-manual with instructions on how to remove the head and clean the piston rings. :-)
Yes, it is a rather involved process they document, considering it's all done in comic strip format with little pictures. But that said, once you dive in it's not too bad. I think the people I've heard from that have reported grinders not working, have tried this procedure after the grinder had already stopped working. Unless the grinder stopped working because something got jammed inside, this technique won't make a non-working grinder start working again. I think most of the non-working grinders are due either to faulty switches or more likely a failed main controller circuit board.
Well you should being in the time where those manuals actually included this. Don't see anything bad in. Now it's Veri esi, you don't have to know it. Everything is simplified to the point it becomes so hard if you need to change something or fix. people don't seem to understand that easy is hard
Some people might find this a bit involved. Seemed rather trivial to me and nice to be able to service/clean the grinder myself. Familiarity is key to this sort of thing and this video is very helpful to assure oneself that one is on track. Mine didn't have the additional shim as shown in the video. Also, I found it a bit challenging to remove the last two pieces. Works perfectly now.
Thanks for the comment. Yes, I always forget to add a comment at the end of the video that I'll be cleaning the outside of the machine once I get it put back together: th-cam.com/video/P0r_FQp5H2w/w-d-xo.html As this grinder cleaning process makes a mess outside the machine, I don't take the time to clean it prior to doing the service only to have to repeat the cleaning afterwards. In the interest of video run time, I omit this post-cleaning step as well as putting away all the tools.
Thank you for this video. It's very helpful. However, I meant the lid of the coffee machine doesn't close. Also, I do not have an acorn nut. Mine finishes flat, and leveled with the burr. studio.th-cam.com/users/videoafU-nttr4YU/edit
OK, you may have a newer model machine that I do. Breville apparently made some changes to the grinder over the years. Never had any problems closing the lid on the machine, but see if you can find out where it's getting hung up. Try looking under the cover panel as you try to close it and also try to locate where it's being held up by pressing down gently around the top. You may be able to feel the location where the top rocks back and forth.
@@The4Crawler Thank you. I believe it’s the older model. BES860XL. One question, should my dial be at “Finest” when closing the lid? I saw a video that says it needs to be at 10 when opening it. That being said, I tried every number. I even tried putting aluminum paper inside to see what was blocking. Everything seemed normal. I’m stumped, as this is the only thing left stopping me from enjoying my espresso coffee in the morning. 😞
@@The4Crawler Hi again. I found the source of the issue. The base of the grinder wasn’t completely inside the opening where the coffee comes out. However, I have a new issue. There’s no water coming out. I can see the water circulating in all the various tubes, but nothing is coming out. Any guidance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
@@angelguerard1908 Glad you got the grinder issue sorted out. On the water flow, likely that the 3-port solenoid valve is the culprit. Maybe the wires are not plugged in properly, maybe the valve is clogged internally (if so, it won't seal off the top port and that lets water flow to the drip tray), or perhaps the Teflon tubes are hooked up incorrectly. Water should flow out of the center of the 2 solenoid valves when running a shot.
Have to stop watching espresso videos...just the mention of espresso and I pull out my moka...although I am very caffeine tolerant with regular instant coffee...espresso can wire me to an off the grid power high...moka pots are only a fraction of the real thing...even with 1/10th the punch...since I don't stop with one cup...don't get in my way
For sure. I've been working with my old Moka pot and French Press trying to perfect my technique with those devices. I still have a ways to go, but the coffee quality is much better than when I started.
Great to hear! Yes, that little "cartoon" strip in the manual leaves a lot to the imagination.
Thank you Mr. Brown. Your video helped us fix our Brevile which needed the upper burr replaced and the grind shoot cleaned out. Great video.
Hi! Thank you for making this video, we just got home from vacation, exhausted from traveling and the coffee wasn’t grinding.... aka my husband almost had a meltdown.... I found your video and we did it. You saved my marriage. :$
Glad the video helped, thanks for the comment!
I want to comment and show my gratitude! My grinder stopped working and I was literally on the verge of either paying for 300aud+ service fee or buying a brand new grinder. I followed your steps and it's now back to normal - I can't be more grateful that I saw your video before committing to spending a cent!
Great to hear!
Always nice to see it done before doing it. You just helped a dude in London fix a jammed coffee grinder, many thanks my good man :)
Great, glad you got your machine working. Yes, the series of tiny cartoon drawings in the manual take some head scratching to figure out!
my breviile after 4 months of using it suddenly the beans tasted bitter even if its freshly new, after watching this i cleaned mine.. Viola!!! coffee tastes so good again :) Thanks
Glad you were able to fix it. Yes, old ground coffee can get stuck inside the grinder outlet chute and over time that could add to a bitter taste if it mixes in with the freshly ground beans.
@@The4Crawler I was about to see my machine haha then i thought of searching here on YT! Thanks again.

Thanks a lot Mr.Brown,
I helped me a lot to solve my problem with my blocked Breville grinder (after 4 years of excellent grinding)
Have a nice Day,
Ernesto Colombia
Nice work, glad the video helped!
Absolutely love fresh coffee and this grinder does the job.
Yes it does!
Great to hear! Yes, every once in a while you get a really tough bean like that.
Thank you for this video!!!! We bought ours second hand and the previous folks must have put ground coffee in the blender. So much coffee was jammed in there!
You are so welcome! Glad you got your grinder back in operation.
I have a parts diagram below:
photos.app.goo.gl/GJvopamrDbwLzxVg7
Maybe that'll help you see what's under that. Maybe that center stud has slipped out of place and something holds it from below. Otherwise, a new grinder assembly is available. And you can use a separate grinder and/or pre-ground coffee with the dual wall filter basket.
O M G, you have no idea how you saved me with this tutorial! Thank you 👍🏽😊🙏🏽
Glad I could help! That little cartoon drawing they have in the manual leaves a lot of the steps to the imagination.
Thank you very much... was stressing our machine was broken 😔... but your instructions returned it to working order!! 🙏👏
Glad it helped. I'm about ready to open up my grinder and clean it out again.
thank you so much, i did this and get a good cup of coffee again, best regards
Fantastic!
I am always enjoying your videos. All the videos are very well presented with the right sequence and crystal clear steps. Thank you sir!
Glad you like them!
This video is SO helpful. I was able to get my Breville cleaned and working again! Thank you so much!!
Great, thanks for the feedback. I have a few videos that also cover different grinder cleaning techniques in case this first level cleaning doesn't help.
Excellent thanks. Took a while to wiggle the first bit off. Didn’t want to budge. Suggest you do this once every few months
Yes, that's probably a good idea.
Fantastic! You are my go to guy for anything with this machine! Thanks again for another good video
Thanks for the comment, glad you liked the video. The Breville manual seems to leave out all the little details for sure.
Probably would be fine to run for a while without that washer, they are available on Breville's on-line store:
www.breville.com/us/en/parts-accessories/parts/sp0001575.html
Excellent video, thanks! I’m a clean freak and the cleanest thing in my home is my espresso grinder. It still just runs with a tiny bit of grind dust produced. This is a newer machine, used less than a dozen times and then poof...no more grinder. I am going to call the Breville Warranty line tomorrow and see if there are any other diagnostics I can do. I miss my lattes... 🥲
Hope Breville can get your sorted out. Your machine likely has the fine adjustment mechanism on the grinder.
@@The4Crawler yea i've been using medium and dark roast beans.. even on setting 1, 18g of dose, 36-38g of yield.. my shot time is only 18sec or less.. and that's counting from when i push the start button. hopefully its due to these pebbles..
thanks worked like a charm
You're welcome!
In the colander, the water flows through quickly and the lettuce is pushed into the bottom of the colander.
your video was super helpful... i've been doing cleaning as you showed for a few months now... excellent
Great, glad the video was a help. The method does seem to work quite well to get those coffee residues out of the bottom of the grinder. I think my machine is about due for another cleaning.
Great video. Gave me lots of confidence as I cleaned mine today.
Glad I could help!
Thank you! Exact same problem/symptoms. It started after only three months, but I drink three double-shots of fresh locally grown coffee each day. I'll try the white rice first, otherwise disassemble. (Because the coffee is fresh it is also quite oily).
Sounds like a good plan. I figured work up from simple to more involved cleaning methods.
@@The4Crawler Finally did the full cleaning, worked like a charm, Thanks again.
just cleaned this out- it was sounding like it was struggling. It may be my imagination but damn the coffee tasted better than before I cleaned it!!
Glad you got it cleaned out and working again. Yes, when that grinder gets clogged up, coffee can stay inside much longer and also get ground much finer and mixes with who knows how old grounds are stuck inside there.
Thank you! This was quite helpful!
You're welcome!
What are the specs for the silver metal washer under the grinder fan? I've lost mine and can't seem to find it.
There is a replacement grinder available:
Breville p/n: SP0023159 is for the "Version A" assembly.
Super helpful! I actually ended up using pliers to get the top burr out. It was stuck in there!
Great tip! Yes, that might help, just need to be careful and not apply too much force and break something.
Very helpful, thanks for sharing
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you!
Don't have the information at this time, but next time I open up the grinder for cleaning, I'll see what I can find.
@@The4Crawler well I've been talking good care of it& it's working great so I'll probably won't have to run a deep cleaning like this anytime soon;)
Watched so much videos about this machine before and after I've bought it it's honestly insane
Do you know what size the 2 washers are above the felt washer? I disassembled my grinder and don't have the 2 metal washers
I didn't grab that information when I had the grinder apart. I've made a note to do that next time I open it up for a deep cleaning.
This is great! Thanks for sharing and did fixed my grinding issues! Happy 2020!
Glad you managed to get your grinder working again. Thanks for the comment!
I’m having the same issue, it won’t sit back down so that there’s enough of the inner screw exposed to replace the nut on top
Sorry, didn't think to get those dimensions at the time. I'll see if I can next time I have the grinder apart.
@@The4Crawler do not worry!! Hello sir how are you
I just got my machine today but there seems to be a problem with the grinder it doesn’t grind I don’t know why , i hear a clear sound when i try to grind so i think the beans are not going dawn i really don’t know what to do
I've never run into that issue before but there might be something blocking the grinder internally or it's outlet. This video:
th-cam.com/video/0ZDii493IPY/w-d-xo.html
shows how to open up the grinder and check inside. The later model grinders might be a little different so check the information in the owner's manual under advanced grinder cleaning.
my grinder does not have the little acorn nut any ideas how I get the blade of the grinder out?
Maybe that's a later model grinder. I found the information presented in this video in the instruction manual that came with the machine. If your grinder can be dis-assembled, then it's likely covered in the instruction manual that came with your machine.
Hi Mr. Brown - I have fully removed and fully dry cleaned and vacuumed. Every few days my grinder does not push the grounds out into the catcher. I’ll run it at 35 setting for 70 seconds and barely get a teaspoon. Any suggestions?
Might be the coffee beans are too oily or the grind is set too fine as a guess.

Here's the p/n: SP0001575
Search for a seller or there's a Reddit post on making your own replacement. I believe it's there to keep ground coffee out from below the burr. Probably OK to run w/o the washer if you periodically clean the grinder to prevent buildup of coffee debris there.
I cannot get the top burr to come out. It's like it's stuck in there and won't budget at all. Any thoughts?
I find twisting back and forth on the bail helps:
See: 02:00
It seems ground coffee gets into the "threads" of the locking mechanism and jam it in place.
Might try removing the top of the case and see if anything is amiss with the grinder adjustment mechanism.
th-cam.com/video/w6YAQv_ZJqQ/w-d-xo.html
Maybe it's adjusted too tight and the two burrs are contacting each other.
You can get a replacement grinder assembly, here's a listing on eReplacementParts:
www.ereplacementparts.com/grinder-complete-assembly-p-1810375.html
Often helpful to check the cost on the grinder p/n from Breville, they may have it faster and less expensive.
Thank you! I got it into the hole but I can’t figure out if it’s been threaded or not
@@caitlinpsludke There's a small exploded parts diagram on the eReplacementParts web site:

@@The4Crawler Thank you!! That is so helpful.
I have kind of the opposite problem. My auto push grinder doesn’t stop and I can’t find anything online to figure out why? Any idea?
That function is controlled by the main circuit board in the machine. It reads the push button in the back of the basket holder as well as the amount dial and one/two cup. As long as you can stop the grinder by pushing the filter basket back into the switch, you could still use the grinder manually. If you want to fix the problem, some options below:
Do you know where I can get a new felt washer? I’m afraid I ripped it. UGH
You may be able to find a replacement, although they seem to be out of stock now. But stay tuned to the channel and I may have a solution once I can round up some tools and material.
My grinder doesn’t stop automatically. I have it set to the lowest setting and it just keeps on grinding. Do you know what could be the problem?
We accidentally poured a little water down the grinder this morning. Clearly too tired to think. Hope this helps us fully dry it out.
It should, keep the grinder pieces apart until dry, especially the inside passages.
Do you know how to clean the outer burr? Mine is jammed so I can't lower my settings below 4. Cant see a way to disassemble and clean it...
I've not done that yet, but check out this video:
th-cam.com/video/w6YAQv_ZJqQ/w-d-xo.html

@@The4Crawler Oh thank you! Very helpful. I did manage to remove the lower part of the burr (the metal part) and ran a precision flathead around under the little join to clear out the coffee grinds that had it stuck. It might pop out somehow... I'm not a "force it' kind of person lol. But I got it spinning!
Hi all breville barista express have the 2 washer before the felt washer???
Mine did, others seem to only have one washer. Might be one of two things going on:
1. The thin washer or shim is for dialing in the grinder clearance and that may vary from machine to machine.
2. My machine is older, newer machines, especially with the adjustable upper burr, may not need a shim because they have a built-in adjustment mechanism.
nice video, I use only medium roast beans so that the clean is much easier.
Yes, I think less oily beans tend to be less likely to clog up the grinder. I mix mine up, sometimes medium, sometimes dark roast.
when I took the "foam" washer, it ripped while cleaning it. what do i do now?
You may be able to find a replacement, although they seem to be out of stock now. But stay tuned to the channel and I may have a solution once I can round up some tools and material.
Hi, my smart grinder pro suddenly dropped from the usual 14 to 6 settings. Does this means the upper burr assembly has been worn out? Does anyone can confirm this?
I'm not familiar with the inner workings of that grinder. Might be worth contacting Breville support:

@@The4Crawler Thank you
Hi, thanks for this video. We thought we had the same problem. However after cleaning everything, twice, no coffee is going down the chute. We know it's not blocked as we cleared. In other words, everything works, the grinds are just not reaching the portafilter. Any tips?
Never ran into that problem myself. Some things to check:
2. We also do that
3. Yes, we did that and can confirm that the beans are getting ground, they are literally just not going down the chute (which is not blocked)
4. We will try that!
Hi! Great video! Any tips on removing the top burr? It's really stuck!!!!
@@The4Crawler i finally got it!
You can get the felt washer and if yours was missing the other washer or shim, those are all available on the Breville parts page:
www.breville.com/us/en/products/espresso/parts-accessories.BES870.html
But might be worth contacting Breville support:
www.breville.com/us/en/home/index.html
and ask them for assistance. If the machine is that new, it should still be under the 12 month warranty.
Important question - Is it possible that my Washer For Bearing (p/n: SP0001574) I have only a single washer?? (in the video I saw it was a double washer)
There have been design changes in these machines over the years, so that may indeed be the case with your machine.
Confirmed .. only one washer for me too.
I accidentally poured water into the grinder. Can I clean it using this method?
Yes, this would probably be the best way to do that. Take it all apart and clean out all the internal passages and allow to dry before putting it back together.
@@The4Crawler Will do. Thank you so much.
Hi! Is that white ring imprtant?
Assuming you are asking about the white felt washer? If so, I'm not sure of it's exact function but it's likely there to keep coffee grounds from getting into that part of the shaft. It can be replaced if missing.
@@The4Crawler Thanks for your prompt reply. I accidentally torn it while during advance cleaning. So, I cut some cloth to replace it.
Available on the Breville on-line store:
www.breville.com/us/en/parts-accessories/parts/sp0001575.html
My breville barista express 860 doesn't have the 10 ml nut. Not nut at all. The machine is an oldie. I can't get down the the grind fan.
My personal view is some of the espresso blogs are over the top in regard to weighing the precise amount and not tampering too hard or too soft.
hi thankx for the video i did what you said in the video but my grinder button not working .? whats the problem
That's usually a sign that the bean hopper is not inserted and clicked into place. Try removing it and re-seating it, noting the direction of the latching pins and where they engage inside the grinder opening. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get it to click in properly.
@@The4Crawler it got cut what can i do ?
@@The4Crawler i did not working still :(
i mean the filtr washer ! could be because of it ?
It may be the upper grinder burr is not seated into the grinder properly if you had that out.
Dial the grind to coarse, that will relieve some of the pressure.
I accidentally ripped my felt washer. Is this washer needed?
R Brown, my model is Breville is Barista BES860XL /A. Do you know how can I clean and fix it?
I think that model is fairly similar to the 870XL I have. There should be a grinder cleaning guide in the owner's manual. You might try running a hand full of uncooked white rice through the grinder as a first step:
th-cam.com/video/iriaqWpfO6s/w-d-xo.html
I'm unable to remove even the top burr. It s stuck at lock position I'm unable to rotate it to align position
Use a vacuum cleaner to suck up all the beans which are preventing it from turning
The best way I have found to clean these areas is with a can of compressed air. Quick but keep a vacuum handy while doing it
Yes, I imagine that would work as well.
Just like you, I couldn't be edited, and I'm stuck right now
@@iRayan3 Hi iRAYANN. By using enough rice in the bean hopper and grinding then I can unlock the top burr and remove it. I have done this several times successfully.
Mine is not even trying to work. No sound or anything when i press the button in to grind. What do
Likely the switch behind the grinder is either jammed up or not working for some reason. Try pressing that switch and listen for it to click. If there's no click, it may have ground coffee packed up behind preventing it from activating. If it does click, it may be the wiring behind that switch has become disconnected. Unplug the machine and pull the top off and have a look inside.
@@The4Crawler It does click. Ive have the top off and have removed quite a few screws but still can't seem to get to the switch
I followed all the steps but grinder still doesn't work. It is 2 year old machine and it is so frustrating!
@@The4Crawler Thanks, will try
Does this make me lose the garantie ?
I suppose it might be best to contact the mfg. for the exact warrantee conditions. However, this procedure is documented in the Owner's Manual, albeit in cartoon format, and there's no mention of it voiding any warrantee in those instructions. I didn't observe any "tamper seals" in doing this.
@The4Crawler omg I wrote the comment and couldn't expect ur comment back bec it's 4 years old video

I found out that the nut ( the first screw in the grinder over the springs ) is missing
Do you know where can I buy it again or its name
It won't twist out of the locked position
Going to give it another try before I trash the entire machine. Ugh. This has been difficult and I’m not very mechanically gifted.
Hope you get it back working. Just take your time and observe how the grinder comes apart and put it back together in the same order.
I need to know where I can get burr grinder mine is broken
I don't want to be silly, but the rest of your machine can also have a cleaning turn. ; )
Thanks for the comment. Yes, I always forget to add a comment at the end of the video that I'll be cleaning the outside of the machine once I get it put back together:
th-cam.com/video/P0r_FQp5H2w/w-d-xo.html
As this grinder cleaning process makes a mess outside the machine, I don't take the time to clean it prior to doing the service only to have to repeat the cleaning afterwards. In the interest of video run time, I omit this post-cleaning step as well as putting away all the tools.
Looks like breville really useless for small caffe
Cause really hard to clean up
The machine isn't designed for commercial use. With home use, I've only had to perform grinder cleaning a few times in the last 6+ years.
@@The4Crawler One of the Teflon tubes was missing a ring. Thank you! You're awesome and I appreciate your guidance.

For sure. I've been working with my old Moka pot and French Press trying to perfect my technique with those devices. I still have a ways to go, but the coffee quality is much better than when I started.
