  • If you’re getting P2015 code (intake manifold runner position sensor switch circuit range performance) and have misfiring codes, it is probably a broken manifold.

    I also had this code. Changed the sensor. Didn’t work. Took the intake manifold apart. All parts work. Nothing loose or broken. Was about to give up. Before putting her intake back on there engine , decided to clean the flaps and the manifold itself since it had a lot of gunk on the flaps. Put it back and it has been 2 days and no code yet. So, maybe for some of you guys try cleaning the flaps and the intake itself.

NOPE damm that was a lot of tedious work... and it will not clear... I didn't have some carbon on my valves was your effort worth it? Code cleared drove normally no more code?

    Great video. I have a 2009 VW Passat CC 2.0TDI (diesel CBBB engine - aluminium intake manifold). I had this code several years ago - I purchased the DieselGeek bracket that prevents over-travel of the intake manifold flap actuator. The fault has come up again several years later - wonder what it could be this time? vehicle runs fine, but scan shows the intake manifold runner control Bank 1 stuck closed and also the fault for stuck open? Wonder what it could be - is that vacuum connection the same for the TSI and TDI?

    • @Motorcarnut
      @Motorcarnut  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yours is a little different, can be the sensor on the runner or the vacuum solenoid or the flap itself that is binding.

      If you have a directional scan tool try to activate the runner flap. Also can be wiring problem if you already changed the flap sensor.

    • @Motorcarnut

      One goes to from the back of the vacuum pump to the solenoid, then to the vacuum actuator,if you do have another port it’s just a vent with a filter that mounts in the middle of the valve cover

      Did you check the PCV valve? There is a round piece on the top and on the side is a hole, when the car running there should not be vacuum coming from that whole, if there is it PCV valve should be replaced. The gurgling can be a blown head gasket which would also cause misfiring.

      No, it should have the fresh air kit with is basically a rubber hose with a air filter attached. Or just run about 1 foot of hose and attach it somewhere near the oil fill cap area. If you block it, it will cause problems.

The engine revs higher while in park and the actuator on the intake Manifold seems to be stuck in the open position. Would a blown turbo leaking oil into the intake charge cause this P2015 code? I’ve replaced the manifold with the updated design one, carbon cleaned, checked vacuum, etc etc. I’m thinking that oil is getting onto the runner flaps, migrating over to the sensor, shorting the sensor out, and tripping the code. After the manifold replacement it took a month or so for the code to come back. 2016 VW Tiguan 2.0T 109k miles.
