You can flow coat a lot of cheap or expensive clears without orange peel if you simply set your guns up correctly. For high solids generally speaking, Usually you will need to adjust the flow rate of the clear to apply more material for a wetter coat while also moving faster while applying clear coat. At least in my 15 years experience. I always do a flow coat unless I need to actually match factory orange peel. Ppg Deltron is by far my favorite to spray.
what i like about some of the higher end clear coats is that they tends to stay where you put em. a medium coat and and then you can pound em on nice and wet without worrying about it hanging here or there or worry about dieback or pinching. they are definitely more user friendly! i might have to give this stuff a shot next time i spray ppg.
Man your work is so damn good, all you're missing now is a good camera to film this all in 4k so we can really see the beauty of all of this! 720p is really not doing your work any justice. This looks incredible. I wish I could find people this good in SA to paint my car properly.
Nailed it again Kandyman...I also spray my clear with a DV1 wide open up close and moving pretty fast..My DV1 is by far the most flat finish off the gun Out of all my guns..It looks like with the combo of the DV1 and the PPG 50 lays down some syrup flat finish..Whats the cost diffrence between the PPG 50 and the PPG2021??
Kandy Man actually has a video with the WBX gun and using it for sealer. It was back when they first came out. I’m curious which sealer you’re using? A video about sealer and how to get it flat would be awesome! I like how you list the gun with tip size and pressure in this video, and that would be very helpful in a sealer video too. I appreciate the info you’re sharing with us very much!!
I agree. A video on sealer would be awesome. I spray Sherwin Williams ultra BC8 and their P30 sealer is good but it does take some work to get it to lay flat or with less orange peel. A bit of extra clear seems to help on sealed panels because the sealer finish will translate into the final finish. I’ve tried all of my guns for sealer but so far I love the WS-400 and the Prolite with the te20 cap best. I also tried the sagola 4600 with the clear cap for sealer. Also works well. Nice finish.
Great video. This clear IS D8152. It was so popular that when they discontinued the Global line, they relabeled this in the Deltron label. Same exact product.
@@kandyman5315maestro saludos desde Palenque Chiapas México mi pregunta es puedo utilizar la pintura de una marca y el clear de otra no baja el brillo
Can an entire vehicle be delivered to customer using this system from booth to to customer pick up?? Great great job very smooth looking. Thanks for the video.
That is an exceptional finish off the gun & I don’t think I’ve seen anybody get results like that on YT or in the shops I’ve worked in. Probably laid down with less peel than the OEM finish I’m guessing. Beautiful work!
Awesome finish as always Kandy! Have you ever used the EC line of clears? I spray envirobase I work for Classic Collision and we use the EC520 & EC530. I haven’t tried the EC550 yet.
Another excellent video, I learn so much. When you paint, for example, a wing/fender off the car you have showed how you paint the section that is visible within the engine bay to match the OEM factory finish, but how to you deal with the bolts that hold the wing/fender? Do you paint the bolts separately? Could you show the process including the refitting in a future video please?
Glad to see someone else using good quality clear! Love PPG and Sherwin Williams Ultra. I’ve seen those $150 clears peel from the color within a year or 2. Great video!
That does not mean all $150 clear coats are bad clears. Usually clears fail because the person who painted the car did a poor job and did not keep the surfes clean. I have had good luck with Acme Finish first and Akzonobile U-tech and they are $120/clear kit. I have also had great results with Chameleon and Roberlo high solid clears that cost $180 to $250. PPG charging $450 for a 4:1 kit of clear that is 1gal with quart of hardener is basically charging you because it says ppg on it. I would take Roberlo 510kronox or Chameleon 180 fast and perfect over ppg any day and their kits make almost 2gal sprayable clear
Nice work.. very high quality...have no idea how you keep that spray booth looking like new.. How does the clear buff out..? do you have to rub it within a few days? not like your jobs need it.. but mine wood.
I think orange peel is less of a threat than solvent pop. Orange peel can be dealt with even if it appears in most cases, but solvent pop is a show stopper. You can’t sand or buff that out.
WOW!! beautiful finish from the clear off the gun Kandy Man, you could see from the reflection on the lights in the booth that it went on completely flat with next to no peel, after the bake it still looked like it was just laid on the panel, should be a great clear for the custom work👌 I see the WS400 Series 2 is now available in the US Kandy Man so do you think you will be trying these guns, I got the digital version when they first came out in the UK and absolutely love it, I think it would be a great gun for this clearcoat👌🙏👍John UK
I think you said it was a water based clear?? I have never sprayed water based automotive paint. I bet others would also be interested in hearing what the differences are and what special equipment if any is required. I really love your channel. Thanks!
That looks like glassssss killer finish! I just changed shops and they spray ppg water. Its a weird transition but I like it so far. This shop unfortunately only sprays ec520 with 98 reducer. Kinda tricky for bigger jobs.
520 530 and 550 are the same price. They’d be money ahead letting you use the right clear for the job rather than buffing completes sprayed with speed clear.
PPG in Great Britain is the most expensive but it’s interesting , you can buy the same materials for a 1/4 of the price as PPG but obviously not as good quality but for a top car or my own I’d always pay more so this is a good watc 🇬🇧👍
I was going to use this clear on a custom job.... I was told by the PPG Rep that this clear would NOT work in my cross flow booth... He said it's recommended for down draft booths ONLY.... Watching this, I get the feeling this isn't a "spray it as you want to see it" clear, but one where you have to account for the longer flow time. Or was this because you used a slower activator and reducer?
Curious what psi your spraying your sealer at. Im using same gun for my ppg sealer and ive been playing with psi to achieve optium product use and finish.
