I see there are 2 options for these pads on your website. Are they 5 or 6 inch?
Mine are 7 inch
so i could just rip up the old lades hip-huggers as well? lol. Seriously tho, this works because of the - lacking proper word here - the cell size of the 'grit'? As well as being a flexible vs hard medium? I mean if the grit or grinding medium is larger than the orange peel size you end up grinding down the tops vs getting between the bumps of peel?
I painted cars for a living from the 70s to the late 80s. I'm now 71 with zero health issues and hopefully, that's encouragement to you painters out there. Supposedly when I painted cars, the isocyanates in Supermax catalyst for example were a serious health hazard. RM Supermax was pretty much bottom of the barrel compared with today's paints. I don't regret the years I painted cars because it's a creative occupation. You never get tired of looking at one of your amazing paint jobs.
Glad to hear some good news thanks for watching
I'm 47 and want to take classes, it's something I kinda regret not doing in my 20s, I started out as an artist and feel it's time. 😊
This is definitely an advanced skill-level process, things can go wrong very quickly if you don't know what you are doing. CarPro Has had these pads out for a while and they work very well. They claim the Denim is equivalent to 2000 grit with a suitable compound. They also have a less aggressive "velvet" pad equivalent to 3000 grit. The wrong compound will also make things difficult, as it will dry and cake up. A spray bottle of water helps keep everything liquid and extends the cut/working time.
Thanks for the support and insight
Nice one Ryan. I’m competent with paint correction just not at the sanding level yet.
So these are very very interesting for me. What liquids work well with these? Also at what speed? I was going to use these with rupes blue heavy cut or mezerna 400..
Just not sure on what speed to run it at as I’d want to keep temps down? Also can we use a regular panel wipe along side the water?
Ta mate
@@jayroberts4900 I find they work better with compounds that are non-diminishing. While the Menz. 400 will work, for lighter peel removal and will finish better, it is a diminishing abrasive. Menz. 300 will work faster for moderate orange peel. Compounds marketed for "marine" use (ie gel coat), tend to have stronger abrasives and more polishing oils, that play well with these pads.
Man, this guy knows his stuff!
Been using denim pads for the last 5 years !!! Absolutely amazing !.
Found you from Samcrac, amazing work matching that corvette panel. Thanks for the tip on the denim pad turned out great
Thanks for the denim pad info. I have never used one, but will be shortly. Great tip.
Thank you for sharing this! Ive detailed and painted cars for 35 years and just now learned about denim pads. Can't wait to try one out!
Any tips for an absolute beginner? I painted my first ever panel last week. DIY job. It turned out better than expected but it has orange peel
Sent by Samcrac; staying because I'm new to paint work, and I'm excited to learn from you! When it comes to automotive work as a hobby, I'd say restoration is my favorite, so I'm looking forward to learning from you to expand my capabilities as a hobbyist. Thanks for showing this pad!
Hey you won a ZR1 Model Car please email me Samcracauto@gmail.com to claim.
Absolutely incredible again another killer paint job never heard of a Denham polishing pad until watching the video I am going to try the Denham pad great technical info.
OMG - amazing demonstration of the denim pad; thank you!
I'm glad you pointed out the qualities of having some peel, I always strive for that glass-flat-look, never thought of it from your perspective. You definitely changed my perspective on this. At about 6:42 I can see the difference in the deck lid, and I will certainly be buying a denim pad. I like buffing, kinda weird, I know. For me it maximizes what I've accomplished. Next job, which is big and starts.....next week, gets some "tasteful peel". The 442, is anyone's dream, very awesome my man, very awesome.
Thank You for sharing!!! Never heard of those and am definitely going to get one...
I learn something new every time I watch your videos. Great work!!
Glad to hear it
Damn man! You have outdone yourself! Result it's amazing!!!
That Cutlass is gorgeous 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

I'm surprised to say that I had never heard of a denim pad until your video, and I have been pretty active in auto detailing for years so I feel like I should know about this! Great video! Going to give it a go on some future projects!
Happy to help
@@kandyman5315 well I have never heard about the demin pad myself until your vedio thanks for the information 👍
Thanks for the great educational material!
Heard of them but never used thanks for the practical demonstration 😊😊😊😊
Im so glad this video popped up in my feed. Been doing this for 2 decades and ive never heard of this method, cant wait to try it. my boss seems to think that pinch back should never happen, even on tri-coats. I use a value clear so it happens alot.
just paint tri coats at end of shift ,clear tomorrow, problem solved.
What are you calling pinch back, shrinking?
Fellow painter here, and I couldn’t agree more, I prefer a really nice off the gun look, as to a full cut and polish job. Of course I’m ok with de nibing and some trizacking if need be. Looks great! 👍🏻
Thank you 😊
@@kandyman5315kandy man what is your take on the walcom carbonio 360 clear coat gun 1.2 could you do a review sometime in the future thanks I am a fan of your channel

My old Jean's have a new purpose 😊 Thank you for sharing this neat little tip 😁
First time I've seen a denim pad will give that a go thanks for sharing 👍

Great product, thanks for letting us know about it. The Cutlass 442 paint job was another level, color was perfect for the car.
Thank you
Very handy !
As many here stated, never heard of them before, and I've been in modern shops recently.
But a quick google finds them here in Australia 6-1/2" dia and 1.5" thick.
Definitely getting one (or 2) to keep on hand.
I bet you have to watch the sharp edges though !
Edit - just ordered 3 today $18 ea, easy to find online.
How well Where what site I want the exact same thing he had denim pad 160mm

Sent my samcrac: I've always wanted to learn how to paint sand and buff paint to that nice finish it once was. My car has some crazy orange peel so I'll be using these methods soon
Thanks for this great info.
Great tip I actually got a denim pad a few years ago and only tried it once but use it with the recommended compound never thought abut using 3M or something else. Have you used that pad with their recommended compound? They also have an orange pad as well.

Came from Sam's channel. Going to do a deep dive on your videos, already hooked!

Great alternative without having to wet sanding after painting it.
Thanks for the tip. Hi from Réunion Island.
Came here cuz of samcrac... staying for the awesome tips! Thanks guys just cleaned up my '05 cbr600rr!
Nice
You can't beat a buff job but if you can get it stright out the booth looking like is was buffed is satisfaction for me, tells me our prep was on point, i hate buffing, times i do if i run or sag
Awesome never heard of using denim to remove orange peel and the like that's one I'll have to try thanks
Great video I learned a lot
Awesome job !
Ive been wanting to learn about the art of painting and the work that goes behind it, love the work man!
The chicken farmer sent me here! Thanks for the tip on that denim pad. Never heard of that one. Will give it a shot for sure.
Lol👍
That is slick . Painted cars for 33 years never have seen that kind of pad . Where can i lay my hands on one ?
Great job!!!
💎🏆😎 keep up the great work and this video 🙏🏾
Thank you! Will do!
It would be more original in lacquer paint lol
I miss the lacquer look too! No orange peel to deal with either.
That’s a beautiful paint job, show winner for sure!

Samcrac showed me this awesome channel. What a beautiful car.
Great job man, greatings from Bruges Belgium
gah perfect timing, i need this!
Agreed! I’m at this stage on my restoration!
Never heard of this pad. Seems like everyone is out of the 6inch but I will try this out of curiosity. Thanks for the tip new subscriber here.
Always listen to a man with a whole warehouse full of customers cars .. says me, just now. 😊
Nice, saw the link in Samcrac's video, perfect timing, I wan't to slightly de-orange peel one of my trucks, try to save the old paint on my 72 and my pops wants me to paint the hood on his RV, I'm a rookie but I have no quams getting in over my head on stuff 😄
Lol 👊
Knowledge, the denim pad, that part, 🔥 100% 🍷😎👍
Great tip for DIY. TY
Saw you on SamCrac's channel. I live in tampa and may hit you up for some work on one of my cars. Cutlass looks awesome!
Appreciate it
Here from Samcrac that paint scan setup is sick!
I love the denim pads . They save lots of work on these new cars . Taking out orange peel . And now they have one with a different material that is a finer cut . Like using 3000 grit .
👍
Thx so far best yet to jus be straight up break it down and easy does it, can't wait to do my motorcycle ❤
I am new to this channel but appreciate the skill and top tips
Welcome
Good lesson. Much respect 👍

I was taught by one of the best there ever was. I have perfected my methods, I dont even have any buffing or wet sanding materials in my shop.
