  • It's been three years since Apple released the Apple Card and I have been using it for those three years to rack up a ton of rewards. So in this video I want to tell you my experience using the Apple Card for these past three years, what updates have been added since the launch of this card, how much daily cash in total I've earned, what the best reward categories are, and why I think this could be the best credit card for Apple Pay users.

    another great perk that you mentioned about this card is for those of you who are going abroad any time soon. The 0 transaction fees are such a lifesaver and most other popular foreign countries all take Apple Pay. I think they even first adopted the clover device that they bring to your table so you can still use your phone to get 2% cash back!

    I am an Amazon prime user. The 5% back is awesome with their card using Amazon purchases. 2% back at gas stations and grocery stores is nice too.

      I recommend the new credit card by Wells Fargo for gas and grocery. It's called the Wells Fargo Autograph Visa. You get 3x points on grocery and gas (1 point = 1 cent) which is basically 3% back with no annual cap. Unless you have the Costco Visa, which offers 4% back on Costco gas up to $7k/year.

      @@happytoberu Amazon Prime Visa is good for Amazon purchases. But it's only 2% back on gas and grocery. I agree, WF is garbage. But 3x points isn't bad. There is a Discover Card that offers 5% back on gas, but it caps at $500/year. That's like, 3 tanks of gas with today's prices... 🤣🤣

    I treat my Apple Card just like a corporate Amex; I use it mainly to reap the rewards, funneling as much through it as I can, but always paying off the balance every month. It just doesn't make sense to carry a balance with the Apple Card since it will quickly offset your reward dollars when you have to start paying interest.

    • @jimbob4456
      @jimbob4456 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How do you physically pay off the card balance at the end of the month. I understand how this card would be used, but not how you pay it off each month.

    • @marcberm
      @marcberm ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jimbob4456 on the day that I go to pay it each month before the due date, I look at what the total balance is and that's how much I pay for the month. Apple Card payments are submitted through the wallet app and are linked to your bank account(s). You pick how much to pay and which account to pay out of each time you do it.

    • @jimbob4456
      @jimbob4456 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@marcberm I didn’t know you could have links to multiple bank accounts. That would be good.
      One other question if you don’t mind. Say I have some money in a bank that is in a standard savings account and I want to transfer it to the Apple savings that I would of setup. How is something like that done. Is the transfer initiated from my Bank savings account or from the Apple savings account. Thanks

    • @marcberm
      @marcberm ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jimbob4456 I'm not entirely sure but I think the Apple Card can only link to a checking account for payments, vs. savings accounts. The accumulated cash back can also be transferred to the same checking account but again that's not savings. The Apple Card is just a credit card vs. an account like a checking or savings that are meant to hold money.

    • @babybirdhome
      @babybirdhome ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@superzero4250Well, to be fair though, American Express didn’t start out as a credit card - it started out as a charge card. It didn’t allow you to carry a balance at all. It only allowed you to charge things that you paid for at the end of the month.

When you completely pay off your debt on the card it instantly shows you are back at your maximum credit limit. It’s far better than my other credit cards I have to admit. It’s my go to card in my Apple wallet. Also to my U.S. Military active duty/veterans if you sign up (At the bottom of the page) and verify you’re active duty/veteran you get 10% off any purchases you make in a Apple Store or Apple online. Plus if you use your Apple Card at the store or Apple online you get 3% cash back on the Apple cash card. I just recently bought myself a Apple Watch Ultra (Christmas present to myself) and only paid like $690 something because of the 10% off and got 3% cash back.

    Top tip: with a card like the Blue cash or Blue cash preferred, you can get 3% or 6% back on Apple purchases respectively by just buying Apple gift cards from your local grocery store (it's slightly less than 6% for the preferred if you take into account the annual fee, blue cash has no annual fee). Slightly more work for this, but even for someone that regularly buys Apple devices, it's not really difficult to do. The same trick can be used on other gift cards from other merchants too, plus there is the other cash back categories. So while I agree the Apple card is very simple, you can get greater gains with just a little more planning.

    One important thing you didn’t mention about the physical card in restaurants is that in the US most servers take the cards back somewhere out of sight to process the charge. I’ve been the victim of fraud this way before, and I really like the fact that the Apple Card has NO numbers on it for criminals to steal. For this reason, it my go-to card in restaurants generally (unless Discover is offering 5% that quarter).
    The other thing I like about it is how easy it is to use with Banktivity or Quicken. Yes, it won’t automatically download into those financial apps, but at the end of the month it is easy to download through the wallet app and import with a couple of clicks into the software using any file type you want. I didn’t apply for the card for a couple of years because of not being automatic, but that small step is really NBD and it’s worth it to be able to use the Apple Card.

That makes it difficult or impossible to walk up to pay. Not to mention that it makes you look weird.

    You can get 3% back at not just Apple wallet but *any* mobile wallet with the US Bank altitude reserve. Furthermore, rather than redeeming that cash back for money, you can use your rewards towards travel related purchases, by doing this you can clear them out at an even more favorable rate: 1.5X
    That means:
    US Bank 1.5 X 3 = 4.5% cash back on everything for not just Apple Pay but any other mobile wallet.
    Apple Card 2% back with no possible upside in value.

    I use the card at restaurants, as several other cards I owned got cc#, expiration date, and 3 digit code copied by the person that takes my card to the back room to swipe. They can write it down or do a fast pic while my card is far from my view. The Apple Card only has my Name and no other information that is usable to that person. Also it keeps those walking by my table while my card is waiting to be picked up from persons with cameras walking behind me as I give my card out.

      So…you’re somehow using at most 2% of your monthly purchases to pay off 100% of your monthly purchases? What?
      I’ve been using Apple Card since it came out as my primary card, and I just checked my lifetime cash back I’ve earned from it, and while it’s not a small number by any means, it’s not even enough to cover a SINGLE average month’s payment, after nearly 4 years of constant usage.

    I would have gotten this card but Apple has failed to extend this card to countries outside the U.S.. Even though they trademarked it and apparently were ready to set it up in Canada right before the pandemic, then the pandemic happened and the card was never brought here. We also don’t have Apple Cash in this country despite the fact that Apple Pay is in Canada and its more widely used by shoppers and businesses alike in this country than it is in America when you look at the stats. Very weird how Apple just kind of forgot about us when it looked like the card and Apple Cash was coming here.

    Just got my physical card after setting my the digital version, adding it as the default in my apple wallet, and setting it up as payment in app store, itunes, and apple store. Found out today that I can't integrate it properly into any budgeting app. So now I'm having to remove it as default for multiple payment methods. Such a shame. I was looking forward to using it as my primary card.

    I don’t like this card for the lack of purchase protection and extended warranty. They know that if they offer that on this card people would not buy AppleCare. So if you were to go to Best Buy and buy a TV you do not have any purchase protection or extended warranty on that product. But other than that I like this card but I do think that it competes with the X1 card very well. And I think the X1 card actually beats the Apple Card.

      My mom has the double cash card. Where I live apple pay is not accepted in nearly as many retailers so it is much better for her to get the same rewards. I am in college so apple pay is accepted nearly everywhere, so I went for the apple card (and because there was no way I was getting approved for the double cash; I have little credit history). Double cash is fantastic though, I wouldn't get rid of it, especially if you've had it a long time.

    Great video! I too love my Apple Card and Apple Cash. I got mine late 2020 and use it for purchases for which I would normally have used my debit card. I even set up any auto payments for my monthly bills like gas, electric, cell service to be paid using my Apple Card. Since I started using it, I have earned just under $340.00! That's free money folks! Something that our presenter didn't seem to stress enough is that it is not 'points' you earn, it is actual CASH which you can transfer to your bank anytime you want via ACH for free. Or if you have made purchases for Apple products, you can have the payments come from your Apple Cash account to pay for them. It's the best thing to come along for me since the debit card. As our presenter said, you should use Apple Pay on your iPhone vs. the physical card whenever possible to maximize your Apple Cash rewards. Where I use it and they don't have Apple Pay, everyone is so impressed by the physical titanium card! I admit it, I drank the Apple Kool-Aid!
