Another excellent video, mate! The Apple Card has been great for me. I've used it to buy 4 iPad Pros and 2 MacBook Airs and 2 iPhones during the nearly 4 years I've had it. I pay off the balances in 2-3 months, but it's still nice to have that interest-free option. I don't use the card for anything other than for Apple gear.
You can generally find better deals elsewhere on Apple products. So you are missing out on those savings by needing to stretch out payments and pay the "Apple Tax."
@@doompodhad no idea about that. Do you mean places like BestBuy? I was always thinking that every other store would never offer a lower price for an Apple product. Even on Black Fridays.
I always wondered why Apple partnered with a company that had zero experience with running a credit card business. My experience as an Amex customer has been very positive. I'd love to see them take the thing over, however, Amex is not as universally accepted as Visa/MC especially outside the US so that would be a downside.
I have the Amex trifecta with their cards (Platinum, Gold, & Blue) & I love them. I think Apple partnered with them because they had no experience & Apple could take advantage of that.

Goldman also lost a lot of money from people paying off their balances and not being charged interest, as well as giving away money for cash back. I doubt it was the defaults that were the problem.
The Apple card has been great for me. It would’ve been nice if they offered some sort of sign-up bonus as well but I guess considering what you already get you can’t have everything. Personally for me, getting 3% cashback on my T-Mobile bill is great. cashback on money you are already going to spend for bills and stuff is nice.

You did not talk about the savings account linked to the Apple Card. That put a lot of money into Goldman Sack.

Thanks for the update. Seems like it's never going to be a big direct moneymaker, but I like the ease of buying my Apple devices with 0% financing, and the 3% back is a plus given that Apple never discounts their products. 🐬
I have to agree. I use the same as cash financing to upgrade my various Apple devices, keeping one on the card and upgrading oldest device once the previous term is completed. The 3% back negates a good chunk of the sales tax as well. For anyone who is committed to the Apple ecosystem, it’s a great option. And that’s even without considering the usefulness of ApplePay and the resulting cash back.

I have the Ti Apple Card, love the feel of it. If they go to Synchrony I think things would be handled a little better. Synchrony has a way of approving based on the other cards you may have from Synchrony. Some people really dislike Synchrony, but I have no qualms with them. Most of the cards in my house are by Synchrony, they either started out as a Synchrony card or were acquired by Synchrony. Either way I will keep my Apple account open as long as I am able to. My house is in the Apple ecosystem and that card is used heavily. 🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬

I have an Amex I honestly only have apple because it’s a master card and accepted where Amex is not and has no international fees. Not sure it will be worth it if they merge

I wish this is a good news for people outside the US who are not eligible to use Apple Card - if Apple decides to use a more international banking facilities.
I dont know if apple will ever offer the card outside of the US, too many regulations.
I use my apple card as a debit card card . So if i cant afford to pay the statement amount then i wont buy. I love apple card to be honest but i have been looking into other cards recently .
I heard rumors about the tiers of the Apple Card and having them correspond to the different apple colors, space grey, rose gold etc.... Make sense why the cards aren't profitable though.

Exceptionally informative video! I had the Apple Card then switched to a different card and am now returning customer service was excellent. One issue that i have read about regarding the Apple Card with Goldman Sachs was that Apple required all statements to be issued at the end of the month causing high call volumes for customer service. Credit card companies along with large banks generate statements on a rolling basis to mitigate call center volume. I suspect whomever takes over the card will demand higher credit scores for acceptance of the customer business. Another option would be a tiered system. One card for those establishing credit or re-establishing credit and another for those with a higher credit score.
I think capital one or synchrony are the most likely. Amex would be a bad fit for the Apple Card. Amex likes high annual fees and coupon book rewards
🐬 I hope AmEx picks up the Apple Card as I’ve never had an Amex card before. I don’t like Synchrony, and I really hope they don’t get involved.

I think they will quickly realize that the Apple Card is something they will want to keep in business, they’ll find another issuer quickly and will likely announce it early next year

What will happen to the high interest rate savings - no one seems to be addressing this
Goldman Sachs is horrible with disputes. They couldn’t block a merchant from continually charging for a service I never signed up for and they side with the merchant for any disputes. Been dealing with them for months on disputing a charge for a service I never received (my flight got canceled and the airline says I never boarded the return flight…which I couldn’t because they canceled the first flight 😂).

Who would have thought? You don't charge late fees and you offer credit to people with low credit scores and so many of them would default? I'm sitting here on the couch shocked by this revelation.

I don’t think this card will be canceled. The reason why is it because we are not talking about the Apple of the 1990s where they kept trying dumb ideas and as soon as the idea had a little trouble they would abandon it or they would keep pursuing bad ideas. no. Apple thought this through really well before going into it and they’ve been working hard to sustain it which means that they’re not gonna just abandon something that millions of people are into. They are most likely just going to find another buyer and just continue going forward. Very rarely has apple from the Steve Jobs era through the current Tim Cook era, ever just abandoned something because they were having trouble. Usually they focus on working it out. The only time they abandon some thing is if there is no future for it. A great example is how they abandoned the power PC and then they abandoned didn’t tell because there was no future in the Intel roadmap anymore. Then, Apple also abandoned it I pods, because there was no future in an iPod, since everyone just gets an iPhone. But outside of that, Apple has a future and everything else so they’re not gonna abandon something that has a future that just needs to be tweaked a little bit

They will never cancel this card, apple will make their own bank if they have to. The reason they made an apple card is to put a roof over their walled garden. Literally, it is my only credit card and is the main reason I didnt switch to android when I recently upgraded my phone.

Think back to the beginning of the Apple Card Savings debut: I don't remember the exact figures, but the patrons of the savings part of the program had ten billion of $$$ of deposits in the first four months. And that's just in the US. Are people that careless with their money, or is that part still viable???
I dispise Synchrony Bank and already have multiple AMEX cards...don't want / need another one. Hate to loose GS as an issuer. If closing a card didn't cause such a hit on my score, I'd rather close this card out when the partnership ends than do any business with Synchrony...garbage bank.

I’m surprised Apple hasn’t bought a small bank somewhere and offered everything needed.
As of today, Apple may transfer the Apple Card to JP Morgan Chase through its Chase banking division. I still wonder has Apple talked with Capital One about taking over Apple Card, since Capital One has a *LOT* of experience with consumer credit cards (Apple Card is a consumer credit card to start with).
Never went for the savings account. Maybe too many who didnt pay and Goldman Sachs winds up carrying more debt than they can see profit?

It’s only available in USA and possibly Canada.
Apple could also partner with E*Trade / Morgan Stanley Bank which has a long history of working in the online banking and finance space.

If Apple or Goldman cancels the card then they assume all debt on said card for unilaterally cancelling without agreement of the debt holder. Doing so means the debt holders debts would come due immediately and in full. That would be devastating for many Apple Card holders. So far as I’m concerned if Goldman wants out and cancels our cards then they assume the debt in full of each users card and the holder of the card is debt fr
Credit card debt that's owned by one corporation gets split up and packaged with other loans (generally safer and secured loans). These packages are then sold to other financial institutions in order to spread out the (very high) credit card risk. Since it's still a loan with agreed-upon terms (a contract), selling such packages doesn't mean the credit card holder's loans are immediately due. Indeed, the financial institutions have a vested interest (haha got it?) in keeping those loans outstanding; the 19% to 29% annual percentage rate after one year encourages debt.
What about Barclay? They had there partnership with them in the past!
Actually, yes, banks of course make their money off of the interest you (may) pay, but the real money is from the transaction fees they get when you use the card.
Apple can literally go it alone if they wanted to. They have that much cash liquid. They would raise the barrier to entry to protect themselves but they could. Then they could do whatever they want.

I believe this is THE best card out there I HATE paying interest. If I cant afford to purchase something I simply don't buy it. I use AP on everything and get 2% back that goes into the HYSA set up with this card. Then I simply pay off the card at my convenience before the due date.

Just as a curiosity, I called GS yesterday. Got a rep for the savings who spoke understandable English and asked her what the story was. She seemed to be unaware of any Apple/GS conflict. Makes me think maybe some folks are blowing this out of proportion; sensationalizing it. We'll see, I guess.
