    During my first year freelancing on Upwork, I was expert vetted and did 90 projects in last 7 months :). I lost my ability to walk in a car accident in 2021, but now thanks to Upwork, I earn 10 times more than I did before. It saved me a lot of money, and I was able to walk again after three spinal surgeries

    Hi, I've been a freelancer in Africa on upwork for 6 years already. I received the invitation to apply for the expert-vetted badge. I am a Francophone so my oral English is not very good. I learned that there will be an interview, so I was wondering if it was possible to speak French or is it reserved only in English?

    Great video. Thank you.
    Can you say more about your prescreening process when it comes to choosing the clients you work for?
    I work in marketing and in this field, there are always differences in knowledge and what is defined as target achievement. I am often assessed by non-expert clients (in marketing), but in some cases not positively. Do you have a portfolio of questions that you ask upfront? How do you select the "bad apples", so to speak?

Got some with no feedback too... I love the transparency on upwork.. now they need to allow us to work multiple contracts simultaneously 😁

    Great stuff man. I see that you getting quite a lot of success, congrats. Let me ask you, do you ever get some long-term or even permanent job invitations? I'm UX designer and in my career makes more sense to look for opportunities like that mentioned. I'd appreciate your input.

    • @FreelanceFamilyMan
      @FreelanceFamilyMan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry for the late reply. Many of my clients are long-term, nothing is permanent with freelancing but I seek long-term mostly, meaning 6+ months. As a UX designer you can definitely find those types of long-term gigs on Upwork. I recommend proposing to the client that your contract is only month-month or week-to-week even though you're wanting a long-term relationship because they like knowing they can bail out if it's not working out and more willing to sign the contract if they aren't locked in for 6-12 months. And I'm not saying there isn't a time and a place for locked in long-term contracts with some jobs, but I've never done those with what I do.

      @@FreelanceFamilyMan appreciate your reply and attention. Yeah, my long-term strategy is to kind of emulate a day-to-day job through Upwork. Thanks for the valuable insights.

    Hey man! So I just got the Top Rated badge today and was researching about Top Rated Plus badge.
    The thing is I’m in a field (Music Production) where large contracts are quite rare. We usually get small but many contracts.
    How can we check the requirements for Top Rated Plus when there aren’t any clients that have large scale jobs?
    Would love your perspective on this. Thanks for the video :)

    • @FreelanceFamilyMan
      @FreelanceFamilyMan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      With your niche, it will be more difficult unfortunately on Upwork because Upwork favors longer-term projects and is built around that. Fiverr would actually be a better option for you because it's built around shorter term small projects. With that said, over time with many projects and good ratings you can still likely get to top rated plus it'll just take longer. I don't know the exact percentage Upwork likes with long term clients to get you top rated plus, they don't tell us but my percentage is 71% and it was maybe around 50% when I got top rated plus. So hopefully that helps!

    I've been recommended by clients... And referred... I dedicate myself to my freelancing.... And TBH... I have no prior experience.... I developed most of my soft skills through being fired from 3 BPOs for no good reason... And kept an open mind to what the CLIENT wants .... That's it.... Humility and openness...

    do you only do upwork all you got other freelance marketplace

    • @FreelanceFamilyMan
      @FreelanceFamilyMan  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't use other freelancer marketplaces because it's hard to manage more than one, but I do find clients through other means like LinkedIn or cold outreach, my website, networking. Most of my clients come through Upwork though. You can use multiple freelancer marketplaces if you think you have the time to manage both

    I know it’s a very very late comment)))) Can you get expert vetted if you’re not in the states? And another question can you get an expert vetted if your job category doesn’t even exist on upwork!! I’m a food scientist and they have nothing related to hospitality as a category!!!

    • @FreelanceFamilyMan
      @FreelanceFamilyMan  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes expert vetted should not only be available for freelancers in the united states. And it doesn't matter what category you're in but the more odd of a category it does take longer for Upwork to select you for expert vetted

    Hey Chad.
    So I already have 100% job score
    Made over $900 in 2 months
    Have worked with 17 clients so far
    Have good feedback from most clients
    Have worked 10 hrs with one of the clients.
    But I still don't have a rising talent badge🤔... Is there a reason for this? What do I need to do to qualify for this badge?
    Or is it possible Upwork jumps from rising talent badge straight to giving a freelancer top rated badge?
    Please educate me on this.
    Thanx man!

    • @FreelanceFamilyMan

      They'll mainly ask you how long you've been in business, whether you do your business full-time, how responsive are you, what's your expertise. They basically want to know that you're committed to this before they start promoting your profile more so they don't waste time promoting someone who only occasionally gets on upwork.

    Freelancers not taking responsibility = money grabs. The client was not vetted enough, I have 3+ meetings before agreeing to any contract. I want to analyze our chemistry, is the job realistic, can I do a great (not a good job). You really need to do a mini-audit of their ad accounts and problem. NEVER agree to any contract on the first meeting. BTW I Just earned Top Rated PLUS. Also cheap fees = attracting cheap clients. People looking for lowest bidder work, feel they deserve the same service as a high paying client.
